Lyanna pretended to walk to her room as she left her older brother and father behind so that they could speak alone, but she stopped walking when the door closed.
She quickly walked back to the door and placed her ear near it so she could listen to what the two men had to say, she looked up and saw that Benjin had followed her lead.
The two of them smiled at one another as they felt like children spying on their parents or someone else.
"Father, do you intend to give Lyanna?" Brandon asks their father but their father stops Brandon from being able to finish his question.
"I don't intend to give anything."
"What I want, is to stop a war from happening, before it happens." her father says to her older brother with a grim voice.
A heavy silence sets in before her father starts to speak again.
"Both you and your sister have a lot to learn and I need to make sure that you learn fast, and if that means that your sister becomes the second woman to that man then so be it." her father says to her older brother.
"Lyanna is your only daughter, there is no reason for her to be anything less than the first wife of a lord or king."Brandon says to her father.
Lyanna can almost swear that she can see her father's blue eyes piercing through her brother's head.
"She is loud, brash, and thinks that just because she can say and act like she wants here, everyone else will let her do as she wants."
"Brando I'll ask you now if she wasn't your sister what are the chances that some lor wouldn't just kill her because of her mouth?"
"Let me make it easier for you, what are the chances that she wouldn't be thrown out and told to live however she wanted, who would open their homes to her then?"
"How long would it be before she was rapped and killed? or even worse used as the plaything for the guest of that lord?"
"Will you kill the lord that she was married to? under what right?"
"She was wed to him, to his house."
"Just as the woman that is wed to you would have to listen and obey you, she would need to listen and obey him."
"If she doesn't obey then it would be up to him to punish her, just as it would be up to you to punish that woman." her father says to Brandon who remains silent.
"Then that man?" Brandon tries to ask.
"Has a wife that is just like your sister, but unlike Lyanna she knows her place and has already given him a daughter." her father says to Brandon.
Neither Lyanna nor Benjin says anything, as they turn to look at one another, their mischievous smiles are now gone, they know that their father doesn't lie, but they wish that he had.
"Let's go." Benjin whispers to her as he is unwilling to listen anymore.
Lyanna can't help but feel as if the castle is darker than it usually is and the cold that is kept away by the stone walls and fires that are kept burning during the winter feels as if it managed to enter the castle more than it usually did.
She enters her room and says goodnight to her brother before sitting on the bed.
She can't help but stare at the wall and curse her father, then herself for her fate.
She knows that what her father had said was true and that there were worse fates than being a lord's second wife.
Yet she couldn't help but hate her father for planning to sell her off without telling her, if she wanted to be just another woman to some lord then she would have gone with Robert Baratheon the day that she met him.

Jaime sat across from the ex-queen and princess, he had to enter the carriage so that he didn't freeze during the night.
Both women had changed during their short time, the queen did seem to be becoming younger and the princess didn't wake up screaming.
He couldn't help but lower his head, he had just turned his back on everything that he stood for and yet he was doing everything that he stood for.
He couldn't help but ask himself if he was fulfilling his duty and throwing away his honor, or if he was keeping his honor and throwing away his duty.
Perhaps he was doing both at the same time and that was the reason that he felt so conflicted.
