If anyone is here then… WOW! Hope I don't disappoint you with this story. First time I've made something for this franchise. I apologize if the text sucks but this damn app made my neatly google doc all messy. Anyways, Just something short that came to me and thought I'd post this since no one posts anymore content with these two. But enough of my blabbing and on with the story…

Disclaimer: I do not own Digimon

It was a late and cool night in Shinjuku; shone with a bright moon upon the stars, gentle breeze, leaves rustling on trees, and a digimon leaping from tree to tree.

The traveling Digimon consisted of yellow and white fur that glowed in the shining moonlight, along with purple gloves with yin-yang symbols on them. The Digimon was none other than the Kitsune, Renamon. After a bit of leaping, Renamon settled upon a tree, granting her full view of the moon and the stars surrounding it.

She sighed as she recollected the events which had occurred today. Another wild digimon had emerged and cause trouble. Luckily, they were able to stop it…

'No… Guilmon was able to stop it.' She reminded herself.

Renamon had hoped it would have gone differently than the other times Wild Digimon had surfaced and caused destruction. Had hoped just once, she'd be able to finish the Digimon and feel needed. But of course, she was wrong as the bread-eating rookie Guilmon had delivered the finishing blow… again.

It wasn't fair; Renamon had learned and accepted she no longer needed to be the strongest, but it was hard when she hardly ever finished any Digimon and felt as though she was watching.

Granted, Renamon still finished some Digimon, but not enough to make her feel needed. Ever since the D-Reaper, Guilmon had grown stronger and became better in battle, making it harder for her to finish the few Digimon that did appear.

As time passed and Renamon had less and less kills, she became more infuriated with Guilmon. Knowing he was completely oblivious to how she felt, even if he often asked if she was okay.

"Do I even hold any importance anymore?" Renamon asked herself as she glanced up at the moon; seemingly searching for answers.

Suddenly, Renamon heard footsteps approaching and peered down the trail, spotting the source of her disruption; A red scaled figure with a white belly and hazard symbol on his chest which resembled a dinosaur with bright amber eyes that added to his cheerful aura.

It was then Renamon realized she was in Shinjuku park and briefly wondered how she ended up there, before that wonder returned to the anger she felt toward Guilmon.

Renamon scoffed as she watched him, "So oblivious to everything around him."

As Guilmon continued strolling along the path, seeming as though he was sniffing for something, Renamon's disdain for the rookie soon turned to curiosity as she wondered how he hadn't smelled her and why he was up this late at night.

Guilmon finally reached a tree about 50 feet away from Renamon and looked around, as though someone would be up this late at night and was watching him. After he thought his surroundings clear, he started digging aside the tree as Renamon watched intently.

'What's he up to?' Renamon thought, now entirely intrigued.

After what felt like hours to Renamon, Guilmon resurfaced, carrying a bag in his claws with an object Renamon couldn't quite make out. As interested as she was, she still felt anger toward Guilmon and decided to question him another day; watching as he covered the hole and wandered off, leaving Renamon to herself once more.

As Renamon became engrossed in her thoughts once again, she suddenly stumbled atop the tree as she was startled by a voice calling her name.

"Hi Renamon! What are you doing up there?" Guilmon asked in his childish voice.

Renamon quickly gathered herself and regained her balance; feeling quite annoyed at the fact Guilmon scared her, something not usual as Renamon was normally aware of her surroundings.

"Hello Guilmon," Renamon said in a rather harsh voice, causing Guilmon to flinch and ears flop down a bit. "I'm simply admiring the night sky." Renamon lied, assuming Guilmon would be too naive to notice, though she noted he seemed unusually nervous.

"O-oh. That's cool Renamon." Guilmon replied, believing he was hiding the plastic bag behind his back from view. "Mind if I join ya?"

Inside her head, Renamon laughed as she knew what her answer would be as Guilmon was the reason she was feeling inadequate.

"No."

Renamon instantly cursed herself. Why did she say no!? She was supposed to say yes and be left to herself! Yet, here she was, watching as Guilmon climbed up the tree, bag still in his right "hand".

As Guilmon reached the branch Renamon currently was perched on, silence followed. Neither Digimon comfortable as they sat on the opposite end of the branch.

"It's pretty." Guilmon stated, breaking the silence.

Renamon was so caught up in her thoughts she almost didn't hear Guilmon. "Excuse me?" She responded, confused as to what he was referring to.

Guilmon gave her a confused glance before responding, "The sky."

It suddenly clicked in Renamon's head as she remembered she had told him she was watching the sky, which wasn't a complete lie.

"Oh, yes. The stars and moon are quite beautiful." Renamon affirmed, before she noticed the perplexed look on Guilmon's face.

"What'dya mean? Is that a food?" Guilmon asked.

"No, it's the objects up in the sky." Renamon answered.

"Huh? But Impmon told me those are little fish swimming around a big donut." Guilmon said, looking at the sky with his head tilted. Though Renamon may have still been upset, she couldn't help but let out a chuckle.

Guilmon couldn't help but chuckle himself. After all, it wasn't every day you saw Renamon chuckle or even smile.

"Guilmon."

"Hmm?" Guilmon asked, facing her.

"What has Takato told you about listening to Impmon?" Renamon questioned knowingly.

Guilmon lowered his head as he replied, "To not listen to him."

Renamon couldn't help but feel slightly bad at seeing Guilmon sad and gave him a small reassuring smile, lightening Guilmon's spirit once more as he sat up straight.

Renamon's eyes then darted to the bag which Guilmon held and couldn't contain her curiosity.

"What's in the bag Guilmon?"

The reptile froze, before looking down at the bag and back to Renamon.

"Uhh, nothing?" Guilmon said lamely as he gave her his best fake smile.

"Then I'm sure you wouldn't mind me taking a peak?" Renamon prodded.

"You promise you won't tell Takato?" Guilmon asked, hopeful.

"It's bread isn't it?"

Guilmon looked down before responding "Yes..."

Renamon was confused as to why he wouldn't want Takato to find out. He was the one supplying him with it after all and was soon explained how Takato had been giving Guilmon less bread recently because he feared how much bread he was consuming. Guilmon however, had started hiding some of the bread Takato would give him and made the boy question himself if he was giving him the promised amount and usually ended up giving him more, which Guilmon kept stashed in a small burrow next to the tree. Renamon surprisingly told him she would keep his secret hidden, with him promptly offering Renamon some bread, which she accepted as silence once again followed with the two staring at the night sky.

"Renamon," Guilmon said, returning his gaze to her, "Why do you hate me?"

Guilt and anger instantly flooded Renamon as she felt bad about how she treated him but still felt angry at him for finishing almost all of the wild Digimon, for him being so kind to everyone even when they didn't reciprocate, and for him being wanted wherever he went!

"Why do I hate you? I don't hate you Guilmon, it's just…" Renamon drifted, a clicking noise sounding as she suddenly realized she wasn't entirely angry at Guilmon, but rather envious of him.

"What is it Renamon? You can tell me." Guilmon said, eyes filled with genuine concern.

Why did she have to be inadequate? Why was it so hard for Renamon to open up? She had opened up to Rika, and Rika had done the same, but that was her tamer! She knew Guilmon was nice and probably had no malicious intentions, but she just couldn't admit she was jealous and felt like she held no value. Suddenly, Renamon grew very angry as her pride and self-image prohibited her from speaking and her jealousy increased.

"I-I… it doesn't matter. You probably wouldn't even understand. You're too naive, Guilmon. Why do you think Impmon picks on you all the time? Because you're gullible. You're a gullible, naive, bread-eating Digimon. Now please, leave me alone."

When no response nor sound came from Guilmon, Renamon cast a glance at him, feeling something so horrible, she couldn't explain it even if she was capable.

Guilmon's eyes were puffy red; tears streaming down his short muzzle as he looked away from Renamon and leapt down on the grass, turning to leave for his "home;" crying as he sprinted.

Renamon once again felt a mixture of emotions; the main one regret. It wasn't her fault she felt this way and needed to be alone. It wasn't her fault she lost control of her emotions… right? It wasn't her fault he had a perfect life that she was jealous of… right? It wasn't her fault he joined her on the tree uninvited…

'You told him you didn't mind.' Renamon reminded herself.

Her eyes then spotted the plastic bag which was still filled with bread. Guilmon had most presumably dropped it after he ran off.

Guilmon, the Digimon most assumed to be naive. The Digimon who had assisted in the defeat of the D-Reaper. The one who had helped anyone who needed it. The one who had done nothing but showered others in kindness even when they wouldn't reciprocate. The one who had tried befriending Renamon, even after she treated him poorly over and over, only speaking to him when necessary. Making it seem as though he were below her and never giving him a chance to become a friend or prove himself something more than the stupid, bread-eating Digimon Renamon assumed he was.

Renamon contemplated on whether she should return to Rika's residence and give Guilmon sometime or apologize for her actions because she was envious of him and misplaced her anger on him.

She had to go… otherwise she wouldn't be able to sleep knowing what she had done. Renamon quickly concluded it was the best course of action and set off to set things right whether she liked it or not…

(Guilmon's home/shed)

Guilmon was lying in his shed, head down, still crying about what had occurred on the tree which would now forever haunt him. He had never felt so hurt emotionally. Sure he would get upset sometimes, but it was never even close to how he felt now. He just didn't understand. Renamon had allowed him to join her atop the tree. Had he pushed her too far? He only wanted to help her. To be friends with her.

"W-what did I-I do w-wrong?" Guilmon cried to himself. "I o-only w-wanted to help."

Guilmon then cried harder as he remembered her calling him naive. He suddenly recalled the weird looks some people gave him when he was playing with their children. How could he have been so dumb! They all gave him those looks when he would play with their children because they thought he was naive.

No! He wasn't clueless! Sure, he wasn't the smartest or most knowledgeable person out there, but he was smart enough to recognize the occasional glances people would give him. He never really understood why they did, but assumed it was the same reason he did when he was curious or interested about something. Only now did he understand that they were glancing at him because they thought he was stupid or weird.

"I'm not dumb. I'm not stupid. I'm not Naive!" Guilmon repeated to himself, eyes still red.

However, some part of his mind thought otherwise. 'Are you sure about that? Impmon clearly thinks so. He always deceives and plays tricks on you. What about the weird looks people give you? Even Renamon thinks you are and she's way smarter than you.'

Guilmon violently shook his head as more tears shed, trying to purge those thoughts as he wondered if he was indeed what everyone thought him to be.

"No! Takato doesn't think that! And he's usually right." Guilmon cried.

Guilmon's thoughts soon drifted to his tamer as he was always there for him, despite the situation. Guilmon remembered all the times his tamer had cried as he almost lost his best friend and Digimon. He wasn't unwanted; quite the contrary. The little kids loved him and Takato needed Guilmon as much as he needed Takato. If his tamer needed him, than that was enough for him.

Guilmon soon started to feel better as he calmed down and was just about to forget about the whole ordeal, going back to his happy life; playing with his friends and kids, eating bread, and learning about the world around him.

Speaking of bread… Guilmon's stomach was rumbling. He searched for the bread in his hide, but found nothing.

"Aww nuts. Guilmon must have left it back with…" Guilmon drifted off as he thought of the kitsune once more, negative thoughts traveling to his head.

Guilmon shook his head. He wante… err, needed that bread! He debated whether he should return to the tree, believing Renamon would most likely be gone this late at night. Finally, after much thinking, he… his stomach decided to return for the bread.

Renamon must have returned to her tamer's residence, right? Satisfied with that thought, he set course for the bread as he left to exit his "home."

Right as Guilmon left the shed, he found out he was correct; Renamon was gone from where the two had chatted and out on a tree in front of his place.

Renamon stared at Guilmon as he exchanged the stare, neither of them moving.

Renamon had never seen Guilmon seem so afraid of her. She had to be gentle; otherwise Guilmon would surely run off.

"Guilmon I-" Renamon wasn't able to finish as Guilmon turned and sprinted off.

Initially shocked at how fast Guilmon was running, Renamon quickly composed herself, dropped the bag containing the bread, and chased after the Saurian.

Despite how quickly Guilmon may have been running, Renamon was still the faster of the two.

"Please Guilmon. Stop!" Renamon yelled, slowly gaining on the rookie.

"Leave me alone Renamon! You're always mean to Guilmon." Guilmon cried as he leapt over a rock and continued running.

As Guilmon was looking behind him, he failed to see the tree in front of him and smacked into it; landing on the floor. Renamon noticed and increased her speed; seeing this as an opportunity to catch him.

Unfortunately, Guilmon saw her approaching fast; fear growing 10 fold as she neared closer.

"Leave. Me. ALONE!"

Suddenly, a bright crimson light emitted from Guilmon as he began to Digivolve; his body enlarging itself as his red and white scales grew. No longer bearing the hazard mark on his chest with white hair atop his head along two horns slightly above his bat-like ears. His body still containing black marks and stripes, now on the tip of his tail as well.

(Takato's house)

Meanwhile, at the Matsuki's residence Takato was in his bed sleeping. At least until his digivice awoke him with a flashing blinding white light.

Takato groaned as he sat up. Still groggy, Takato reached over for his digivice on the table and inspected the device.

Nothing seemed to be wrong, or at least a tired Takato thought.

"Wonder what that was about… probably just (yawn) Guilmon digivolving." Takato said, laying back in bed with the soft pillow, comfortable blanket and- "Wait? Guilmon Digivolved!?" Takato yelled as he got out of bed and hurried for his partner.

(Shinjuku Park)

This most certainly isn't what Renamon had expected to happen; chasing a now digivolved Growlmon through the park while steering clear of anyone insane enough to stay up in the middle of the night.

Though Renamon had been able to gain on Guilmon, Growlmon was a different story. She was now losing distance as she jumped branch after branch to reach him.

To make matters worse, he was destroying some trees along the way and firing balls of fire at her whilst still running.

Renamon's body started to wear out as she hadn't exerted this amount of energy in a while. She had to find out how to catch Guilmon soon, before he found out he was running in a circle around the park and left the premises, sure to cause damage in the city.

Perhaps she could circle around in the opposite direction? No, Growlmon was making sure to check she was still behind him. She could try to offer him the bread? Unfortunately, she just realized she left it back at his shed when she chased after him.

She had to play one of Growlmon's weaknesses… if he even had any.

Strength? Absolutely not. Speed? Not quite.

Renamon suddenly remembered one of Guilmon's weaknesses he could never master - stealth.

Instead of chasing him, she could hide; leaving him running around blindly and allowing her to get the jump on him. She quickly leapt down from the tree and into the bushes.

Growlmon, making sure Renamon was still behind him, was surprised to say the least when she wasn't there.

"Where did Renamon go? Did she leave?" Growlmon questioned himself as he started walking around cautiously.

Renamon, watching behind a tree, slowly crept her way closer to Guilmon, careful to avoid sight until she got just close enough to…

(Snap)

Growlmon instantly turned his head to the source of the sound to see Renamon standing on a broken twig, both just staring at one another.

Right before Growlmon was able to run once more? Renamon leapt onto his back, leaving him tossing and turning, trying to throw her off.

"Get off me!" Guilmon whined, practically spinning his whole body.

But Renamon wasn't going to give up now. She held on to him tightly, fearing what would happen if she were thrown off.

"S-stop Growlmon." Renamon yelled, but to no avail.

Renamon sighed as she realized she would have to confess her apology while hanging on to his back for life.

"Let's go Renamon!" Guilmon continued yelling as he tossed and turned.

"Please! I'm sorry Growlmon! I just want to speak with you!" Renamon said in the most apologetic voice she could muster.

Growlmon wanted to keep trying to throw her off, but noticed how genuine her voice sounded, as though she were actually sorry. But he had always been hurt by her in the past. Why would she change now? Maybe he should hear her out one final time…

Slowly, he halted his movement as Renamon's grip loosened. When Growlmon's movement came to a stop, only then did Renamon let go of him, spotting the claw marks she left on his back.

Growlmon then turned around, muzzle still having some traces of tears. Renamon examined his amber eyes that for once weren't radiating with happiness, but rather, sadness.

"Growlmon," Renamon said gently, making sure to not sound angry or displeased. "I'd like to apologize." Renamon finished, spotting a faint glimpse of happiness in his eyes.

"Thanks Renamon. It's… alright. I know I'm not very smart. I'm weird. Not wanted by anyone but Takato." Growlmon replied sadly.

Renamon abruptly got very angry. Not at Growlmon, however. At herself. Even after how she had treated him throughout his life, he was willing to not only hear her apology, but also forgive her just like that while speaking horribly about himself.

"No Growlmon! It's not alright. I shouldn't have spoken to you like that… after all the kindness you showed me." Renamon affirmed.

Growlmon wanted to speak, but couldn't find the words to speak with and let Renamon continue.

"You're not weird, or naive. And you're most certainly not unwanted."

"It's okay Renamon. You don't have to lie to make me feel better. I thought about what you said and realized you were right." Growlmon stated.

"No! I lied Growlmon. You aren't stupid. It's not right for everyone to think that of you. You can speak and think like everyone else. You're not weird either!"

Growlmon was confused as to if Renamon did indeed lie then or was just trying to make him feel better. If she lied then, why not now?

"But Guilmon is weird. People look at me weird all the time when I'm playing with their kids."

Renamon scoffed, "No Guilmon. They only look at you that way because they're curious to know why their children love you so much."

Growlmon thought about it, realizing it did indeed add up. Although not everyone of those looks may have meant that, it didn't mean all of them were bad either.

"Guilmon… is wanted then?"

Renamon believed that was the most absurd question she ever heard, but had to assure him.

"Yes, Growlmon. The kids need you, your friends need you, Takato needs you, and… I need you." Renamon said, her voice being the softest Guilmon's ever heard.

Growlmon shined a bright white as he returned back to Guilmon; arms open and inviting which Renamon gladly accepted.

"I'm so sorry Guilmon. Don't you dare tell me it's alright because it's not. I thought I was mad at you for making me feel inadequate when you slayed most of the wild Digimon. But maybe I've always been, and just wanted someone to vent out on. I've been jealous of you. You've always been stronger than me, been wanted, had friends, and have traits anyone would want." Renamon stated.

Guilmon was crying as he only now realized that Renamon had been suffering. She had thought the only way for her to be useful was to slay the Digimon as she had her whole life.

"Renamon," Guilmon said, breaking the hug to see her face. "You've never been in-ad-aqu-"

"Inadequate?" Renamon helped, letting out a small laugh.

"Y-yeah. You didn't need to destroy those Digimon to prove yourself. Just as you don't need to be the strongest to do so. You've always been there for Rika when she needed it, helping her through hard times. You helped save the world alongside me and Terriermon. You've always been needed, whether you knew it or not." Guilmon finished as he pulled her into another hug gratefully accepted like the previous.

Renamon was now in tears as she had been so focused on fighting her whole life, thinking she had to prove her worth to others. When she had already helped many including her tamer and Impmon through tough times.

"And you claim to be stupid." Renamon mocked, before turning serious again. "Guilmon, I'd like to start over with you."

"Sure Renamon!" Guilmon smiled, extending his paw.

Renamon mimicked his action with the opposite hand, shaking his hand as their friendship was starting anew.

"What do we do now?" Guilmon asked, stomach abruptly growling in response. Both Digimon laughing.

"I suppose we could enjoy the bread I left at your home." Renamon replied, only now realizing how tired and hungry she was.

"It's alright Renamon. We can grab the bread from Takato who's standing over there with it." Guilmon replied, walking up to his tamer to grab the bag while Renamon turned around nervously. When he tried to retrieve it however, Takato held on tightly as Guilmon only now noticed his Tamer was a mixture of Angry and Perplexed.

Renamon immediately walked forward and bowed her head in respect. "Please forgive me for causing this mess. Me and Guilmon had a long night."

Takato only stood there. Mouth still agape and eyes wide open as he stared at the destruction around the park.

"Sorry Takato. What happened was-" Guilmon started but was interrupted by Takato giving him the bag filled with bread.

"Just… go enjoy your bread please. And make sure to stay away from here for a while." Takato said, too tired to yell. He didn't even want me o know what had happened and resulted in the ruined park.

With that, Guilmon and Renamon left to go to Rika's house for the rest of the night… and most presumably the rest of the month.

Let's just say that the next morning people were very confused and not very pleased with what had resulted from two anonymous Digimon.

A/N: Whew! Was not planning for this to be that long, but then again, no one really ever does. If you made it to the end of this totally short story, then I hoped you enjoyed. If you liked this, then please leave a review on what I can improve on and if you'd like me to make more stories with these two. Thanks again and have a great day/night!

Guilmon: Bye bye!
