Sylvie Elizabeth Brett looked at her apartment smiling as she touched the famous door "it's not goodbye old friend I will be back I need this moment to escape it's all too much." Sylvie said as she let the tears fall "I fell in love with him, miss our talks, miss the banter most of all." Sylvie said once more as she wheeled out her big suitcase, she carried it down the stairs and then wheels out the front door once the driver spots her, he takes the very large suitcase "Chicago O'Hare please." Sylvie said as she sits in the backseat as they pull away from the curb knowing Sylvie will never get this chance again.
Kelly and Stella had their morning sex Matt rolled his eyes looking at the text message he just recived he didn't feel like leaving when the bed finally stopped hitting the wall then the words "DAMN!" could be heard Matt just sighed Sylvie just up and left the engaged couple has no idea "I just came back for the damn wedding hoping to dance with you." Matt said as Kelly came out smirking then stopped "whats the matter?" Kelly asked as Matt slid his phone over "that! That is what bothering me." Kelly reread that he turned away Sylvie just up and left then Stella comes out with a smirk as well rolling her eyes "didn't mean to make you uncomfortable had no idea I forgot you where staying here." Stella said as Matt slammed his hand down on the counter "SYLVIE JUST FUCKING LEFT!" Matt said as Stella checked her phone looking at the text message Good morning Stella I am texting to inform you I will not be in the wedding or as matter of fact in the wedding wish you and the Lieutenant a lot of happiness and luck best of wishes Sylvie also do not try to contact me for I have a new number. Stella looked up with tears out of her eyes "Sylvie just told me she wasn't going to be here for the wedding and that do not call her for she changed her number." Stella said as she looked at Kelly as he threw something across the room letting it shatter as he grabbed his keys and wallet left the loft. Leaving two stunned people in his wake.
Kelly arrived at the apartment Sylvie's place always held the information he remember playing video games with the three of them the laughter and the banter was contagious nobody knew which direction neither would take once Kelly opened the door it was still furnished the food cleaned out of course looking around for any clues seeing something that caught his eye was strip photos of them making funny faces and one were Sylvie climbed on his lap wrapped her arms around him as he looked at her taking it off the refrigerator flipping it over was a piece of paper gently removing it Kelly sees the toast she was going to do reading it out-loud as Kelly had to sit down "two people who are meant for each other know the risks going in know the risks of the heart, two people who love each other cross that fork, cross that dangerous line, cross the valley's road that leads to you both. Kelly said out-loud he knows that Sylvie would never get the courage to say it going into her room to find anything when he does the cabin trip after Otis their favorite picture of the two of them Kelly smiled as he held it putting it back into its place seeing what she packed in her closet it wasn't much seeing a catalog of Venus on her bed he flipped through it seeing the colorful marked pages seeing the broken down bags knowing she washed and packed them all Kelly knows she didn't bring Matt with her so who is she running from then Kelly went wide eyed "me, Sylvie left for me." Kelly said as he removes his pager seeing its Stella "love you to Sylvie, wished you told me give me clues baby girl please." Kelly said knowing it was wishful thinking as he kept it open knowing he had the key to the place he never gave them back locking up the apartment that held the memories of him nothing more or less. Kelly sighed as he shook his head letting the tears fall "should have made more memories with you before you left." Kelly said as he was torn up about all of this Kelly knew it was too much for Sylvie to handle, she was fighting her heart where he kept toying with her it's his stupid fault that Sylvie up and left. Kelly however ditched work and went to his mom instead she was his best friend always steered him straight on anything.
The firehouse wasn't in much better shape no one couldn't believe that she up and left Stella the newfound bride came in trying to act cheery but failed when looking at all the others "look okay I get it Sylvie not being here is putting a damper on everyone let's get through the day and look on the brighter side of things." Stella said as Mouch stood up "boy you really do not get it, its sad Kidd that you are the only blind one in this firehouse!" Mouch said as he shut off the television stormed out of the common room as others followed expect for Chris, Gallo, and Ritter "look, Kidd. To you it's easy to say because we all have memories of her good and bad but look at from our view to Mouch, Sylvie was like a daughter to him they would fatherly conversations even some serious matters Joe and Otis were brothers to her and Severide was always in that mix of things they had ice cream conversations but that stopped I knew this would happen Sylvie leaving it was bound to." Chris said as he walked away Gallo had no idea anymore, but something was up he was fully alert now when Ritter said "where exactly is Severide?" They both exchanged glances neither one said anything just kept quiet and prayed the bride to be wouldn't blow steam.
Kelly didn't bother calling he wanted to ask the questions and listen to the answers as the car was turned off Kelly got out as he closed the door knocking on the wooden door as he stepped back when the door opened "you told me once before I would be like Benny, what if I told in the scheme of things fell in love with a paramedic that replaced Shay, but now I am in loveless soon to be marriage we both know what would have happened if she didn't leave." Kelly said as he fell to his knees and just cried as Jennifer Sheridan hugged her son not saying a word just offering motherly comfort to her son, not know what do or say as Kelly calmed down his pager went off as Jennifer let go Kelly got up "today is going to be rough the wedding is three days I have to find her before those days are up or I will be just like Benny." Kelly said as he opened the car door he called Stella to tell him he was visiting his mom that he was on his way back to the city.
Sylvie couldn't believe Hawaii airlines was here this was it beach all day everyday wishing that her heart was here but it was with someone else "goodbye today hello tomorrow." Sylvie said as she had a full month to decide what she would do in the meantime everything was were at should be flying to California then Hawaii in Waikiki once 1st class was called Sylvie stepped forward when can you ever get the chance to fly 1st class to Hawaii and back if she decides to come back taking a good look at the view of the Chicago skyline she boards the plane sits window seat it was the only she would come and go pulling out a book If You Were Mine by Melanie Harlow this is the third of series she packed another book series Vengeful of Let Me and Break Me by K.V. Rose lastly the Texas Night Series by Lex Martian as the plane left the gate feeling the tears of pain in her chest knowing she was leaving him behind without a word or trace he is way too smart for his own good the tears fell as she quietly sobbed as the plane takes to the runway going at high speed they lift off as she screams into her sleeve the pain of it will go away nothing will be able to take his place in the spot of her own heart, she wouldn't let them. Closing her eyes Sylvie whispered, "make each day count." Sylvie opened her eyes as the skyline of Chicago was just tiny faction of the past behind.
Arriving back to the firehouse Kelly's heart hurt with each step forward was the moment she left, the moment the laughter stopped, the moment she sat down at his table. It was all tiny moments "Severide, I can't touch Sylvie's locker Stella wants it, anyways the Chief approved it so please for me?" Matt Ryan Casey said Kelly takes the box from him the tiny voice in his head 'make the wife happy it's okay I am okay just needed space I will be back after the vows.' Kelly whispered as he let the tears fall his heart hurt the that little black book that Kelly would read later on outside the light green book that held everything it was like a passing nobody wanted to talk about it but nobody wanted to talk about the wedding. Once the last inch of the locker cleaned out Kelly opened the locker next to him placed the box inside it added her last name to it Kelly knew it was a mistake but in reality it felt right to keep her by his side. Kelly tried not to answer his mind in fact it wasn't healthy when he sees a house fire that needed his much needed attention as he looked at it family of four two pets that perished in the fire all the windows where shut and sealed they blamed it on gas leak but their wasn't a gas leak to be seen Kelly knew to contact Wendy from arson investigations as he dialed Stella came into his office as he held up his hand "yeah, just looked at the file on my desk you up for a ride later on or want to wait until my shift?" Kelly asked as he glanced at Stella knowing she was jealous this was the piece of the puzzle that was starting to fit but kept it quiet moving on right to marriage bliss, "yeah, after shift works for me see you then." then the dial tone as Kelly put down the landline phone as Stella once more tried to engage when the landline rang Kelly hit speaker so his jealous soon-to-be-wife wouldn't ask questions or the nagging later on. "this is Lieutenant Severide how can I help you?" Kelly asked as Stella was intrigued when hearing "you know what I love more than anything? Lieutenant Severide of Fire Rescue Squad 1st Grade at that what's that famous line oh yeah Benny would be so proud of JR boy here, by the way whose fault was it that Andy died?" then call ended as Matt stood in the doorway just gaped as did Stella but was lost she knew that hard core angry look she moved so fast almost collided with Matt watching Kelly call Hank Voight "get a dump on my work landline someone just threatened me or Stella at this point. Kelly hoped that wasn't the case of a firefighter doing this, but it makes since couldn't be anyone here they couldn't stomach something like that not even Casey could pull that off that was a fact seeing how is room was near mine plus wouldn't ruin his career over this, so whom would be stupid to pull this prank and why? Or the biggest question and the more haunting one could she be in mortal danger if so, how he could save her without knowing the location.
Sylvie read halfway through her book still looking out the window of the clouds above them and underneath them mother nature at her finest hours making it rain, shine, snow, in all weathers just makes it beautiful nobody knows the answers we seek some go to Google children ask random adults questions my question is "how can you love someone who will be married in three days while you skip states to Hawaii?" Sylvie whispered as plane hit turbulence Sylvie sees white picture shots of him from laughter, smiles, game day, Molly's Pub. Keeping her closed Sylvie let the tears fall in her mind she shouts, 'love you never let me go, never let me go.'
In the common room Mouch had the news on as he turned it up "flight to California hit massive turbulence some passengers had to go to the hospital for minor to serious injuries no deaths have been reported here in Nevada airport I am Stacey James from channel 7 news." As the firehouse came around as did Kelly who sees the plane near the first-class section as Stella gasped, Matt shook his head not to say it look so Stella kept quiet "Was anyone sitting where the plane ripped off? Stacey?" as Stacey gets back on the air "yes there was a reported passenger by Sylvie Brett to be on board in that section of the plane when it tore off as of now, she is missing persons as they try to locate the person seated next to her as well." Everyone just stopped nobody moved nobody could speak Kelly was numb on the way to Hawaii their Hawaii his eyes moved back and forth this wasn't happening Sylvie wasn't dead she couldn't be ripped from her chair no just no. "FUCK!" Kelly screamed as he went to his knees, he couldn't listen anymore it was noise now it was just fucking noise.
