"Last one to April's hatched from a rotten egg!" Leo called, running off over the rooftops.
"No fair, you had a headstart!" Mikey yelled back, as the others chased him.
Leo laughed, looking over his shoulder, not paying attention, until something tripped him. He rolled, landing safely on his feet, and growling, grabbing his sword from his belt.
He had been tripped by a Yokai that held a pipe for a weapon. As Leo's brothers caught up, three more Yokai came out of hiding. One let out a laugh. Raph let out a squeak.
"Well, well, well." The Yokai holding the pipe laughed. He was a mutated rodent, dressed in an old-timey purple suit, with a hat to match. His outfit and the way held his pipe strongly resembled... Donnie. "If it isn't 'Heinous Green'."
"Really?" Another Yokai piped up. This Yokai was a white fox with red markings along their fur. They wore a leather jacket with spikes and ripped sleeves and a belt that held many short knives. "This is the idiot you guys mistook for Heinous Green?"
"To be fair, the police mistook him first. And when we asked him, he said he was." The third Yokai replied. This Yokai was an electric eel, with freckles and an orange band around his gills that might have helped him breathe. He also had an orange t-shirt with scribbles and drawings on it. He snapped his tail, electric sparks flying from it.
"Raph, what are they talking about?" Leo asked.
Raph growled. "A long time ago, the police mistook me for a big-time criminal, and threw me in the back of a police snail with these three." He explained. "I was trying to play along and get them caught after they used me to escape police custody. Then Big Mama figured it out..."
The fourth Yokai laughed. "You mean your friends haven't heard of us? We're the Mud Dogs." This Yokai's species was harder to determine. He looked like a furry version of Leo. He had black hair, a blue head band and a jacket with no sleeves. He also had fangs. "I'm Loathsome Leonard. These are Dastardly Danny," he indicated the rat wearing the purple suit, "Malicious Mickey," he pointed to the electric eel in the orange shirt, "and our newest member, Ruthless Red." He waved at the white fox Yokai.
"Why would Big Mama send you to attack us? Instead of... anybody else?" Raph demanded, holding his sai tightly.
"Big Mama ain't our boss anymore." Dastardly Danny replied. "The princess is."
"Princess? What princess?" Donnie demanded.
Malicious Mickey laughed. "Princess Amingethia of course! The princess of all of Hell."
Ruthless Red jumped down from the ledge they were perched on, pulling a few blades from their belt. "The princess wants us to test your strength, skill and speed."
"Basically..." Dastardly Danny twirled his pipe. "She wants us to tell her how you fight."
The turtles gripped their weapons tighter. Ruthless Red threw knives. Leo blocked knife after knife with his sword, feeling that now familiar tingling sensation when his power was ready to use. He leapt at the fox, who aimed a knife at his chest. Leo teleported to behind Ruthless Red, landing a hit.
Dastardly Danny swung his pipe. Raph caught it with his sai. He took a breath and tapped into his power, using the enhanced speed and strength to quickly disarm the rat Yokai.
Malicious Mickey snapped his electric tail at Donnie, who was already calculating how to use this new enemy's power against him. Dodging attacks of electric shocks by the skin of his teeth, Donnie clicked a button on his new, half-tech half-magic staff, and a couple wires wrapped around Malicious Mickey. Donnie stabbed the roof with his staff, grounding the electricity.
Loathsome Leonard was able to dodge Mikey's nunchucks, but not the fire that Mike had learned to embrace and control. The small explosion threw them both backwards. Mikey landed on his feet. Loathsome Leonard did not. He landed flat on his face.
Dastardly Danny was thrown into Loathsome Leonard as he was trying to get up. Ruthless Red managed to evade Leo long enough to get to Malicious Mickey, who was trying desperately to shock Donnie while also trying to get out of the wires. Ruthless Red threw some knives at Donnie, who leapt backwards to not get stabbed.
"Cut me loose!" Malicious Mickey yelled.
"Stop zapping then! I can't cut the wire when you zap!" Ruthless Red snapped.
"Mud Dogs! We got our information! Fall back!" Loathsome Leonard yelled.
Ruthless Red cut the wires entrapping Malicious Mickey. "Since when were you in charge?!"
"I'm the blue guy! Blue guy's always the leader!"
"Shut your food holes! Let's get outta here!" Dastardly Danny yelled, taking off.
"They're getting away!" Raph growled.
"Let them go. We beat them." Leo stopped him.
"But-"
"No. All they wanted was to fight. They can tell their 'princess' that we're not somebody she wants to mess with." Leo replied, turning away. "Let's go. April's waiting for us."
