Chapter 13: Countdown To The End, the Time Storm Begins.

2059 Time Research Lab Gateway Room.

Sonic: You do know how to solve this, right? The time storm and this abomination that followed me home?!

Sonya was about to say something but then her mind went completely blank. For once in her life, she didn't know how to solve this.

Sonya: … Uhh… This is a little out of my field, okay? The Para Science boys would be…!

Lightbulb!

Sonya: That's it! The Parallel Science Research Lab! Best bet for all the answers. I'll head there.

Sonya was about to dash out of the gateway room when gravity shifted, and bits and pieces of the building began to suddenly vanish into different periods across time itself, then completely disappear into nothingness!

Sonya: The time storm is starting to tear everything apart!

Sonic: Ditto here! And I'm playing tag with a crazy octo monster!

Sonya turns to the exit, but then the unexpected occured: a wormhole opened!

Sonya: I don't believe it. A Transitional Einstein Rosenbridge!

Sonic: You mean a wormhole?!

Sonya: Yeah! As crazy as it sounds, I can use that to reach the Para Science lab faster!

Sonya jumps right through the wormhole, and appears near the bottom of the facility. From there, she knew exactly where she needed to go, and luckily, the vents led right to the Para Science Labs… But the time storm was going off again, this time, Sonya had to hang onto a door frame!

Sonya: Dad, watch your step! The causality is out of control!

Sonic: Was it ever IN control?!

Sonya: The point is if you breathe wrong, it will have unexpected consequences! So watch it!

Sonic: I'll try my best to watch my step while running away from the big fucking monster!

Sonya lets go of the door frame and she darts into the vent, rolling through it as fast as she could when suddenly she was stopped dead. The vent had been changed due to the Time Storm, and as such she no longer had a direct path!

Sonya: Oh you HAVE TO BE KIDDING ME!! What did I JUST tell you?!

Sonic: It's not my fault the Atrocity took out a wall with its tentacles!!

Sonya: Well be careful!!

Sonic: I'M BEING CAREFUL, YOU TELL HIM TO BE CAREFUL!!!

Sonya sighs, then she took the detour, and after about 5 minutes, she landed inside the Para Science Labs… Or what was left of them. She looks around as she sees just how the place was basically empty and abandoned. There wasn't even reserve power.

Sonya: … They HAD to have kept the backup generator…

Sonya jumps down off the center structure in the lab, and located the generator. She works her mechanic magic and gets it running again, the lights slowly turning on. Then she heard something moving on wheels, and sees a cube shaped cart.

Sonya: Huh. An old Databox server. Could have some information we might need.

She zips over to the Databox, plugging it into the northern section of the central structure.

As soon as the doors to the second wing open, Sonya stares in shock as she sees one of her worst nightmares realized: there were living test subjects down here!

These poor bastards were used to test some kind of living substance made quite literally from Nothingness, apparently taken from a meteorite that crash landed on Mobius's moon a decade ago, causing these poor bastards to look like pure white Symbiotes from Marvel, claws and all, but their mouths looked like zippers instead of the usual grotesque appearance Symbiotes had.

And much like some of you are thinking, yes, these guys were rubberband-like, much like Dusks were, and if anyone gets that reference, you win a cookie!

Sonya was already darting around the room to avoid these bastards. They weren't able to replicate and infect others by just touching, but if they bit her, it was game over. She had to get the other Databoxes up and running… She sees one being drained of energy by these Nothings, and then it detonates. They fed on pure energy, and Databoxes had a LOT due to their processing power!

Sonya: Shock…! I REALLY didn't want to do this…

Sonya inhales and exhales, then her body starts to emit blue and pink electricity. She was going all out for this, and before the Nothings could reach her, she had taken off LITERALLY at Lightspeed, dealing with the majority in one fell swoop, AND she pushed the Databox into place in the center structure!

More Nothings were crawling out of every cranny in the lab. Sonya gulps as she has to overcome her fear of these things. She had a nightmare about them when she was younger, and seeing them become a reality was going to haunt her for the rest of her life…

She got to work on getting the Databox ready, doing everything in her power to avoid getting bitten by the Nothings.

Sonic: What's going on there? Caught a break from the Atrocity!

Sonya: I have a theory, but I need to get the Databoxes hooked up!

Sonic: I have no idea what your talking about, but okay.

Sonya: Basically if I get them all uploaded, then we can figure out what's going on.

Sonic: It'll be a nice change of pace! Sure beats dying again!

Sonya: True. I'll let you know when the Databoxes are uploaded!

Sonya zips around, dealing with huge crowds of Nothings, and then she kicked the Databox into place.

Building AI: Cybernetics Data ready for upload. Opening Symbiotic wing.

Sonya: Aaaaaaand Marvel's gonna sue us.

Sonic: Hey, leave the 4th Degree Interdimensional Warp Fuckery to me, missy!

Sonya: … What in the cinnamon toast shock did you just say.

Sonic: I– Did… Did you just say "shock"???

Sonya: I've been saying that for a while, and you only NOW noticed?!

Sonic: No, I did, but… Why not just say "fuck"?

Sonya: … If you can believe it, in my time period, there's a company guideline that says cursing isn't against the rules, but it is frowned on.

Sonic: … Oooohhhhhhh. THAT makes a bit more sense.

Sonya: Plus, I mean… "shock and awe" kind of thing. You know?

Sonic: Fair, but… I doubt anyone is around to actually care.

Sonya: Point. Getting the last Databox in place!

Sonya wasted zero time, using a Accelerated Decoy Lightspeed Attack to deal with the rest of the Nothings in the room, and upon doing so, she pushed the last Databox into place.

Building AI: Symbiotic data ready for upload. Beginning data upload procedure… Complete. All data fully uploaded.

Sonya jumps into the center structure and begins typing away at the computer within.

Sonya: Okay. Dad? I think that Atrocity is connected to the time storm somehow. What I need is a sample of its DNA to complete the analysis.

Sonic: HOW?! It's on THIS end!

Sonya: Grab a DNA recorder and acquire a sample. Once you download the sample into a computer there, it will show up here.

Sonic: Wait, if it isn't already there, then doesn't that mean I failed?

Sonya: *Sighs* Look, you wanna spend two hours we potentially don't have learning about the laws of Quantum Dynamics? No? Then trust me. It won't show up here, unless you download it there!

Sonic: *Sighs in frustration* Aside from Little Planet, no lie? Time travel makes my head hurt…
