~ Three Months Later ~

"How about this one?" Hiro pointed to the screen.

The digital face showed a virtual mock-up and overview of a multi-room house listing. It was a cozy place from what Gogo could see. And it appeared to have plenty of space for themselves and the baby. The only worry she had was the price.

"Do we have enough for it?" She questioned, sat in her lover's chair, stomach beginning to round and show. All the while, he stood next to her, like a knight protecting the princess.

And his face, beaming and excited, faltered.

"W-well, not straight out," he stammered, "but I was planning to call in a few favors. I'm sure Wasabi and Fred would help too."

"And what about Honey?"

His lips came together in a straight, emotionless expression. She, Hiro, and Gogo hadn't spoken for months. Two months, actually. Not since she had met up with them, pleading they think about what they were doing. To truly think about it and consider the consequences. They are young-well, at least Hiro is-and a child is a heavy responsibility. No amount of begging and pleading could change their minds though.

"I don't know. Honey Lemon's been off doing her own stuff and doesn't even come for hero work. She's been off on her own," he replied.

Gogo wanted to curl up, knees to her chest and hide. This was her fault. Honey Lemon was her friend and in selfish desire, she'd pushed her away. In her silence, Hiro wrapped his arms around her. He pulled her into an embrace, knowing she wanted to hide. Yet he wouldn't let her.

"Wasabi and Fred should be enough," Hiro whispered, an attempt to soothe her.

And then Gogo pulled away from his arms. She looked at him, a mix of shock, anger, and disbelief.

"She's still our friend Hiro! She may not agree with us but she is still our friend!"

"I-I didn't mean it like that, Gogo!"

"Then how did you mean it?" She glared at him, eyes sharp.

"I just meant that the help from Wasabi and Fred should be enough to cover-" He scrambled for response, knowing it was true but nervous and put on the spot.

"Should be. It should be enough, Hiro. But that isn't a guarantee that it is. The more help we have, the better our chances."

"I know. I know."

"We need to talk to her again. I don't want our child to be the reason I lose the people I care about. I want-" Gogo suddenly stopped talking. Eyes wide, a smile grew, spreading from ear to ear. "Hiro!" She exclaimed.

"W-what?! Is something wrong?!" He didn't like this. One moment she was yelling at him. But now she was excited. Gleaming.

"No, genius. The baby just moved."

A second passed. He stared blankly at her. Then realization struck.

"That's a good thing, right? Should I get Baymax?"

"There's no need for Baymax. Seriously, we don't need him."

"So it is a good thing?" For all his knowledge, pregnancies were not part of it.

"It's a great thing, Hiro!" She beamed.

Hiro released a held breath. His shoulders slumped as the tension dissipated from his body.

Gogo continued, "I'll need to call Dr. Santiago and schedule an appointment."

"What for? Baymax is perfectly capable of-"

"Hiro, please. I know. I love Baymax too, but….I want to see an actual doctor about this."

"Tadashi programmed him with thousands of medical procedures and knowledge. He can do it. I promise. You just gotta let him try."

Gogo took a deep breath. "I'm sorry, Hiro."

At her words, his legs felt weak. The world seemed to shrink around him, coming to crush him. He stepped back and sat on the edge of the bed. Thump thump….Thump thump….Thump thump. If Gogo was speaking, he couldn't hear the words. The sound of his heart deafened him. His chest tightened and his throat clenched. The moisture in his mouth dried. Still, he had to say something. Get her to see reason.

"He can do it, Gogo. He was made to." Hiro glanced over his shoulder. Tadashi's half of the room was small. Shrunken. Many of the books that sat upon dust-ridden shelves were donated. Memorabilia, the same fate. But the bed remained. As did the dresser and a few shelves of the things that hurt the most to even touch. Now, in the space that opened, was equipment for an oncoming child.

Hiro hadn't been the one to clean or enter the space. He couldn't. It was Aunt Cass and Gogo who did. He'd see them moving the remnants of a life and they always looked unphased. Jaws clenched and emotionless. As if it were just a tedious chore to do so.

"I know, Hiro." Another dismissal.

And the fires of rage spurred within him. Sparking from ember to inferno in an instant. "No you don't!" He shot up from his spot on the bed. Tears sting his eyes as his knuckles strain, ghost white.

Gogo was shocked. Where had this come from? One moment he was nervous and planning their future together the next he was filled with a fury she had only seen once before. Yokai. Callaghan. And then it hit her. She glanced around and understood.

"Hiro, I…" She reached out to him. But the gap between them was the span of the seas. Her on one side. On the other, him.

"Baymax, he's…more than just a robot! He was made to help!" The tears burned his eyes and his throat choked on the words.

Gogo bit her lip. What could she say that would make this better? That she hadn't said already? So she didn't say anything. Rather, she decided on action. To show him what he already knew. She rose slowly-being careful with her actions now that she was several months pregnant-and she walked over to Hiro as he swiped away the tears. And she embraced him.

He shattered at the touch. Her arms draped around him, pulling him close. And he couldn't stop the tears.

"Shh…" Gogo soothed, hands raking through his hair. Even with all his vast and incredible intelligence, he was still young. And sometimes Gogo forgot that. In the moment of wordlessness, soft sobs echoing into her chest, she began to question. Perhaps Honey Lemon was right. Maybe she had been hasty in getting pregnant. Perhaps choosing Hiro was a terrible mistake.

No.

The love she held for the young boy in her arms, as well as the child they created together, was true. Sure, her actions had been quick paced. Thoughtless and reckless. But that hadn't mattered then and it didn't matter now. What mattered was showing that she wasn't with Hiro simply for sex. That her actions were to progress their relationship and show everyone that she was going to be the best wife she could be. Even if that part wasn't guaranteed to happen for another four years or so.

And so she just held Hiro. Let him cry and whisper into her, relinquishing the sorrow he still retained. Something he'd never truly get over. But something he'd build himself from. Something she'd have to do as well, rather than hide and run away as she always did.

"S-sorry." He pulled away from the embrace, eyes puffed and red. "I shouldn't have been upset about Baymax. I just-"

"Shh. It's okay, Hiro. Life isn't easy and bad things happen. We just gotta try to hold on to what we can. That's what you're doing and I should've realized." Gogo let her hands cup his cheeks. And chocolate eyes met ones of copper. Neither said a word, both feeling apologetic about their actions. Though the silence didn't go without action. And Gogo pulled Hiro into another hug as they stood.

"I miss him too. I'm sorry we had to get rid of some of his stuff," she whispered. "It wasn't easy, y'know, taking out his stuff. Cass and I cried more than we than we had tears. But we had to move forward, continue walking. Otherwise we'd get trapped in the past and lose ourselves to our misery."

A moment. Then the arms around her body tightened slightly before Hiro spoke. "Thanks, Gogo."

"I love you, knucklehead."

"I know."

Another moment. And Gogo chuckles softly and pulls back from him. "You're supposed to say it back, Genius."

"I love you?" His tone was far too questioning and she cocked her eyebrow, hands on hips.

"I-I mean, I love you, Gogo," he stammers.

"Much better." She turned back to the chair in front of the computer screen. And with a quiet grunt, she carefully began to lower herself down into it. "We really should figure out where we're gonna live soon."

For the rest of the evening, the pair danced around what they had set out to do. And as night settled, sky darkening with the subtlety of the pale moonlight, they found their way to bed. Within mere moments, the cuddling lovers drifted off to Morpheus's realm, preparing to face another day ahead.
