Chapter 2

She doesn't remember falling back to sleep until she heard someone talking.

'Why is she sleeping on the couch?' A voice asked.

'Probably because you snore' A second voice replied. She felt how the person came closer picking something up from the floor. 'Both of you really have no sense on how books should be treated. Just put them back on the shelf when you're done reading and don't just drop them on the floor.' That voice definitely belonged to Darcy.

'I don't snore!' That must be Stormy 'Now, can we please shut the window. It feels like I am standing in a freezer' She whined and walked over to the window to close it, completely ignoring her sisters comment on how books should be treated.

'Darcy is right. You do snore' Icy said slowly sitting up. ' What time is it?'

'Way too early. But we noticed you weren't in your bed, so Darcy decided we should look what you were up to.' Stormy said ' I'm gonna go take a shower.' With that she turned around and walked out of the room leaving the two older girls alone.

'Are you alright?' Darcy asked her sister

'Why wouldn't I be?' Icy answered without looking at the brunette.

'I heard you….you had a nightmare, didn't you?…that's what woke you up' It wasn't really a question, but rather a statement. 'It's not the first time you disappeared in the middle of the night! So I ask you again. Are you alright? Do you want to..I don't know…maybe talk about it?' Darcy continued and Icy could see in her eyes that she wanted to say more.

'No.' Icy wasn't sure which question she intended to answer and before Darcy could ask her they heard the apartment door open.

'Alright. I think I got everything. Even those cookies Stormy wanted.' The girl coming in had black hair that only reached her shoulders. She was about the same age as the three sisters and she was carrying two bags full of groceries and four cups of coffee in her hands. She was limping.

'Addy? What happened to you?' Both sisters walked over to the girl and helped her put the groceries in the kitchen

'Huh? Oh, that. Don't worry about it. You should see the other guy. I'll take care of it in a second.' Addy said sitting down at the kitchen table.

'Was that the door. Did Addy get my cookies?' Stormy came rushing in, her plans to take a shower completely forgotten.

'Yes, she did. And she brought breakfast and coffee.' Addy said taking a bite of one of the bagels she got for them. For a while none of them talked.

'So. What is happening outside in the real world?' Stormy asked taking a sip of her coffee ' When is it safe for us to go out?'

'What are you talking about?' Addy looked at her confused

'Are the Winx still looking for us? Or did they finally give up. It has been almost a month now.' Darcy wanted to know.

'Oh..ehh..well…No, they are still determined to find you. But don't worry they will soon give up. They will never find you here.' Addy said giving a short glance in Icys direction. The white haired witch didn't look up.

'But it is boring to just sit around and do nothing.' Stormy whined

'You could read a book' Darcy said smirking.

'No thank you. You're just going to lecture me on how to treat a book.' Stormy answered.

Darcy rolled her eyes 'So what is the plan? We can't just stay hidden for the rest of our lives. Since when do we hide from these fairies anyway ' The brunette wanted to know.

'We'll figure something out' Icy said bringing the conversation to an end.

Soon Addy stood up to take care of her leg. She was certain it wasn't broken but she still wanted to take a potion against the pain. Darcy volunteered to help her brew the potion. Stormy decided she was going back to bed for some more sleep leaving Icy alone

'Darcy said you haven't been sleeping' Addy said walking out on the balcony and sitting down next to Icy.

'How is your leg?' The witch answered changing the topic not even looking at her.

'Better. The potion worked.' Both girls looked into the distance. The apartment was on the outskirt of Magix. Not a lot of people are living in the building or in the area in general, so they could only see very few people on the streets. The protection spell around them made it look like the apartment wasn't inhabited. ' I can make you a potion to make it easier to fall asleep if you want to' The younger girl offered. Of course she wasn't going to drop the topic.

'I am fine.' Icy replied.

Silence surrounded them and neither of them knew what to say. After a while Addy started to talk again. ' They never were.'

Confused about the sentence Icy finally looked at the black haired girl. 'What do you mean?'

'The Winx…these fairies you have been fighting for the past two years…They are not looking for you. They never were, after Valtor was defeated.' Now it was Addys turn to avoid Icys glance.

'I know.'

'Then why do Darcy and Stormy think they are searching for you? What is going on Icy?'

'I think my memories are back.'

Not expecting that response Addy just stared at Icy not knowing what to say. So Icy continued.

'I have been having strange dreams in the past couple of weeks. Darcy thinks I've been having nightmares but I think they are more than that. They feel real.'

'Icy…' Addy quietly said but was interrupted.

'Did you know?'

'Yes.' She knew lying to the ice witch was a bad idea. So she just said the truth.

'Does Darko know?' Icy questioned. Addy nodded. 'We knew who you were the whole time. What do you remember?'

'Everything.' She answered ' You know it's quite funny. Obsidian changed my memories but never completely erased them. The people I knew from before still existed in my memories just under different circumstances.' Icy stopped talking for a moment. 'A few years ago when Darcy and I attended Cloudtower in our first year and we met you and Darko in one of the Cafés I knew who you were. Darcy and I both remembered you and when Stormy attended Cloudtower a year later she remembered you as well. We remembered you as two children we used to play with in an orphanage before being taken to Obsidian by Mandragora. Of course now I know this orphanage didn't exist and it was actually a palast we used to live in. It's difficult to explain. My memories are still a little foggy.' Icy finished

'We were confused….When you knew our names in that Café. We thought you knew everything. It took Darko and me a couple of minutes until we noticed Obsidian did mess up your memories. We decided not to tell you. We weren't sure what kind of influence the ancestral witches had on you' Addy said.

'What happened to Whisperia?' Icy asked

'You don't know?' Addy was surprised at that

Icy shook her head 'Not exactly. We were busy trying to steal the dragon flame. I didn't really pay attention in history classes but I know barley anyone lives there anymore.'

Addy took a deep breath before answering ' After you had been brought to Obsidian things started to escalate. Medora made businesses with the wrong people. Covens and Demons. She made a mistake and they took their revenge. They annihilated most of the planet. Only few cities survived. '

'What about Medora?' Icy wanted to know

'Most people think she died. But she was never found. Do Darcy and Stormy remember anything?' Addy said but Icy only shrugged 'You really should talk to them.' Both of them got silent again.

A moment later Icy stood up and went back inside only to come back after a minute. She was holding something.

'Do you know what this is' The ice witch presented something that looked like an oversized coin. It looked really old and had inscriptions that Addy didn't understand.

'It is a summoning coin, right?' When Icy nodded Addy continued 'I have read about those. They were used to communicate with other witches. I don't think they are used anymore. Most witches nowadays have phones. Where did you find it?'

'It just appeared in my pocket.' Icy answered. 'You are right, most witches nowadays have phones. That doesn't mean they are not used anymore.'

'You received a summoning coin?... Icy…who did you get it from.?' Addy was sure she already knew the answer to that question.

'The ancestral witches…A few hours after we ditched Valtor. We were supposed to come back to Obsidian. I was certain they wanted to punish us for just leaving him to his fate. I didn't answer them . They are still trapped in Obsidian so they can't just come after us….. I didn't tell Darcy and Stormy what I had done. And then I started having these dreams' Icy said starring at the coin in her hands. She gave the other girl a minute to process what she just said.

'Addy? Say something. I don't know what to do.'

Addy looked absolutely perplexed. 'I think I should put up a few more protection spells.'

During dinner that evening Darcy and Stormy were the only ones talking. Addy had put up more protection spells and she hadn't told Darcy and Stormy about what Icy had said to her earlier, which the ice witch was grateful for. The black haired witch was lost in her own thoughts.

'Addy?...Addy?...Addyson?' Stormy pulled her out of her thoughts

'Oh...Sorry? Did you say something?' Addy asked

'You are surprisingly quiet. Did something happen? We saw you put up more protection spells. Maybe we can help.' Darcy said

'Oh...oh no...don't worry...it's fine...everything's fine...right Icy?' Icy gave her a glare and then said ' Yes...everything ...is fine...'

All four of them could feel the tension in the room.

'Wow..that almost sounded convincing' Stormy laughed 'Seriously what is wrong. You look like you have seen a ghost. I didn't know anything could shock you like this.'

Before any could say something Addys phone started to ring. She quickly took a look at who is calling her before answering her phone.

'Hey...No I got away without being seen...I forgot to call...I know sorry...No I'm not coming back today. Maybe tomorrow or the day after...'

'Who is on the phone?' Stormy wanted to know but only got a 'shhhhhh' as a reply before Addy continued her conversation 'No one just some...friends...Yes I do have friends...alright...bye' She hung up ignoring ho everyone at the table watched her.

'Was that Darko? You didn't tell him we're here?' Icy asked

'I didn't tell him. Why do you have a problem with that? Are you going to teach me now that you shouldn't hide anything from your siblings? Be my guest...here my phone...Call him and tell him you're here.' Addyson stared directly into Icys eyes while putting her phone in front of the ice witch.

'Will somebody please tell us what is...' Stormy started to say angrily. All of a sudden there was an explosion outside causing all four witches to stand up. 'What was that?' And then everything happened very quickly. A second explosion erupted and part of the roof came crashing down forcing Icy and Darcy to quickly move to a safe space while Stormy and Addy went into the other direction. There was dust everywhere making it difficult to see. And they were certain the explosions had caused a fire when the firealarms went off.

'Are you alright?' Darcy shouted over to where she suspected Stormy and Addy were. After a long pause they got an answer 'Yeah..I think so. We need to get out of here. Any ideas?' Icy and Darcy were relieved when they heard the other two witches were fine as well.

'We could try making it down to the basement. There is a door that leads to the other side of the apartment building. We could try to escape from there.' Addy shouted.

'What are we waiting for?' They all made their way out of the apartment towords the staircase when another explosion shook the building

'I thought you put up protection spells? How did they find us? Who are we running from, anyway?' Darcy wanted to know.

'How about we try to find out who is trying to kill us after we get away!' They all went down the stairs.

'Maybe we can fight them? There are four of us!' Stormy said loudly, she had to cough when she accidently breathed in some of the dust.

'I don't want to brag but if they got through my protection spells whoever is after us is much stronger than us.' Addy replied.

They made it down the staircase and were about to go to the door that leads to the basement when they noticed everything was on fire. There was absolutely no way they could leave through the basement.

'Maybe we can put out some of the flames at the front door? I don't see another way out of here!' Darcy said

'Anyone with a different escape plan?' Icy asked around when no one answered she said 'Alright let's get out of here' The four immediately went to work and managed to get out of the building expecting to come face to face with whoever was responsible for this.

'Up there. I think someone is still in the building. I'll get them out' A voice said.

'Oh no...was that..' Darcy started

'Watch out there are the Trix!' A second voice that could only belong to Stella shouted over to her friends. The Trix and Addy could only watch when she suddenly was hit by an energy ball causing her to drop out of the sky. Tecna and Musa rushed towards her friend to make sure she was alright.

'Stella are you ok? What did you do to her' Musa angrily asked the Trix.

'We didn't do anything pixie!' Stormy answered equally as angry before she was hit by an energy ball as well, knocking her out.

'Stormy!' Icy and Darcy rushed to their unconscious sister. 'We can't fight those pixies and carry her away from here' Darcy said

'Now is not the time to fight. We need to get away from here. Are you able to see who is attacking us?' Icy asked her sister but she just shook her head. 'No, I can't see anyone'

'Careful the building is about to collapse!' Flora shouted.

'We need to move.' Addy said. Icy and Darcy grabbed their sister and Musa and Tecna the princess of solaria.

Stormy was still unconscious as was Stella but somehow they all managed to put some distance between them and the building.

'Addy you're bleeding' Darcy noticed a bleeding wound on her head. She probably got it when the roof collapsed. She felt a bit dizzy. 'I think you might have a concussion'

'That explains why I feel like I might throw up..' Addy agreed sitting down on the floor. 'You two should take Stormy and get away from here.'

'We are not leaving you here like this.' Icy said taking a look at her head while Darcy was still trying to wake up Stormy. They did not notice someone approaching them.

'Don't worry. Neither of you are going anywhere.'
