At a house on Melemele Island, that is on a bridge near the shore. Tammy and a Castform were ready to entertain Daphne and Leon, Lillie was about to take a nap on the couch with a Clefairy, Comfey and Phione as Elio entered the living room with good news. "Dinner will be ready soon. It's a Crabrawler meat pizza."
He, Stormy and an old Incineroar looked to be ready for a stunt. Tammy swallowed at all the people watching. "Wow, this is a lot. Lā, are we ready?" The Castform nodded as Elio sat on a chain with Stormy and the old Incineroar curled up next to him, the patriarch smiled at his adopted daughter as Lillie looked to be drifting in peace. "Since we got nothing better to do, I'm going to bring up a rerun of a Pokestar Film... that we probably missed. If you know what is going to happen, don't spoil us."
Tammy promised she won't and flashed her Z Powered Ring. "I won't, this is going to be the appetizer anyways!" She crossed her arms and posed like a rising flame. " Lā, with the light of Alola, shine a Z Sunny Day!" Radiant energy flowed into the Castform as he shined like sun light, taking on a more sunny form that caught the attention of the children, Lā was dancing in a fast rhythm and Tammy nodded her head in a beat, she focused on the substitute doll and ordered. "Lā, dance with icy wind and combine a weather ball with solar beam!" She winked, spun and posed with her left hand facing towards her long hair. "Shine the light of Alola, oh spirit of the summer breeze!" The Castform got it and danced to let loose a light, beautiful chill, he shot an orb in the air and watched it glow like fire as he charged and fed solar light into the orb. A beam erupted in light and fire, scorching the substitute doll and leaving marks that the Phione sprayed a bubble beam to douse.
Daphne clapped and cheered as Leon kept quiet and asked. "Sister, how...how did... you... do that?" Tammy winked and blushed charmed at what her sibling thought of her. "Good question, sunny day is good for a lot of moves along with giving Lā a new form to work with. The Z power also makes her moves faster to use and more powerful... except for icy wind... that's a flavor move."
Daphne blabbered out. "Sister made boom!" Tammy was more captivated and agreed. "I did, the sun is good for some gras moves and fire moves." The Castform cooled down and eventually reverted back to his basic form as a call came. The girl went to get it and left Elio to switch to a coming movie. Tammy answered the video phone and saw an image she longed for, Pamela. She smiled widely and gave the Alolan greeting as Pamela done the same, both said in unison. "Alola!"
They blew each other a kiss and enjoyed the pleasant surprise, the coordinator of Alola asked as she fondled a lock of her hair. "So what is the occasion?" Pamela answered with a deep blush. "I just wanted to call since I was told you are on vacation in Alola. Guess who is finally a trainer?" Tammy asked who as smoke puffed up. The sudden shock caught her by surprise and she tapped on the screen. The smoke cleared and Pipi appeared with her Mareanie, both in a pose. Tammy's mouth was wide. "Oh! That explains that. Pipi, how are you doing?"
The ninja tried to answer as a Crobat flew behind her, answering part of the question, Pipi looked proud of herself. "I gathered five badges and have a full team of six. By tomorrow I should be pursuing Mahogany Town, then Blackthorn City."
Elio heard the names and took interest as Tammy assured him she had it taken cared of. "Five?! Are you saving Olivine for last or..." Pamela cringed as Pipi remembered disappointment. "I...I'm not ready for that yet." Tammy blinked and cringed. "Eek! Sorry for bringing that up. I...I know Mahogany Town's gym is nothing but ice type. So it should be quick if you got a good fighting, rock or fire type move handy. Steel would also do if you got a pokemon with that move." She thought of something and asked. "Pipi, are you considering anything special in Blackthorn City? It's pretty important for one of your pokemon."
The girl nodded as a certain boy Tammy was familiar with stepped in to answer, Alex. He answered with a expression of serious battles. "And there is something that might be going on. This could be an opportunity for improvement."
Tammy agreed and took out her Rotom Dex to show the image of Naganadel. "Yeah, this sweet beast." She nearly laughed as Elio over heard and joined in. "Ifthey would allow it. Some people consider Ultra Beasts to be more of a threat than a pokemon, but it's only those who know of their existence, rather than who they are. Pipi, if you find who ever can help Sutikki... have them call me. Kay?" Pipi promised she would and Elio gave her a thumbs up as he went back to his children and wife. The ninja asked Tammy. "I also made a new friend during my travels that I want you to meet." The coordinator of Alola didn't mind. "Then tell her to not be a stranger! Any friend of you is a friend of mine."
Pipi showed her teeth as Yang approached the screen, looking content and refined. She looked like she was hiding nervousness and Tammy waved hello with her Castform. "Heya, names Tammy... I knew Pipi would make friends fast." Yang agreed and introduced herself. "I'm Yang... a psychic type specialist and a psychic. Although its... hard to sense anything from a screen."
Tammy was astonished and asked. "I get a psychic type specialist... but really?" Yang's eyes glowed and she hovered a poke ball with just her mind, Tammy felt a point was taken. "Wow! A poison type ninja and a psychic... that can compliment each other well." Yang agreed and guessed. "And just by your reputation, you are... pretty well known on Alola and certain parts of Hoenn. What's it like on Alola?"
Tammy wondered herself. "Its a cozy region close to home that has a lot of traditions... both similar to and not unlike anything you seen before. Hey Pipi... did you show Yang what you got from the region?" The Ninja gasped and reached for her bag. "I haven't, but I shou-" She found it and pulled out a purple crystal with a skull and cross bones. "There it is. A Z crystal I stole from that big Muk."
Yang gasped in shock. "Trials are like that?!" Tammy nodded and giggled. "Yep! You got to do something of an obstacle and beat the Totem Pokemon to get it... or find the pedestal that has them. Totem Pokemon are normally the ones holding them these days. Getting one of these, however." She showed her Z Powered Ring off. "Is a different story. This is sort of a good thing for me since Z moves are crazy strong... but it would be a good excuse to visit Alola if you got the time."
Pipi and Yang agreed to that as Pamela asked. "Speaking of Alola... how have Daphne an Leon been treating you?" Tammy focused her eyes to her side and turned around to find two resting one year olds resting with their mother, she faced her friends and answered. "Fine, Mom and Dad do most of the work, though I am good at entertaining Daphne and Leon. They called me sister."
Pamela, Alex and Pipi gasped as Yang's eyes sparkled with joy. "That's wonderful to hear! How has that happened? Was it because... because-" Her confusion stopped a psychic outburst and Tammy answered. "It's a long story I don't want to talk about. Any of my friends will tell you." She looked interested and felt she ran out of things to talk about. "Hey Yang... can I have your phone number? It's... kind of interesting with what is going on with you. Maybe I can help out if its needed... what ever it is."
The psychic began writing something down and answered yes. "Of course, this would help me communicate with someone... like a normal person would. It's perfect." Tammy looked confused at that. "No one is forcing you to be normal... be what you want to be." Yang dismissed that concern. "No... it's more complicated than that. Thank you." Tammy didn't find it a problem as Pamela heard a movie starting, Yang showed Tammy the number and the coordinator written it down as the silver maiden wished to say her goodbyes. "It looks like we been holding you long enough. Tell the professor and the champion we said hi." Tammy finished writing the number and nodded. "I will, thank you for calling by." She blew a kiss to her and smiled. "I love you all!" Pamela nodded and winked. "We love you too. Take care."
The girls disconnected and Tammy joined the family in watching a plane chase. She recorded the number on her Rotom Dex as Lillie stirred and asked. "...Do you know why Yang wanted that?" Tammy shook her head. "Not really, probably issues she wants to share along with me and maybe we can figure out about each other. Pipi is pretty good at making friends." She watched Wendy chasing Rachael and was drawn in. "I actually missed this the other day." Lillie listened and looked on at the movie. "Just so you know, if there is any issues you find difficult to talk about, you ask us. Okay?" Tammy agreed and relaxed. "Sure, some there are things you and Dad know about that I'm better off not knowing. Things can get... out there, especially with my other job." The family came to an agreement and enjoyed their time together.
The next day, in Goldenrod City.
Copper was at the side walk, ordering her Stufful as her mellow Meowth licked himself. "Muscle, use brutal swing on that dummy!" The Stufful flailed and swung all around him, knocking the substitute doll back as the girl ordered her Meowth. "Panths, use feint attack! We got to be in our A game if we want to take down Morty!" The Meowth yawned, casually walked up to the substitute doll and sucker punched it. Copper nodded at the progress as her sleeping Jigglypuff and observant Fearow caught her attention. The city girl asked her bird. "Talon, we got to give it every trick we got and this can work... for now. At least until I get things worked out for Gormeh, we need everything dark type to get through." The Jigglypuff wiggled her ears and opened her eyes to see a figure of shadows behind her trainer.
"Puff?!"
Copper listened and turned around, seeing Pipi ready to say hello, the city girl yelped and backed away. "Wha...Pipi, don't do that." The ninja winked and saw the Fearow taking defense as she greeted them all. "Heya, we came back to Goldenrod for a quick stop at the game corner. What you doing?" Copper sighed and answered. "Kind of the same thing, Barūn needs some new moves and the slots are out of order today. So now we are stuck with the Voltorb flip. Some card game." Yang followed behind and was panting, Copper gave the psychic a bottle of water and guessed. "Pipi... is up against a wall at north or is getting ready for Pryce? Pa told me about that man's Piloswine being tough as nails!" Yang guzzled the water and looked at the city girl, impressed by her foresight. "*Gulp* You were very close."
Pipi nodded and looked behind her in memories. "I'm going to try battling Jasmine again when I'm ready. Thank you for telling me about Pryce's pokemon." Swoop! A cheerful Crobat pounced at Pipi and the ninja dodged, she countered with an embrace and Copper whistled. "Wow Kumo gotten big!" Pipi and the Crobat agreed as Yang saw a flashing building south of the train station. She felt the feelings of endless greed and dropped a sweat as she hesitantly asked. "You both have something to seek in the Game Corner and depending on your luck, this could take all day." Pipi agreed as Copper called her pokemon back and lead the way. "And this isn't getting us anywhere. Come on!" Pipi had her ball ready and called a tired out Crobat back. "Go rest up while we handle this. Yang, do you want to come?" The psychic shook her head and focused on the train station. "I... might make a gamble of my own, but not there. The kind of thoughts that come from places like that are annoying." The younger girls felt they understood as Copper asked. "If you are going to try and meet your Ma, the station is right there for a quick there and back."
Yang smiled to the thought and agreed. "I... should at least try. Good luck and... know when to stop." The psychic left for the Magnet train and the girls went to the Gamecorner. Where they found a repair group at the slots and tables with a glow, one particular looked like a series of cards were scattered through out, a dealer by an untaken table noticed the two and asked. "Do you want to play voltorb flip?" Pipi nodded and sat on a chair in the other side. "How do you play this?" The man answered and pointed to markers at the right side of the table and to the bottom. "The objective of the game is to flip as many cards as you can without flipping a Voltorb that would self destruct and cost you all your winnings. The markers show which lane has a Voltorb and the number show how many points and Voltorbs are in each." Pipi saw a round, poke ball like creature used as a marker and put together the rest. "And this is... free?!" The man nodded and sighed. "Until the slot machines are repaired. Show me how you play and fill my heart with excitement!"
The table shined and Pipi looked to observed the lanes marked with a 06 and a 1 voltorb towards the horizontal lane and a 04 and a 0 voltorb down vertically. She pressed the top lane and saw a one. Then followed down to find a 2 point card. She continued and went through a couple ones and a two, she sweated as Copper asked. "This game can be pretty stressful even if you are careful with the cards. Here is a tip, go after the ones with the lowest risks first and the ones with better rewards. If you think you are in a corner... know when to stop." Pipi swallowed and picked the lane bellow the top one, the one with an 08 and 2 Voltorb and the lane next to the left most that had a 03 and 1 Voltorb." She flipped a card and saw a Voltorb. BOOM! Her game was over, Pipi pouted and folded her arms, Copper sat next to her and had her turn. "Here, let me show ya."
At the Magnet Train Station.
Yang swallowed and showed her ticket, she got on the train. She awaited, closed her eyes and thought to herself. "Just be calm and say hello to mother. That is all you need to do. Just an experiment to let her know you are trying."
In a few minutes, the train moved. It slowly moved and picked up speed, Yang looked out the window and nearly drifted in thought as she saw how fast the train was going. In mere seconds, Yang saw a brief blue of the ocean, the mountainous border between Johto and Kanto, the train slowed down towards a tunnel and made a stop. The psychic felt it was time to leave and exit the train. She walked out of the station and saw the Saffron Gym, she saw a familiar woman with black hair, a pink top, white jeans and bracers, she refused something from a teenager with spikey red hair, red eyes and simple green clothes. Her squinting eyes looked most annoyed. "You already have a way into Johto and I am not giving you my train ticket. You can wait two more days Lewis."
The teenager cringed and folded his arms like that of a brat. "But if I show up to Blackforn late, my cousin will hold this over me! I heard you were one of the few people here that had a ticket and that it wouldn't hurt to ask."
Sabrina spun her finger and pointed south, like she was shooing him. "That contest was more important for you, so now you deal with the conse-" She noticed something and her eyes directed west as Lewis slowly admitted defeat. "Fine." He walked away and left Sabrina for a more heart felt encounter. Yang watched and was suppressing something as she watched her mother skip a heart beat, the daughter slowly approached and said hello. "...Mother, it's... been a long time since... I been here."
The psychic gym leader felt someone bottling her emotions and looked regretful. "It's... been twelve years." She looked pale and saw Yang's legs struggling, a bursting joy tore from within her soul and she tried to make a step, her legs were frozen from something, Yang fell from the weight and was struggling to breath. Sabrina forced herself to move and try to help her up. "Y...Yang, this isn't working."
She reached for her daughters hand and felt the pulsing pain, with a strong tug, Yang was back on her feet. She looked light headed and a faint glow was seen in her mother. "...Why cant we just be normal?"
Sabrina looked uncertain and looked like she couldn't take much more, she gave her daughter an embrace she wanted to give for a long time. The city's lights flickered, traffic lights went out and the surrounding bushes rustled before the psychic power, Yang gave in and embraced back, causing surrounding debris to fly wildly from her own, love fueled power power. The city was turning to chaos, the psychic duo heard it all and forced themselves to break apart, the mother and daughter felt each others frustrations and calmed their minds into a zen like state. Sabrina took a deep breath and answered. "Because our power is that dangerous and it is why we keep ourselves under control. Hmm-" She thought of the ordeal and Yang felt an idea coming. "What...what if we try this... somewhere less? At least somewhere that... won't be put into such danger?" The psychic mother listened and nodded in agreement. "...Anywhere that isn't like here. That... will be your plan while you are traveling?"
Yang nodded back. "There has to be a place like it somewhere. Hmm... maybe if I can find it... what of you?" Sabrina sighed. "If I can, you know I have to do my duties as a Gym Leader." Yang wished to pout and folded her arms like a typical teenage girl. "Come on mother. This was already hard." The mother asked with a warning. "Or you wish to switch places? I doubt the friend you are with would tolerate THAT!" The daughter hummed and agreed. "No she would not! I'll keep looking in Johto for a suitable place and I'll let you know." Sabrina felt it was fair enough. "Very well... you should get out of here before the authorities arrive. We caused quite a stir." Yang said her goodbyes and turned around back to the Magnet Train. "I will mother. Good luck."
At Goldenrod's Game Corner.
Copper jingled her case of coins as Pipi observed her table and picked the last card she needed to win a high stake came. Press! It showed a three, Mr. Game clapped amused. "And another won the jack pot!" Pipi opened her coin case and watched the many coins get placed in. She smiled as she and Copper went to a prize shelf with a variety of T.M's. Pipi spoke thankful. "If it wasn't for you, I would have never figured that out. This took nearly an hour" Copper agreed and saw a red T.M disk catch her eye. "It took me longer just to learn that and get Muscle."
The a blue haired prize vendor saw the coins and asked with a smile. "What are you two looking for?" Pipi placed her coins and asked. "One T.M for Flamethrower please!" The vendor was on it as Copper had her coin case ready. "What she said!" In a few moments, the two obtained the T.M for flamethrower and congratulated each other. "Good choice of move!"
Copper blushed as she thanked the vendor and lead out. "Aw! It's nothing too special, normal types can learn all kinds of moves!" Pipi gave her thanks and thought of one reason to out do her rival... in reasons. "My Nidoqueen can learn a lot of moves too and when Sutikki becomes this-" She took out a dex to show a Naganadel. "He is going to breath fire as well!"
Copper imagined such a beast doing that and stepped out of the game corner. Where a frustrated Yang was arriving from her trip. "We really need to battle each other one day, it sounds like we got similar goals." Pipi thought of it, both do want to travel the region and battle their mother, both want to show what the type they specialize in could do in battle and both are forming a variety of teams, the ninja asked. "Do you want to come along with us?" Copper blushed and refused the offer. "I do, but I need to travel on my own. Unless I run into Indigo and Cyan, I like traveling with just my pokemon... but I can tag along until you reach Ecruteak." Pipi blushed back. "That's okay, hey Yang... how did your trip go?" Yang's lips pressed together and she answered harshly. "Badly, but I know what I need to do now. At least so me and my mother don't level a whole city. You plan to teach Kuīnpin flamethrower as soon as we can and then we head to Mahogany Town. Did anything else happened?" Pipi knew who Yang was talking about and shook her head. "No... Yo-kai didn't show up. Do... you think he is planning something at the town?" Copper answered back with a raised eyebrow. "What is that ghost going to try this time?"
At an old store near Mahogany Town.
Yo-kai had a dozen manjū ready as an Exeggecute, Venomoth an even a Natu agreed to a job, they went down bellow with their treat and he snickered proudly. "This is my best plan yet!" Sōsaresu emerged from the ground and laughed a laughter fitting for a Mismagius. "This ought to test Pipi's skills while we get a good laugh. So Yo-kai, do you think I should do the dirty work this time?"
The Gengar allowed it and looked pleased. "Remember, one of Pipi's friends is a psychic and we know WHO she is, we got to make sure she doesn't suspect anything and plays along once she does figure it out. She gives me the creeps." The Mismagius chuckled loudly. "She ought to be fun to mess around! Like... some kind of party!" She floated through a wall and left the Gengar to sink into the shadows, he needed to make sure the party is one most memorable.
