"Nat really?! Giving her your jacket in front of the media? You might as well have posted that you are lovers." Pepper shook her head.
"Well not yet.." Nat laughed earning an elbow to her side from Stephanie. "Besides, it looks better on her anyway. Come on Steph, time for training."
Stephanie groaned as the group moved to the training area. "I swear you people are going to kill me."
"If you are good there is a surprise in it for you…" Natasha purred into Stephanie's ear sending a shiver down her spine.
"Ack no my innocent eyes! We don't want to see that!" Tony blurted
"If that's too much for you maybe I need to introduce Pepper to someone who will be able to fulfill her needs." Stephanie sassed back.
"Ooh spicy Stephanie I like it." Tony snarked.
You did so well today Stephanie. We will switch it up next time and have you spar with Clint." Steve congratulated her.
"Hey Steve I wondered if you could help me with something."
"Sure Steph, anything for you." Steve immediately answered.
"Well I was wondering if you could help me learn to cook and set up a special date for Natasha. She is always going out of her way to do things for me and I just want to do something special for her. Bucky is always bragging about how well you cook."
Steph stuttered out nervously.
"I would be happy to help Steph! We will concentrate on one recipe first so that we can get you set up for this date, but I will continue to work with you after that." Steve's smile lit up the room.
"Thank you Steve!" Stephanie threw her arms around his neck.
"Hey now, partner hands off my girl." Natasha laughed.
"Don't worry Nat I am all yours." Steph spun around smacking a kiss on her lips. "Now about that surprise.."
"You can open your eyes now little fox." Nat murmured against her ear.
Stephanie gasped excitedly seeing what Nat had set up. Tanks truck sat in the park, the bed filled to bursting with bedding and pillows to watch the classic movie drive-in set up at the park. A little table sat next to it with a candle lit dinner and wine. No one had ever went through so much trouble to set up something special for her.
"Oh Nat it's perfect, but Pepper is going to kill you for this very public date. Do I even want to know what you did to bribe Tank into letting you borrow his baby for this?" Stephanie laughed, nearly jumping into Nats arms.
"Frankly my dear I don't give a damn." Natasha chuckled at Steph's reaction.
"Don't tell me we are watching gone with the wind!" Steph practically jumped up and down.
"Yes we are but first dinner." Nat lifted the cloche over Stephs plate revealing a meatball sub.
"You are too perfect for words." Stephanie moaned
Nat held Stephanie cuddled close under the blankets enjoying the even breathing of her slumber. A few people had showed up to take pictures which she allowed motioning for them to be quiet and asking that she get copies.
"Really Natasha, a super spy decides on a public date at an open park drive-in and ends up on the front page. That is a security nightmare even for me!" Pepper's exasperated voice echoed through the community floor.
"Her team and Clint were securing the location. I wasn't worried about security. Pepper, she chose me and despite the lifestyle we lead she deserves to be wooed and treated like the amazing woman she is. I would think of all people YOU would appreciate that." Nat answered back flatly.
"I know how special she is Nat and I love watching you two together! If you had told me I could have had this set up in a secure location.."
"I refuse to hide her Pepper. She has been forced into being hidden and treated badly for far too long as it is." Nat spat.
"Ok I deserved that I just worry for both of you. Please be careful I love both of you." Pepper soothed.
"I will protect her Pepper I promise."
"I believe you, but keep yourself safe too. I love you and it would absolutely finish breaking her to lose you."
Natasha looked at Pepper surprised before pulling her into her arms for a brief hug. "I love you too, and I trust you to keep our girl safe should anything ever happen."
Carlos snarled as he threw the paper down on the desk. Hell he had only bought it when Morelli had rubbed it in his face that she had not only moved on but with a real hero. What hurt the most was the utterly happy and content look on Stephanie's sleeping face. Even when asleep with him there were worry lines on her face as if her anxiety followed her into sleep.
His men in the Trenton office no longer spoke to him giving the cold shoulder unless he gave direct orders. He had decided to bring his brother on to take control of the Trenton office while he relocated to the Miami office to be closer to his daughter. It had been the original plan until he met Stephanie and kept finding excuses to stay. He realized too late what they had and she deserved the happiness she had found.
"Not to mention all the ways the black widow would find to torture me before putting my ass in the ground." he mumbled.
