Chapter 35
The name on the mailbox simply read The Scotts. Lucas was relieved to have found a place of his own so soon. It just so happened a couple was leaving town and put the home up for sale when he started looking.
It had a fenced backyard. A nice driveway. Two bedrooms two bathrooms.
The living room and kitchen were close by each other. Which worked out better than he expected. Once their items were brought in and the walls were re painted and pictures hung up. It felt like home.
To Lucas 's relief the boys never asked about their mother. Plus Lucas had no idea where she was or what she was up too and that's how he wanted to keep it.
With his lawyer 's advice having the court make a final decision was the way it had to be because Clay wasn't letting this go.
Haley. Nathan. Mouth. Skills. All wrote a character reference for Lucas. And they would be by his side in court.
Lucas decided with Clay planning to move here and town gossip saying he already bought a house. Lucas couldn't avoid talking to Sawyer anymore. About what was going on.
...
(I love it here.) Sawyer said. His mouth watering as they left the restaurant and sat down at the seating area near the water.
Parker with aunt Rachel and uncle Mouth for now.
Since school was out for the summer.
(I thought we could hang out just the two of us. I need to talk to you.)
(It's going to be confusing and upsetting too maybe but it's something you need to know.)
(This man named Clay Evans. He's a sports agent. You know what they do.)
(He's you're biological father.) Lucas said.
Sawyer 's eyes went wide. (That can't be right. You're my dad.) Sawyer replied.
(It's a long and complicated story. Full of adult details you wouldn't understand.)
(He wants to get to know you. He's moving here. He bought a house.) Lucas explained.
(I like my stuff. I like my room. I don't want things to change.)
(Momma left. Are you going to leave too? Because of me?) Sawyer asked.
Lucas felt his heart sink. (Hey. You're mom leaving had nothing to do with you or your brother. That was her choice.)
(I'm not going anywhere. Our love and bond is tied together.)
(Just because Clay wants to be around. Doesn't take anyone away.) Lucas reassured him.
Pulling him into a hug.
...
(I know what Clay is moving here for. The house. The impending custody case.)
(You're father and I are on his side.) Victoria announced.
Brooke was stunned. (Get out!) She exclaimed.
(Brooke you're being naive blinded by fantasy and teenage dreams.) Victoria added in before leaving.
