Chapter 34
"AAAAAAAAHHHH! What's happening to me?!" Mimosa screamed out of fear. Surprisingly, her clothes remained intact, but her hands turned into claws, her vermillion hair now turned white, a tail with a rose on its end sprouted from her behind, as well as 2 devil horns sprouted from her head and 2 wings sprouted out of her back. Once she lowered her clawed hands from her head and she stood up, she opened her eyes. Instead of them being yellow, they were red. Her grimoire now floating in front of her, not even it was safe from the transformation. While it still held the 3 leaf clover insignia, its color scheme had changed to black and red.
"What the hell?!" Bell cried out. "What is this?! Like those stories where a human transforms into a wolf if it's a full moon?!"
"Devil…!" Fay choked.
"Curse…!" Ren finished with a gasp.
"...?!" Yuno gaped in surprise, but stood to his feet in a battle ready stance. Lastly, Elf Fana took notice and gnashed her teeth as she stood up to face the Devilified Mimosa Vermillion. Her grimoire out as well. She swiped her right hand from left to right, getting ready to cast a spell against the Devilified Mimosa. Before she could call out a spell, Yuno put his right arm in front of her.
"What are you doing, Golden Dawn brat?!" Elf Fana snarled. "Out of the way!"
"...Your PTSD is showing." Yuno told her bluntly. "That...That Devil is still Mimosa Vermillion. She's still my squadmate. She's still a member of the Golden Dawn Magic Knight Squad of the Clover Kingdom."
"He's right, Elf Fana." Ren frowned. "This is no doubt signs of a curse placed by a Devil." Ren looked to Yuno. "Yuno you have to tell us. What the hell happened on that mission?" She questioned. Yuno gulped. He knew he'd have to tell others besides Acier, Julius, and Marx. Might as well do it now. Ignoring the gnashing of devil teeth from Mimosa. Even though she transformed into a Devil due to the curse placed on her, something inside of her told her not to attack. At least, not yet.
"...Me, Mimosa, Klaus, and Letoile were sent on a mission to the Earth Grand Magic Zone to retrieve a magic stone before the Eye of the Midnight Sun could." Yuno began. "It started off good. But then…" He clenched his hands into fists. "That bitch, Vanica Zogratis, showed up and aimed to get the Magic Stone first. Or so we thought. In the end, she wanted...me."
"You? Why?" Ren questioned, shocked.
"...She revealed my past to me." Yuno continued. "I'm not sure how she did it, but she did. After that, it was a blur. She easily defeated all 4 of us without breaking a sweat. She aimed to take me back to Spade, but Mimosa tried to save me. In the end, she and I both got captured." He looked down at his new grimoire, then back up. "Then I met their Mother, Eva Zogratis, who pretty much forced me into a Devil Contract. Hence why I have this mark on my face." He turned to face Ren, Fay, and Elf Fana. On the left side of his face, a black mark that appeared as a clock was starting at the top of his forehead's left side, then going around his left cheek to make a full circle. He paused again, a bit longer than the last, then continued. "As for Mimosa… She... was cursed. Obviously. But...it wasn't by Vanica. No. It was by her Devil."
"Megicula….!" Ren gasped. "But why!? What sort of past did you have to be targeted by those monsters?!"
"...Apparently, I'm the Spade Kingdom Prince." Yuno replied. At this, Ren, Fay, and Elf Fana looked at Yuno; outright shocked.
"Y-Y-You…!?" Ren stuttered in shock.
"Oh so much makes sense now….!" Fay gaped.
"Your mana pool is so high too…!" Elf Fana added in agreement before she frowned deeply. "But why curse Mimosa?"
"...I dunno. To make me suffer, I guess." Yuno mused.
"Ok, we are seriously gonna have to have a talk about this later. But for right now, we have to incapacitate Mimosa." Ren frowned, grimoire out. "Judging by the sequences that happened, it's the moonlight that turned her like this. If we can knock her out and keep her indoors until sunrise, she should return to normal."
"But that's only a temporary solution." Elf Fana pointed out. "The permanent solution would be to outright remove the curse.
"It's not that simple I'm afraid." Ren frowned. "The only way to remove that curse is to kill Megicula-the devil that placed it on Mimosa. But as things are now, it's not possible. So until then, we have to make do with what we can." Ren got out her communicator, tossing it to Elf Fana.
"Contact Acier and explain the situation. I'll handle Mimosa in the meantime." Ren said.
"Right!" Elf Fana nodded, fiddling with the communication device, eventually getting it to work and contacting Acier. "Lady Acier, we have a situation!" Yuno stood next to Ren, grimoire ready.
"I'm not letting you handle her alone, Ren." Yuno told her.
"You still can't properly use your magic yet, Yuno. Not with the Devil mana mixed with it, anyway." Ren frowned. He clenched his hands into fists at those words from Ren.
"I honestly don't care." Yuno replied bluntly. "If I do nothing, what good am I as a Golden Dawn member? Not just that, as a Magic Knight?" He pointed his right index finger at Ren. "You may be against the idea, but I don't really care what you think about that right now. I'm helping. And you can't stop me." He turned back to face Mimosa. "Besides, Mimosa is my squadmate. I'll get an earful from Klaus and Letoile if I just sit idly by and do nothing. And I don't need another lecture from either of them. So like it or not, I'm helping you. Do you understand me?" Ren looked at Yuno surprised for a moment before she shook her head with an amused smile on her face.
"Honestly. You have to be the most stubborn, determined, and loyal human I've met." She remarked with a smile. "I can respect that."
"As much as I am loving this, she looks ready to attack!" Fay yelled. Devil Mimosa's grimoire flipped several pages before it glowed a dark red aura.
"Black Rose Creation Magic: Dragon of the Rose!" Devil Mimosa declared. Upon her declaration, several thorny roses appeared around/behind her. In a mere instant, the thorny rose cocoon shattered to reveal a dragon with red wings, and a red rose thorny body. The only part of its body that was black was its head. Said dragon roared at Yuno and Ren. Bell covered her face from the wind whiplash of the dragon's roar.
"What the hell…?!" Bell cried out in surprise.
"Black Rose Magic. No doubt a magic formed from the curse placed on Mimosa by Megicula.." Ren frowned. "Yuno, provide me with support and I'll go for the attack." Yuno nodded in agreement, however, Devil Mimosa just chuckled darkly.
"As if I'd let you get the chance to do that." Devil Mimosa retorted coldly. "Black Rose Magic: Rose Gale!" The thorny rose dragon flew up and began to flap its wings. At first, nothing happened. But after a few more flaps, the temperature in the area began to decrease. In addition, the entire area around them, including trees that were at least a football field away from the 4 on all sides, began to shot into the air before exploding in rose petals.
"Die, scum." Devil Mimosa remarked coldly. Now Yuno put an arm to his face.
"Tch…! Her mana is so cold…!" Yuno breathed out. "But if we don't do something, we'll all be next in the rose petal exploding show….!"
"I just finished talking with Acier!" Elf Fana showed over Devil Mimosa's spell. "She's sending Asta, Noelle, and Liebe from the SIlver Eagles, and Klaus and Letoile from the Golden Dawn as backup!"
"Just need to hold out until then." Ren winced, raising her hand up. "Light Creation Magic: Seraph's Blades!" Blades of light formed from above and skewered the rose dragon, causing it to roar. The Black Rose Magic: Rose Gale spell Devil Mimosa casted began to slow down.
So the source is the dragon in that case. Ren thought. "Light Magic: Seraph's Heavens!" Beams of angelic light were shot, piercing the dragon and causing it to roar and explode in rose petals as the others gasped.
"Whoa…!" Elf Fana gaped.
"So strong…!" Yuno agreed.
"I suggest standing down now." Ren warned Devil Mimosa, blades of light forming around her. Devil Mimosa glanced between Ren, Elf Fana, and Yuno.
"Stand down?" Devil Mimosa repeated. "Why would I do that?" Yuno, Elf Fana, Ren, Bell, and Fay looked at each other, then back at Devil Mimosa.
"I don't wish to hurt you Mimosa." Ren frowned. Instead of Devil Mimosa lowering her arms in defeat, she just grins maliciously.
"Oh I see!" Devil Mimosa sneered. "You're afraid to fight me! That's okay! I'll just fight you all with everything I have until you 4 croak!"
"Damn this…!" Elf Fana growled.
"It seems you misinterpreted what I meant." Ren sighed. "Allow me to make it clear: You can't beat me." Devil Mimosa stared at Ren, but did not say anything. But after a few minutes, Devil Mimosa began to laugh.
"Hahahahaha!" Devil Mimosa laughed, her pointed teeth shined in the moonlight.
"And what is so funny?" Bell demanded.
"I have a bad feeling about this." Yuno muttered.
"Duh!" Elf Fana groaned as she rolled her eyes. "Dammit…! If this wasn't a human-turned-devil through a curse, I would burn her to ashes right now."
"Not now Elf Fana. We need to focus on finding a shot to knock her out." Ren frowned.
"How can you do that if you have to focus all your energy to protect them?" Devil Mimosa remarked coldly. "Black Rose Creation Magic: Thorn Whip!" At her call, a whip made out of black roses materialized in her devil clawed right hand. "Time to pass out punishment!" She then thrusted her right arm forward and the thorn whip began to swirl wildly around.
"I'll burn that whip to ashes." Elf Fana remarked as she took a step forward.
"Elf Fana, no!" Yuno called out.
"Too late!" Devil Mimosa grinned as she swung her thorn whip towards Elf Fana, which wrapped around Elf Fana and held her in the air.
"Well...this is embarrassing…" Elf Fana groaned. "Flame Magic: Phoenix Whirlwind!" A Fire Magic tornado formed around Elf Fana, which burned through the thorns that held her captive. Devil Mimosa winced and pulled back from the Fire Magic tornado. Elf Fana fell to the ground with a thud, and a groan. Blood trickled from her wounds on her now torn dress from the lower chest area. "Ugh…! Dammit it all...!" Yuno facepalmed in slight irritation. Elf Fana quickly got up and began to heal herself with Flame Recovery Magic: Phoenix Robe.
"Now you see why I warned you." Ren frowned.
"Yeah yeah." Elf Fana rolled her eyes in slight irritation. "I see your point." Ren sighed, stepping forward, her blades floating around her. Devil Mimosa stared at Ren. Her devilish red eyes curving into a wicked smile, as well as her lips.
"Go ahead Ren. Try to incapacitate me." Devil Mimosa taunted. "It won't go the way you think it will. That much I can assure you."
"We'll see." Ren only said. Devil Mimosa beckoned Ren forward with her right hand.
"Go on then." Devil Mimosa told her. "Try."
"Light Magic: Seraph's Gale!" Ren yelled, launching winds of light at Devil Mimosa. Devil Mimosa grunted as she was pushed back several feet.
"What was that supposed to do?" Devil Mimosa questioned. "Make me lose my balance or something? Honestly…"
"Compass Magic: Needle Storm!" Almost as fast as Light Magic, several compass needles flew towards Devil Mimosa. Devil Mimosa evaded most of them, but one snagged her on her shoulder and she hissed in pain. She pulled it out of her shoulder, which only caused her more pain. But soon thereafter, the wound healed itself.
"About time." Ren smiled.
"Sorry about that!" Klaus called down. "Asta and Noelle were taking forever!"
"We weren't!" Asta and Noelle fired back at Klaus, who only laughed lightly.
"Just glad you made it." Ren said. "Oh and Mimosa, thanks for moving." Ren snapped her fingers and erupting from the ground were blades of light that pierced Devil Mimosa's wings causing her to hiss and unable to move.
"Damn you…!" Devil Mimosa growled before she smiled wickedly again just as Asta, Noelle, Liebe, Klaus, and Letoile landed. "My wings may be clipped, but that doesn't mean I can't fight!" Letoile and Klaus had horrified expressions on their faces once they got a clear look at Mimosa.
"What…..happened to Mimosa…..?" Klaus breathed out. Letoile covered her mouth in utter shock and fright.
"Your friends weren't just tortured. Yuno was forced into a contract with a Devil and Mimosa was cursed." Ren frowned. Asta, Noelle, Klaus, and Letoile gaped, while Liebe frowned deeply.
"Megicula did this?" Liebe questioned as he gestured to Mimosa.
"Yeah. A curse that activates when under moonlight." Ren explained.
"Tch…! Figured as much…" Liebe grunted as he pointed the Demon-Slayer Sword at Devil Mimosa. "Let me see if tapping her with this will do anything."
"Be careful. She uses a different Magic than her original." Ren warned. Liebe glanced over at Ren, then nodded and turned his attention back to Mimosa. He then laughed lightly.
"Kek kek. Of course I'll be careful." Liebe told Ren as he approached Devil Mimosa. Devil Mimosa struggled and she took notice of the Demon-Slayer Sword. Asta held the Demon-Dweller Sword, just in case Devil Mimosa tried anything. Devil Mimosa took notice of the Demon-Slayer Sword and tried to turn away from it.
"Get that thing away from me!" Devil Mimosa growled. "Or you'll be sorry!"
"Not like she can move." Fay muttered.
"Who says I have to move to cast my spells, pixie?!" Devil Mimosa snapped.
"Why does everyone call me that?!" Fay groaned.
"Not now Fay." Ren deadpanned. Just as Liebe was about to touch Devil Mimosa's forehead, she raised her right hand up enough to be able to cast a spell.
"Black Rose Magic: Rose Thorn Shower!" Devil Mimosa declared. Suddenly, several thorny roses rained from the sky. Liebe leapt back and slashed at them with the Demon-Slayer Sword, while Asta used the Demon-Dweller Sword in an attempt to absorb the magic power.
"Water Creation Magic: Sea Dragon's Lair!" Noelle announced. A water barrier around the group to defend/protect them from Devil Mimosa's Black Rose Magic: Rose Thorn Shower spell. Unfortunately, the thorny roses began to sap away the spell's power, and transfer it to Devil Mimosa. Noelle tched as she used more of her magic to keep her Sea Dragon's Lair spell up and active. Devil Mimosa took notice of Noelle beginning to sweat and heavy breathing. As well as blood trickling down from Noelle's nose. Devil Mimosa's lips formed a dark smile in sheer amusement at Noelle's trouble with keeping her Water Creation Magic: Sea Dragon's Lair spell up and running.
"Aww what's the matter cousin?" Devil Mimosa mocked. "Can't handle the pressure?"
"Noelle!" Asta called out to his wife. "Don't strain yourself!"
"Oh like you're one to talk, Asta!" Noelle grit her teeth in pain; more blood began to pour out of her nose. "But as much as I hate to admit it...you're right! I shouldn't strain myself!" Letoile stepped forward.
"Then allow me to defend us from the spell, Noelle." Letoile told her, grimoire out and ready.
"She's right. You can't continue this in your current condition." Ren frowned. "Release the spell Noelle."
"Nnngghhh…!" Noelle grunted. "But if I do that, then we will be bombarded with a shower of thorny roses!"
"I'll cast my Compass Magic: Another Atlas spell as soon as you release your spell, Noelle." Letoile told her. "It'll be enough to defend us."
"Once she does that, Liebe will quickly strike Mimosa with his sword and hopefully see if it'll be enough." Ren said. Noelle sighed loudly in defeat.
"Oh fine!" Noelle snapped, dropping her spell. As soon as she did, a shower of thorny roses was upon them. Letoile raised her arms up and casted her spell. But not before getting hit several times with the thorny roses from Devil Mimosa's Black Rose Magic: Rose Thorn Shower spell. She winced and groaned in pain, but she ignored the pain for the time being.
"Compass Magic: Another Atlas!" Letoile declared. A large green dome with a compass on the top of it appeared and surrounded her, Klaus, Asta, Noelle, and Ren. Liebe had run ahead and was closing in on Devil Mimosa.
"Kek kek! Time to take a nap, Mimosa!" Liebe told her as he hit her forehead with the flat of the Demon-Slayer Sword, seeing no need to use an Anti-Magic spell to get the job done. Devil Mimosa staggered backwards from the hit, dazed for a few seconds. Her last spell casted came to a stop. After a minute or 2, Devil Mimosa regained her composure.
"What was that supposed to do?" Devil Mimosa questioned.
"That didn't work!" Fay yelped.
"Should've known it wouldn't be that simple with Megicula's curse." Ren scowled. Liebe on the other hand, grinned.
"Kek kek! Then perhaps I should hit a little harder!" Liebe retorted. "Asta!" Luckily for Liebe, Asta knew what he meant. With a quick toss and swap, Liebe now held the Demon-Dweller Sword, and Asta the Demon-Slayer Sword. He then raised his right arm up. "Anti-Magic: Demon-Dweller Sword: Black Judgement!" Soon thereafter, Liebe began to spin; whirling the Demon-Dweller Sword around himself at an incredible speed, several black slashes rained down and exploded into a gale of black slashes on his opponent with debris being sent flying amid the destruction. Devil Mimosa flew into the air to evade, but got caught by one of the black slashes at the chest area and slammed her into the ground. After about another 30 seconds, Liebe stopped spinning; thus stopping his spell. Surprisingly, he was not dizzy.
"Whoa…!" Letoile breathed out in amazement.
"Yes well, as amazing as that was, someone should check to make sure Mimosa is still alive." Klaus adjusted his glasses.
"Kek. Way to ruin the little victory." Liebe deadpanned as he approached the now knocked out Mimosa and knelt down to feel her right hand's wrist. After about a minute, he stood back up and turned towards the others. "She's alive."
"Alright. Then let's quickly take her to the Golden Dawn base. We'll place her in the basement until dawn." Ren instructed.
"Good idea." Yuno nodded. "Little to no windows down there. Perfect place for her to rest and for the curse to wear off. At least for now."
"I'll go tell Captain Vangeance to not give Mimosa any missions that take up the whole day." Klaus remarked.
"And have some members take her bed, sheets, and pillows down to the basement, best to make it comfortable for her there." Ren added.
"I'll do that." Klaus agreed, creating his steel chariot via his Steel Magic. "Place Mimosa in the back. I'll carry her back to the base."
"Of course." Ren said, carefully picking up Mimosa. She snapped her fingers and the blades of light disappeared from Mimosa's wings before Ren placed her on the chariot. Letoile limped forward and towards Klaus's chariot.
"I'll go with Klaus and Mimosa." Letoile spoke in a tired voice. "You coming, Yuno?" Yuno glanced between his squadmates, then at Asta, Noelle, Liebe, and Ren, then back at Letoile and Klaus.
"I'll catch up." He told her. "You and Klaus go ahead with Mimosa." Letoile and Klaus nodded, then Klaus flew off on his chariot. With Letoile and Mimosa in the backseat.
"You didn't want to go back?" Ren asked gently.
"I didn't want to just yet." Yuno replied simply.
"More like you didn't want to leave Ren yet." Fay muttered to Bell.
"Got that right." Bell muttered back.
"Quiet you 2." Yuno told them. Noelle rolled her eyes, then winced from the pain of the aftermath of her using Water Creation Magic: Sea Dragon's Lair to defend their group. Noelle coughed up blood and fell forward, only for Asta to catch her.
"Noelle!" Asta spoke in a worried tone.
"We're going back to the Silva House and you are staying in bed for a few days." Ren frowned. Noelle looked up at Ren with a form of defiance.
"But if I stay in bed, how the hell will I train?" Noelle demanded.
"Noelle Silva." Ren scowled in a commanding tone. "You are pregnant and currently bleeding. You are to stay in bed for both your sake and the baby. Or so help me I will have both your husband and brother-in-law be your guard dogs so you don't sneak out. Am I clear?" Noelle glared lightly at Ren.
"Fine." Noelle snapped. "But under 1 condition. You help me learn how to use my Angel Power."
"Ok, just because people call me an angel-" Ren began.
"Cause you are!" Fay called.
"-Doesn't mean I have a contract with one." Ren finished.
"I know you don't." Noelle replied. "I am. So is Lily Aquaria, and Friede Rapual. Besides, your Light Magic spells are pretty angelic. So that's probably where the comparison started."
"I digress. I'll help you as best I can. But! Only after you recover." Ren stated firmly. Yuno glanced between the 2. Eventually, Noelle replied.
"Deal." Noelle told Ren.
"Good. Now it's time to head out. Care to join us Yuno, Elf Fana?" Ren asked. Elf Fana and Yuno looked at each other, then back at Ren.
"Sure." Elf Fana smiled.
"Eh. Might as well." Yuno replied. "Since I didn't go with Klaus and Letoile back to the Golden Dawn base." The spirits had knowing looks while Ren smiled.
"Great. Allow me to provide a much easier ride for us." She said, flipping a few pages of her grimoire. "Light Creation Magic: Seraph's Guidance." And created from light was a soft cloud of light as she motioned forward to them.
"Hop on." She smiled. Elf Fana and Yuno go on first, with Asta helping Noelle on, followed by himself and Ren.
"Liebe you too." Ren called. Liebe glanced up at Ren and crossed his arms.
"I would but... I have Anti-Magic." Liebe reminded her. "I embody it. If I step on that Light Magic cloud, it'll pop like a balloon."
"Can't you just change shape and hop on one of their shoulders?" Fay asked. "I've heard Devils are able to do that."
"Only if we're in a contract with a host." Liebe told Fay. "Which as you can see, I'm not in a contract with anyone." He put a hand to his chin. "Although...Spatial Magic doesn't pop at my touch. So I could see if Courtney could pick me up." He shrugged. "Or I could just walk back to House Silva."
"I cannot let you just walk by yourself. Acier would kill me." Ren deadpanned.
"Kek kek. Then I'll just call for Courtney to pick me up." Liebe retorted.
"Or you know, you could just fly back to House Silva." Noelle told her brother-in-law in a snappy tone. "You do have wings, after all."
"Can you fly with them?" Asta asked. Liebe glanced at his wings, then back at Asta.
"Kek kek. Might as well try now, yeah?" Liebe grinned. Asta laughed sheepishly, while Yuno and Elf Fana facepalmed/deadpanned.
"How about I stay to make sure you don't fall." Ren said, hopping off the cloud. "The cloud can navigate on it's own to reach the Silva House."
"Sure. Whatever you say." Liebe remarked.
"Ok. We'll meet you guys at the Silva House." Ren said.
"Se yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!" Asta called back/shrill screamed due to the speed of Light Magic cloud.
"Uh, will they be ok?" Fay questioned.
"Oh I'm sure they will." Ren smiled, walking toward Liebe. "Alright. So let's get flying."
"Right." Liebe nodded.
After several attempts, and a few Light Recovery Magic spells from Ren later, Liebe was finally able to fly.
"Kek kek! Just like what every other Devil can do!" Liebe grinned.
"Least you're off the ground." Ren smiled, flapping her wings of light. "Now how about we get moving."
"Yeah." Liebe agreed. The 2 flew high in the sky as Fay flew ahead of them with a cheer making her chuckle as they flew above the kingdom.
"Wow. Such bright lights." Fay grinned.
"They are, yeah." Liebe agreed.
"Even to the far edges where the villages are." Ren remarked, taking in the view.
"Yeah." Liebe agreed.
The Forsaken Realm, where my grandfather's tribe once resided…. Ren thought sadly.
"Kek kek. We're almost at House SIlva." Liebe pointed out.
"Oh yes, you're right." Ren spoke. "Then best not keep them waiting." Liebe nodded in agreement.
"Kek kek. I guess your little Light Magic cloud will come back around with Asta and Noelle once it drops off Elf Fana and Yuno at their Magic Knight squad bases." Liebe spoke towards Ren.
"Unless it drops off at the Silva House and Yuno and Elf Fana decide to stay for a bit." Ren remarked.
"Which means more time with your boy~" Fay grinned, before yelping at Ren's flick at him.
"Kek kek! That too!" Liebe laughed.
"Don't you start too." Ren scowled.
"Too late! Kek kek!" Liebe stuck his tongue out at Ren as they landed at the entrance to House Silva. Liebe approached the door first and put his hand to it. "Hmm… Looks like Asta and Noelle aren't home yet. Usually you'd hear them yammering at this time of night." He puts his right ear to the door, only to hear Solid's ranting, with Nebra trying to calm him down. At this, Liebe sweatdrops. "Oh but of course Solid has something to bitch about. Why am I not surprised?"
"This is bullshit!" Solid slammed his hands onto the expensive coffee table in the House Silva's large living room. "Mother is already figuring out who the Royal Knights will be to attack the Eye of the Midnight Sun's HQ! And of course Mereoleona Vermillion is put as the Captain!"
"Ugh. I already feel the migraine." Ren groaned.
"I don't blame you." Liebe agreed. "Let's head in through another door."
"Agreed." Ren nodded. "Though I'm not surprised Mereoleona Vermillion was chosen to be the Captain of the Royal Knights."
"Kek kek. Yeah." Liebe agreed, flying up to one of his room's windows. "Wonder who will be picked to join."
"We'll find out soon enough." Ren remarked, going for her room before stopping. "Hmm? Do you hear something?"
"Huh? What do you mean, Ren?" Liebe questioned.
"If I didn't know any better." Ren said, the points of her ear twitching. "I was hearing screaming." Liebe ignored Solid's whining. He soon began to hear what Ren was hearing.
"Huh. I hear it too." Liebe admitted. "So Noelle and Asta are home after all?"
"Close by the sound of it." Ren remarked, flying to the front of the house. She looked to see the light of the cloud and a screaming Asta.
"Aaaaah! We're going to crash into the house!" Asta cried out.
"Stop screaming, Asta!" Noelle told her husband firmly. Ren sighed and with a snap of her fingers the cloud made a quick stop right in front of her, nearly tossing Asta off.
"Oof!" Asta groaned out as he landed face first on the ground while Noelle slid off and landed on her feet.
"Had a fun ride?" Ren asked, amused.
"I did, yes." Noelle smiled, then frowned as Asta comedically got up. "Though Asta didn't. Least not that I can tell."
"What? Of course it was fun!" Asta told Noelle. "Elf Fana and Yuno were fun to talk to, right?"
"Elf Fana, yes." Noelle agreed. "Yuno? Same old same old."
"I take it they were already dropped off at their bases?" Ren asked.
"Yes." Noelle replied. "First Yuno, then Elf Fana. And lastly, me and Asta."
"Very good. Now back on the cloud Asta. Solid is on his rants and it's best you enter through your window." Ren told him. Noelle sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose.
"What's Solid ranting about this time?" Noelle asked.
"Oh about how your Mother made Mereoleona the Captain for the Royal Knights." Ren shrugged. Noelle just groaned.
"Wonderful." Noelle remarked sarcastically as she grabbed Asta's hand. "Come on Asta, up we go."
"Wha-Haaa!" Asta cried out as Noelle got up onto the Light Magic cloud and it took off towards his and Noelle's room.
"Aww man! No Yuno toni-!" Ren grabbed Fay before he could finish and flew for her room, closing the window with a heavy tired sigh.
"I need a break." Ren frowned.
"So why the sudden call for us Queen Acier, Lord Julius?" Standing before Julius and Acier were Charlotte, Yami, and a young blond haired woman of her early 20s with blue eyes. While beautiful, she had a relaxed posture and clothes to that of a casual outing with the robes of the Blue Rose Magic Squad.
"Due to Nacht's findings in the Spade Kingdom, me and Julius want you 3 to go into the Spade Kingdom to scout out the Zogratis's, and who else is working with them." Queen Acier explained. "For example, find out why they need Morris and the Witch Queen."
"Why not just let him do it? He seems to enjoy it." Yami deadpanned.
"Because he's been there for 8 years, Yami." Julius replied. "I think he needs a break from that winterland of a kingdom."
"In other words, you practically told him not to do it." Yami translated. Julius laughed lightly while Marx listened intently.
"While that is true, I ultimately couldn't stop him." Julius replied.
"Besides," Queen Acier smiled. "won't it be fun for you and Charlotte to enjoy some time together? Scarlett dear is probably the only one excited for this mission. Despite scouting not really being her forte."
"Hey, any chance for me to finally watch my sister and her boyfriend is fun for me." The blond, Scarlett, smirked. Charlotte pinched the bridge of her nose.
"More like so you can embarrass me and Yami." Charlotte muttered through gritted teeth. Yami, on the other hand, just shrugged.
"Eh. I guess this is better than doing nothing." He spoke nonchalantly.
"Listen to your boyfriend, sissy." Scarlett teased with a smirk. Charlotte's face began to turn dark red.
"Alright! Fine! I'll accept this little scout mission!" Charlotte flung her arms anime style while speaking in an exasperated tone. "Now where's Cob? Isn't he going to transport us?" Marx, Queen Acier, and Julius looked at each other, then back at Charlotte.
"Well…" Queen Acier began.
"As much as we'd want to, it's too risky." Julius added. "Especially considering we don't know how close Cob can get you 3 to Spade without alerting any of the Spade Kingdom Soldiers that serve under the Zogratis's. With that in mind, it's best that you 3 fly to the Spade Kingdom."
"What? Oh come on!" Yami groaned.
"So long as those 2 are sharing a broom I'm fine with it." Scarlett shrugged. Queen Acier and Julius couldn't help but laugh, while Yami held a nonchalant expression on his face and Charlotte's face became even more dark red.
"Scarlett!" Charlotte shrieked. "I-I'm not sh-sharing a broom with Y-Yami!"
"Your kid sister has a point, Prickly Queen." Yami told Charlotte. Which only made Charlotte's face even more dark red.
"Aaaaaaaahhhhh! Not you too, Yami!" Charlotte shrieked again.
"So it's decided." Scarlett nodded. "Let's get a move on." At that, Queen Acier began to push Charlotte and Yami out of the office.
"Okay you 3, enjoy!~" Queen Acier smiled. "Call when you find anything that we should be concerned about! Bye!~" Charlotte tried to protest, but Queen Acier had already closed the door on the 3 Magic Knights.
"Whelp. Let's go." Yami turned on his heel and headed down the corridor towards the entrance to the Clover Castle. Scarlett right behind him, and her older sister trailing behind the 2.
"I hate this place already. Can we go home now?" Charlotte asked through chattering teeth, wind blowing snow in the 3's faces. Despite them wearing protective and proper gear for the weather in Spade, they weren't prepared for the cold temperature. Well, their bodies weren't, anyway.
"You got your boyfriend to warm you up. Stop complaining sis." Scarlett scolded, rubbing her arms. Charlotte gave her younger sister a glare, but gasped upon Yami wrapping his right arm around Charlotte.
"She's got a point, Prickly Queen." Yami told Charlotte in a teasing manner. "Besides, we have a mission to do. I'll take you out for dinner after. Alright?" Charlotte felt her cheeks turn pink, while Scarlett snickered.
"A-Alright Yami. S-Sure." Charlotte agreed. "Anyway, we sh-should probably aim to get cl-closer. You know, t-to get inside."
"Or better yet, we g-get inside." Scarlett added through chattering teeth. "Th-That is part of the mission, r-right?"
"It is, yes." Yami replied. "Come on Prickly Queen, Scar." Scarlett and Charlotte nodded in agreement; the 3 trudging through the snow and into an underground passageway that'd lead into the castle.
Unbeknownst to them, a Spade Kingdom Mage had took notice of them and contacted Queen Eva Zogratis.
"Milady, 3 powerful Clover Kingdom Magic Knights have entered the underground passageway that leads into the great hall." The Spade Kingdom Mage spoke into the communication device.
"Thank you for the information, soldier." Eva remarked. "I'll send Morris and my personal advisor to…...deal with them.…."
0713MM: Lots of dialogue, a fight scene, and 3 Magic Knights being sent on a very dangerous scout mission. Of course, these 3 Magic Knights are 2 Magic Knight Captains and 1 Vice Captain. But it will be enough to fend off Morris and Queen Eva Zogratis's surprise personal advisor? We shall find out...in Chapter 35!
