Chapter 2: Star Labs.
"Послушай-"
"You are at 113 Celesnky plaza, we have an F22 about eight miles out, Put the woman on the phone or it will blow the block before you can even make the lobby." Coulson said firmly from the other end of the call.
The Russian general blinked before swallowing the nervous lump in his throat, he then quickly put the phone to Natasha's head, so she could speak to the person on the other end.
"Coulson, what are you doing? I'm working and this idiot is giving me everything."
"I not give everything?" the general blinked, turning to look at his companions for reassurance. His English was terrible..
Natasha just gave him a 'Really' look.
"Nat, Barton's been compromised." Phil revealed with a sigh.
Natasha's expression darkened, and her tone went cold. "Give me a second."
Philip merely listened as his friend broke from her restraints and beat the hell out of the Russian scumbags.
About a minute later, her voice was back.
"Tell me everything." Natasha muttered, a cold calm overcoming her.
"I'll brief you once your back, For now though, Fury needs you to talk to the big guy." Coulson replied.
"Coulson, you know stark only trusts me as far as he can throw me.." Nat snorted, shaking her head.
"Oh I've got stark, you got the big guy and the kid." Coulson replied with a smirk.
Natasha cursed in Russian before hanging up the phone, she had some work to do…
Especially if she wanted two of their most powerful targets to come quietly.
(Central City, Hours later)
"Nicely done Flash, the CCPD have just arrived on scene so you can head back now. I'd say you've done enough for the day." Harrison Wells complimented the young man, looking down at his watch.
It was currently four in the afternoon.
"You sure? Because I'm still full of energy. I wanna do more." The speedster replied over the comms, leaving the tied up crooks for the police to deal with.
"That is admirable of you Flash, but you need to learn to not push yourself too much. You could easily hurt yourself or use up to much energy, energy that you could need for an important fight or confrontation." Caitlin reminded the teenager.
"Fine, I'm on my way back. By the way cisco, I saw this new comic place we've got our eye on open up. They've got novels and stuff from star wars and Doctor who to DC and BBC comics." Barry stated.
"Dude, the second I get off work you better meet me there." Cisco grinned, more than happy to explore a new comic store.
"Meet you there? bro I'm picking you up and running you there." Barry replied, causing Wells to shake his head with a sigh.
"Flash, need I remind you that-"
"I know Doctor Wells, keep my secret identity closely guarded. I just wanted a reaction from you, cisco we'll take your car." Barry chuckled.
Cisco pouted, having wanted to feel what it was like to go from one place to another, in a flash.
In a crescendo of thunder, Barry appeared before them. Orange-Gold lightning sparking across his very form as his molecules slowed down. "Miss me?" he joked.
"Welcome back mister Allen, I see that you have gotten faster." He smiled, glad to see his young friend was alright.
"Yeah, for a few moments there It felt like I was somewhere else as I ran." Barry replied, taking off his cowl to reveal a full head of brown curly hair.
Wells frowned. "What do you mean?"
"Well I could have sworn I saw a vortex like corridor of multicolored lightning in front of me, like a mile away… and I was slowly getting closer to it." Barry shrugged, taking a sip of his protein shake.
Caitlin had managed to make a milkshake version of her protein bars, it tasted a bit better than the bars themselves, but Barry wouldn't say that to her face of course.
"Amazing.. Perhaps this energy that flows through you has a realm of its own, another dimension even. The Reverse Flash did speak of a speed force, did he not?" Wells pointed out, rubbing his chin in thought.
"I can definitely feel something when I run… it's like electricity, it feels good. I can feel it at my fingertips, and when I concentrate-" Barry trailed off.
A spark of gold went across both of his hands, which Wells noticed with shock and awe.
"As interesting as that is, I'm afraid you're gonna have to do some more research on that some other time." A silky feminine voice stated, causing everyone to look towards to the cortex entrance.
Standing there with a smirk on her face, was Natasha Romanov.
"As I told Shield in the past, I am more than happy to consult with them, but I will not join them." Harrison said, walking to stand in front of Barry.
"Sorry Wells, I'm not here for you. We've got a situation brewing, we need kid bolt here for something that's coming." Natasha deflected, looking to Barry.
Said teenager stopped drinking for a second and merely blinked. "Huh? You need The Flash?"
"Excuse me?" Natasha blinked.
"It's what his sister named him on her blog, The Flash. So that's what we call him." Cisco pointed out, gesturing to the lightning bolt symbol on his computer monitor.
"Okay then, yes. We need you Flash, it's life or death." Natasha replied.
Barry looked to Harrison, who shrugged. "It's your decision Barry, we are your team and support. And Shield doesn't send the black widow unless its serious, so its up to you."
Barry nodded, putting on a serious face. "Okay then… you need the fastest man alive, you've got him." He smirked, putting a hand on his hips.
Natasha smirked. 'He's adorable, such a cinnamon roll' she thought to herself.
"Then if you would please follow me, we've got a QuinJet waiting." She stated, gesturing to the CCTV cameras.
A QuinJet thus decloaked, much to the shock of Cisco and Caitlin.
Oh boy…the day just got interesting.
