Sailor Moon was originally created by Naoko Takeuchi, while Golden Hawk was created by me, although his secret identity was created by Jerry and Sharon Logue. This series takes place in a real place, Orange County, California, during the 1980s. While I strive to make this series as accurate as possible, I have made some changes for artistic purposes.

Meet Serena Campbell, a typical all-American girl. Blonde hair, blue eyes, a little on the short side. She's very pretty, even though she sometimes thinks her nose is a little small for her face, and she sometimes wishes she was a couple inches taller. She has family and friends, people who love her, and people she loves. She sort of somewhat has a boyfriend, well, he's a boy, and he's her friend, but neither of them can decide whether they're "just friends" or something more. When we last left our hero(or, more accurately, heroine), she had just returned from her first battle as a superhero and has accepted her destiny...

CHAPTER 2: ...WINNING LOVE BY DAYLIGHT

FULLERTON, CALIFORNIA

"Now about your so-called codename," Luna said.

"What's wrong with it?" Serena asked.

"We already agreed you're the Sailor Suited Pretty Guardian of the Moon," Luna said.

"That name's a bit too much of a mouthful," Serena said. "That's why I improved it."

"Improved it?" Luna asked.

"Yeah," Serena said. "I took the first and last words, and cut out the middleman. Boom, Sailor Moon. And it perfectly fits my friend Jerry's criteria for a good superhero name."

"And what would that criteria be?" Luna asked.

"It's short, catchy, memorable, and fits easily on a newspaper headline," Serena said. "Besides, your name sounds a bit too pompous."

"Now that you mention it," Luna said, "I like your name better. That settles it, you're now Sailor Moon."

"Now that we got the little matter with my name out of the way," Serena said, "I have one other concern."

"And what would that be?" Luna asked.

"Something about my costume," Serena said.

"What about your costume?" Luna asked.

"It reveals a bit too much," Serena said.

"What do you mean?" Luna asked. "Yes, your costume is quite form-fitting, but it doesn't leave a whole lot of skin exposed, except maybe for your upper arms, part of your lower legs, and your sides."

"That's not what I'm talking about," Serena said. "I'm not talking about covering up my body, but covering up my face."

"Why would you want to cover your face?" Luna asked."

"Gee, I don't know," Serena said. "Maybe because if someone saw my face when I was Sailor Moon, they might, I don't know, recognize me or something. Having everyone and their aunt Sally know that Serena Campbell and Sailor Moon are one and the same kind of defeats the entire purpose of a secret identity. Speaking of which, would it be possible to get a pair of gloves that covers my fingertips? I may have forgotten to mention that the DMV fingerprints you when you get a driver's license, so my fingerprints are on file with the state of California."

"You needn't worry about either your face or fingerprints," Luna said. "I forgot to mention that when you're powered up as Sailor Moon, you're protected by an aura that hides your secret identity. It obscures your face, distorts your voice, prevents you from leaving fingerprints, among other things. However, the aura is ineffective to anyone who knows your dual identity."

"Why would I need to protect my secret identity from someone who already knows it?" Serena asked.

"Exactly," Luna said. "Anyways, I think you need to have a little talk with this Jerry person. You need to tell him how you feel about him."

"What the fuck are you doing reading my diary?" Serena asked.

"I didn't read your diary," Luna said. "I read your mind."

"Why did you do that?" Serena asked.

"It was purely unintentional," Luna said. "When you removed the bandage from my forehead, I briefly lost control of my powers, so I accidentally used my telepathic abilities to look into your mind. You seem to think a lot about this Jerry person, but are unsure how you feel about him."

"I love him," Serena said. "I mean, he and I are best friends. But I don't know if I love him or if I "love him" love him. And if I do love him, I wonder if he loves me or if he "loves me" loves me."

"I don't know what "love" love is," Luna said. "I mean, cats aren't exactly known for being experts when it comes to matters of the heart. But I do know one thing, the two of you need to lay your cards on the table, as they say. Someone once said that honesty is a strong foundation on which to build a strong friendship."

"Who said that?" Serena asked.

"I did," Luna said. "I said it just now. So tell me, what's this Jerry like, anyway?"

"He;s kind of like Duckie," Serena said.

"Let's pretend for a minute I have no idea who Duckie is," Luna said.

"I take it you never saw Pretty in Pink," Serena said.

"Is that the one with the redhead from the first season of The Facts of Life?" Luna asked.

"Yeah," Serena said. "It's about this girl, Andie, she's from the wrong side of the tracks, she falls in love with this boy, Blaine, let's just say he's more Easy Street than Skid Row. Anyway, Andie's best friend is this guy named Philip, his nickname is Duckie Let's just say Duckie marches to the beat of his own drummer, but he would walk through the gates of Hell for Andie. There's one scene in the movie, Duckie jumps this rich douchebag who was badmouthing Andie, I swear when I saw the movie, that scene totally made me think of Jerry. And there was a scene where Duckie and Andie have an argument about her and Blaine, this rich guy she had a crush on, where Duckie said that when Blaine broke her heart, he wouldn't be there for her for the first time in her life. I cried at that scene. And at the end, I so wanted her to end up with Duckie and not Blaine. Oh my god, I just realized something.'

"What's that?" Luna asked.

"I've "loved Jerry" loved Jerry pretty much since I first met him," Serena said. "I only realized it yesterday."

"You need to sit down with that boy and have a heart to heart talk," Luna said. "The sooner the better."

Just as Luna said that, there was a knock at the door. More precisely, three quick knocks, followed by one long knock. "Speak of the devil," Serena said. "That's Jerry."

"How can you be sure?" Luna asked.

"That's his knock," Serena said. "The first four notes of Beethoven's Fifth."

"In that case," Luna said, "I think I'll make my exit."

"Please stick around," Serena said. "If I'm going to be honest with Jerry, I'm not just going to tell him how I feel about him, if you know what I mean."

"If you think it's a good idea," Luna said.

"I need to talk to you," Jerry said, when Serena answered the door.

"I think I know what you want to talk to me about," Serena said, as they went to her bedroom. "I want to talk about the same thing. Actually, there's a couple things I want to talk about."

As they got to her room, she closed the door. Jerry knew exactly what that meant. It was the same as if they were in his room and he closed the door. Things were about to be said that were to never leave the room. It was as Serena closed the door he noticed Luna. "When did you get a cat?" Jerry asked.

"She just showed up this morning," Serena said. "She's actually part of what I'm about to tell you. I don't know if you heard anything about Sailor Moon."

"You mean, that girl who saved the day earlier at Tri City Park?" Jerry asked.

"What would you say if I told you that I'm Sailor Moon?" Serena asked."

"I'd ask your cat just how bad you freaked out when you heard her speak for the first time," Jerry said.

"She took it a lot better than i expected," Luna said.

"I already knew you were Sailor Moon," Jerry said. "I figured it out when you hugged me after you did that move with your tiara."

"You are Golden Hawk," Serena said. "When I hugged you, it felt like you, but I wasn't sure."

"So how did you become Sailor Moon?" Jerry asked.

"Luna gave me this brooch, which gives me the ability to transform," Serena said, showing Jerry her transformation brooch. "Now how about you?"

"Turns out I'm a mutant," Jerry said. "Just like the X-Men. I have the ability to tap into an alien dimension. I've spent the last year training myself to harness it, and what powers it gives me. So far, I've discovered super strength, super speed, enhanced agility, flight, increased durability, teleportation, and the ability to fire energy blasts from my hands. I also have a staff that I can transform into any weapon I can think of. There are other powers, I just haven't discovered them yet. And of course, I have a black belt, so there's always that. And I meant what I said about always being there for you, either as myself or as Golden Hawk."

"So what about the entrance from thin air?" Serena asked. "Or disappearing in a cloud of smoke?"

"I thought that, at least when I'm Golden Hawk," Jerry said, "I should have a flair for theatrics."

"Well, you definitely know how to make an entrance," Serena said. "As well as an exit."

"Yes he does," Luna said.

"You'll have to excuse me," Jerry said. "I'm still adjusting to the whole talking cat thing."

"If it makes you feel better," Serena said, "so am I."

"But anywho," Jerry said, as he went to open the door, "I think it's about time we address the proverbial eight hundred pound gorilla in the room."

"You mean, what I did at the DMV yesterday," Serena said.

"I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel anything when you kissed me," Jerry said. "I felt a spark."

"I felt a little something, too," Serena said. "It made me realize something."

"That Andie should have ended up with Duckie?" Jerry asked.

"You think that too?" Serena replied.

:Well yeah," Jerry said. "It was so obvious he loved her, even Stevie Wonder could see it."

"I know, right?" Serena said. "But we're not talking about Pretty in Pink."

"I know," Jerry said. "But I liked that movie because I saw us in Andie and Duckie. I may not always have Duckie's sense of style, but I would have definitely jumped Steffy if he badmouthed you like that, even if I did get my ass handed to me on a silver platter."

"I pretty much remember Duckie holding his own in that fight," Serena said. "But I know what you mean."

"I've been in love with you since the day we first met," Jerry said. "All this time, I've just been too stupid to realize it."

"Gerald Christopher Logue, one thing you definitely are not is stupid," Serena said. "I mean, you taught yourself to read before your second birthday, that alone is as far from stupid as I've ever seen. And one more thing, I've been in love with you since we first met."

"I remember the day we first met," Jerry said.

FLASHBACK

FULLERTON, CALIFORNIA

JUNE 21, 1980

1:30 PM

"Your mother and I discussed this," Jerry Lee Logue said to the 10 year old boy sitting next to him in the cab of his 1979 Chevrolet pickup. "We feel this is for your own good."

"Being held back a grade?" Jerry Logue asked. "I did really well in school last year."

"It has nothing to do with that," Jerry Lee said. "You actually should be going into fifth grade this fall anyways. Your mother and I had you start kindergarten a year late because we didn't think you were emotionally ready at the time. We're having you held back because having that extra year to mature emotionally will do you good. And look at the bright side, living with Bonnie and I means you won't get shipped off to your grandparents in Arizona for the summer."

"There is that," Jerry said. "And about Bonnie."

"I already discussed it with her," Jerry Lee said. "You don't have to call her mom if you're not comfortable with it. She's not trying to replace your mother. Speaking of your mother, you will be going with her next month when she goes on the houseboat for a week, and aside from that, you'll be able to visit her whenever you're not in school. And speaking of school, you'll be able to ride your bike, instead of taking the bus."

"I'd like to ride my bike to school," Jerry said.

"And I'll find someone to continue your guitar lessons," Jerry Lee said.

Once they got home, and brought all Jerry's stuff in, he rode his bike, he had a Mongoose bike with chrome frame and forks, and black mag wheels, he was wearing a white T-shirt with the logo of the KISS Army on the front, blue corduroy shorts, white socks with blue stripes, and 2-tone blue Vans slip-ons. He rode down the street that was right across the street from his new house, and when he got to the end, a girl brought her bike out of the garage of the last house. She had blonde hair in a ponytail, she rode a powder blue Schwinn with a girl's frame and a banana seat, and was wearing a pink T-shirt, white shorts, light pink socks that folded over, and white Keds. "You're new in the neighborhood," the girl said when she saw him. "My name's Serena."

"I'm Jerry," he said.

"Wanna be friends?" Serena asked.

"Okay," Jerry said.

END OF FLASHBACK

"We had a lot of fun hanging out that summer," Jerry said.

"The start of a beautiful friendship," Serena said.

"I love you," Jerry said, as he kissed Serena with as much passion as he could muster.

"I love you," Serena said. "So where do we go from here?"

"Anywhere we want," Jerry said.
