Hi to those who give this story a chance. I've been toying around with the idea of this character and plot idea for a while now and decided I might as well post it and see how it goes. Let me know your thoughts and I hope you enjoy it. Thanks.
I do not own any part of the Magi franchise, but please do not use my original characters. Thanks.
Chapter 1
Qostrad was a relatively calm country. It wasn't big enough for more than one major port city surrounded by a few small villages. The economy was still growing, as the country was still young. Still, the people made the most of it and the were creating an economy that would soon rival far older more established countries.
Safiya couldn't help but admire the people as they bustled around the port. There were stalls opening for the day selling all sorts of goods for the workers and citizens. They pushed forward with pride and dedication.
"Lively today."
Safiya glanced to the side to find Dorian sitting at his normal place. The man was somewhere between sixty and a hundred years old. Even his children and grandchildren didn't know. His skin was heavily wrinkled and leathered, but the broadly built man could move. Safiya had been him lift boxes and crate that weighed at least as much as she did.
"You could say that," replied Safiya.
Dorian just waved her off before organizing the pottery he sold. His daughter and wife made it. Most of the pieces were plain and simple, but he had a few delicately decorated ones for sale that Safiya found beautiful.
"Get to the point already."
Safiya snorted a laugh as Dorian gave her a suspicious look. Like most people in Qostrad, he had vibrant yellow eyes and light, lavender colored hair. Safiya was the exception with purple hair dark enough to almost be black and eyes leaning more bronze than yellow.
"You came for information, little lady. Usually do."
"You think so lowly of me," she teased as Dorian glared at her. "We both know why I'm here, so don't act like I'm the only one being coy."
Safiya turned away from the man towards an unfamiliar ship that had docked a few minutes ago. The people had yet to leave the ship, but there had been rumors for a while about them.
"The Sindria Trading Company," scoffed Dorian. "I knew you were up to something."
"Says the man who I bet has info for me."
"Depends."
Safiya pulled five gold coins out of her pocket and placed them on Dorian's table. Dorian let out a whistle and hid the coins away.
"You don't even know what I have."
"But you have something."
Safiya smiled as Dorian glanced at the ship with a frown. He wasn't fond of many people, especially outsiders. Normally, he did the research just to make sure he knew what he may have to contend with. It wasn't often that he sold it, but he was fond of Safiya and her mother before her.
"They work outta Reim. Started by a Parthevian though. They work with and sell Imuchakk goods out of some shop. Built up a hearty organization. The main little shit behind it is an attention grabber. Sold a book about himself and everything."
"Was the book any good?"
"Depends."
"On what?"
"If you were curious about dungeons."
Safiya perked up a bit at that information and smiled. She'd made good decisions today, even if they resulted in a scolding.
"He's the famed dungeon capturer?"
"You say that like your impressed," mocked Dorian. "From where I stand, he isn't really that special."
"It's special. Whether you want to agree or not."
Safiya watched the ship for any signs of the mysterious people. She had yet to really get a good look at them.
"How many did they bring?"
"Three. The company head, a small Parthevian boy and a man from Imuchakk."
"Wonderful."
Safiya watched as she caught sight of blue on the ship. She figured it was most likely the Imuchakk man Dorian had mentioned. She was prepared to wander over when she caught a glimpse of vibrant purple.
"Hey-"
"Right at the border of Reim and Parthevia," he said. Safiya turned towards him as he smiled mockingly. "Far outside the rebellions influence."
"So you're telling me…"
"Just a hunch," mocked Dorian. "But most of the Northern population just absorbed into Parthevia with no knowledge or resistance being passed down. He's probably too young and even then…"
"Well, let's see what brings him here anyways."
Safiya waved to Dorian as she started to make her way towards the ship. She was excited to see what they wanted.
