Beta read by the Gabriella to my Sharpay xxhsmTGxx
Sharpay stood by the treehouse for a second more as she began to process what had just happened. "I guess the universe is on my side for once," she said to herself as she found a spot where she could watch Troy without being super obvious. She was about to pull her phone out to text him when the last person she wanted to see walked up.
"Hi Sharpay!" said the bubbly, annoying as fuck Gabriella Montez.
"Why hello Gabriella" she said in a annoyed tone "Can I help you with something?" The blonde said rolling her eyes. She had no idea what little miss perfect wanted but all Sharpay wanted to do was punch her in the face.
"I just wanted to say I'm really glad you came tonight," the brunette said. "I saw you talking to Troy earlier" she added sounding a little less confident.
"Gabriella, if you came over here to ask me why I was talking to Troy you really need to grow up" the blonde said standing up. "We were talking about playing when we were kids, you know before, you got here and the universe had to revolve around you? There are a lot of things about East High that happened before you graced us with your presence oh perfect one," Sharpay said, mockingly bowing down to Gabriella. "Now if you're done being insecure as fuck I'm going to have a drink" she said pulling her flask out of her purse and taking a pull.
Gabriella was about to say something when Troy walked up "Everything okay over here ladies?" His eyes darted back and forth between the two girls.
"Oh Troysie everything is fine" Sharpay said biting her lip and looking at the glittery kiss print on his collarbone. "Gabriella just wanted to know why we were talking" she said giggling before she took another drink and handed the flask to Troy who took a pull to the shock of Gabriella.
"Troy, you can't drink!" Gabriella said. "It's illegal"
Sharpay fell over in her seat laughing. "Oh calm down,Montez. One drink won't kill your perfect little Wildcat" Her eyes flashed to Troy.
"Gabby chill its not a big deal, let's go say hi to my mom" he said reaching for her hand and walking off.
Sharpay felt sick to her stomach. She knew he had to wait for the right moment but didn't know how much more of this she could take.
Gabriella looked up as Troy as they walked over to where is mother was. "Why do you have pink glitter on you?" She said stopping and inspecting the now smudged kiss print. Troy began to panic, trying to think of an excuse that his brainiac girlfriend would believe.
"I bumped into Sharpay while she was putting lipglosson and I was a casualty of the pink glitter massacre" he said laughing hoping she would buy it.
"My poor Wildcat," she said, giggling not even questioning the story that is how much she trusted him, or how desperate she was to keep him. While they were busy talking to Troy's mom about Stanford and how great the party was Troy couldn't stop thinking about Sharpay.
Lisa Bolton knew her son had something on his mindand she had a feeling it was Sharpay. Yes, Gabriella was a nice enough girl…but how Troy acted around Gabriella versus Sharpay was like night and day. Around Gabriella she felt like he walked on eggshells carefully thinking about what he would say or do, try to live up to this perfect guy she had built him up to be, but around Sharpay he could just be himself. He wasn't as tense. When the conversation ended Lisa walked over to Sharpay and sat down next to her.
"Having fun sweetie?" she asked, patting the blonde's hands.
Sharpay looked at Lisa and sighed "I was having a great time until about twenty minutes ago," she admitted, not caring at this point.
"Sharpay, you know I've always loved you and it made me so sad when you stopped coming around with the gang once Gabriella moved here." She said with a heavy sigh, "I don't think he is happy. He isn't himself and it's just so frustrating to see as a mother"
Sharpay looked at her a little shocked "Oh, I know, Mrs. Bolton…but of course if I said anything like that they would hate me more than they already do." She said with sadness in her voice.
"Troy has never hated you, he has always tried to include you but she won't let him," Lisa said, turning to face the blonde. "He has?" Sharpay said, quickly blinking back tears.Troy had never given up on her like she thought. "Why is he with her, Mrs. Bolton?"
"I think it was just peer pressure and assumption to be honest. He had never really gotten much say on the matter and she won't let him go without a fight. I thought you two would finally get together this summer but as, you know, that didn't happen," she said while rolling her eyes. "I'm rooting for you, Sharpay. I want you to know that." She hugged the blonde. "Now hide that flask before Jack sees," she whispered before taking a quick drink to Sharpay's shock.
"Mrs. Bolton you are wild," she giggled as she put the flask in her purse. "If I'm going to make it through the rest of this party listening to Ms. Montez go on and on about her perfect daughter then I need it." She said standing up. "You can go wait in Troy's room if you want." She gave a knowing look.
"Thank you, Mrs. Bolton," she said hugging the woman. "Sharpay, call me Lisa. You don't need to call me Mrs. Bolton." She added, "You aren't Gabriella." She walked back over to where all the parents were standing.
Sharpay stood up and saw Troy and Gabriella up in the tree house causing her stomach to drop. That was their place it had been since childhood but he was up there with her and there were no signs of a breakup in process. Troy locked eyes with Sharpay and gave her a knowing look hoping she wouldn't leave. "Soon" he mouthed before she turned away walking into the Bolton's house.
"Okay what is up with you and Sharpay?" Gabriella said crossing her arms with a pouty look on her face. "Is she backto her old tricks? I swear she will regret it this time," the brunette fumed. "Gaby chill" Troy said pulling her into a hug. "Leave Sharpay out of this for once. Not everything is some conspiracy to break us up" he said. "But there are some things we need to talk about, we are going to different colleges and long distance isn't easy," he said, bracing himself for the talk they were about to have.
"You should apply to Stanford," Gabriela blurted out. Troy couldn't do anything but laugh. "You know I'm going to the U of A. I'm not going to ditch my plans to follow you to California like some pathetic lap dog," he said a little annoyed. "I just think we need to take a few days and really seriously think about if this relationship is coming to an end" he said, not wanting to make eye contact with her.
"Troy, where is this coming from? I thought we were going to try any possible way to make this work," she said her voice shaking a bit "Are you breaking up with me?" She asked looking straight at him, "This is our senior year we should spend it together." She started to cry. Troy hugged the brunette. "Gaby I just think it may be time. We've had an amazing time together, but we can't hold onto the past to keep a relationship going. We want different things and we aren't the same people we were a year ago," he added knowing it was true.
"Is there someone else," she asked.
"No, there isn't" Troy said knowing it was a lie. "Look let's just take the weekend, process all this, and talk again on Monday," he said, kissing her on the cheek.
Meanwhile Sharpay was in Troy's room looking around. She hadn't been in there since sophomore year. She hated seeing all of the pictures of him and Gabriella together. "What amI doing?" She said to herself, "He's never going to leave her." She wondered if she should even bother waiting on Troy. She was about to get up and leave when the boy of her dreams opened up the door "Hi Pay" he said, rushing over to her pulling her into a tight hug. She was about to fight it but sunk into his arms.
"I like you calling me Pay" she said into his chest. She pulled away and looked at him. "Are you really going to breakup with her for me? If you got caught up in the moment just be honest with me," she added, fighting the tears burning in her eyes.
"Whoa, where is this coming from?" Troy watched her fighting tears.
"I just saw all of these pictures of you with her and then I saw you with her in the treehouse talking and it just made me feel so stupid" she said letting a few tears fall. "I don't want to end up being the one getting hurt in all this like I did over summer. My heart can't take it, Troy" she said showing a side of herself he had never fully seen. "You crushed me, Troy. I'm still not okay from it. I cried everyday for months."
Troy felt like a total douche. He had hurt the one girl he truly loves. "Sharpay, I was telling her I think it's time we break up, that we are in different places in life, that it's not going to work long distance. She even asked me to follow her to Stanford," he said, rolling his eyes. "I told her I'm going to U of A, that it was my plan. We are going to talk again on Monday and I'm officially ending it because I want to be with the girl I should've been with all along, Miss. Sharpay Evans," he said, laying her on the bed and holding her tightly.
"I'm just scared, Troy. That time in the treehouse tonight was like a dream come true for me and I don't want to get to school Monday and have all of it taken away," she said, snuggling into his chest.
"Pay, that is never going to happen. I promise you," he said, quickly getting up from the bed.
"What on earth are you doing now Bolton?" she saidwith a confused look on her face as he gathered the pictures of Gabriella and threw them in the trash. He then went to his desk and pulled out a picture of the two of them from the summer placing the frame by his bed. "You still have that," the blonde said while biting her lip. "I have it by my bed," she admitted, "I couldn't bear getting rid of it." He said, "Gaby thinks I did but I look at it almost everyday," he admitted, turning a bit red.
"Get over here" she said, pulling him into a kiss, and after a quick make out session, Troy got an idea. "I think the party can go on without me," he said, getting up and locking his bedroom door quickly changing into his sweats and a T-shirt. "My hoodie looks great on you," he said, handing her a pair of his sweats. "That outfit can't be comfortable for snuggling babe" he said. turning around so she could change.
"Such a gentleman Troysie" she said, getting under the covers of his bed she felt like she was dreaming.
Troy got in the bed and pulled her close. "You are staying with me tonight," he said going through movies for them to watch.
"Something scary," she said, reminding him of her love of horror movies.
"Perfect," he said, finding one and turning it on the only light in the room coming from the TV.
"And yes, I want to stay over but what about your parents?" she asked.
"I don't think my mom will mind she loves you," he said, kissing the top of her head.
While the party was winding down Gabriella was searching for Troy to say goodbye but couldn't find him."Mrs. Bolton, have you seen Troy?" she asked, hoping his mom would tell her where her boyfriend well whatever he is at the moment was.
"Oh Gabriella, sweetie, he is in bed. He got sick and I gave him some medicine to help him sleep," she said, knowing he was probably with Sharpay. "I'll tell him you said goodbye" she said hugging the girl.
After Gabriella left Jack looked at his wife. "Mrs. Bolton what are you up to?" he asked while pulling her into a kiss.
"Making sure our son is happy and doing what he wants with his life," she said to her husband. "Now let's get this cleaned up and go to bed," she said, grabbing the trash bags.
