"I'm so confused, Mom," I said to my mother as I went to her home on the same day I reached LA.
"I want to be with him, but at the same time I don't want to leave everything behind and move to Gevonia. I don't think I'm ready for it," I said, "There are so many eyes on me there. I've too much to prove, and I'm not sure if I ever would be able to justify the role of the queen. I don't know what to do!"
"Do you remember I had asked you once if he was worth it, and you said he was?" she said, "I will ask you the same question today. Ask your heart. Is he still worth it?"
"It's not that simple..." I sighed, "At that time he was a part time prince, full time student. I felt like he was very similar to me. But he's a completely different person back at his home. People adore him. They look up to him. He has a lot of responsibilities. He is under too much pressure."
"I mean, we are okay right now, but once he becomes the king... I don't think our relationship is going to be the same." I sighed.
I didn't even want to think about it because I was afraid everything was going to change between us.
"So the answer is a no then?" she said.
"Mom... It's not that straightforward!" I said with frustration, "I love him."
"Take your time, and think as much as you want," she said, "You can reach out to me if you ever feel like talking to someone."
"I don't know what to do..." I said, "I love him. I really do."
"I'd like to tell you something," she said, "Your Dad and I loved each other. We really did. Love was never the question, but we couldn't make our marriage work. We realized one day that we were better off without each other, and we ended the marriage."
"And you know what?" she continued, "We were just fine after that. But that's not going to be the case for you. If you come to a similar realization after you get married to Edward, well, I'm afraid it is not going to be that easy! So take as much time as you want to take before making any big decision!"
