Chapter 16: Epilogue
As the smoke clears, Hiccup, Hicca, Midnight and Toothless see nothing but bubbles on the waves to mark their disappearance. No sign of the Bewilderbeast... or Drago.
Toothless and Midnight hops down from the spire, cooling off as the glowing faded from their bodies, as people celebrate all around them.
All of the dragons - Berk's, Valka's, and even Drago's - land around Toothless and Midnight. Cloudjumper bows to the two Night Furies, starting a wave of bows, acknowledging their new two alphas.
Toothless and Midnight looks around, surprised, Midnight was about to bow to her mate, but Toothless wable her not to, saying she doesn't have to bow to him and he wants her to lead the dragons by his side, Midnight smiled at her mate. Hicca saw then and realizes something.
'Every king must have a queen to lead.' Hicca thought with a smile.
And then, Toothless and Midnight then lets out two majestics roars. The assembled dragons join in, roaring in tribute to their two new alphas.
Toothless and Midnight turns to Hiccup and Hicca as they approached.
"You never cease to amaze us, guys." Hiccup started as he and his sister's foreheads touch their dragon's as well.
"Thank you." Hicca finished as she and her brother closed their eyes, feeling their connections to their dragon.
Toothless and Midnight gurgles, closing their eyes briefly, feeling the connection as well, and then they licked the Haddock Twins faces. Hiccup and Hicca squeals in surprise, trying to get away from their licks.
"Toothless! You know that doesn't wash out." Hiccup told his dragon.
"Midnight! Seriously? In front of our own tribes?" Hicca playfully scold her dragon as the crowd around them laughs at the four playfulness.
All around them, Berk's dragons reunite with their fellow Vikings.
"Stormfly!" Astrid cried out in joy as Stormfly bounds into Astrid, nuzzling her in joy to be back together.
"Sparkfire!" Raeda called out as Sparkfire came towards her rider as Raeda hug her snout. "We'll never be apart again. I promise." she told her dragon as she and Sparkfire nuzzled in a hug.
Henry's Dragons, Wildstar, Sandstorm, Sandtrapper, Scout and Lockjaw landed on the ground, in front of Henry. "Guys. Your all back!" Henry called out in joy as all five of his dragons nuzzle all over his body in happiness.
Gobber reach out his hand and hook when he saw his dragon coming closer to him. "Oh, give me a cuddle, Grumpy!" he yelled in joy, until Grump lands on top of Gobber, flattening him. But he is still happy that he got his dragon back.
Relieved to the point of tears, Snotlout and Fishlegs race towards the expectant Ruffnut…
"Who's my little princess?" Fishlegs asked to someone that is not Ruffnut.
And then Snotlout and Fishlegs ran right past her to embrace their dragons.
"I missed you so much!" Fishlegs called out as he embrace Meatlug.
"Don't you ever leave again, Hookfang!" Snotlout said to Hookfang, but happy that he has his dragon back.
Ruffnut grumbles, dejected. Barf dips his head in to console her. "Oh Barf!" She hugs him. But hugs the wrong head, Belch looms in for some affection, but Ruffnut pushes him away. "Not you." she said as she went and hugs the right head.
And into Tuffnut who glowers back at her, but hugs his side of Barf and Blech, happy that the Thorston Twins have their dragon back.
Hiccup and Hicca smiles, taking in the happy reunions of the Vikings and their dragons. Skullcrusher approaches him, without an owner to reunite with now that Stoick is gone. Hiccup and Hicca pets him, as Eret approaches.
Those was some pretty fine dragons wrangling back there." Eret said to them. You two would make good trappers." he comment on them.
Before the Haddock Twins can respond, Skullcrusher nuzzles Eret affectionately. Eret chuckles and gently strokes him. Hiccup and Hicca looked at one another, nodding in agreement, thinking the same thing and turned back to Eret.
"Y'know, Skullcrusher's gonna need somebody to look after him now." Hiccup told to Eret as the latter turned to the Haddock Twins.
"Me?" Eret said in surprise.
Hiccup nodded his head in reassuringly as Hicca spoked up. "I think our dad would agree to give Skullcrusher a new partner, after he was gone." she said with a smile, knowing their father wanted Skullcrusher to continue on, even if he is gone, just like his kids.
Eret heard it and looked at Skullcrusher, considering it. "I'd be honored." he accept the offer on taking care of Skullcrusher now.
Valka walks up to her kids, bursting with pride. "Your father... he'd be every bit as I am to both of you." she said with a smile on her face.
"Thank you. We're really glad you're here, Mom." Hiccup said to their mother on behalf of him and his sister.
"We really glad to have you back home to us, even though our father is gone." Hicca added with a small smile.
"And here I'll stay and honnor his wishes." Valka announced with a smile, decided to stay with her kids again after 20 years, wanted to make up the time of being apart from them and to take care of them the same way her husband did after she was gone.
Toothless and Midnight arrives, purring at Valka's touches when she petted them. And then The Night Furies kids came to their parents, nuzzling them effectively, not leaving them again after 5 years apart from them. Toothless and Midnight then nuzzle their younglings, now happy that the whole family is back together again, not gonna lose them again, and the Night Furies kids wable to their kids, telling them that they are staying this time, never being separated again.
Astrid, Raeda and Henry strides to Hiccup and Hicca, beaming proudly to them.
"See? We told both you it was in here." Astrid places her hand on Hiccup chest, Raeda saw what she is planing, and steps backwards. And then Astrid then quickly pokes Hiccup's dorsal fin button, popping it open. Hiccup groans as Astrid, Hicca, Raeda and Henry giggles at his reaction.
"Ha, ha. Still doing that one?" Hiccup sarcastically asked his girlfriend. "That's hilarious." he added.
"You have that coming since we first found Eret, man." Raeda pointed out.
"Sorry bro." Hicca added with a giggle as Henry came closer to her while she's distracted, both he and Hiccup had smiles on their faces, knowing what are they gonna do.
"Come here, you." Both Hiccup and Henry said unison as Hiccup scoops Astrid close and pulls her into a kiss. Henry did the same thing to Hicca as they locked lips to each other, Hicca was caught off guard by the sudden kiss, but melted in and kissed Henry back, wanted to do this for a long time when Henry came to Berk.
Raeda smiled at the four couples in pride, knowing their future will be great.
"Oh." Gobber was surprise to see this as he tries to covers a gawking boy's eyes, but he boy moved his prosthetic hand to see the moment.
Gothi, the elder, taps Hiccup's shoulders, interrupting the four romantic moment. She gestures for Hiccup to kneel. He does so, respectfully.
Using ash from a heap of burnt wreckage, Gothi traces a Viking symbol onto Hiccup's forehead. She bows, showing the signs of him being the new chief of Berk.
Hiccup stands, Hicca came to his side, nodding their heads together knowing that Hicca will be his second in command to help him through his chiefing times, Gothi saw this and nodded with a smile on her face in agreement, knowing that the Haddock Twins will always be together as they are meeting Gobber's proud, smiling eyes. Gobber turns to the silent crowd and throws up his arms.
"The chief and his second in command has come home!" Gobber announced to all the dragons and Vikings all around them. And then the Berkians erupt with cheers and applause as both Hiccup and Hicca takes in the moment, acknowledging the weight of responsibility now upon them now.
Toothless, Midnight and their kids throws back their heads and blasts in celebration, spurring all other dragons to follow suit, lighting up the sky in a spectacular display.
Some time later, a sheep grazes lazily on the grass as a Terrible Terror struggles in vain to carry him off. Suddenly, both are snatched up by a passing dragon.
From the air, Ruffnut and Tuffnut wrestle over the sheep atop Barf & Belch. Ruffnut send the sheep flying toward Fishlegs. Snotlout nabs it instead, blowing a kiss mockingly.
Hiccup V.O
This... is Berk. A bit trampled and busted and covered in ice, but it's home.
Hicca V.O
It's our home.
They swoop past a gathered crowd on the battered bleachers as Snotlout dunks the sheep in his basket. Eret joins the race atop Skullcrusher.
They fly past Hiccup and Toothless, who are steadily hoisting a palette of timber and supplies onto a rooftop where workers are rebuilding the damaged houses.
He turned his attention to Hicca and Midnight, who are telling the workers in the air on how they're massive statue of Stoick doing, presently under construction to honnor his memories. He grins with pride, his sister turned and saw her brother, also grins in pride.
Hiccup V.O
Those who attacked us are relentless and crazy.
Hicca V.O
But those who stopped them? Oh, even more so!
Hiccup and Hicca both turned to looks to the horizon, scanning it from east to west to ensure that no trouble is approaching.
Astrid, Raeda, Sparkfire and Stormfly buzz past them playfully, coaxing them to join the game. They smiles.
Hiccup V.O
We may be small in numbers, but we stand for something bigger than anything the world can pit against us.
Astrid and Raeda soars past the blacksmith stall, waving to Valka, Henry and Gobber as they remove the armor from Drago's freed battle dragons with the Night Furies kids watching, wanted to great other fellow dragons that they freed.
Hiccup V.O
We are the voice of peace.
Hicca V.O
And bit by bit, we will change this world.
Realizing that he's late, Gobber hurries over to the sheep launcher and pulls the trigger, sending the black sheep hurtling into the air.
Astrid, Raeda, Sparkfire and Stormfly closed in on the black sheep, one of them about to see who can snatch it out of the air first, when suddenly, Hicca and Midnight dart past, beating them to it as the two girls smiled at their tricks. Hicca then tossed the black sheep to her brother next to her, wanting him the win as he and Toothless flew to his net. Toothless looks back with a gummy smile to his mate, Midnight gummy smile him back.

You see, we have something they don't.
Hicca V.O
Oh sure, they have armies and they have armadas…
Toothless and Hiccup dive toward the line of baskets. As they approach, Toothless bounces Hiccup into the air, allowing him to dunk the black sheep into Astrid's basket. They reunite on the other side. The crowd cheers!
Hiccup V.O
But we... we have…
Hiccup and Toothless land upon the chief's dais, joined by Hicca and Midnight next to him as their second in commands, Astrid, Stormfly, Raeda, Sparkfire and the other dragon riders with the Night Furies kids besides their alphas parents.
Both Hiccup and Hicca V.O
OUR DRAGONS!
Toothless and Midnight lets out two prouds roars as Hiccup and Hicca look out over Berk, both gleaming with pride.
