Together Breakfast

Hours later, after the gems made it back to land, the first thing Steven did was change into his pajamas and brush his teeth before going right to sleep, resting after the events regarding the collapse of the sea spire. Even the gems took a moment to rest up, feeling physically and mentally drained.

By morning, the gems were off handling more business that came up, leaving Steven alone in the house.

At the moment, he was pushing the window open and looking out the window, , feeling the gentle breeze enter the house, watching the sun rise up while awaiting the return of the Crystal Gems, saying, "Everyone's out. Guess I'm making us breakfast."

He got up from his seat by the window and started to prep a breakfast out of his wildest dreams that he felt the gems would love to eat. He ransacked all the cupboards and cabinets, littering open boxes of cereal and cans of other food on the countertops as he gathered everything he needed to make his breakfast masterpiece.

The first thing that he gathered was a box of toaster waffles and a bottle of syrup. He then pulled out two waffles and popped them in the nearby toaster, cooking them for a minute before they popped out, which he then grabbed and stacked together on a plate with two additional waffles he toasted afterwards. Then, after the waffles were stacked together, he opened the bottle of syrup and drizzled some onto the waffles.

Steven then took a minute to try and see if the gems might've already come home while he was busy, knocking on the temple door and calling out, "Pearl! Garnet! Amethyst! Moonstone! Is anyone home"?

When no one answered, he went back to making breakfast, starting with the next step; he placed some bags of unpopped popcorn in the microwave, then closed the door and pressed the "popcorn" feature on it. A few seconds later, the microwave DINGED, signaling that it was done, which allowed Steven to open the door and pull out 3 bags of freshly popped popcorn before he brought the bags over to the counter, opened them, and drizzled the popcorn onto the waffles.

Steven then took another break and went over to the warp pad to see if the gems were gonna warp in. He sat down by the warp pad, saying while counting down when he thought that they'd arrive, "One, two, three... warp in"!

When the gems failed to show up upon him finishing his countdown, he deduced, "Guess they're still out saving the world," and went back to making breakfast.

Steven then picked up a long container of whipped cream and sprayed some on top of the waffles. His breakfast was starting to come together, and it looked like his wildest dreams about it were becoming a reality, making Steven comment to himself, "Look at you. You are out of control."

Taking another break to see if the gems were outside, he stepped out onto the porch and called out, "Pearl! Garnet! Moonstone! Amethyst"! But still, no one came, which meant that they were still out handling business of some sort.

Bringing his attention back to his food, Steven then picked up one strawberry and carefully eyed it, trying to find the perfect place to put it, before he slowly lowered it on top pf the whipped cream pulling his hand back slowly when he was done.

When he was finished, his breakfast meal looked truly perfect as he held it up victoriously and excitedly declared, "It's done"!

He placed the player of food down and laid belly-first on the counter right next to it, letting out a bored sigh before saying, "That thing's too good for me to eat alone. It's a... together breakfast."

"Note: what's a "together breakfast," a voice very familiar to Steven asked.

Steven gasped and stood back up, turning around and seeing Moonstone enter the house through the front door while carrying a dark green book in her hands.

He smiled and ran up to her, saying, "Moonstone, look! I made us all breakfast for us to eat together"!

Moonstone then frowned, telling Steven while holding a free hand over her stomach while holding the book in her other hand, "Oh, I'm sorry, Steven, but I can't; I already ate breakfast a few minutes ago."

Steven's initial happy stance turned sad, with his eyes glistening in sadness as he stammered, "Huh? But-but, I...I-"

Moonstone then formed a cheeky smile and winked at Steven, saying to him, "Gotcha."

Realizing that Moonstone was playing around with him, Steven came to it and realized the joke, commenting, "Oh! I get it," as he and Moonstone both broke into laughter.

Moonstone then patted Steven on the shoulder while saying, "But I'm afraid I really can't eat right now; I have to read up about something very important that Garnet came across while she was out earlier."

"Aww," Steven replied sadly while looking down at the floor.

Moonstone then cheered him up by telling Steven, "But tell you what; save me a fork, and perhaps we can consume this unique dish of yours together with the rest of the team once I return."

"Okay-dokey," Steven replied happily as Moonstone walked over to the temple door and tilted her head forward, her gem glowing. The door had a white star design on it, and each star tip had a white circle, a purple circle, a silvery-grey (Moonstone's moonstone color) circle in the middle of the star, a pink circle, a red circle, and a blue circle. The silvery grey circle glowed to match the color of her moonstone gem, and the door then opened, allowing Moonstone to enter the room before the door closed behind her.

Just then, as Moonstone had left, Garnet entered the house via warp pad, which allowed Steven to run up and greet her, saying while showing her the plate of food he made, " Ah, Garnet! Perfect. Check it out. It's not exactly healthy, but it's in a stack, so I guess you could say it's a... balanced breakfast."

While the joke was very funny and clever, or at least from Steven's perspective, he noticed that Garnet didn't seem to laugh, which led him to clarify, "You know, like, I made us all breakfast. I thought we could eat together like-like best buds."

While it was hard to tell Garnet's facial expression, her answer was simple, "I can't stay. There's a business to attend to inside the temple."

She then turned around and approached the temple door, showing both of her gems at the star, causing the red and blue circles to glow together before the door opened up, showing a different room inside the temple.

Steven, who was watching while feeling sad that Garent wasn't able to stay either, asked while placing the breakfast meal he had made on the counter, "Aw, business? Like what"?

Garnet turned around to face Steven and showed her a rolled-up piece of paper she had, explaining, "I have to burn this," before unraveling the paper and showing an eerie/ominous abstract drawing that was on it.

To a normal human being, it looked very creepy and hard to comprehend, but Steven thought it looked awesome, commenting, "Cool," and took a picture of it with his phone.

That led to Garnet taking his phone and saying, "I have to burn this too," before she turned around and walked into the room.

Steven started to panic when Garnet took his phone, shouting, "No! My apps," and tried to run after her, but the door closed before he could enter the room with Garnet.

He tried to activate the door again by lifting up his shirt, exposing his gem to it, and pressing it against the door while saying, "Door. Open door."

But it didn't work, making Steven lower his shirt and groan out loud as he walked back to the counter, "Aw, you never work when I need it."

Suddenly, the front door busted open, with a purple "male" police officer who was holding a yellow-and-orange water gun entered the household and shouted in a nasally gruff voice, "Dumb police! You are dumb," before shooting water out of the water gun.

Steven gasped, worried that the shot of water was gonna soak the breakfast meal that he made. So, he leaped up, shouting, "Nooooooooooo," and took the hit, getting soaked in the process, but saved the meal.

Then, the "officer" began to laugh in a tone of voice that was easily more recognizable, as "his" head glowed and shapeshifted back into Amethyst's head, revealing that the officer was actually a shape-shifting Amethyst, who was having a good laugh about the joke she pulled out, commenting, "Oh, man. I totally got you! You should have seen the look on your face."

Steven wasn't laughing, but he also wasn't too deterred by the joke, saying as he stood back up, "Oh, I knew it was you."

Amethyst scoffed a bit, asking, "How"?

"'Cause that's a water gun, and I'm not dumb," Steven easily explained while taking his wet shirt off and putting on a new one that he kept in the side closet.

Amethyst then pointed out something that she "noticed" on him, saying, "You got something on your shirt."

That made Steven look down and, unfortunately, made him prone to getting soaked by Amethyst, who shouted, "Duuuuuh-umb," and laughed, enjoying herself, while soaking Steven with her water gun again.

Suddenly, the sound of the temple door alerted them both to turn their heads and see what was going on. The purple gem was glowing, which meant that whoever was inside was also inside Amethyst's room.

Amethyst took notice of this, shape-shifting back into her regular appearance, while declaring, "Hey! That's my door," and ran to see who or what was inside her room.

When the door opened, it revealed Pearl, who was coming out of Amethyst's room, carrying a sword, as she asked Amethyst, "Oh, Amethyst, there you are. Care to explain what one of my swords was doing in your room"?

"Having a sword party," Ametnhyst replied, partially joking but mostly sarcastic.

Pearl, however, didn't buy into it and retorted, "Oh, please. You took it."

"I did not," Amethyst argued back.

Pearl quickly halted the argument by addressing, "It's fine. It's in the past. I forgive you," before adding on with a confident smile, "Also, I cleaned up your awful, awful mess. You're welcome."

Instead of thanking Pearl, Amethyst looked more shocked to hear what Pearl had done to her room, shouting, "You did WHAT!? I have a system," and ran into her room as the door closed behind Amethyst once she entered.

"Amethyst! Wait," Steven shouted, trying to call Amethyst back, but to no avail.

Pearl noticed how upset Steven appeared and asked him, "What's the matter, Steven"?

Steven replied while walking over to show the plate of food he made, "I wanted us all to have breakfast together, so I made Together Breakfast, but everyone keeps leaving."

However, while Steven was talking, Pearl didn't seem to fully listen, answering with a simple, "Oh, that's nice," while her pearl glowed, activating the white circle, which gave her access to enter her room. Pearl walked into her room, which so far appeared to have gigantic cylinder water pillars that poured into a large fountain base, and went into the fountain base, sinking into the water mysteriously.

"Oh, no! Not you too," Steven commented when he saw Pearl leaving.

Determined to share this meal that he made to eat with his friends, Steven held the plate close and said to himself, "I can't let this become together brunch," before running to the temple door and, just in the nick of time, got his arm to block it from fully closing before he squeezed his way into Pearl's room just before the door closed behind him.

Inside, Steven was able to get a full glimpse of what Pearl's room looked like in all of its elegant glory. It had a dark indigo/ light purple sky and an array of red, white, and blue stars that decorated it like the night sky. There was a large golden ribbon-esque decoration at the ceiling that moved downward and split into all the waterfalls that poured out of the fountains, parading all into a giant lake on the floor.

At the top of the main waterfall fountain, Steven saw Pearl, who had emerged from underwater, gracefully dancing with the sword in hand. While doing so, a circular collection of swords in their scabbards formed around her, hovering in the air and circling around her. Pearl looked at her collection and found the scabbard that the sword she was currently holding belonged to, placing it inside while saying, "There we go," before quickly adjusting it so it looked neat and organized.

Steven was silently watching for a short minute before he broke the silence by calling out to Pearl, shouting, "Hey, Pearl"!

That got Pearl's attention, as well as sent the swords back into the water, as Pearl replied while turning around and noticing Steven standing there, "Steven! What are you doing in here? You know it's dangerous for you inside the temple."

She made her pearl glow again, activating the door and making it open so Steven could walk out of her room. But Steven was determined to have together breakfast with his friends, walking away from the open door and towards the lake, saying, "We're gonna have a nice together breakfast, even if I have to get my shoes wet."

When he stepped into the water, it turned out to be a little deeper than expected, the water coming up to around his arms.

Pearl, concerned for Steven's safety and also confused at the same time by what Steven was doing, shouted in response, "What!? Get out of there"!

Steven didn't seem to hear her as he swam with the currents of the waterfall while saying, "I'll swim it over to you. See? Doggy paddle, forward".

However, the currents didn't bring him over to Pearl, as it was actually bringing him over to the edge of a waterfall that was pouring out of Pearl's room; one waterfall that Steven soon noticed and tried to desperately swim away from, declaring as he swam as best her could, "Oh, gosh. Wait! Doggy paddle, reverse, reverse"!

Unfortunately, he wasn't able to fight against the currents of the water and ended up riding down the waterfall, much to Pearl's dismay, as she called out to Steven, worried that he was gonna get hurt or worse.

Steven was flailing his free arm helplessly while using the other one to hold the breakfast meal together, but as he rode along the waterfall, he soon felt it...changing direction? When he noticed that it began to feel more like riding down a complex water slide, he looked up, muttering, "What the.." while he rode it down a twisty bend and over some small bumps that made him go up and down, like a rollercoaster.

It soon led him going down a straight path that led into a giant lake, as he shouted while holding the breakfast meal close, "Keep it together, breakfast," before falling into the lake.

A while into floating on the water, Steven soon washed up onto the shore of a new area in the temple, his "together breakfast" luckily not soggy or ruined in any manner.

He slowly came to it and looked up, spotting where he had washed up into, and gazed at the room he was in.

Aside from the stream and the large lake behind him where one waterfall was pouring into, the room itself looked very mich like a cavern. There were tons of small crystals sticking out from the ground in various sizes, and the room was full of all kinds of junk and treasures collected by...someone.

And speaking of someone, behind one of the junk piles was Amethyst, who walked over to a mattress that had a bunch of things on it, and flipped it over, littering it all over th floor. She looked around to see how the mess was growing, commenting to herself, "Better."

Steven approached her slowly, calling out her name, "Amethyst."

That got her attention, making her turn around and smile, saying to Steven, "Oh, hey, Steven. Did you come down the waterfall? Pearl gets so mad that I have her junk, but it's always falling down here," while gesturing to the waterfall that was pouring into the lake behind them.

"Junk like what," Steven asked curiously.

Amethyst happily answered, "Junk like... you," before she playfully picked Steven up, thre boy laughing as she carried him to a nearby junk pile and tossed him gently on top, saying, "I'm gonna throw you in the junk pile."

She then told Steven while gesturing to the giant growing mess in her room, "Isn't it awful? Pearl organized everything."

"It still looks messy to me," Steven commented, looking around and not really seeing how anything appeared "Organized" per se.

Amethyst took the mess as a compliment, grinning and responding with, "Aw, thanks! I try. Boom," before kicking a small pile of random junk that was near her away and scattering the contents everywhere.

Amethyst then noticed the littler plate of food Steven was holding and asked him, "Oh, what's that, Steven"?

Steven showed it off, explaining, "It's a together breakfast."

Thinking that the breakfast was for her, Amethyst eagerly reached for it, declaring excitedly, "All right! Snacks"!

However, Steven leaned back and held it away from hwr, trying to tell her, "No! It's for everyone to eat together. That's the essence of together breakfast."

At first, Amethyst stood there, seeming to have understood what Steven was explaining, as she replied, "Oh," in response. However, that didn't last long, as she eagerly reached for it again, shouting, "Give me! Give me"!

Steven struggled to keep the plate away, jumping down and running out of the room, as he made his way out of an exit and into a long tunnel while shouting, "We have to eat it together"!

As he ran through the tunnel, the path he ran on suddenly went upside-down, and defying the laws of gravity, Steven was ale to run on the path without falling down, while amethyst chased after him. But when he noticed that his "Together Breakfast" was close to falling, he adjusted his grip on the plate so he could still hold it without the meal slipping away.

When the path began to change again and curve to go back right-side up, he adjusted his grip on the plate again so the food wouldn't fall while he continued to run.

Meanwhile, amethyst was still chasing after him, and despite the small area of distance between them, she was at a good range of catching up with the boy, shouting at Steven, "You can't outrun me! We both have short legs"!

Suddenly, Steven noticed that the path he was running on led to an open area within the temple where there were floating rocks. He stopped near the edge of the tunnel, looking out at the rocks, before he turned his head and saw Amethyst coming after him, the purple gem declaring, "Steven. I'm hungry"!

Taking a leap of faith, Steven started to jump on the rock platforms while shouting back in response, "Just hold on"!

On one of the rock platforms, he saw there were two different options of exits; one on the right had a new path forming that led into a tunnel that had giant pick glowy tubes entering it, and another exit on the left had small silver-and-gold rocks that glimmered around its entrance, with the tunnel appearing dark.

Not sure which one to take, he decided to go with the left one, saying, "An exit. Whoooo"!

He jumped towards the exit, catching the food back onto the plate perfectly, and declared, "Skills," before running into the tunnel.

Amethyst followed behind him shortly, shouting back, "Get back here."

"You're completely missing the point of this," Steven shouted back towards her before he saw a small dark tunnel within the tunnel walls and leaped into it, hiding in the darkness. He waited a bit and watched as Amethyst ran passed him, shouting where she thought Steven had run, "I'm coming for ya"!

With Amethyst gone, Steven sighed a breath of relief, before he started to wander down the path in the spot he was hiding in.

Steven wandered down the path, stumbling a bit in the darkness before he felt himself hit something. He squinted his eyes to get a better look, saying, "Is that a...giant sea shell"?

What he ran into did indeed look like a giant gold clamshell with a silvery crescent moon design in the middle.

Steven curiously pushed it, seeing that it moved to one side, similar to the effects of a rotating door. Suddenly, he heard Amethyst's voice call out, "Steven! You can't hide from me"!

Worried, he used his shoulder to push through the door and entered the room that the door welcomed. Inside, he looked around, stunned by how the room appeared to look.

The new room he entered had glistening glass-like walls that shimmered a multitude of different colors, and small bits of light that were shining on the walls shimmered like glitter. There were some silver and gold-colored rocks that peaked through the floor, and its soil was reddish-purple, and the contents made it feel like sand, yet not as hot. On the left side, there was a massive bookshelf with dozens of books resting there, and a set of rocks that were stacked similar to stairs, which he guessed Moonstone used to reach up for the higher books.

In the back area, there was another giant lake, minus a waterfall this time, but he noticed the way the water moved in and out was similar to the movement of the ocean.

Up above, there was a dome ceiling covering the skylight, and a podium with a telescope on a small stand, which he guessed Moonstone used to do some stargazing.

Finally, Steven saw where Moonstone was; on the right side, there was a little archway cavern where a black shiny piano was, and Moonstone, who was currently playing the piano, was sitting at the piano seat, reading the book she had earlier.

He walked over to Moonstone, listening to the song that the moonstone gem was playing while she read her book.

At first, he didn't say anything because one, he didn't want to disturb her, and two, the song she was playing sounded really beautiful, and he wanted to listen to it a little more. However, the silence was broken when Steven let out a small sneeze, and he moved the plate of food into one hand so he could use his free arm to cover his sneeze.

That sneeze was what Moonstone to pry her attention away from the book and turn her head to see who sneezed, and was plenty surprised to find that it was Steven, saying while pausing her piano-playing, "Steven? What are you doing here? How did you get in here? And before I forget, bless you."

"Uh, it's a bit of a long story," Steven sheepishly replied, before adding, "But I came in so we all could eat together. But I got swept up by Pearl's waterfall, and now Amethyst is after the food."

Moonstone couldn't help but roll her eyes, but chuckled while saying, "That's Amethyst for ya; her motto with food is "Eat first, ask questions later."

She then said, "Well, while I'd love to share this "together breakfast" with you, I'm still busy reading up on the pictorial artifact that Garnet is currently attempting to destroy."

"She also took my phone too after I took a picture of it; why is that picture so dangerous anyways," Steven asked.

Before Moonstone could reply to Steven's question, a loud THUD could be heard, which caused the pair to turn their leads and look. It wound up being Amethyst, who had charged in through the door and fell face-first into the ground.

The purple gem got up, brushing the sandy dirt off of her while saying, "Moon, have you seen-," before she noticed Steven standing behind her, still holding the plate of breakfast, and exclaimed, "There ya are"!

Steven screamed in panic before he ran off, running towards a small exit near the back of the room.

Moonstone, however, was concerned about where Steven was running to, shouting, "Steven, wait! Come back," before running after him, and Amethyst ran close behind her.

Steven ran down the tunnel before he found that it led into the same area he was in before, where all the rock platforms were. He leaped onto them and decided to take his chances with the other exit from earlier, leaping onto the path and running into the tunnel.

He ran down the path before entering a room that was reddish-pinkish and had stone-like pillar entrances/exists on the sides of the walls, and there was an eerie clear tube that looked perfect to climb.

Amethyst, who surpassed Moonstone while running after Steven, entered the room first and saw what Steven was climbing on, and her initial hunger phase faded into concern, as she commented, "Hey, wait a second."

Just then, coming from one of the other entrances/exits was PEarl, who saw what was happening, commenting, "Steven! There you are"!

Seeing that he got half of the group together, Steven, being a bit oblivious to his situation, declared, "Pearl, sweet! Two out of three"!

Moonstone then came running into the room from the same entrance that Amethyst came in, saying, "Steven - oh my stars," before becoming surprised by where Steven was.

"Moonstone, perfect! Just one more to go," Steven commented happily.

However, the three gems were all currently really worried about not only what Steven was currently holding onto, but where he was, since he didn't know what this room was. Pearl was the most concerned out of the three, warning Steven, "Steven, be careful."

"Why," Steven asked Pearl.

"Because right now, you are currently holding onto something that is very dangerous," Moonstone clarified worryingly.

Steven looked at the tube, and then looked up, seeing that it was connected to a bunch of other tubes that came from other locations, and there were all connected to a large, round mechanical orb that seemed to make a low beating sound, just like a heartbeat. Steven, surprised by what he was seeing, let out a gasped "Woah" in response.

"Note: it may look fascinating, but I wouldn't be in awe; it is frankly a lot more dangerous than you think," Moonstone pointed out worryingly.

Pearl then added, "You really shouldn't be in here; this is the crystal heart! Oh! It's connected to the most dangerous areas of the temple"!

"Don't worry, Steven, we'll get you down," Moonstone called out as she and Amethyst started to run up to Steven.

"Hold on tight and don't look down," Pearl advised Steven as she ran to him too.

Steven was doing just fine with the "holding on tight" part, but unfortunately, the moment he looked down and sa the black, dark, never-ending hole below, it triggered him to start sliding down the tube before the gems could catch him.

Steven screamed in panic as he rode down the long tube, clutching on the breakfast plate, which slightly scratched the tube as he slide down. Just then, while sliding down, he entered a pink, peaceful room, which didn't appear to be bad, making him smile and say, "Oh, hey. This isn't so bad."

That didn't last though, as he continued to go down back into the dark tunnel again, making him shout, "Never mind," before he soon stopped sliding down, landing on a small squiggle-shaped bend of the tube he was on.

It gave the boy a chance to look around and see the new room that he was in. Right away, he could feel that it was warm in here, due to the little circle pool of lava on the floor. Aside from the massive array of tubes that were entangled and connected in the ceiling, he also saw that there were a bunch of bubbles floating around as well, and many of the bubbles contained gemstones from gems that had been defeated.

Steven then looked down and saw Garnet approaching the small pool of lava. He watched quietly while witnessing Garnet pull out his phone, snap it in half, and then drop it into the lava, the phone melting down into nothing upon contact.

This made Steven slightly worried, and a bit upset since he saw his phone be destroyed, but then, he saw Garnet pull out the same creepy picture that she had before. Garnet had the picture hovered in her hands, her gems glowing as it lowered the picture into the lava before becoming contained in a small bubble, which Garnet controlled as the flames slowly started to burn away at the picture.

Steven watched quietly, both in awe, and in surprise, and even when he slid down and landed on the floor, he still kept quiet at first, wondering why Garnet was burning the picture.

Behind him, Pearl, Amethyst, and Moonstone quietly dropped in through the ceiling, with Pearl whispering to Steven, "Steven, we're getting you out of here."

"Come on," Amethyst added in a whisper, gesturing that they should leave quietly.

"Yeah, it's not safe to be in here right now," Moonstone added in a whisper.

However, Steven, upon seeing that now all of the entire group was here, thought that this would be the perfect chance to now get to share the "together breakfast" he made with them, saying in a loud voice, "Huh? This is great! We're all together! We can finally eat"!

However, Steven's loud outburst distracted Garnet, who noticed some black smoke trying to escape from the circle, but she kept it inside, even while Steven continued to say while Pearl, Amethyst, and Moonstone ran over to help Garnet contain the smoke, "I mean, we don't have any forks, but we can use our hands; I'm not gonna judge."

When the smoke tried to escape again, Garnet shouted towards Steven, "Steven, go"!

"Ok. Want to meet in the kitchen," Steven asked innocently.

No one could even answer that question because before a response could be declared, the smoke found its way into escaping the bubble, popping it, before starting to surround the ceiling, looking for a way to get out. It let out a loud roar, one that startled Steven, who scurried to get away, as it began to spread throughout the entire room. Garnet, taking note of what happened, quickly exclaimed while summoning her gauntlets, "It's trying to escape; force it back"!

Amethyst pulled out her whip, Moonstone summoned her lightsaber, and Pearl had her staff at the ready, as the gems tried to push the smoke monster back toward the lava.

Steven saw a smoke hand reach out towards him as he quickly rab back to avoid it, while Amethyst fended it off with her whip, shouting as she struck it, "Get back"!

Another smoky hand reached out from behind Steven, but Moonstone sliced it away with her lightsaber, declaring, "Get away from him"!

Pearl stabbed her staff into another smoky hand that rested within the smoke cloud, causing it to recoil upward, especially after it was dealt a punch from Garnet. However, it moved away and wound up hitting Steven and his breakfast, driving him to the floor.

"Steven," the gems shouted in concern.

At first, Steven looked ok, apart from being shaken from the fall, but the most surprising sight was that the smoke seemed to absorb itself into Steven's together breakfast meal. Steven looked down at the plate of food, wondering if it was still ok before the food seemed to give an eerie shake, one that confused Steven, who asked it, "Together breakfast"?

However, the food suddenly morphed and changed the plate of food into a gigantic food monster, with syrup and whipped cream drooling on all its sides and waffles for its head and leg.

Steven, seeing the now food monster staring down at it, shouted in fright and braced himself for a hit, but then, Pearl's staff was seen plunged into the side of the monster. That made it turn its head towards her, as Pearl warned the others, "It's taken refuge in organic matter," before getting blasted into the wall by a blast of whipped cream and syrup.

"Now it has all the power of a breakfast. We have to destroy it," Garnet declared, seeing Pearl get stuck.

Pearl screamed in fright/disgust when she saw the whipped cream and syrup rising up, trying to trap her, shooting, "Aah! It's horrible"!

The monster easily pulled out Pearl's staff and snapped it in half, making it disappear in a wave of light and glitter.

Moonstone tried to use her lightsaber to slice away at it, but the monster kicked her away with its waffle leg, sending her into the floor before it launched a giant strawberry that had her pinned down and stuck.

Garnet tried to deal the monster a punch, but the sticky mixture of whipped cream and popcorn caught her gauntlet, and she struggled to pull it out, even with Amethyst helping her out.

Steven, who was trying to hold its other leg away from him, had a tearful look in his eyes, as he sadly commented, "I didn't want this! I just wanted to eat together, like - like best buds"!

"Steven, you've got to get away," Garnet warned Steven while struggling to pull out her gauntlet, with Amethyst pulling as hard as she could.

"But my breakfast," Steven replied in concern before he watched as the monster shoot a gigantic waffle that sent Garnet and Amethyst barreling into the wall and caged them there.

Steven, seeing his friends trapped and endangered by the delicious monster, seemed to snap into a serious mode; it was one thing that he wanted to share a meal with his friends, but if the meal was hurting them like this, it was not worth it!

He pushed the monster back with every ounce of strength that he could, declaring, "That's enough! I don't care if you... are the most important meal of the day"!

He kept pushing until he was able to get it into the lava pool, holding it down as it started to burn, exclaiming, "I made you to bring us together, not to tear us apart"!

The monster roared in pain as the flames engulfed it, and soon, the monster was completely gone; burned away in but only a minute.

Garnet punched a square hole through one of the notches in the waffle, which gave her and Amethyst an exit to climb out of, Pearl pried herself away from the sticky substance she was trapped in, and Moonstone lifted the giant strawberry off of her before the gems walked over to where Steven was, seeing the fiery remains of the now destroyed behemoth.

They noticed the sad look Steven had, and they could tell that while he was relieved that his friends were safe, his idea of getting to share a together breakfast with them...just went up in flames.

Steven looked up at the gems, saying to them apologetically, "I'm sorry, guys. I guess I dreamed too big."

The gems looked at one another and didn't say anything at first, until they felt Steven hug them together or tried to since they were a massive group and all, and the gems were more than happy to reciprocate the hug back. Suddenly, while in the hug, the group came up with an idea that just might help him feel a little better.

The next day, Steven woke up and came downstairs, rubbing his eyes tiredly, and he was greeted to a sight that surprised him: Pearl, Garnet, Moonstone, and Amethyst were all standing in the kitchen.

"Morning, sleepyhead," Amethyst declared, the first to speak out of the group.

Steven was surprised, happy nonetheless, but also surprised, and a little confused, as he asked, "Guys? What are you doing here"?

"Oh, well, we had finished up doing morning patrol a lot earlier than we had expected..." Pearl started to explain with a sheepish smile, obviously trying to hide the excitement of what the true intention was.

"And we thought that it'd be nice to sit down and have some breakfast together," Moonstone added with an affirmative smile and nodded her head.

Garnet, who had her arms crossed while she smiled, then asked, "We were just about to start making it. Do you want to help"?

The huge smile that Stevne had on his face, and the star-shaped pupils in his eyes were more than needed of a response that indicated a happy "Yes" from Steven.

Garnet placed two waffles in the toaster and pressed the knob down so they could cook, Amethyst placed two bags of popcorn into the microwave and pressed a button that activated the popcorn setting. Once the waffles were cooked, they popped out, with Garnet grabbing them, and placing them on a stack.

Currently, with the added waffles, there were now two stacks of waffles, four waffles per stack. Pearl drizzled a lot of syrup onto the waffles before Moonstone poured the popcorn on top. Garnet added a huge dollop of whipped cream, and for the final touch, Steven picked up a strawberry and carefully eyed where he wanted it to go, and placed it in the perfect spot.

The new "together breakfast" meal looked really delicious and ready to eat, with Steven eagerly saying, "It looks great! It's even more together and even more breakfast"!

However, the group didn't start to eat it right away; in fact, they couldn't really eat it...at all. Staring at the plate of food, it reminded them of the monster they fought yesterday and the gooey, creamy fight it put up, almost trapping them in a delicious prison.

The concerned/startled looks on everyone's faces were more than enough for Steven, who had a worried look of his own, to openly admit, "I don't think I can eat this."

"Let's order a pizza," Amethyst suggested, with the rst of the group all nodding in agreement.

"Note: I agree that is a much better idea," Moonstone commented in agreement.

"Pizza's a better idea," Steven chimed in agreement.

"Superb idea," Pearl commented.

"It did try to kill us," Garnet bluntly pointed out.

"I'll order us a pie," Moonstone commented while picking up the phone and starting to dial a number for the pizza place.
