Golden eyes stared back at Isis. The golden man soon broke contact as waves of blurry beings threw themselves at him, only to be easily killed. Was this man a god? He didn't look Egyptian, but he could pass for a Greek if you squint your eyes. The girl with the missing arm pressed onward, even with her ragged and torn clothing.

Isis' eyes widened even more. This was a memory? What was this? How could Khepri have seen this? So much death and destruction, and at such a young age as well. What could Isis do? She could simply block off the memory, leaving it broken or buried within Khepri's mind, or she could press onward.

Should Khepri ever find out that Isis sealed off some of her memories, how would the young goddess react? Khepri was young, but she obioisly wasn't stupid. Isis narrowed her eyed and pressed onward. These were not her memories to mess around with. What if something happened to Khepri?

Isis channeled more of her power into the mirror, the cracks slowly healing as the memory turned clearer. A shriek caused Isis to pause briefly. Glancing over her shoulder, Tutu summoned another khopesh and held his blades defensively.

"Uh, I don't mean to rush you Lady Isis, but the nightmares are drawing closer." That meant more pain for Khepri.

"I'll finish up here for now. We shall need to return to continue the healing." Isis turned her attention back to the mirror. She was almost done with the current mirror. Rushing the healing in one session would only extend the pain for the young goddess.

The scream grew louder, when a glowing white light drew closer. Looking over her shoulder again, Isis saw a monster. During Isis' long life, she has seen many monsters, especially since she lived in the Land of the Dead. Griffons, the Serpopard, the various types of sphynx, even Apophis were just some of the many monsters that Isis had personally seen.

The creature that approached them looked nothing like them. Humanoid in appearance, the nightmare was large, at about fifteen feet in terms of height, yet it was extremely thin. With long white hair that framed her unnatural appearance, the nightmare wrapped itself with three large wings, with more placed randomly on its body allowing it to fly. Despite its appearance, its eyes were what caught Isis' attention.

They were glowing silver, but they seemed empty, dull, and cold. Its mouth snarled, blood slowly dripping from the corners of its mouth.

It screamed again, causing the mirrors in front of Isis to shake, as well as the ground below her.

"We need to go now! Khepri won't be able to last much longer!" Isis ordered as she finished the mirror. Tutu was about to lunge towards the Nightmare, but paused.

"Very well." He turned back to the advancing Nightmare. "I shall return for you."

The area around them turned into a blinding white light, and Isis woke up.

Isis' eyes were almost blinded by the light, when she found herself staring at Bes' face eye to eye, as he held Khepri's body down with his weight. Isis looked around the room. Sekhmet was also holding onto Khepri, holding her in place. Isis' eyes softened as she released her hold on the sleeping goddess.

"Report." Isis said, as Bes and Sekhmet relaxed. Tutu helped Bes off of the bed.

"She started shaking and screaming in her sleep after I was done. We had to hold her down before she hurt herself." Sekhmet said, crossing her arms, all while glaring at Isis. Her eyes softened not even a second later. "How bad was it?"

"There was more damage than I expected. It's going to take several sessions before her memories can be restored." Isis pushed some hair out of Khepri's closed eyes and smiled. "She's strong, but I didn't want to risk her mind taking any more damage than it should."

"Bes, Tutu, can you keep an eye on her while she sleeps? She needs the rest."

Tutu gave her a salute while Bes nodded.

"You can count on us, you old hag." Bes gave her a thumbs up and a large grin. Isis ignored him and turned to Tutu.

"Make sure she has a good night's rest. Take her to the quarters Amun-Ra had prepared." Isis gave Sekhmet a glance. "Come with me."

Isis stormed out of the room without another word. She had plenty of questions, but she doubted that many would be answered. Walking into the side room where Amun-Ra waited with Set, Isis stomped towards the King of the Living.

"Is she ok?" Amun-Ra shot up from the couch he was lounging on. Set looked up from his phone, only to scoot several feet away when he caught sight of Sekhmet.

"There was more damage than I had anticipated. Continuing now when she's weak is a risk that I didn't want to take." Isis flopped onto a recliner. "The girl has seen things that no one her age normally would."

Who was the golden man?

Amun-Ra nodded slowly and turned to Set. "Arrange for Khepri's stay here. Contact Tayt to make some clothing for her."

Set stopped glaring at Sekhmet who kept taking pictures of him. "You're taking her in?"

"Duhhh. She's a goddess, of what I'm not exactly sure, but she's one of us. Khepri can stay here for as long as she wants! Besides, I'm placing you in charge of her."

Sekhmet interrupted whatever Set was about to say.

"I know what type of goddess she is!"

"What?" Amun-Ra, Set and Isis stared at the lion goddess.

"Well spit it out! The suspense is killing me." Amun-Ra narrowed his eyes. That caused Sekhmet to pause briefly, he was her king after all.

"I noticed it while healing her injuries. Despite being malnourished and dehydrated, there was no way for her to be healing at the rate she was. Even regular gods and goddesses take a while to heal, and some scars don't ever fade." Sekhmet started. Isis' own eyes widened as well.

"Khepri is the goddess of the Morning Sun."

The Morning Sun meant the renewal of life, creation itself. This was serious, if word got out before Khepri was ready the tabloids would eat her alive-

Amun-Ra was already on the phone calling someone. Isis jumped, ready to snatch the phone out of his hands, when he avoided her by taking a step to the side.

"Ma? Guess what, I'm going to be a Dad!"

Oh no-

Time to go back towards the present next chapter. Still thinking about the ships, but that shouldn't matter for a while I got time.

How was everyone's day? Do you have any suggestions? Perhaps a god/goddess you want to see?
