House of Batiatus. Capua, Roman Republic. 3 years later.
Flavius Helvetius Seuso took a deep breath as he watches the gates of the Ludus swing open. The titans of the house of Batiatus had all gathered to see the Son of Mars on his way. As Flavius approached the gates, he was accompanied by 3 others. His sister Messiena, his wife Diona, and their son Augustus. It taken 3 long years, but through countless victories in the arena of Capua, Flavius had finally saved up enough coin to purchase freedom for both his sister and his wife. Thankfully, his son had been born a free man, so Batiatus had not required coin for him. Flavius noticed that Quintus and Lucretia were notably absent, but it was of no surprise. 2 years ago, Quintus Lentulus Batiatus had finally achieved his dream of political office after being elected as the main Quaestor for the city of Capua. Working under the provincial governor of the region, Quintus was supervising the local treasury and conducting audits. As a result, Batiatus had given Oenamaus his freedom and transferred the Ludus to his command. The new Dominus was there to bid Flavius goodbye.
"Farewell Oenamaus, I know you shall be the greatest Lanista in the republic." Flavius said as the man clasped arms.
"And I know that you and your family are blessed by the gods." Oenomaus replied with a smile. Before Flavius could walk out, Ashur walked up to pay his friend good fortune. The Syrian offered his arm which the Roman gladly clasped.
"In light of my leaving, you must be the champion of Capua now." Flavius said as Ashur chuckled in reply.
"You prove tough act to follow, but all of Capua will soon learn to tremble before the mighty Ashur." He replied as the brothers in arms embraced. "Where will the son of Mars go now?"
"I do not know, but that is the best thing about being a free man: he goes where he will." Flavius replied with a smirk. Once the Seuso's made their way out of the Ludus and onto the main road. Flavius put his arms around both his women.
"So, what shall your hands do without sword?" Diona inquired as she held her baby close.
"They are yours forever to command." Flavius vowed as he kissed her forehead.
"My hands shall be well occupied with beloved nephew." Messiena replied as she gently stroked Augustus's forehead. As the family walked far from the house of Oenomaus, Flavius finally felt like his life was his own and that he could put all hardships to rest.
THE STORY OF FLAVIUS HELVETIUS SEUSO HAS REACHED IT'S END. BUT THERE WILL SOON BE ANOTHER STORY TO BE TOLD. REVIEWS NEEDED AND APPRECIATED
