Chapter One
Kara's POV
After the Daxamites were defeated, J'onn and Miss Grant told me to take some time off. Both for Mon-El reasons. While I was upset, I wasn't as devastated as people thought. Either way, the downtime would let me fully recharge.
Since I had unlimited free time, I picked up a flower arrangement and lunch. Walking out of the private elevator, I smiled. "Jess, how are you?"
"I'm well. Always on time for lunch. I'll let Miss Luthor know you've arrived."
"Thanks." Of course I'm on time. I do my best to never miss lunch or dinner with Lena.
"Miss Luthor, Kara Danvers is here for lunch."
"Oh, I wasn't expecting her this week. Please, let her in."
"Yes, Miss Luthor." Ending the call, Jess motioned to the door. "Go ahead."
Pushing it open, I popped my head in. "Hey, you."
"Hey." A breathtaking smile lit up the room when Lena saw the Plumerias. "Kara, you didn't have to bring flowers and lunch." Taking the arrangement, she placed it on the coffee table.
"I wanted to thank you for saving us all again." I placed the to-go bag next to the flowers.
"I said I wanted L-Corp to be a force for good." Wrapping me in a strong embrace, Lena let her chin rest on my shoulder. I love these hugs the most. "While I'll always help if I can, I am irritated at Supergirl."
Panic rushed through me as Lena took a seat. "W-Why?" I stammered. What did I do?
"She sent your boyfriend off the planet." Patting the cushion, the CEO continued. "I bet it's nice having Cat Grant back at the helm."
"Oh, it is!" I chose my words carefully. "Supergirl had to." Sitting beside Lena, I unpacked the food. "It was send all of them away or his mother and her minions enslave the human race."
Placing a hand on my knee, Lena smirked. "You can be upset with her, Kara. No one would blame you."
Instantly, I missed Lena's touch when she leaned back to eat. "I guess so," I shrugged. "I'm just glad Supergirl helped save you from the ship. Who knows what that woman would have done to you."
"I am too. I'm not a fan of marrying my best friend's boyfriend and becoming queen." The CEO pushed around her food. "Besides, he's not my type." Yeah, men like Jack are. "Are you alright? You look ill."
"Y-Yeah, I'm okay. It's just…the thought of you being used and kidnapped makes me sick. Here," taking off my watch, I held it out to the brunette. "Take this. I know it's not your normal style but it has a button under the face that's a direct line to Supergirl. If you're in trouble, you can press that and she'll be there."
"I can't take this. As a reporter, you put yourself in the line of fire."
"I want you to have it. You need it more than I do." Literally. "Your safety means the most to me. Especially, since you help Supergirl so often. You're a high value target. I know you can take care of yourself but-," I'm rambling. I should probably stop.
Taking the watch, Lena swapped hers with it. "Thank you." Taking my hand, she fastened her watch around my wrist. "There. Now you're not without a watch."
"Lena, I can't-," Yup. Nope. Can't argue with that look. "Thank you."
"I do know my way around a gun," Lena grinned. I blushed remembering the few times I've seen her with a firearm. "The electric gun I used on the ship is my favorite. It got the job done without actually killing anyone." You never want to kill first. "What's that look? Do I have something in my teeth?"
"You just…you're nothing but good. You are definitely a good Luthor."
"Thank you. That means the world to me." Hearing my phone ding, I checked the message from Alex. "Is everything alright?"
Get to the D.E.O. ASAP -A
"Yeah." Getting to my feet, I slid my phone in my purse. "I'm needed in the office. Sorry to eat and run."
"No problem. Duty calls." Hugging me again, I didn't want Lena to let go. Something in my stomach told me the 911 message Alex sent wasn't good. "See you soon."
"Bye."
Flying into the D.E.O., I was met with the old Cadmus face on the large monitor. The only difference was this one had a red crack going from its forehead, between its eyes, and to the left side of the chin. "What's that?"
"Cadmus 2.0," Alex murmured.
"The recent alien attack sparked some of Lillian's extreme followers," J'onn continued. Pressing play, the video message began.
"You aliens have lived long enough on our planet. The worst of them being Supergirl. We are Cadmus 2.0 and we will finish what Lillian Luthor started." The screen went dark.
"When did you receive this?" Great. That's exactly what we need. Before Alex could answer, the alarm from Lena's watch sounded. "I have to go. Lena's in trouble."
"Kara, wa-,"
Landing on the L-Corp balcony, my stomach sank. Lena's office was a wreck. Papers, books, and glass were everywhere. The Plumerias were scattered across the floor. Tapping my earpiece, I couldn't speak. They have her. She's probably hurt.
"Supergirl, you can't just-,"
"They have Lena…" My voice shook. Looking around, I tried to find a ransom note. She used the watch and I wasn't there.
Moments later, Alex, J'onn, and Maggie entered. "There's not a note. I didn't touch anything."
Alex took my shoulders. "We'll find her."
"It looks like Luthor put up one hell of a fight." Putting on gloves, Maggie started to investigate. "Do you think Cadmus 2.0 is behind this?"
"Probably," Alex murmured.
"We have another video." J'onn pulled out his phone. We gathered around to watch. My heart clenched seeing Lena in a cell like the one Lillian had me and Mon-El in.
"Supergirl, if you want Lena Luthor unharmed, surrender yourself. You have twenty four hours to decide. We will be in touch. We know who you really are." The video ended.
"Kara," Alex turned to me. "You can't. There's too much that can go wrong."
"Your sister is right," Maggie added.
"I need to go." I need to get some air. Flying above the clouds, I hovered. They know who I am. If I do this, so will Lena. I should have told her the truth sooner. Pulling out the phone Lillian gave me, I called the only number that was saved.
"To what do I owe this call?"
"Where are your followers located? To save Lena, I have to surrender myself. I have to do it before their deadline otherwise the D.E.O. will try to stop me."
"How do you know this isn't a ruse done by me?"
"While you hate me and have a very particular relationship with Lena, you wouldn't kidnap her and lock her in a cage. Where are they?" Hearing the phone ding, I read the address. "Thank you, Lillian."

Lena's POV
Ow. My jaw is killing me. Wiping the sticky wetness I felt away, I saw the blood on my hand. I may not have superpowers, but I got in a few good hits. Hearing footsteps coming towards me, I waited for my captures. "Move it, Danvers. I guess we were right to use the younger Luthor for bait."
Danvers? To my horror, I recognized the blue suit. "Supergirl?"
The man opened the cage beside me and removed the bag he had over The Super's head. "Have a little chat while we get things ready." Shoving the blonde inside, he locked the door. "Any thoughts of escape are pointless. You can't bend or break these bars" With that, he left.
"Kara?" This has to be a mistake. That can't be her.
"I'm sorry, Lena. I should have told you months ago…"
No. It can't be. "Look at me." She did and my stomach dropped. It is true. Supergirl is Kara Danvers. I sat in the farthest corner glaring at the superhero. She lied to me. Even though she knew that was the one thing I always asked her never to do. She knows my past. Knows that everyone in my life has lied to me. Holding my jaw, I tried to ignore the throbbing.
"I came for you." Her voice was almost inaudible.
"What?" Great. It hurts to speak.
"I came when you used the watch. I wasn't fast enough." Head bowed, Supergirl held her knees against her. "I'm sorry…"
"You've said that," I hissed. Instantly, I felt guilty seeing The Girl of Steel flinch.
We sat in silence for a while until my curiosity got the best of me. "Were you ever going to tell me?"
"Yes. Next week after your project finished," Kara laughed bitterly. "I almost told you today when you said you were mad at Supergirl."
"Why didn't you?"
"I chickened out. Again. When we worked with your mother, she said something that made me decide to tell you sooner rather than later. Originally, I hadn't told you because I wanted to keep you safe. Alex had been kidnapped once because someone knew the truth and she almost died." Kara's grip tightened around her legs. "I couldn't let that happen to you." Looking around us, she scoffed. "A lot of good that did."
My heart ached seeing tears glisten in the woman's eyes. I'm still angry but I hate seeing her in pain. Moving closer to the bars, I sat facing Kara. "What did my mother say?"
"She knows the truth. When I asked why she hadn't told you, it was because she knew you'd eventually find out. She knew it would hurt you more to know I had lied to you."
"She's right. I'm very hurt and if I forgive you, it'll take a long time."
"I understand." Kara hid her face against her knees again.
Thinking back to my time on the Daxamite ship, things started to add up. "It makes sense now."
"What does?"
"Before Cat Grant projected her broadcast to fight back, Mon-El and I were about to be married." The same sickly look flashed across Kara's face. Why does the idea of me being with someone make her sick? "He told his mother this was a terrible idea because there were only a few people Supergirl truly cared about and I was in the top three."
A soft smile ghosted the woman's lips. "It's true."
"When we were alone, he kept muttering "oooh, she's going to kill me. I am so dead." I never realized who exactly he was talking about." A deep red crept up Kara's neck and colored her cheeks. "What went through your mind when the door opened and you saw us? I was the one you saw first." I paused, the scene playing in my mind. "I should have known then that Supergirl and Kara were the same person."
"Why do you say that?" The timid blonde moved closer to face me.
"Because your eyes lit up like they do when you, as Kara, sees me." Blood drained from the woman's face. "Why do you light up like that around me?" Leaning forward, Kara let her forehead rest against the cold metal. She's debating whether or not to tell me. "I suggest you tell me the truth if you have any hope of regaining my trust." I kept my tone stern but gentle.
Looking towards the camera that watched us, Kara sighed. "I can't tell you here. It's already being used against me and I don't want it to hurt you. I want to tell you but I've been too afraid."
"Afraid of what?" I've never seen her this torn about something before.
"Afraid of what you'd think of me."
On impulse, I reached through the bars and placed my hand on Kara's shin. The action caused her to meet my gaze. "Promise me that you'll tell me later. Just like you promised me that you'd always be here for me." She kept her word. She surrendered herself to whoever kidnapped me to keep me safe.
Placing her hand on mine, Kara smiled. "I promise."
"Do you know where we are? The men who came for me put a bag over my head at L-Corp."
"No." Kara's face fell. "Your mother gave me a location where I could find her followers. Once I arrived, they put a bag over my head and drove around for an hour or two. I was so worried about you that I lost track of the roads."
Hearing a heavy metal door open and close, two men came around the corner. They were dressed in black and each held a taser baton. "We can do this the easy way or the hard way. Put this on and solar flare. You should recognize it."
"It's the helmet Lillian made me wear…" Kara's voice trailed off.
"Bingo. This time though, you might want to rethink stalling. Mitch really likes violence. Especially against women. He gets results. So, if you want to keep your friend safe, you won't resist." The second man charged his taser and grinned at me.
Jumping to her feet, Kara growled. "Don't touch her! Give me the helmet."
"Good choice." Passing the device through a larger opening in the bars, he relocked the small door. "No funny business or Miss Luthor will pay the price."
Without a word, Kara placed the helmet on her head and flipped down the eye shield. "I'm sorry, Lena."
"Supergirl, don't," I whispered. I watched in horror as the superhero expended all of her energy.
Twenty minutes later, Kara fell to her knees, panting. Taking off the helmet, she passed it back to the man. "Thank you for making this so easy. We'll be back soon when you regain your powers."
"I need sun for that." Kara's voice was weak as she clung to the bars.
"Hmph." With that, the men left. Collapsing to the floor, Kara groaned.
All I wanted was to pull the fragile woman into my arms. "Hey, say something. "
"I'm okay…"
"Liar."
A soft chuckle escaped the blonde as she crawled towards me. Slumping against the bars, Kara tried catching her breath. "I'll be okay. I'm just tired."
Snaking my arms through the bars, I wrapped them around Kara's shoulders. "This is why you didn't want to tell me? People would use it to their advantage."
All she did was nod. A shaky hand held onto my forearm. "Lena, I-" Kara's hand fell and she went limp.
"Kara." I tried shaking the superhero. "Kara, you…you what? Finish your thought." She just passed out. She's not dead.

Kara's POV
Waking up, I winced from the bright light shining in my face. I'm not in the cell next to Lena. She was holding me. I miss her touch. Turning my head, I saw monitors and cords. "What the-,"
"Ah, you're finally awake." The man from earlier came into focus. Starting to struggle, I felt a painful sensation running through my veins. Holding a piece of green kryptonite, the man smirked. "I really wouldn't." He pulled out a remote. "If you struggle, Lena gets shocked." He gave me a tablet. The feed was of Lena strapped into a chair. "Her fate is in your hands."
She looks terrified. I caused this. I cause everyone I love pain. "How do I know this is-," The button was clicked. A second later, Lena screamed in pain. "Okay! Stop! I won't struggle."
Taking the tablet from me, he scoffed. "Love is overrated. It opens you up to weakness. You have something to lose and others will use that against you." Looking at the monitors, the man picked up the helmet. "Do it again. Afterwards, you both get dinner."
Remembering Lena's scream, I took the helmet. It didn't take me as long to solar flare this time. "I'm still weak. Sun lamps don't do the same as the actual sun." Taking the helmet, he left.
Laying back, I did my best not to cry. I'm being watched. I can't show any more weakness than I already am. I know the other guy's name is Mitch but I don't know this one's name. He looks like a "Todd". I know everyone at the D.E.O. is looking for us. I wonder if J'onn can read my mind from here. If he can, maybe I can feed him information.
Over the next hour, I thought about every minute thing that happened since I surrendered myself. I left nothing out. Even the part about Lena holding me. If you can hear me J'onn, save her first. Alex and Lena are the two people who are most important to me. Always save them before me. I paused, laughing to myself. Also, sorry. There will be a lot of Lena thoughts. I'll try to keep them G rated. If I have any chance to survive this, I'll have to think of her and Alex.

Alex's POV
J'onn groaned and rubbed his temples. Winn and I turned to look at the director. "What's wrong?" I paused. "J'onn?"
"Supergirl is thinking very loudly. She's been giving me information for the past hour."
"You can hear her?" Winn's eyes grew.
"Does she know where she's at? Who exactly has her? Anything that can help us find her and Lena?"
"They are being held hostage in a warehouse somewhere. She says it looks military grade. The two men she's seen are both white presenting, mid-thirties, one with a possible Scottish accent and the other an American accent. Mitch has black hair and Todd is the Scottish one. Todd isn't his real name. They're using the threat of torturing Lena to make her solar flare. She's had to do it twice now."
Running a hand through my hair, I sighed. "She's in love with Lena. Of course they'd use that against her."
"What?" Winn exclaimed. "She was with Mon-El for months."
"Only because she thought Lena was straight. Her ex coming into town didn't help."
"Oooh. That explains so much." Winn turned back to his computer. "A list of military or military-like warehouses and bunkers coming up."
"Knowing Kara, she'll probably only give you updates once a day because she knows how much it takes out of you. Today was an info dump to catch you up."
"We know Cadmus extremists took Lena to get to Kara," I thought aloud. "Winn, look for all known L-Corp warehouses and abandoned military warehouses. These people are working off the grid. That might narrow our search."
"Alex," J'onn motioned his head to follow him. Once we were away from everyone else, he continued. "One thing Kara expressed louder than anything else was to save Lena first. To make her the priority. She wanted me to always protect you and Lena first."
My stomach dropped. "Of course she did." Damn it, Kara. Always caring about others before yourself.
"We'll do our best to get them both back."
"I know." Feeling my phone buzz, I frowned at the blocked number. Listening to my gut, I accepted the call. "Hello."
"Why is it that your sister constantly gets my daughter wrapped up in these messes?" Lillian's irritability was icy.
"This is on you, Lillian." J'onn and Winn turned towards me. "Your followers were the ones who kidnapped Lena." Walking towards Winn's desk, I watched as the call was being traced.
"There's no need to trace the call. I want to help you save my daughter. We work together. After she's safe, you can continue chasing me." As if on cue, the trace ended and showed Lillian in the building. "Do we have a deal?" All guns were pointed at the eldest Luthor. "I can help. You already know once Lena's safe, I'll bail. I've proven that. Lena is the only one of them I care about."
What the hell are you going to do if they get together? "True. If you work on finding and rescuing Lena, we can do the same for Supergirl."
"I know who she really is. I have the alien registry, remember?"
She's infuriating. "They're being held hostage together. They're torturing Kara. She's not putting up a fight so they don't harm Lena. Kara surrendered herself against our orders to save Lena." That look. The mother in her is fighting the hatred of aliens. I wonder if she knows how Kara feels.

Lena's POV
"Good news, Miss Luthor." The man from earlier entered the room. "Supergirl is doing exactly what we want so you get fed." Tossing a paper plate on the table revealed my dinner. The ham and cheese sandwich looked safe. "It's not poisoned. We need to keep you alive and well. If something happens to you, our leverage with Supergirl is gone. You have fifteen minutes to eat."
"Do I not get a drink? I also need my hands to eat."
"Watch your tone, Miss Luthor." Pulling out an eight ounce water bottle from his cargo pants, he snickered. "Maybe I'll let Mitch have the keys to this room. He's on watch tonight."
"You do that and she'll kill you all." A sharp sting crossed my cheek. The sound echoed in the small room. That's going to leave a mark.
"You have a lot of snark for a prisoner," he growled. "She's National City's golden girl. She's too good to kill." Untying one hand, the man walked away. "Fifteen minutes. Then you get tied back up." With that, I was left alone.
I'm glad to know Alex and whoever she works with are doing whatever they can to find us. The men who kidnapped us have no idea who they're dealing with. They think Kara couldn't kill but she could. She's more human than most of us. Under the right circumstances, I could see her snapping. I need to stay alert and healthy if I'm going to help save us.
The sandwich was dry. Knowing I had limited time with one free hand, I finished dinner quickly. Looking around, I took note of what I had to work with. The only tech in the room is the camera. Since the chair and table are bolted to the floor, I can't use them to reach it. Especially if they're always watching.
Xxx
Over the next week, I kept track of the days by counting meals and the time. Laying on the cot, I stared at the ceiling. Multiple times a day, the lights dim and flicker. That's either when they're making Kara solar flare or when they're recharging her with sun lamps. It's not long enough for me to do anything. Resting my arm over my eyes, I sighed. I desperately need to see Kara, I need a shower, and I want my bed. This cot is better than the concrete floor but I'm scared to know what Kara did for them to give it to me. Hearing footsteps outside my door, I sat and waited for the worst.
"Dinner." The man I nicknamed "Dick" placed my food and water bottle on the table. Looking towards the corner, he grimmised.
"If you would let me use an actual bathroom, you wouldn't have to empty my makeshift chamber pot. At least I was nice enough to pee in the bottles." Without a word, the man gathered the bottles and pot before leaving. Taking a seat, I ate quickly and kept the napkin for toilet paper. I'm lucky to be fed but, after this, I'll probably never eat another cold sandwich in my life.
Once food settled, I did my exercise routine. Push ups, sit ups, and planks. To the camera, the plank and push ups would look like regular exercises and hide the fact that I've been tinkering with the watch Kara gave me. When we make it out of here, I'll have to find a way to thank you for everything. Hopefully, this watch is also connected to your sister or boss too.
Xxx
Alex's POV
"Guys! Guys! Come here!" Winn called.
"What is it?" I looked over his shoulder at the flashing beacon. "What is that?"
"It's the tracker that's in the watch Kara gave Lena. Originally, it's only connected to Kara but, somehow, she rigged it to override Kara and come to us."
"Where's that located?"
"I don't know yet. I'm working on it." Before Winn could finish, the beacon disappeared.
"Damn it!" I growled.
"We have another problem…" His voice trailed. "A massive radiation signature was just picked up. If it's harnessed correctly, it could take out all of National City."
My stomach flipped. "And if it's harnessed incorrectly…"
"Two or three miles."
"The signature is coming from a Luthor Corporation warehouse an hour from here." Lillian's voice was unreadable. The normally prestien woman was rundown. The stress of Lena being taken hostage had taken its toll.
"Maybe that's where they're holding Kara. We need to find that beacon next time it comes online." Squeezing Winn's shoulder, I nodded. "You got this."
"They are probably being held in the same location. If they truly are using Lena's safety as bait." Slightly delirious from lack of sleep, I took the older woman by the arm and pulled her away so we could speak privately. "Unhand me!"
"Look, I know you hate aliens. But this has to lessen that hatred. At least for Kara. She's doing God knows what to keep Lena safe. That has to mean something to you."
Choosing her words carefully, Lillian spoke. "It has a fraction. Only for her though. The rest I still despise. If it came to it, I would keep Kara on Earth. Only for Lena since she cares for her. I don't understand why," the woman scoffed.
I want to punch her in the face so badly. Flexing my fist, I tried to take calming breaths. Keep calm. You're exhausted.
"Danvers," J'onn warned.
Stop reading my thoughts! Smirking at my boss, I walked away.
Xxx
Kara's POV
"Kara, you need to wake up." Lena's voice was light as she caressed my hair. "Kara, we're going to be late."
"What?" Jolting upwards, I found myself in Lena's office. "What happened?"
"You fell asleep while I was on the phone." Taking a seat beside me, she took my hands in hers. "Is everything alright?"
I looked from our hands to Lena's face. "I'm just…a little confused."
Before she could respond, there was a knock on the door. "Come in."
To my amazement, Astra entered. "Astra?" Rushing towards my aunt, I wrapped my arms around her neck. "I've missed you! How are you here? You're supposed to be dead."
"I am, Little One."
"What?" I stepped back.
"I'm here for you if you want to come with me. You're very close to death. If you want the pain to stop, come with me." She held open her arms. "I can take you to the stars."
"W-What about Lena?" I stammered.
My aunt's gaze focused behind me. "It's not her time to go. All of your sacrifices have kept her healthy and safe. I can only take you."
Turning, I met Lena's gaze. Her smile made my heart race. "What if I want to stay with her? What happens then?"
"You fight. You fight with everything you have left." Wrapping me in a strong embrace, Astra spoke softly. "Fight to get back to her. I'm proud of you, Little One."
Coming to, I felt a new strength inside me. One I had never felt before. Thank you, Astra. Feeling the sun lamp warm my muscles, I let my head hang. My shoulders hurt and I can't feel my arms since they are above me. I'm still weak but I need them to think I'm weaker. I'm not finished yet. I'm going to get out of here, save Lena, and kick some serious ass.
"You awake yet, blondie?" Todd snickered. Taking my chin in his hand, he jerked my face upwards. "We thought we lost you for a second there." Patting my cheek, he took a step away to check the chains that hung from the ceiling. "Drink this." He held a bottle filled with a green substance that smelt like something Lena would drink at spin class.
"Cold pressed veggies?" I groaned. "I need real food. I need fiber, solids, and calories. That and sunlight are how I regain my powers."
"Drink this for now. Otherwise, your girlfriend gets zapped." Grumbling, I drank the thick substance. "I'll bring you some real food later." Once it was finished, he left.
It wasn't until the sun went down that Todd came back with dinner. Mitch fastened a kryptonite collar around my throat before he handcuffed my hands in front of me. I've never been so happy to smell a burger in my whole life. Thankfully, the kryptonite training helps ease this pain. Sitting, I nearly inhaled the three bacon cheeseburgers and large Pepsi.
"Geez," Todd murmured.
"I told you I was hungry. I burn hundreds of calories an hour just standing. Constantly solar flaring and recharging takes up so much more."
"We're not finished yet so I'll bring you more food."
"Thank you." I paused, biting my cheek. "How's Lena?"
"Your girlfriend?" Todd's brow rose. "She's fine. Still snippy though. I had to slap her around a little bit to-" Lunging forward, electricity coursed through me from the handcuffs and collar. "Tsk. Tsk. I was about to let you see her. Guess not now."
"She'll lose dinner too," Mitch added. "Hope it was worth it." The men left me handcuffed and collared.
Being chained to the floor is a little better than the ceiling. I can actually walk around now. Reaching the end of my chains, I turned and thought about Todd's expression. There was actual fear in his eyes. Knowing Lena, she's said something. Something that's stuck with him. I wonder what she said.
Sitting back down, I let my head rest against my forearm. I hope they actually do give her dinner. If you've been listening in this past week, I'm sorry, Space Dad. I laughed to myself. He's probably sick of me by now. Sighing, I tried to get some rest.

Alex's POV
We finally got the break we needed to find Kara and Lena. They were at a Luthor warehouse. Lillian supplied blueprints and access codes so we could move through the building easier. Hopefully take the Cadmus 2.0 minions by surprise.
Gearing up, J'onn briefed us on the dangers we could face. If this went badly, everyone within a three mile radius could die. If it went well, maybe only a few henchmen would suffer.
Once we were close to the facility, all lights were shut off and we walked the rest of the way. I took a team to find Lena and J'onn took a team to find Kara. Because of the passcodes, my team was able to move quickly through the halls. Any men we found, I was able to electrocute before they could trigger an alarm.
Approaching the final door, I knocked three times and hoped the habit had rubbed off on the businesswoman. "What are you doing?" Lillian demanded.
Hearing two knocks back, I grinned. "Making sure your daughter doesn't attack us when we open the door." Entering the code, I waited for the green light to signal the door was unlocked. Pulling it open, I was happy to see Lena unharmed.
"You found us!" She wrapped shaky arms around my neck.
Reciprocating the hug, I laughed. "That SOS watch hack was brilliant."
"Thank you." Lena's attention fell onto Lillian. "Mother?"
"We've been working together, again," I smirked. "I'll explain everything later. The sooner I get you out of here the sooner-," Alarms and flashing lights cut me off. "Shit! Can you run and shoot?"
"Yes."
"Good." Handing Lena my extra gun, I saw Lillian smirk. "I trust her with a gun. Not you. Now follow me!" Weaving our way through the hallways, we shot anyone who got in our way.
"Sixty seconds until facility detonation," Lillian's voice sounded over the intercom.
"Seriously, Mother?" Lena kept on my heels. "You recorded the countdown sequence?"
"Fifteen seconds until facility detonation."
"Shit! Shit! Shit!" Unable to unlock the final door, Lena pushed me aside and shot the panel. We ran outside and as far from the facility as we could.
Luckily, none of us were harmed when the building exploded. "Kara!" Lena screamed as she saw the secondary green explosion erupt into the sky. Wrapping my arms around her, I kept the frantic woman from running back. "Let go of me, Alex!"
"No! There's nothing we can do now!" Geez, she's strong. "Kara sacrificed herself to make sure you were safe. I'm not letting you die now."
Once we got back to the vans, I buckled Lena into a seat. She hadn't said a word since the explosion. A cold eerie mask had taken hold of her normal features. Lillian sat beside her. "Do not let her leave this seat. I will shoot you if she does." Closing the door, I had someone stand guard on each side of the van.
Tapping my earpiece, I whispered. "J'onn? Do you read?" Nothing. "J'onn." Hearing two fast clicks, I saw a flash across the dark sky. Most wouldn't see it or they would think it was a shooting star. I knew better. J'onn made it out. Now we have to see if Kara is alive or not.
