Steven: Argh! This bag is very heavy.

Steven struggled to carry the black garbage bag into his home in Little Homeworld.

Steven: I really should have asked for help with this bag, my back feels like jelly.

Pushing open the door to both his and his friend's and family's house he dragged the black garbage bag in after him. Entering the living room Steven set down the garbage bag, huffing and puffing as he caught his breath.

Steven: I'm never going to do something like that ever again.

Having caught his breath the 16-year-old half-gem reached into the black garbage bag and pulled the strange device out, some garbage going on the floor.

Steven: How does this work? What about this?!

Steven pressed a button on the device which had a strange symbol on it, as soon as his finger touched it the device began to make a humming noise.

CDVV: ONLINE! LOCATING UNIVERSE...

Startled by the sudden voice that came from the device, Steven jumped up slightly in fright.

CDVV: UNIVERSE LOCATED: REBECCA SUGAR'S STEVEN UNIVERSE. UNIVERSE-24012!

Steven's eyes widened at the mention of his name.

CDVV: RETRIEVING UNIVERSE-24012 CHARACTER SHEET... PROJECTING CHARACTER SHEET!

The device glowed a bright shade of blue as the names of numerous gems and some humans as well. All of which Steven knew.

Steven looked over the long list of his friends and family, confused about how the device knew about all of them even the names he gave.

Steven: How the-

CDVV: 16 CHARACTERS LISTED DECEASED OR CANNOT EXIST AT THE SAME TIME! COMMENCING REALITY MANIPULATION!

Steven: Wait, what?!

The entire room lit up in white light as Steven passed out...

Steven: Ah! my head.

Rubbing his sore head Steven pushed himself back onto his feet, slightly wobbling in the process. Opening his eyes fully he squinted as light flooded back into his retinas.

Connie: Steven?

Looking around Steven's eyes landed on Connie Maheswaran, his girlfriend.

Steven: Connie?

Amethyst: Not just her.

Steven looked around, everyone listed was here from himself to Fluorite except his mother and the 15 others that were listed.

Blue Diamond: This is a very intriguing place, no matter how much I try I cannot use my abilities.

All of the other gems tried to use their abilities and none were able to do so.

Peridot: Interesting, we should be able to use our abilities no matter the environment and yet this area disables it.

CDVV: ATTENTION ALL STEVEN UNIVERSE CHARACTERS PLEASE TAKE A SEAT AND WAIT FOR DEATH BATTLE TO START!

The CDVV was a few feet away from all of them, it was glowing with unknown mystic energy that quite frankly startled them.

Amethyst: Now hold on for a minute, where even are we and what do you mean by characters?

Amethyst was shouting at the device, now normally she would be shouting at an inanimate object however, The CDVV was more than a living being.

CDVV: EVERY GEM AND HUMAN IN YOUR WORLD IS A PART OF THE STEVEN (UNIVERSE) UNIVERSE ALSO KNOWN AS UNIVERSE 24012! WHICH WAS CREATED BY A WOMAN NAMED REBECCA SUGAR AND HER CREATION OF YOUR SHOW, WHICH IN RETURN CREATED YOUR UNIVERSE!

Steven: Does that mean we aren't real?

All of the gems and humans looked at each other, we're they not real?

CDVV: INCORRECT, ALL OF YOU ARE AS REAL AS YOU COULD POSSIBLY BE, YOU EXIST BECAUSE OF YOUR CREATION IN ANOTHER UNIVERSE!

Lars: Woah, that is kind of unbelievable.

A second after Lars said that the CDVV made a humming noise as its circuits worked.

CDVV: 16 CHARACTERS THAT DO NOT EXIST ARE NOT PRESENT COMMENCING REALITY BENDING!

Peridot: That is not advisable-

Everything around the gems and humans began to change and warp, reality itself could be heard cracking and twisting. Yet, as soon as it started it ended and what appeared baffled the mind of many of them.

Multiple fusions stood in front of them as well as Ruby and Sapphire.

Pearl: Rose...

Pearl went towards Rainbow Quartz which was the fusion of both her and Pink Diamond/Rose Quartz. As soon as Pearl was in front of Rainbow Quartz, she erupted into a barrier of light and out came Pink Diamond herself. Full, alive and whole.

Steven: Mom?!

Rose Quartz: Steven, you've grown so much.

Steven wrapped his arms around his mother as Greg stared at his now alive wife.

Rose Quartz: You're still as handsome as ever Greg.

All three of them hugged each other deeply causing all the watching gems and humans to "aww".

Lapis poked Malachite who was a fusion of her and Jasper.

Lapis: There fully alive, why are they not responding to anything?

CDVV: DUE TO BEING CREATED BY REALITY BEING MANIPULATED, THEIR BODIES ARE UNABLE TO WORK DUE TO BEING THEIR BEINGS, THOUGH THEY CAN STILL HEAR AND THINK! THEY WILL GAIN FULL CONTROL ONCE AGAIN WHEN THE FIRST DEATH BATTLE EPISODE BEGINS!

Nice Lapis: Might I kindly ask what Death Battle is? It sounds very gruesome.

CDVV: DEATH BATTLE IS A FIGHT TO THE DEATH BETWEEN TWO POPULAR VIDEO GAMES OR POP-CULTURE CHARACTERS! HERE ARE THE RULES AND A SHORT SUMMARY!

The CDVV glowed again as a summary and a set of rules is projected using a hologram.

Death Battle is a fight to the death between two popular video games or pop-culture characters. Ben Singer was the creator, researcher, writer and (for the first 19 episodes or so) animator of the show. To make the show more interesting, two characters were created to host the show and give details about each of the characters before the battle would take place.

Wiz (Ben Singer), a mad-scientist straight-man, and Boomstick (Chad James), a crazy redneck with a strong southern accent, and a love of weapons. Since 2014, Nick has joined the team to help out with research. Torrian was hired as a full-time animator. While Death Battle has had several animators during its run, the first series was animated by Ben. As well as hosting the show, Ben and Chad are the primary researchers and go through a lot of debating to determine the winner.

Rather than a mere popularity contest between the two combatants, a lot of effort is put into researching which of the combatants would win. All variations of the characters are thoroughly researched before Ben and Chad try to find an actual winner. It's much more complicated than it sounds, especially when many Death Battle combatants are in a variety of different forms of media (video games, comics, TV shows etc) and results are determined by physics and mathematical problems.

The fight at the end of the battle is not what determines the outcome of the battle. Nor is it an indication of what would happen if a Death Battle took place. It is simply an entertaining demonstration showing the winner winning a fight.

Rules of Death Battle fights.

1. Combatants possess no prior knowledge of each other unless specified by canon or otherwise.

2. To ensure a fair fight, all moral restraints from killing are ignored. All other traits are considered.

3. A character's maximum potential is examined unless otherwise specified. Factors unrelated to the characters cannot end the battle.

4. All official material related to a character is applied unless found contradictory to the source material.

There are several unofficial rules, however, they will not be listed here until another time.

Connie looked a little afraid as Steven wrapped his arm around her, Doug doing the same with his wife.

Mean Lapis: Hold up! How will all three of us Lapis tell each other apart?

Steven: Oh, I have an idea, Since you Mean Lapis have curly hair you'll be called Curls and Nice Lapis you'll be called Freckles due to your freckles!

Mean Lapis: That is good enough...

CDVV: SEATS!

Around 50 cinema seats appeared before the gems and humans as they all sat down.

CDVV: WE SHALL COMMENCE!

A gigantic 150-foot wide TV appeared above the CDVV as it fuzzed to life...
