Author's comments: Okay so I'm dumb. I looked up the wrong chart when planning out the tournament. Its suppose to be Prelims, Championship, Quarterfinals, Semifinals, Finals. So technically these are the quarterfinals but i'm not going back and fixing everything so these are Semi Finals A. Yes I am lazy.
Max wasn't exactly excited about his match. Don't get him wrong, he enjoyed battling, but his opponent, Bonnie, didn't seem like the best trainer. She was childish and obviously didn't take battling seriously. He was sure he was going to wipe the floor with her.
"The Battle between Bonnie and Max is about to begin! This is a three on three, single battle, no substitutions are permitted! The battle will be over when one side is out of Pokemon, or a trainer forfeits! Begin!"
"Lets go Gallade!"
"Come out and play Meowstic!"
On Max's side formed a tall bipedal Pokemon with sharp bladed arms, while on Bonnie's popped out a small bipedal cat Pokemon with two fluffy tails. Meowstic purred from her spot on stage while Gallade glared, ready to battle.
"Future Sight Meowatic!"
"Meow~" The white cat's folded ears extended, revealing a second pair of glowing red eyes. The area around Gallade rippled, before wormholes opened around him, forging glowing bursts of electrified Psychic energy. Gallade growled in pain as he took the hits.
"Psycho Cut Gallade!" Gallade's forearms lit up with blue psychic energy, and he swung his arms, hurling glowing blue blades towards the cat Pokemon.
"Protect." All four of Meowstic's eyes glowed blue before a blue force field surrounded her, protecting her from the sharp blades. "Psybeam!" Protect fell and a multi-colored beam of yellows and pinks shot forth.
"Quick Guard and then move in with Close Combat!" Gallade quickly extended his arms, swiping the air and forming a green and yellow force field to protect himself. As Psybeam fought to go through Quick Guard, Gallade's bladed arms extended and he glowed an orange aura. He ran forward, and threw a punch at Meowstic.
"Another Future Sight is forming Meowstic, keep him in place with Psychic!" Bonnie called out. Meowstic's eyes glowed a faint blue, catching Gallade and holding him still before he could land a hit on her. The air rippled around them, indicating Future Sight about to fire off another attack.
"Break free and dodge!" Gallade started struggling against Meowstic's Psychic, attempting to swipe and hit the small psychic cat away, but it was no use as orbs of electrified psychic energy fired, knocking Gallade out.
"Gallade is unable to battle. Will Trainer Max please send out his next Pokemon or forfeit!"
"No way I'm forfeiting!" Max growled. "Return Gallade, lets go Mightyena!" Bursting from its Pokeball was a massive black and gray canine with sharp fangs.
"Let the battle between Mightyena and Meowstic Begin!"
"Sucker punch, now!" Before Meowstic could respond, Mightyena took off at fast speeds, sprinting across the field and headbutting Meowstic with a high powered Dark Type Attack. Meowstic mewled in pain, staggering backwards.
"Disarming Voice!"
"Meow~ow~" Meowstic opened her mouth and released damaging, high pitched sound waves that shook the stadium and caused Mightyena to howl in pain as the Fairy Type Move dealt damage.
"You're close, use Crunch!" Mightyena growled and his teeth started oozing dark energy. The hyena sprung forward, jaws snapping.
"Protect!" Mightyena bounced off the blue force field.
"Shadow Ball!" A black ball cackling with purple wisps formed in Mightyena's mouth, before he launched it at Protect. Shadow Ball after Shadow Ball collided with Protect, damaging its barrier until finally shattering it. "Crunch!" Before Meowstic or Bonnie could properly respond Mightyena surged forwards and crunched down on Meowstic. Meowstic thrashed, but Crunch did too much damage, and she passed out.
"Meowstic is unable to battle. Will Trainer Bonnie please send out her next Pokemon or forfeit!"
"You were great Meowstic, have a nice rest!" Bonnie praised as she returned the white cat. "Come out and play Gogoat!" On the field formed a large goat Pokemon with sharp, handle shaped horns and foliage cascading down his back, and chest.
"Let the battle between Mightyena and Gogoat Begin!"
Max frowned as he eyed Mightyena, Disarming Voice delt way more damage than he wanted to admit and the Gogoat looked strong. "Sucker Punch!"
"Grassy Terrain!" While Bonnie might not be able to dodge a move like Sucker Punch, she was able to hype up her defense a little bit while Gogoat took the hit. As Myghtena collided with Gogoat, the goat Pokemon started growing green, and the arena pulsed as grass type moves increased potency.
Max frowned and called out his next attack. "Fire Fang!"
"Razor Leaf!" Mightyena's mouth burst into flame and the hyena attempted to bite at the goat, but before he could land a hit razor sharp leaves burst front he foliage along Gogoat's chest, hitting Mightyena repeatedly until the dark type crumbled to the ground.
"Mightyena is unable to battle. Will Trainer Max please send out his next Pokemon or forfeit!"
Max sighed and recalled Mightyena. "Lets Go Banette!" A doll like Pokemon with dark gray and zipper like smile took the stage.
"Let the battle between Banette and Gogoat Begin!"
"Knock Off!"
"Energy Ball!"
Banette's hand sparked purple energy, and she flew toward Gogoat. As she approached Gogoat, Gogoat hurled sparkling green balls of energy at her, though Banette was able to dodge every hit. With a cry, Banette slammed her hand into Gogoat, knocking him around until a close range Energy Ball sent her back.
"Will-o-Wisp!" Banette flipped in the air, bringing forth wisps of blue and purple flame that hurled themselves at Gogoat. Gogoat bucked as Will-o-Wisp hit their mark, dealing damage.
"Razor Leaf!" Gogoat cried out, sending Razor Leaf hurling towards Banette.
"Shadow Sneak!" Banette headed downwards, landing on the ground and dodging Razor Leaf as she went. When she landed her shadow stretched out along the ground, heading straight towards Gogoat.
"Bulldoze!" Gogoat reared up on his hind legs, his front legs glowing orange before slamming into the ground, causing it to shake and for dust and dirt to stir up, blacking the trainer's eyes. Banette cried out as she took damage, while Gogoat was attacked by Shadow Sneak.
"Gogoat is unable to battle." Bonnie worriedly looked at her Pokemon, sure enough Gogoat was out cold. "Will Trainer Bonnie please send out her next Pokemon or forfeit!"
"Return Gogoat! You were so so so cool!" Bonnie cooed to her fallen Pokemon. "Are you ready to play Dedenne?" Bonnie tilted her head towards the tiny rodent Pokemon, who perched on her shoulder during the battle.
"Denna!" Dedenne squealed. Bonnie extended her arm and Dedenne ran down it with ease, leaping onto the battlefield, just barely resisting the urge to spark his antenna like whiskers.
Max looked at Banette. Banette was mostly uninjured, but Bulldoze had done some damage and she was tired. "Lets end this quickly Banette!"
"Ba!" Banette agreed.
"Let the battle between Banette and Gogoat Begin!"
"Electric Terrain!" Dedenne lit up in yellow sparks, blasting the area around him and infusing the battlefield with electric type energy to hype up his own attacks. "Now get in close and use Nuzzle!"
"Use Knock Off!"
Dedenne took off. Despite his tiny form, he was fast, easily dodging the approaching purple encased fist, and instead leaping at Banette. Dedenne rubbed his paws over his face, stirring up some static electricity before nuzzling against the ghost type, sending shocks through her body. Banette leapt away as fast as she could, but her body still pulsed with yellow strands of electricity.
Max growled. "Psychic now!" Banette's eyes lit up blue, but another ripple of static caused her to flinch.
"Play Rough!" Dedenne approached Banette swiftly, and flung himself at her, tussling and dealing damage as he roughly tackled and played with her.
"Knock Off!" Growling, Banette's hand lit up purple, and she swung at Dedenne, sending him sliding back. "Thunder Wave!"
"Hit them with a Thunder Shock!"
Banette extended her arm, it pulsing with electricity that pulsed out like a wave towards Dedenne. Dedenne didn't move an inch, and instead let out a burst of yellow electricity. Thunder Shocki tore through Thunder Wave, soaking up some of Thunder Wave's energy before hitting Banette. Banette cried out, and fell to the ground, her red eyes swirling.
"Banette is unable to battle! With no other Pokemon Bonnie is the winner of this match!" The referee called out.
"Haha! Yes! We did it Dedenne!" Bonnie squealed, and Dedenne jumped back onto the platform with her. Bonnie grabbed him and spun him around before nuzzling her cheek against his. Dedenne smiled, letting out loving little sparks.
"No Way!" Max screeched after he returned Banette, halting the crew that was fixing the field for the next match and pulling the attention from everyone in the stadium. "Theres no way you beat me! You had to have cheated!"
"You're out of line Trainer," The referee narrowed his eyes. "There are psychic Pokemon, and video cameras in every battlefield in this building, specifically so cheating is impossible."
Max scoffed. "I'm the son of a gym leader! There's no way a little girl could have beat me without a held item! She cheated and I'm not leaving until she admits it and I get my-"
"That is enough!" A stern voice echoed, drawing attention away from Max and up to the speaker. Ash moved to stand beside Lance in the Champion's Booth, taking his microphone so he could be heard. Ash's eyes were narrowed in anger, his shoulders stiff in ways Max had only seen directed at Team Rocket and other such bad guys. "I've never seen such a dishonorable display in a tournament. As this man here explained, there are Psychic Pokemon, and video cameras watched over by various referees. As you are well aware, due to being in this tournament yourself, each trainer is required to write down what Pokemon they are using in what match, with no substitutions being allowed unless their Pokemon of choice evolved, or was gravely injured in a previous battle. Before you're even allowed on the stadium to battle you are checked for held items, and potions. And before you dishonor your father's gym even further, by claiming she couldn't have beat you, may I remind you that she herself was guided by a gym leader, her brother. If anything, this match was extremely balanced." Ash sighed and directed his stance to the onlooking crowd. "Pokemon battling is supposed to be a conversation. Not only a conversation between opposing trainers but a conversation between trainer and Pokemon, a way to understand each other and work together. While there is nothing wrong with being competitive, or being upset at a loss, and wanting to win, throwing a tantrum when you do not get your way soils the battle that just commenced." He turned back to Max. "Kicking up the fuss not only soiled Bonnie's well earned win, but it's also as if you spit on your Pokemon's hard work. Your Pokemon battled for you today, and instead of thanking them and graciously accepting your loss you disrespect your Pokemon, your opponent, the wonderful crew who have agreed to work this tournament, and the many spectators you have come to watch. I hope you can learn from this, because if this is how you act at a small tournament such as this, I hate to see your showing at the Pokemon Legue." Ash handed the microphone back to Lance, and sat back down. The stadium was silent for a few moments before the crowd started clapping in agreement.
Max's eyes misted over with humiliated tears, and his face turned red in humiliation. Quickly, he turned on heel and made his way back up to his friends. With balled up fists he scrubbed away his tears best he could.
Author's Comments: I did find Bonnie somewhat annoying in the anime, I won't lie, but I like her way more than Max. Max is such a spoiled, stuck up kid that thinks he knows better than everyone else despite not having much, if any, actual experience with Pokemon. At least Bonnie knew what she was doing, having helped take care of Clemont's Pokemon. Sure Max took care of Munchlax, but thats pretty much it, Bonnie took care of the whole group's Pokemon when she could. Okay, rant over.
As for the disclaimer, I decided to start addinging it on every chapter, after reading some other fics with disclaimers, but I'll start putting it at the bottom so you can ignore it if you want. I just really don't want to be sued or something, even if I know most people are smart enough to realize the fanfiction writer does not own whatever they're writing about, because if they did many things would be changed.
