CHAPTER 13: How I Saved Your Mother.

You spend the next year chasing Shanks all over the world, determined to catch him, with the same results; him flirting with you while staying just out of your reach. He never fights back, just dodges your attacks for a while before flying up into the air.

One day, you're chasing Shanks through the streets of New York when an impact caused by something massive destroys two entire city blocks. You halt mid chase and look in the direction of the carnage. You decide that whatever had caused the damage is a bigger threat than Shanks and take off in its direction.

You arrive at the scene just in time to see a horrible abomination of a monster crush the skull of a hero named Magnetizer. The monster is about 9 foot tall and extremely muscular with dark purple skin and horns emerging from all over its arms, its shins, and along its spine. It has a long bird beak, full of razor sharp teeth as a mouth and its brain is exposed.

You can hear crying and screams of pain coming from a ruined building down the street. You look and see a hero in a green and orange costume trying to save several civilians from the rubble. But you're not the only one that notices, the monster spots the hero and runs towards him at a frightening speed. Moving as quickly as you can, you manage to place yourself between them and the monster just in time. The monster swings his fist down towards the hero, but you catch the fist in your hand just before it lands. You're taken by surprise at the sheer strength of this monster. You have to strain yourself to hold the fist back. You throw your own fist in a right handed uppercut using only half of your strength and normally this would be enough to send even your strongest opponents flying. But to your surprise, it only causes the monster to stumble back a single step. The monster is quick to recover, throwing another punch at you. You dodge it before sending another punch at the creature this time using 80% of your strength. The monster goes flying back this time, not very far, but far enough to give the hero trying to save the civilians enough time to pull them out of the rubble.

"Go!" you shout over your shoulder at the hero and the civilians. The sound of a helicopter overhead can be heard and there's no doubt in your mind that it's a news copter.

The hero says to you, "We've got every speedster in the city working to evacuate citizens. do you think you can buy us some time until we can get them all to safety?"

"I'll try my best, but this beast is awfully strong. It's like fighting All Might."

The hero says, "I wish I could help you, but my quirk isn't meant for fights like this. This thing's already killed several extremely strong Power Quirk users. I'll check around at the agencies and see if they have anybody that might be able to help you defeat this thing."

"Thanks, but you really need to go now!" you say as the monster launches itself towards you and tries to crush you underneath its feet. You push the other hero out of the way before dodging. A large crater is left where it lands and where you once stood. The monster let's out a roar full of rage before rushing towards you. You brace yourself for the impact as the monster clasps its hands together over its head then swings them down towards your head. You manage to block the attack by grabbing a hold of its hands with both of yours. The force of the blow drives your feet down into the concrete while forcing you backwards, tearing up the concrete. The monster suddenly lashes out with its right leg, its foot connecting with your sternum and you can feel your ribs break at the impact. You're sent flying backwards through an entire building until you finally come to the stop when your back connects with a steel beam of an unfinished building.

You sit there gasping for breath for a few moments, but the sound of something crashing through the building that you were just sent through grabs your attention and you struggle to your feet. You manage to get to your feet just as the monster emerges from the building. It lets out another roar of rage then continues to rush towards you. You throw a punch, using your full strength this time, at its head with your right arm, but it dodges it and manages to grab your forearm with its left hand. The monster's hand is so large that it nearly takes up your entire forearm. The monster then then squeezes down on your forearm causing all the bones to break and you to scream in agony.

The monster is about to continue his assault when the sound of a helicopter flying overhead catches its attention. It looks up and spots the news helicopter. It bends his knees and then leaps into the air, sending it flying towards the helicopter. Cursing, you quickly follow suit, somehow ignoring the pain, by using the Bunny Hop that you learned from All Might many years ago. Just before the monster can reach the helicopter you intercept it in a flying tackle. As the two of you are falling back towards the ground, you hear someone in the helicopter ask, "Isn't that (H/N)?"

"I think so. Just keep rolling. We're making International news here."

You feel pain shoot through your entire body as the two of you fall through the roof of a nearby skyscraper and through multiple floors before crashing into the ground floor. The impact breaks the bones in your left leg and you scream in pain. You hear the sound of the floors above starting to crumble down on top of you. You curl up in a ball; the best that you can anyway; in an attempt to shield your body.

After the debris stops falling, about 40 seconds later everything is silent for a moment. You are positively stunned that you've managed to survive.

You take a much needed moment to catch your breath and regain your senses. You then begin to dig your way out of the rubble. It takes you several minutes to free yourself. Afterwards, you lie on the ground trying to recover your breath. You are not in a good state: your face is covered in blood from a deep laceration on your forehead, your left leg is broken and so are several of your ribs, and you're fairly certain that the bones in your right arm are shattered.

Suddenly, you hear the sound of chunks of concrete being moved not far away from you and to your disbelief the purple monster emerges from the rubble, completely unharmed. You let out a groan before trying to get to your feet. Having spotted you, the monster makes its way over to you. You've somehow succeeded in getting to your one good arm and knee before the monster reaches down and grabs you by the head. You kick out at its chest with your right leg, but it catches your leg with its free hand before crushing it, the snapping of your bones sounding like Rice Krispies when you pour milk over them. You let out a piercing scream in agonizing pain. The monster then tosses you into the air like you're a football. You crash through several buildings before landing on the roof of a smaller skyscraper. You just lay there for several moments screaming and sobbing from the amount of pain that you're in.

It takes Shanks 20 minutes before he realizes that you're not following him anymore. He figures that you probably stopped chasing him because you either discovered a more serious threat or someone had stopped you to ask for help. Both scenarios have happened before and once they're taken care of you're usually right back to chasing him.

However, this time feels different. And when he sees a skyscraper collapse, he knows that you're in serious trouble. He summons his wings from his back and flies up into the air. It takes him a little bit to get high enough into the sky so that no buildings or innocent bystander will get hurt when he takes his true form.

Shanks watches in horror as you're sent flying through the air like a football. Once he notices that your body is bruised and broken, he lets his anger take control. He summons dense thunderclouds and begins to shift into his true form.

*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

The sky above the city goes unnoticed by you as it all of a sudden darkens from the abrupt appearance of thunderclouds and lightning begins to flash threatening. You hear a loud thud on the roof near you and you know that this is the end. This is how you die...at the hands of a purple monster.

You can faintly hear the sound of someone screaming about having to fly somewhere else because of all of the lightning in the air while someone else tries to argue with them about the footage they'll be missing out on. As the monster grabs your head, you can hear the sounds of the helicopter begin to fade away into the distance. You let out a sigh of relief and think to yourself, 'At least they're safe now.' The monster lifts you up into the air before slamming the back of your head down onto the concrete of the roof. It repeats this action several times before stopping and starting to squeeze your head. You close your eyes due to the pain and accept your fate.

You hear the loud sound of booming and rolling thunder overhead, but something about it seems off. It doesn't sound like normal thunder should, instead it sounds like a roar of some gigantic and pissed off beast. All of a sudden, the monster howls in pain and drops you, causing you to fall onto the ground. Forcing your eyes open, you look to see what has happened to make the monster release you. Everything is fuzzy and your vision is edged in darkness, but you're pretty sure that the purple monster now has no forearms. As you continue to watch, what appears to be a long red and black; red scales covering the top while black scales cover the underside; tail with two rows of sharp spikes running along the top wraps itself around the purple monster. Whatever it is, seems to be coming down from inside of the thunderclouds and, as you continue to stare in shock, lightning lights up the clouds and you catch a brief glimpse of an enormous silhouette the size of the Empire State building. The purple monster is pulled up into the air away from any buildings and, as soon as it is clear, large bolts of lightning travel along the tail then envelopes the purple monstrosity. 1.3 billion volts of electricity soon destroys monster, leaving nothing but ash and two large, muscular forearms behind. As you start to lose consciousness, the tail gently wraps around you, being careful not to accidentally slice you with the end or one of its spikes. The last thing you remember before passing out is the sensation of being lifted.
