"So how did we end up going on this trip?" Coordinator Ash asked, looking at the swamp in front of the two of them.
"Look I'm as confused as you are, I thought I was getting a break this time." Ark admitted. "Really wish I had Muk now though."
"This is going to be a long day." Coordinator Ash sighed, looking at the open area.
Flashback
"Alright, if this is correct, we've gotten just about all the plates that landed in the Obsidian Fieldlands." Trap Ash said. "Kamado recommended we check out the Crimson Mirelands to the east, it's a swampy area and there are a few plates there as well."
"I'm not seeing 16 points on this map." Seer Ash said.
"Yes, and I'm hoping by putting our most connected to the earth trainers out there, maybe they can pick up where these missing plates are located." Trap Ash said. "Ponytail, you grew up in Alola, right?"
"Lived there my whole life pretty much." Ark said.
"Good, then you've got their instincts, try to notice anything different going on while you're out there." Trap Ash said. "And Bowtie, you've got that whole Groudon thing going on, you go with him."
"Really, are you sure, wouldn't you going make more sense?" Coordinator Ash asked.
"I've got some things there I want to look into myself, and the less people there, the better." Trap Ash said.
Back to the present
"You don't like me do you?" Ark asked bluntly.
"I'm trying to focus." Coordinator Ash said, using the Primal Force and what Lucario taught him to sense the area.
"It's a yes or no question." Ark commented.
"No, it's not that I don't like you, but we are very different sides of what is technically the same person." Coordinator Ash said calmly.
"You are a lot more collected than the rest of us, why is that?" Ark asked.
"I lost a Pokemon that was close to me." Coordinator Ash said, opening his eyes. "That made me look into a new path, and that caused me to gain a different outlook in battle. Whereas from what I've heard about you, your fighting style is very brash and quick."
"And you're worried I'm going down that same path?" Ark asked.
"No, the situation that happened to me, two others of our group have had that same fight and made it with no problem." Coordinator Ash said. "I found where the plate is, we just need to fly to it."
"Flying, how far are we talking?" Ark asked.
"Other side of the swamp, we can probably walk most of the way, but I think it's on an island so we'll have to cross water at some point." Coordinator Ash said.
"Then let's save their energies for the battle." Ark agreed. "So what was it?"
"What was what?" Coordinator Ash asked.
"Your new path, your new passion, we all have one." Ark commented.
"Yeah, and what's yours?" Coordinator Ash asked. "And don't say it's to be the very best. It's cheesy and we all think it at first."
"Right now, my passion is in learning about who I am, for my entire life I was Ark, this kid who came from another world, and then I find out I'm actually from a small town in Kanto." Ark said. "And just as I'm getting used to being a Ketchum, I get pulled into this adventure with four versions of me who grew up with their proper family. Don't get me wrong, my adoptive family is great, a bit broken but great and I wouldn't change a thing about them, but I just never knew who I was."
"You are who you make yourself to be." Coordinator Ash said. "Anyways back to your question, my passion is now in Contests, about showing the grace and elegance of your Pokémon's moves rather than just brute force."
"And you really do that?" Ark asked.
"I have my own approach involving a more Cool style to it at times." Coordinator Ash said.
"Hmm, interesting, I've seen contest shows on tv but was never really interested in them." Ark commented.
"It's not too big of a deal, I've met others who are against the contest style, even I might not have been that interested at first if it hadn't happened." Coordinator Ash said.
"Whatever happened to you, I'm sorry for it." Ark said. "Hey up ahead, what is that?"
"I'm not sure, it looks angry." Coordinator Ash said.
"Rotom?" Ark asked.
"It looks like a Goodra, but it has a shell." Rotomdex said, scanning the Pokemon.
"Dragon, I can handle." Coordinator Ash said. "Milotic come on out!"
"Incineroar let's go!" Ark called out.
"Milotic use Attract!"
"Incineroar use Outrage!"
Milotic caught the attention of the Goodra as Incineroar slammed into the shell of the dragon, knocking them into the water.
"Milotic use Ice Beam!"
"Incineroar use Flare Blitz!"
Milotic froze the pond that Goodra was still in, locking it into place as Incineroar struck it once again, knocking it free.
"Dra!" The Goodra shouted, shooting a powerful stream of water at Incineroar snuffing out his flames.
"Incineroar!" Ark called out.
"Milotic use Dragon Breath!"
Milotic slipped around, sending out a stream of blue flames to get the attention of the Goodra as Incineroar recovered.
"Alright, enough messing around." Ark said, standing up with Incineroar. "Get me a clean shot!"
"Got it! Milotic use Ice Beam, full power!" Coordinator Ash called out.
Milotic fired a beam of ice that crept up the Goodra's body slowly.
"Now Incineroar use Devastating Drake!" Ark called out.
An orb of purple energy shot out from Incineroar's belt, slamming into the Goodra and growing more and more on impact before an implosion happened, knocking out the dragon.
"Style." Coordinator Ash said with a sigh.
"And power." Ark said with a chuckle.
"Miii." Milotic said, flicking something into the air with her tail.
"I've got it." Coordinator Ash called out, sending out an aura tendril.
"And that makes five." Ark said. "Or four, are we counting the one we brought with us?"
"Until we know if it's still the Zap Plate, no clue." Coordinator Ash said, looking at the deep purple plate in his hands.
