May sighed as she returned to the stands, having walked Max back to the hotel. "Hey I forgot my Pokeballs." She said instead of a greeting.

Misty silently passed her Pokeballs over. "How is he?" Dawn asked.

"He said he was going to take a shower, but before I left dad called so, he's probably talking to dad right now." May ran her hand through her hair.

"I can't believe he scolded a kid in front of the entire stadium." Misty huffed.

"He did start complaining in front of everyone." Brock pointed out and the fire in Misty's eyes dwindled. Sheepishly, the older man looked at May. "I'm not saying he deserved to be publicly humiliated, but what he said was way over the line."

May offered him a tense smile. "I know, honestly I think my dad called to scold him more. It was uncalled for." With a deep sigh, she put on a big smile. "Well, It's my battle next!" Waving, May excused herself.

—-

May shifted awkwardly on her platform, waiting anxiously for the referee to start the match. Her opponent, Gladion, was staring at her with narrowed eyes, a Pokeball ready in his hand.

"The Battle between Gladion and May is about to begin! This is a three on three, single battle, no substitutions are permitted! The battle will be over when one side is out of Pokemon, or a trainer forfeits! Begin!"

"Glaceon, take the stage!" From her Pokeball popped out an ice blue quadruped Pokemon with diamond shaped fur patterns along her spine.

"Noivern."A large bat-like dragon materialized, flapping her teal and black wings.

"Alright!" May heaved a sigh of relief, realizing she had the type advantage. "Start off with Ice Shard!" Glaceon's mouth opened wide, firing multiple glistening shards of ice at Noivern.

"Boomburst." A light blue aura picked up around the bat like Pokemon, especially around her speaker like ears, and a large sonic wave burst out.

Boomburst hit Ice Shard, the two moves colliding and canceling each other out. May frowned, and readied their next attack. "Ice Beam, freeze the stadium!" Glaceon barked an affirmative and fired a frosty blue beam at the ground, freezing over the stadium, before aiming for the walls.

"Ascend." Noivern spread her wings, and flew into the sky to keep out of Ice Beam's reach as the entire stadium was cloaked in ice. Noivern still shivered at the cold as the surrounding air touched her scaled skin. "Hurricane."

"Mirror Coat!"

Noivern flapped her massive wings, sending harsh, swirling winds toward the quadruped. Glaceon's fur coat glistened a shiny, reflective aura, but as Hurricane wasn't a direct attack, it didn't return the power at the dragon/flying type, and Glaceon was tossed around by the strong winds.

"Ice Beam Glaceon!"

While still tumbling in Hurricane, Glaceon unleashed Ice Beam. The frost beam fired sporadically, zipping through the tough winds, and by some miracle, struck Noivern, causing her to cry out and plummet as the cold beam hit her wings. Noivern pushed herself up, but the cold from the direct attack, and the cold from the ice covered stadium was causing her blood to cool, making Noivern move slower.

"Get out of Hurricane with Shadow Ball!" Glaceon built up a large Shadow Ball in her mouth, building the ghost type energy before firing it into the Hurricane. The combination of the powers hitting each other caused the air current to disrupt, and Glaceon started to free fall, but managed to twist mid air to land on her feet. "Secret Power!" As soon as Glaceon's feet hit the ground, he glowed a vibrant, sparkling pink, and sprinted towards the grounded dragon.

"Double Team." Gladion ordered, glaring at the ice that hindered Noivern's flight. Noivern grunted and in the blink of an eye there were three Noivern standing in the stadium. Glaceon glanced between the different Noivern in confusion, and powered through, bursting through one of the fakes. "Bite." The leftmost Noivern roared to life, lunging and biting into Glaceon's side, causing him to cry out in pain.

"Quick Glaceon, Ice Shard!" Glaceon growned, turning her head just so that she could fire the sharp shards of ice at Noivern. Noivern dropped Glaceon to cry out in pain, the shards having dug into her face as they dealt damage. WIth a final cry, Noivern collapsed on the ground, her eyes swirling.

"Noivern is unable to battle. Will Trainer Gladion please send out his next Pokemon or forfeit!"

"Return Noivern." Gladion ordered, and Noivern vanished in a beam of red. He ran the pad of his thumb over the red and white ball kindly and took out his next Pokemon as he eyed the heavily damaged Glaceon. "Lycanroc." From his Pokeball came the werewolf looking Pokemon, red fur smooth and completely undamaged.

"Let the battle between Lycanroc and Glaceon Begin!"

"Outrage." Vicious red energy swirled around Lycanroc, and he stormed towards Glaceon, swiping his claws at him in heavy blows that sent the ice type reeling before he jumped away.

"Ice Shard!"

"Stone Edge."

Blistering ice shards and sharp stones collided, canceling each other out before they could hurt their targets.

"Swords Dance, and then Outrage!" Lycanroc howled, and misty blue swords swirled around him, followed by orange energy swirling around him as his attack was raised. As the orange subsided, it was replaced with red, and Lycanroc's eyes glowed an angry red. WIth a snarl, he pounced on Glaceon. Glaceon let out a cry, and crumbled to the ground, passed out after the onslaught of blows.

"Glaceon is unable to battle. Will Trainer May please send out her next Pokemon or forfeit!"

May stared wide eyed at her fallen Pokemon, and shakily returned him to his Pokeball. Gulping, she grabbed her next Pokemon, throwing her out. "V-Venusaur, take the stage!"

"Let the battle between Lycanroc and Venusaur Begin!"

"Quick, use Vine Whip to reel him in!" Venusaur grunted, two quick vines shooting out from the flower on her back. The vines wrapped around Lycanroc, holding on tightly before reeling him in.

"Let her reel you in and then use Counter." Lycanroc growled in affirmative, letting himself be pulled forward as red energy pulsed around him.

When Lycanroc was close, May called out her next attack. "Close range Razor Leaf!"

Venusaur roared, sending hundreds of blade-like leaves spiraling towards Lycanroc, butLycanroc had his own orders. With a roar, he drew his front paws back, and swiped repeatedly at Venusaur, dealing damage to her while Razor Leaf chipped away at himself. Venusaur growled in pain, and loosened Vine Whip in an attempt to get away. Lycanroc used this to jump up, and out of the way of Razor Leaf.

"Outrage." Lycanroc's eyes once again turned red, pulsing with red energy.

"Vine Whip, send him flying!" May ordered, and Venusaur's Vine Whip shot out like bullets.

The werewolf like Pokemon dove towards Venusaur, easily twisting out of the way and dodging the vines before he slammed into the top of Venusaur's head. Lycanroc delivered heavy blows to the larger Pokemon's head, causing her to cry out and thrash her vines wildly. Getting a lucky hit, Vine Whip smacked into Lycanroc's side, sending him skitting across the arena's dusty ground before he righted himself, breathing heavily. Venusaur wasn't in much better shape. Despite the type advantage, Lycanroc was higher level, and stronger.

Biting her Lip, May called out her next move. "Razor Leaf, and then use Synthesis while he's distracted!"

"Stone Edge, followed by Crunch before she can heal." Gladion ordered cooly.

Large, sharp stones swirled around Lycanroc before shooting outwards, colliding with Razor Leaf and keeping the move at bay while Lycanroc approached Venusaur. As soon as Venussaur shot off Razor Leaf, she became taken with beautiful while sparkles, taking energy from the sun in order to heal herself up. Lycanroc, however, didn't let her heal fully, his wide jaws oozing with dark energy. He snapped his jaws around Venusaur's leg, causing her to cry out, distracting her from being able to fully heal.

"Now, Outrage once more." Lycanroc pulsed with red energy once again, and attacked.

May panicked as she watched Venusaur take damage. "Vine Whip!" Vines shot out and hit Lycanroc, but he wouldn't give up his pursuit. With a loud growl, and a pain filled cry, Venusaur fell over, her eyes swirling as she passed out.

"Venusaur is unable to battle! Will trainer May please send out her last Pokemon?"

May's lip wobbled as she returned Venussaur, whispering praise to her darling grass starter. Looking across the field, she eyed Lycanroc, who stood worse for wear across the stadium. He was breathing heavily, body covered with marks. Strong as he was, he was a Rock Type who had battled an Ice, and Grass Type one after the other.

With a deep breath, May pulled out her final Pokeball. "Beautifly, take the stage!" From her Pokeball popped out a beautiful butterfly Pokemon, with a black and white body and beautiful black, blue, red, and gold wings.

"Beautifly!" Beautifly chimed happily, and May smiled at her.

"Let the battle between Beautifly and Lycanroc Begin!"

"Stone Edge." Gladion called out, eyeing Lycanroc warily. Lycanroc was strong, but had taken a fair number of effective hits, and they used Outrage quite a bit, making Gladion worry about confusion.

Lycanroc ignored his trainer's worry however, and shot shards of sharp rock towards the butterfly just before him.

"Psychic Beautifly, Send them back!" Beautifly cried out before her eyes lit up a glowing light blue. Blue aura surrounded Stone Edge, bringing it to a halt before they moved in reverse, soaring back towards Lycanroc. Lycanroc dodged his own attack with ease, but May wasn't finished. "Now hit him with Aerial Ace!"

Beautifly flew up a bit before somersaulting in the air. As she came back down while streaks surrounded her body, and she sped downwards, intent on hitting her opponent.

"Let her hit, and then use Counter." It was risky, Gladion would admit. Given Lycanroc's state Aerial Ace could completely knock him out, but as it stood, it was all he could do. Stone Edge might hit, but May coud again call for Psychic, and Gladion didn't want to call for Outrage again, mostly for the fear of confusion, but also because he had no guarantee that Beautifly wouldn't just ascend to dodge the attack. No, the best they could do in such a situation was let the move hit, and hit back before the flying type could escape back into the sky.

Lycanroc stood his ground, watching the approaching Beautifly with narrowed eyes. As soon as Beautifly hit his chest, the stadium fell silent, watching with bated breath. Lycanroc was dealt a major blow, but he wasn't down yet. His body started to glow red as counter took effect, and before Beautifly could get away, Lycanroc delivered a swift blow, dealing double the amount of damage he took to the bug type.

"Now, Stone Edge."

"Get out of there and use Silver Wind!"

But it was no use, Lycanroc was slightly quicker, and shot stones at Beautifly before she could get away, dealing damage as she tried to take to the sky once more. In a desperate attempt, she flapped her wings, sending sharp blades of silver through the air to dispel the stones. A few stones cracked and crumbled away, but Lycanroc just shot out more, overwhelming Beautifly even once she was in the air.

"Finish this with Crunch."

While Beautifly dealt with Stone Edge, Lycanroc leapt into the air after her, kicking off his own attack to higher and higher. May tried to call out and warn Beautifly, but it was too late as Lycanroc crunched down on Beautifly, knocking her out in one swift move.

"Beautifly is unable to battle! With May having no other Pokemon, Gladion is the winner of the match!"

The stands went wild with applause, but Gladion ignored them. As soon as Lycanroc landed, Beautifly in his arms so she wouldn't free fall into the ground, he passed out, his body having taken too much damage despite their win. Swiftly, Gladion recalled him, and May followed soon after.

May sighed sadly as she returned Beautifly, but she offered Gladion a thumbs up, and a weary smile. He seemed to notice, and simply nodded before vanishing into the other side.

May quietly made her way back to her friends, dropping her Pokemon off with Nurse Joy first, before tiredly sitting down beside Dawn. "That was so stressful." She whined, pulling small smiles from her friends.

"You guys looked good out there!" Dawn offered. "Sorry you didn't win though."

May nodded at her best friend. "Yeah, that sucks, but at least it was something different. And I got a ton of new ideas for contests!" She offered, causing Dawn's eyes to light up with a competitive gleam.

Gladion passed his two injured Pokemon to Nurse Joy before he walked back to his seating area. Before he could sit down, an arm snaked its way around his shoulders. Gladion froze for a millisecond before relaxing into the touch.

"You were awesome!" Kiawe offered, reaching up to ruffle the slightly shorter man's head.

"Lycanroc really stuck it out!" Lillie beamed.

"I know, I was so worried about that Aerial Ace!" Serena admitted bashfully.

"You guys are over reacting." Gladion grumbled, turning away to hide his pinking cheeks.

"They are not!" A slightly staticy version of Ash's voice echoed, and RotomDex floated up to Show Ash's face on Face Cam. The short, tanned man frowned at him. "You guys were amazing. Learn to take a compliment!"

Huffling, as if the very idea was some huge task, Gladion Grumbled. "Fine. We were pretty awesome."

"Heck yeah you were!" Lana giggled. "Lycanroc is on a whole new level! What a Power House!"

Huffing fondly, Gladion watched as Ash got onto Kaiawe for still being around when it was his battle next, something about the issue with Max, and the short break there after, causing a bit of a time crunch. Either way, Gladion sat back and prepared himself to watch his other friend battle.

Author's Comments: May only did as well as she did because of type advantage, I just wanted to make that clear.

I am back, thanks for waiting while I went to deal with family stuff and took a break(school ended and once we got home its just been too hot to think properly, or really do anything). I don't have any chapters backed up, so you do have to wait a few weeks for the next chapter like usual but I'll try to pick up my schedule again.
