I stood still in the field of red blue and green scattered around me. My team and others I knew that perished in the war surrounded my feet, dead. Across the field was a large group of faceless brown vested people running at me.
I tried to move or fight but my body was frozen. I watched them run at me and all I could do was close my eye's and wait to die. When the noise faded and I still was alive I opened them.
There in front of me was a large green field of flowers, the moon light glowing on Kakashi's hair as he stared at me like he understood both dark brown eye's.
He vanished and then I large lighting bolt hit me from behind, pain spreading through my body.
"Wake up." Some familiar women yelled.
I sat up sweating in my bed.
I kicked my feet over my bed in the dark room and grabbed rubbed my hair. That dream was not rare but the part with Kakashi was, unsure why he was randomly there, I barely said two words the guy.
I mindlessly stood up and slid on my weapons pouch next to my bed like normal without thinking and headed to my front door. The road was empty and quiet. The moon was gone from the sky tonight but the small warm wind was comforting in the quiet night.
I slid my one hand in a pocket and started to walk on the warm dirt road in my bare feet. I then came to the edge of the compound and just continued on, wide awake and needing the peaceful walk. The light yellow glow of the street lamps brought peace, I almost jumped before the Anbu ran over my head rolling my eye's at my slight startled move.
My eye's went from following them to up in the sky where a large something blocked the view of a few stars making me freeze and squint. I jumped up to the highest roof to get a better view and I think it was a large bird.
I was not alone, a few yards away was the group of Anbu also looking to the sky.
I almost wanted to go over.
I then saw this small something fly over another star and I just moved without thinking tossing a Kunai at it.
It exploded in the sky, the light from the explosion made the rest seeable, there was many flying small black boxes towards the town in a large area from this large bird.
They are bombs.
I almost yelled in shock but moved naturally hitting as many as I could in one shot. The more I blew up the more I could see where the rest were going. The anbu down the area splitting up and joining me.
I missed one near me as it landed behind me blowing up the roof and knocking me on my knees. Such strong bombs too, I got up fast.
People came from every direction but the bombs were getting fewer and fewer. I watched the shadow of one man jump into the sky, the light barely illuminating him as he vanished into the wind. He was suddenly above the bird, with a small red ball of light I watched them both drop from the sky.
I moved towards him wanting to help when he just vanished like air again.
"A summon." I heard someone say loudly.
We all stood there staring at the now empty sky, waiting for more.
I followed the masses to the area where the Anbu was, I was short and could not slid by as so many people were talking and asking questions at once and pushing passed me so I backed up and listened.
"I got a note." I heard him speak. "Attached to the Hawk." He said making everyone stand there quiet. "Are you as good as you think you are? This is your mission, come at me lightly."
"Get the Hokage." Was yelled.
"What does that mean?"
"Who is it from?"
I stepped back as most headed towards the Hokage building. I let them walk off noticing some were in pj's. One large bear of a man was in pink boxers with blue hearts. Thick hair on every part of him making me gape and blush at his nakedness and turn away embarrassed.
"Ya, that guy is hairy." I looked over at Kakashi with his mask sitting sideways on his head. "Where are your shoes?" He asked calmly staring at my feet a little startled.
"I just dreamed about you, why I was out here." I smiled at him kindly.
"Really?" He was taken back, his eye ran me over with emotion for once that I could not place, worried or shocked I am unsure.
"Ya, I think you killed me."
"Oh." He looked away. "Um, sorry." He scratched his chin.
"You better be." I joked.
"You took out many, wanted to say good job." He was emotionless again. "I should follow the masses and get information on this." He paused and looked back. "You should come, you were at the start of this, first one to blow one up."
"Yes please." I smiled and walked off following him.
He paused looked down and then at me with his back to me. "Go get shoes, I will wait"
"Thanks." I ran off quickly, I was not far, I might need him next to me to get in on this.
Grabbing boots I slid them on in a run, a few people coming out looking around. "Bomb's, gone, but weird note." I yelled to everyone around me. "Going to Hokage." I jumped off and sped back to Kakashi a few on my heals.
The place was packed, some random man bashed into me trying to get to the front, they pushed me into the corner annoying me as I bumped into a small table and knocked over the tiny plant. "fuck." I spoke softly under my breath as I caught it in my hand before it hit the ground and placed it back. "Sorry buddy." I spoke to it I patted the leaf when it got silent.
"We need to find out what the next move is." His croaky voice spoke but I could not see him being so short. "We are on alert as of now, I assume it will be some form of attack on the village, I will set up groups to watch all corners and I will get Anbu on finding out who is behind this."
I felt off like someone was watching me and looked around before looking straight up. There was Kakashi above me hanging from the celling with his hands in his pockets making me smile, He looked straight down on me with a nod and watched the Hokage speak.
That, is something I should have done.
Kakashi was first to leave as he was Anbu.
He made group after group, So many Uchiha ended up in here making me wonder if I should just go home with their eyes and skills. He looked up at me and squinted but not in a, no go home way, like he was trying to place me.
"Go to the Library, it is right in the middle of homes and may be targeted for information. I will send help." I headed over quickly.
Just to be sure no one was inside I took a sweep around from running on the ceilings like Kakashi and I found it cool. I did not hear or find a hidden person before I moved to the roof and took a seat.
I could see people heading in random directions when one headed right to me, a shadow in the dark. He smiled landing in front of me making my heart beat up.
Itsuki sat down behind me. "I heard you needed a partner."
"Ya." I smiled at him. I leaned into his back as he pressed into mine, watching both sides.
"Well, Police may not be boring." I said so quietly.
"Ya, this is interesting."
"I think, we are waiting for a riddle." I spoke.
"What makes you say that?"
"Just the way the words were but there was not one on the paper."
I shifted my arm sitting a little more straight, I felt his hand barely hit mine. It made me flutter and then push it away inside me, now is not the time for all this. It is drama we don't need right now but he did not move and neither did I.
"Bombs and birds and small black boxes." He mumbled and then said it again.
"It was a summon." I said to him as he tried to think.
"What kind?"
"It was dark and far but I think it was a large Hawk."
"Eye's like a hawk." He mumbled.
We heard a few chirps making us both alert for a second but it was just morning, the birds were just waking up, sun will be up in a little over an hour.
"What if we need to know before the sun rise?" I looked up at the sky at this random thought that slipped out of my mouth.
"Was there anything in the bombs? Did one fall and not explode?"
"I don't know." I looked out, I wonder if someone thought to find one unexploded.
I wonder.
I waved down the nearest group and it was Kakashi's team, they stepped to us a little annoyed but I mentioned what he said and he stood there quiet for a moment.
"You got good eye's." One said to Itsuki. "You saw the zone they fell in, both go look." letting us leave our post. I moved around roofs and ally's but all I found was a small black food container.
If we are wrong that is fine but have to find out as someone is fighting the whole leaf village. After ten minutes I started to feel like this was a mistake when some women called out she found one. She yelled again that she found something as I and others ran to her.
Wow this can't be true, damn Itsuki good call.
Kakashi's Anbu team, three random ninja's and us landed near this chunin with long blue hair. She stepped back as we did and he slowly opened the box worried it will explode, looked up and pulled out a paper.
One of the random shinobi patted Itsuki on the shoulder as we locked eye's with a small smile that I was also amazed by him.
"Did you find this in time?" He read. "Eye's watch the village like a hawk in the dark, sun will be two hot."
"That is what we already thought." She said looking at the note confused. "Was this supposed to be found beforehand?"
"No, it asks if it was to late." Someone spoke up. "Look for another hawk?" He looked at the sky.
An Anbu took the letter and read it as I peeked over his shoulder along with Kakashi as people looked around, Itsuki slid next to Kakashi when Kakashi pointed to the word. 'two.' Spelt wrong making him look and point at the cliff of heads, my eye's followed.
They were gone so fast a little wind blew in my face. I stood there shocked, snatching the note out of the air. "What?" Someone spoke.
"The seconds eye's." I yelled and ran after them. "The sun is to late."
"Ill inform the Hokage." One yelled as a few followed me away.
We have only a limited time. I clung to his eye as people moved inside behind it as the path crossed behind them. I looked for cracks when an Anbu on the second eye started to dig his weapon into it.
"There is a chance this person can hide or move rock." I pulled out mine and rammed it in the side boosted for speed, I felt nothing, I moved and rammed it into the pupil, I felt the earth moved differently and voiced it to the other.
I dug fast when he pulled out a small black box. Worried at the fact it was different I moved faster as he started to climb the faces taking it away, I found a small piece of paper as people came sliding down next to me, I handed it off to make sure there was still not a hidden bomb as they climbed back up.
I came back up empty handed as people ran off a little late to the party, I could see a small glint in the sky that the sun will be up in a matter of minutes, worried we needed to complete this before hand.
Looking around I asked where the man was that found the bomb was but before I could finish there was this loud noise in the forest across from the village up here. A second later a large wave of smoke came flying out of the tree's.
The Anbu running at us fine.
"Nevermind." I said quietly as I stood with the Chunin and now the Anbu. I paused and listened looking out into the village but that was the only explosion making me breath again.
"How did someone do that and when?" This guy holding the note spoke. I wonder myself, we have decent guards, so many since the nine tails it was boosted recently, someone would have seen this kind of bomb be placed.
"We just stopped a landslide." A deep voice of the Anbu spoke as I grabbed the note.
"The dead should not be dead but the children should be alive." I mumbled confused.
"Ya I am trying to think, three groups ran off, one to the graveyard, one to KIA stone and one to the school." He spoke as the Anbu took it from my hands.
I looked away as I decided where to go, where did Itsuki go?
"The dumbest riddle." The Anbu spoke jumping away.
"Ya, it was bad." I said.
"Not much of a poet." The last man spoke.
I headed to the graveyard where I found a small group split up looking around. They were pretty white clear stones, some bodies did not have the grass grown over and that was what people were looking at.
I walked around unsure, they looked recently cleaned but the graveyard worker was not here tonight, so he did it yesterday?
"Why would a bomb be here." One yelled. "We don't have time for this." The sun was slowly lighting up the sky. "Stay and look." Some older man yelled running off, he did not share his thoughts.
Flowers placed on many stones, most were in the section from the last catastrophize of the nine tails.
I spotted a small fresh spot of blood.
I squatted down as it was standing out on the white clean stone. There was a small yellow rose recently placed. The name was of some girl, the date was sad. She was a child and she died in the attack.
I took in her last name but recognized it some how.
I ran it over and over in my head.
"Takeshi." Where do I know that? "Takeshi?"
He was right that, why would a bomb be here of all places but this made me curious. "Hey." I yelled to who was left. "This is odd."
The two of them ran to me.
"This, might be." He leaned over wiping it away but it was dried. "Not to old it is still red."
"Do you know the name Takeshi, I can not place it." I said.
"That is the name of one of the strongest shinobi." I looked at him. "We call him the lightning beast."
"Oh I know that nickname, that is where I know it."
"That is, not good." A man mumbled.
"I will inform the Hokage." I stood up. "You two go to the other groups." I assume that blood was on purpose for our next clue. I got to the building as the sun was getting into the sky pretty decently. I have not heard a bomb yet.
I walked into the Hokage office, it was him and his attractive but weirdly scary assistant that deals with archives, she looks pissed all the time and when she smiles it just makes you feel cold but she was a good person it was just her DNA.
I waved as the girl eyed me over. "So.."
"They found a note at the school." He spoke up shocking me making me speechless.
"The riddle mentioned shopping and they are searching the whole shopping district." He seemed like he knew that was where the next one was.
"Okay, so." I mumbled. "Just something I saw at the graveyard, I guess this man called the lightning beasts child died in the nine tails attack. There was blood on her tombstone."
"Blood?"
"Just a little, like a small amount of splash back."
He stood up fast his pipe dropping from his mouth startling me.
"He can summon Hawks." He looked out the window. It got cold in the room as the girl looked at the ground so darkly but that was normal for her. "Grab people and go to his home." I nodded turned to leave when a strong shock of lightning went through my back just before I got to the door, my body's muscles tightened and I fell forward as the Hokage yelled my name.
"Can't have you leave." She yelled as I pushed my arms trying to stand up a little out of it my body buzzing. "I wanted this to be the showdown, I wanted your death to be the end." I heard. I moved to get on my feet looking back pissed as she stood between me and the Third, suddenly the transformation dropped and it was a large good looking man with bright green hair standing there, a large scar on his face.
The lightning beast.
Holding a sign I tried to make a small wind dagger but my body was not responding the way I hoped when he faced me and another shock went through me even worse then before, my eyes went black for a moment before I was staring at the wall face pressed to the cold floor.
"It is this villages fault." I heard.
"Third." I said trying to get up again worried about him.
"Just fucking die." I rolled as he missed me getting on my feet feeling like air, the Hokage standing there staring sadly at the man, like he was torn. I ran at him pulling out my kunai but before I could throw them his fist slammed into my chest shoving me back in massive pain before he hit me with it one more time, stronger then the last and my vision went black.
I woke up to the cracked green ceiling, I tried to sit up fast my back and insides were in a little pain but I kicked my legs over worried to shit about what went down, my feet hit the cold ground and I saw many bandages all over me confusing me.
"Well you were not down to long." I heard looking at Kakashi laying on the bed across from me with a large book in his hand. He stood up cold heading for the door. "The Hokage wants to see you." He stopped at the door touching the frame with his hand and paused. "Nice job."
I straightened my back. "Thanks." I smiled even if I did not do much. "But my back burns." I said trying to reach where it was but it was right where I could not touch, I almost fell backwards trying to feel it. He just stared at me like he regretted saying that.
"Ya, you are going to have a nasty scar due to the lighting just below your neck." I paused and looked at the women walking in, her dark hair in a bun. "To make you feel better, it is one of the cooler looking scars I have seen."
"Should see mine." We looked at him curious, I noticed she checked him out like I was, wondering where and what it looked like, a small glint in his eye at that. "Anyway he wants to see you." He paused at the door. "Why I was waiting for you to wake up."
"Looks like it was not you that killed me." I spoke mindlessly. He paused and looked back, the weird fear in his eye shook me before he vanished.
She looked me over healing me as I stared so confused at that reaction at where he just stood.
I felt like I needed to run after him and was about to but she shoved shoes in my hand. "He needs you right away." And walked off.
I jumped out the window and bounced to the roof looking for Kakashi but he was gone and the warning made me head right to the office when I could not find him.
The building and area around the large red Hokage tower was just a mad mess. I was shocked at the fight that had happened here that I completely missed.
I slowly walked up the broken stairs and the walls missing wall but it makes a nice view.
There was the third sitting at his destroyed table like it was still there as a few others were cleaning up. It looked odd to me with his small chair like everything was normal.
I was serious, worried as he checked me over his pipe moving in his mouth as he smiled.
"Thank you." He started. "Don't worry, you were right, because of you he could not ambush me, I am sorry I let you get hurt and sorry that your body got in the way of the fight."
I looked down on me as I pictured my sleeping body just laying there as they fought around me, looking at this place it was even more shocked I am alive feeling ashamed like I could have done better then that.
"He blamed the forth for the death of his wife and child, but he was dead. He then replaced my assistant, the riddles were to see if the shinobi in the village were even worth saving, if not the landslide, the bomb dug into the stone directly in front of the weapon shop would have hurt almost everyone."
"I feel I was over looking you but I heard what all you did and I will now be watching you."
I stood there confused still not speaking.
"I will send you on harder missions."
He then tossed this small bag at me. "You deserve some compensation." I stepped forward and caught it.
"Questions?" I shook my head a little blank. "Head home, take a rest." I just jumped out the large hole in the wall then taking the broken stairs down.
I ran here so damn fast worried as I stared sadly at the money, Kakashi still in my head. That look. I stood outside wondering where he went, I don't even know where he lives. I went looking for him, I don't even know what to say or do if I even find him.
But that fear, it filled him and damn it was hard to see any emotion from him and we may not be friends but.
I ran across Kure. "I heard you were a big part in ending the thing this morning." I looked to her, her smile filling her face.
"Where does Kakashi live?"
"What?" She looked so confused. "Umm." She pointed to her left. "He still lives in the house he lived with his father in, it is this cute wooden place along sun road."
"Thanks'." I ran off.
It was cute, this cute wooden fence, decently sized windows, even some garden. I opened the gate and walked to his door, giving a light knock. It took a second but he opened the door. The look in his eye made me feel very unwelcome.
"Your father had better style then my mom that is for sure." I joked with a smile peering behind him at the decent looking furniture. "Damn you need to come shopping with me."
"What do you want?"
"I just.." I did not know as I looked at him confused on what to stay. "I just wanted to make sure you were okay."
"Really?" He moved to slam his door. "I am fine." I stuck my foot out serious as he looked at me so coldly I froze. "Go see your boyfriend, he was waiting for you to wake up for a while."
"My what?" I was so confused. "Who?"
"Uchiha?" I looked confused and his coldness lightly faded. "I am good at reading people, there is something there if there is nothing yet."
"You think so?" I bit my lip and looked up, my heart filling with happiness. "Him too?" He nodded but looked at me a little weary now. I recognized the look, the look I get when people think I was nothing but a boy crazy young girl.
I sighed. "Been just teammates since the war." I said.
"Makes sense, I highly doubt they would let a Uchiha date a Yamanaka." And he slammed the door in my face. I stood there sadly and looked up at the sky. He has a point does he not?
I stepped back.
Well I tried, that is something.
I got down the street and noticed how he made me leave, distracted me and bailed. Damn, do I go back?
Freaking skill right there.
