Chapter One
Location: Monarch Outpost 01, Seoul, South Korea
Timedate: 20th January 2018
Somewhere outside the city of Seoul, one of the lesser-known top secret facilities had already been established. Fenced off from any and all of the public, the foundations of this outpost were unknown to all but the very people within the borders. A crew of excavators dug away into the deep quarry, while a group of scientists observed and studied the happenings occurring in the area, and a team of trained military agents kept good enough watch over the gates and fences.
There within the centre of the quarry and the outpost, laying still peacefully asleep, was an ancient reptilian beast of about five-hundred feet from head to tail. A long nasal horn sat upon the tip of its snout, while tusks were shown from the sides of its mouth, spiked pads rested on its shoudlers, and a column of dorsal plates ran down its back to the end of its tail. Venting from its nostrils, its very warm breath filled the very atmosphere.
Behind a wide thick window and a vast illuminating control panel, two scientists observed the sleeping titan. One of them, a slightly younger woman, looked on with wide eyes of both curiosity and a slight hint of uncertainty and anxiety. The other however, a slightly older man, stared with mild, unfazed eyes, as if the very sight of a gigantic beast from times forgotten was a mere everyday occurrence to him.
"You sure this is a safe operation?" The female scientist turned her head to her partner and questioned.
"I expect it to be, Hyo-jin," the male scientist responded. "Monarch hires the best from nearly each and every nation, and they expect the best".
"Of course, Hyun," Hyo-jin nodded with a small yet noticeable increase of certainty. "But I'm not too sure about Dr Campbell. He seems a bit unhinged, speaking about some prophecy regarding the creature, he acts as if he was destined to find it and possibly even use it for some kind of purpose".
"I shouldn't take him too seriously," Hyun assured. "As long as Dr Wendel Hughes and Dr Holly Davis are here, they'll keep Campbell in place and from doing anything reckless. It takes Americans to know Americans after all".
"And as for the Titan itself?" Hyo-Jin asked.
"So far, it doesn't seem disturbed or deterred by our containment, observations, or examinations for the past five months," Hyun deduced. "And even then, if it does wake up, it'd be wise to not attack to first. From what I heard about the creatures in Sollgell Island last month, they can be peaceful as long as they keep to their territory, and we keep to ours".
Assured enough, Hyo-jin turned her head back at the massive organism well ahead in front of her, remembering the stories she had heard about: such as the alpha primate of Skull Island and the alpha predator in San Franscisco. Would this enormous reptilian be friend or foe...?
