Law and Luffy have been hanging out for quite a while now but she's still wondering why the guy has been refusing her offer to be friends with her. She never had a hard time making friends with anyone before. Law was different among all the friends Luffy has anyway. He is a challenge to her that's why she's so happy just by being aknowledge by him.
'Did I hear it right? Torao and i are friends now?'
Luffy couldn't contain the happiness she's feeling, she wanted to jump for joy. She's over the moon with her thoughts that she hasn't noticed she's been smiling a lot.
Law on the other hand was clueless on why the girl was smiling like she just completed a hard quest in a game.
The woman raised a brow and eyed Law suspiciously.
"I can see that anyone could become Luffy's friend irrespective of age." she said with a hint of sarcasm.
Law wasn't sure of what to feel by the woman's statement. He felt a slight annoyance but he didn't ponder on it for too long.
"I am Boa Hancock, one of Luffy-chan's personal tutors and.. 'friend'."
The woman's voice was firm and full of conviction like she's implying that she's not just a friend to Luffy. He's not sure but he felt like the stares she's giving him were like those that can pierce a human alive.
"Well anyway, let's get inside, we have so many things to talk about..." She paused and gently looked at Luffy.
"...Luffy." She continued.
Her words were threatening but when she mentioned Luffy's name it's like she became gentle or was it just his imagination?
When they entered the classroom, there were only about 8 to 10 students inside. All of them are waving at Luffy like they just saw an angel that could save them from their miseries.
Hancock dismissed the class which made the students leave the classroom aside from the three that remained seated on their seat, the roaster head boy Luffy called Barto earlier, a short haired girl and a pink haired girl. The three of them are whispering about something in their seats.
Luffy and Law are seated across the teacher's table. Law was thinking what the hell is he doing there. He felt like he was a parent being summoned because his child did something wrong.
He's not even sure if he would be worried that the teacher might scold Luffy or not because of the conversation the two are having in front of him.
"I'm telling you the truth Hammock! I was really busy, that's why i couldn't make it to your classes these past few days." Luffy complained.
Law doesn't know where this audacity of Luffy is coming from, talking to her teacher like that, it's like she's just talking to a close friend. What is he's expecting anyway, when they first met Luffy was also talking with him casually like they were just some normal friends who haven't met for years. She's not also pronouncing the teacher's name properly, it's like it's already a habit of her not to make a little effort to pronounce names correctly but she doesn't seem to mind it.
"Is that so?" Hancock put her hands in her chin, like she's already used to this situation.
Luffy nodded several times.
Law is sure that Hancock doesn't buy Luffy's words but he almost curses when she lets out a sigh completely defeated by Luffy's obviously lame excuse.
"Alright. I will let this pass, but not next time."
"Really?! Thank you Hammock!" Luffy smiles at woman in front of her.
While Law was just staring at the two girls in front of him. He can't believe what just transpired in front of him. How could they talk casually like that? The woman seems to have a strict personality but she's like softening when it comes to Luffy.
It's not like he wanted Luffy to have some sort of a punishment but it would feel right if they would do so, only a fool would buy Luffy's excuse earlier.
"Let's go Torao! I will introduce you to my friends!" Luffy held his hand that made him stand up, but before they could leave, Hancock spoke.
"Mind if I speak with Mr. Trafalgar for a moment, Luffy?"
Luffy stares at the woman, back to Law before she let go of his hand and nodded.
"Sure. I will just go talk to Barto and the others." Luffy pointed at the three people seated on the corner of the classroom.
Law and Hancock watch Luffy as she approaches the three, he saw how the Barto boy touches Luffy's arm and offers the seat beside him.
"Calm down, Trafalgar. He's not going to eat Luffy."
Law turned to look at the woman who's now smirking in front of him.
He doesn't know but he felt like he had already seen her before. Her annoying presence was familiar.
"What do you mean?" He cleared his throat.
"It's been a while, you've changed a lot. Donquixote Trafalgar Law."
He's confused because the woman seemed to know him especially that she just called him by his last name.
"Do i know you?"
She put her hand in her mouth like she couldn't believe what he just asked.
"Ara. How could you forget about me, the campus beauty Boa Hancock."
Law recalled where he heard that name before. When Law finally remembers, he looks straight into the woman's eyes.
"Ah."
Hancock's smirk slowly faded and was replaced with an annoyance.
"Don't just 'Ah' me! I can't believe that's the only thing you'll say after all those years!" She almost yelled but calmed herself trying not to catch the attention of the students.
That's right. It's no doubt. She's that annoying woman he met in college. The one who's always competing with him but always fails. He thought she would pursue her dream of becoming a surgeon. He's a bit surprised she's now a teacher..
"What is it that you want to speak with me?" He asked.
Hancock became serious and sat straight in her chair.
"How did you become friends with Luffy?"
Out of all the questions, why would she ask him that? He's now having an idea that she really has this possessiveness over Luffy.
"I don't think i am obliged to answer that." He answered.
Hancock glared at him. Law just remained silent. She crossed her arms and changed the topic. Knowing that Law wouldn't say a thing if he doesn't want to.
"You seem successful now Trafalgar. As you should! otherwise, my sacrifice would've been put to waste." She said proudly.
Law narrowed his eyes at the woman trying to figure out what on earth is she talking about.
"As you can see, i quit medical school back when you got the scholarship abroad. When you left, i later on found out it's not actually what i wanted to do."
She leaned on her chair and played a lock on her hair.
Now he already recalled what 'sacrifice' she's been blabbering about. Back then, there was an offer for an opportunity to study abroad. Hancock and Law was considered the best of the best in the university that there were only the two of them that have qualified to take the exam. Hancock was very desperate back then because it was her dream to study abroad that she became really angry when she found out Law got the scholarship. He did felt bad a little for her but he doesn't have any other choice, he's focused on his goals back then that he didn't care of what or who will get hurt just for him to succeed.
But seeing her now, he's glad that things were going well for her.
"I soon realize i love this kind of profession. I am thankful i pursued this rather than being a surgeon." Hancock smiled gently.
Law remembered her being very intelligent back then, he almost thought she could have surpassed him if she had tried harder before, he didn't mind though, because he wasn't studying for competition; he just wanted to get a degree. But why is she in a small town living as simple teacher? Not that he's judging her though.
"Do you know what made me stay here? In this small town when i have the beauty and brains to teach abroad?" She laughed.
Law was just poker faced at the woman who hasn't changed in years. Still full of herself. But what she said next was the thing that intrigued him.
"Because of a certain girl whose idiocy is out of this world, but still far more intelligent than me."
