(A/N: Howdy, folks! Since the review that I got for last chapter was anonymous; I will respond here. *hehem* Dear Secretive S, Don't worry about offending me with questions, but have trust in me that they will all be answered in time. That review made like, my entire week. Your curiosity means that I pulled off the chapter exactly as planned. Faithfully your servant, Krazy Kooky Mysterious and Spooky K….PS. Who says that Sam doesn't want that 'it' misconstrued? Also, love is messy and imperfect. Like life. *smirk* Now onto other stuff: I own nothing, love all of your support, and on with the chapter!)
Chapter 9: Flicker, Fade
They quickly stopped by Sam's apartment to drop off Haruhi and for Sam to swiftly prepare herself for the meeting with the infamous Yoshio Ootori.
Her plan was flawless.
/Kyoya POV/
In less than fifteen minutes, Sam was back and tapping on his window.
He gaped.
She looked every bit of the part of a rebellious heiress of a large corporation.
Her hair was all its natural blonde color and done up in a sleek yet fashionable ponytail. She was wearing a white, ruffled dress-blouse tucked into a high-waisted black pencil skirt that fit her like a glove, and she was wearing blood-red pumps. What captivated him the most, though, were those glossy red-painted lips twisted into a devious smirk, those sparkling blue eyes simply highlighted with a simple cat-like dash of black eyeliner, and the fact that all her piercings were adorned with simple black studs.
She was glorious.
She was devious.
He was-
"Keep your lips to yourself, Kyoya. I'm still miffed at you. This just takes precedence at the current moment." Sam bit out with a wry expression.
-still in trouble.
Damn.
"We'll discuss this after my meeting with the world renowned Ootori Yoshio-sama." Her smirk turned cold and business like.
His eyes widened. Just what was her plan and how is she planning to pull it off? His father is a very dangerous man, with dubious business morals and enough money to do whatever he pleases.
She wrote him a note in his own note book.
I can't tell you the plan; because for it to work, you have to react naturally. Just trust me.
He looked into her eyes for a long time and she stared back, unleashing the full force of those thought-scrambling blue eyes upon him.
He nodded. "We'll be arriving shortly, Sam-chan."
Her cold smirk still in place, she responded in a business-like tone. "Excellent."
/Back in Sam POV/
Sam was pulling out the big guns, so-to-speak, for this particular prank.
She emulating everything her honor-less father would be proud of.
She was being a slightly-ditzy, snobby, heiress with "delusions of grandeur."
As they entered the driveway to the cold-looking mansion of the Ootori, she took a deep breath.
She could do this.
She turned on the faux-innocence, dulled her cunning, and brought out her uncertain smile; but walked with confidence.
As Kyoya opened the door for her, she gracefully walked out without so much as a thank you.
She merely nodded "graciously" and smiled demurely.
He was back behind his emotionless mask.
So far, so good.
There, Ol' Yoshio was; watching all of this like a hawk. Just like she expected.
She put her shoes in the cubbies off to the side in the entryway, almost like it was a second thought, and haphazardly put on the provided slippers provided by the servants.
She shot the cold man an "apologetic" grin, and bowed fully to her waist and said with a slightly mispronounced, "My apologies, Ootori-sama; I am still getting used to your customs."
Kyoya merely raised a brow at her.
The old man noted that and with a slight smirk, replied, "Quite alright, dear. But if you could drop the act; it would be much appreciated."
/Kyoya POV/
He froze.
What the hell-
But Sam didn't even flinch; she just dropped her whole "easily manipulated" persona that she had built in her entry and grinned a shark-like smile, "You caught me, Ootori-tono. That just means that your reputation is correct, and that I can rest peacefully with the offer I'm about to make."
Kyoya was now openly gaping at his girlfriend in shock and a little horror. She was playing with fire; how could he salvage the situation?!
His father raised a brow and said somewhat coldly, "I'm listening."
Sam smirked the coldest smirk he had ever seen.
/Sam POV/
She straightened her back even more to her full height, "When I take over McIntire Co in less than two years, I might consider a merger with Ootori Group."
Kyoya's mask was getting steadily more cold and betrayed. This has to be done, Koi.
Yoshio looked at her with shock at her audacity and asked sharply, "And why would we consider that? We are primarily in the medical field, as you well know."
She grinned her most machiovillain grin and stated deviously. "Exactly. Let's be honest here, Ootori-tono; my father's disdain for other countries is as famous as your private police force in our circle. Just imagine cornering the market in both the medical field and the weapon field. It's a veritable gold mine. And I'm willing to partner with Ootori Group equally with one condition."
His gaze turned calculating and glacial, "And what might be worth that generous and somewhat foolish offer?"
Her grin turned as glacial as his, "Your third son gets to be the head of McIntire Co."
Ooooo, that got that vein in his forehead pulsing.
Then he looked at the betrayed Kyoya and calmed, "If you'll wait here for a moment; I'd like to discuss this with my son first."
/Yoshio POV/
That little American twit may be cunning, but no one does cunning like the Ootori. She won't even see it coming. Now to give his disappointment a chance to prove that he wasn't a complete failure.
His son was looking just broken enough. Perfect. "Son, this is a great opportunity for us to double our fortune and leave that traitorous little harlot with nothing. Can you handle it?"
His son blankly said, "Whatever you wish, Otou-san."
Perfect.
/Sam POV/
All is going to plan. Sam grimly thought as Yoshio and her hurt but blank-faced love came out of the office, with a smirk still in place.
Yoshio and Kyoya bowed slightly and said, "We accept."
She inclined her head at them back. "A pleasure doing business with you, Ootori-tono."
She then smirked and sent a smoldering look at her boyfriend and said, "Kyoya-kun~! I believe that we have some unfinished business to attend to."
He put on his fake-smile and said, "Of course."
He then held out his arm, and she dragged him towards his room. (It had his name on it.)
Once she shut the door, he raised both brows at her and she held a finger to her lips and scanned the room. Ah, there it is.
She pulled out a hidden visual and audio recording device and whispered into it in her most whore-ish voice, "Sorry, Ootori-tono; but I don't want any voyeurs of this business."
And she crushed it.
/Kyoya POV/
He looked at her incredulously, and asked, "How did you know that was there? Also, was THAT your brilliant plan?! Because now he wants me to double-cross you, you know!"
She smiled at him a bit sheepishly, but still defiant. "Okay, so I'll address these questions in order. One, your dad struck me as the same type of cut-throat bastard mine is; and that was proven when I found that bug. And I can answer questions two and three simultaneously, yes; because now that he thinks that he has the upper hand and will never be expecting it when we pull the rug out from under him and you get McIntire Co all to yourself as we make our own endeavors into the medical field."
He was once again blown away. How could he have ever doubted her? This was absolute business brilliance!
He was unsure if he wanted to yell at her for doing something so dangerous, thank her for making his plans much easier, or kiss the life out of her. Since he knew that all three options would likely get him punched in the face; he created another option.
He started laughing whole-heartedly at the brilliance at the plan and picked her up and started spinning her around with him.
She smiled back and couldn't help but laugh with him.
For a moment.
She sobered, though still had a slight smile on her face. "Put me down, Kyoya; we've still got to have some discussions."
/Sam POV/
The kicked-puppy expression he got at that was actually kinda adorable, but he wasn't off the hook for his behavior yesterday AND she needed to pick his brain about the situation with her father.
"Oh, you know that last night I was in the middle of a breakdown. Now, I'm back to my plain-old 'don't bullshit me' stance." She said tiredly. "In the past few weeks, I have been in a state of near-constant paranoia and fear. Being with you and the fact that you never 'hosted' me was one of the things that has kept me sane and made me love you; and after meeting your father I can't fully blame you for having such a mindset as you have. So yesterday, when you started acting off; it troubled me. But I brushed it off, because I know you. Then, I notice that those thugs were only acting drunk; and believe me, I know the difference! I immediately set about taking them down; trusting all of you to protect my little sister for me, whilst I took down those suspicious men. You all did brilliantly; and for a moment, I was relieved. Then I discovered that my dad is a two-faced, traitorous bastard. But I was calm, because I knew you would be there for me. And then, after that awkward dinner from hell… I walked in and saw that. So answer me this, how would you have reacted if the situations were reversed? If I had Tamaki pinned to prove that he does indeed love Haruhi romantically, or some such hare-brained idea?"
She looked at him, dead in the eye and let that sink in.
/Kyoya POV/
Kyoya's mind was swirling. He would have been furious if Sam did something like that! He would have been so betrayed and hurt; that he wouldn't have been able to react calmly and he probably would have beaten the fuck out of Tamaki before breaking up with Sam….FUCK.
"Please tell me that you're not going to break up with me. I love you, Sam." He was actually pleading with her.
And then she smiled at him, still looking every bit exhausted as someone who had run a marathon. "Baka! I love you too much for that. But I'm going to ask you to list and compare the number of insults for your own gender that have to do with being feminine and vice versa. Do your research and I might allow you more than a hug for the foreseeable future. Oh, and I want you to sincerely apologize to Haruhi."
Her smirk was so devious…it was driving him crazy.
She actually burst out laughing, "You're so- so- ADORABLE! This is going to be a difficult punishment for me as well, it seems."
Her eyes were sparkling warmly for a moment, before they darkened into a furious glimmer.
"Now onto the subject of my father. " She growled.
He raised an eyebrow as a request for her to elaborate.
"Something about all of this bullshit still strikes me as off and out of character for him." She stated, chewing on her lip ring.
/Sam POV/
He raised his eyebrow even further at her and he asked, "How so?"
Sam pondered how to phrase this, "All my life, he has always felt the need to be in absolute control…he doesn't seem like one who would be content just supplying the terrorists with weapons. Terrorists, whom he has made a point to tell me at least a million times, that he was protecting me from by making weapons for the US Armed Forces. The reason for my negligent isolation, the reason for my never being allowed outside of the house alone, and the reason I took it; was that. Well, for the most part. "
Sam had to pace now, she was on to something.
She continued, with Kyoya's attention fully on what she was saying, "Then, when he's fed up with my rebelling against him, instead of sending me to the boot camp that was less than thirty minutes away; He sends me out of the country, to a school where everyone has their own private security and I have my lovely, unguarded apartment. It's all contradictory."
Kyoya spoke up then in a dark voice, "Unless he's working with them; instead of against them."
So she wasn't wrong. She let one tear escape, to mourn the last shred of hope she had of having a civil relationship with her father; she didn't have time for another anxiety attack.
Her love gathered her in his arms, and asked softly, "So what are we going to do about it?"
She said, "We're going to plan. I'll write down what I have so far; and then give you my journal so that you can make a way for it to happen all above-board so that he cannot drag us down with him."
And she started writing extremely fast in the latest part of her black journal.
/
When she was done, she handed it to her love.
Then she yawned.
She kissed him on the cheek, and said, "Well, I'm off! This day has been long enough already. I'll just walk home; don't wanna push your old man too far!"
She smiled at him, "I still love you."
And left, knowing that she probably wouldn't see him for a while.
/
She waved to Ranka as she headed to her apartment and opened the door; noting that it was unlocked.
How sloppy of them.
Was her last thought before she let herself be struck from behind by the person dressed in all black into unconsciousness.
/Ranka POV/
There was something off about his cute little Sam-chan.
So he decided to call Kyoya-kun, "Kyoya-kun, I was just wondering if you and Sam broke up or something because she seemed really sad and broken as she walked to her apartment!"
/Kyoya POV/
His eyes widened, she wouldn't- He hastily told Ranka to stay put and hung up.
He tore open and read her list:
-After they kidnap me when I get home, get Ranka and Haruhi to a safe place. (I recommended the Morinozuka's as Haruhi will be the least likely to maim them.)
-Get Interpol to do an investigation on my passport's authenticity, as I doubt it was legal
-Keep the host club going; I don't want you to stop living because I plan on winning this thing!
-I re-wired that bug so that its transmissions will be sent to your computer; keep them safe and make sure that you work with the authorities to make this happen!
-Never forget that I love you and that I have complete faith in you. I love you Kyoya Ootori, with all of my heart. And I have already forgiven you.
He was shaking and there was a lone tear that went down his face, before he made a call, "Tamaki. Could you gather the rest of the gang? We have an emergency."
/Tamaki POV/
Tamaki immediately sat up in his bed and responded, "Anything else? What's wrong, Kyoya?"
He had never heard his friend in such a shaken state.
"Yes, get Haruhi to bring Ranka. Also, can we meet at your house?" Kyoya's voice was quivering, but determined.
Tamaki said, "Consider it done, mon ami."
This could only have to do with Sam's safety being threatened.
He made a group call as he got out of bed and changed into some normal clothes.
"Men, and Haruhi, we have a situation. Kyoya is in need of our aid and it is very likely that something has happened to Sam. Haruhi, bring Ranka-san with you. This is not up for debate."
After receiving confirmation from all of them, he woke up his driver and told him to go pick up Kyoya and bring him back here.
/Haruhi POV/
"Daaaad?!" Haruhi called, already freaking out.
"What is it, Haruhi?" Ranka asked, half out of his make-up and shirtless.
"We need to get to Tamaki-sempai's house now, something's wrong." Haruhi explained in a panicked tone as she packed up a bag and ran out to look at her older sister's apartment.
The door was hanging off the hinges.
Just then, Tamaki's car pulled up and honked.
Her dad rushed her to it and followed her in.
Kyoya-sempai was already in there, holding his face and shaking.
Sharing a look with her father, they both gently gathered the shaking Shadow King into their arms.
/Kyoya POV/
When they had all gathered in the spacious living room, he couldn't even find the words; so he just passed around the page she had written the list on.
Their noises of shock, outrage, and fear shook him out of his semi-catatonic state.
"Listen." He called softly, but still authoritatively. "Sam knows her enemy, so she was most likely captured. That hot-head that we all know and love recklessly put herself in danger in an attempt to protect us. No matter how foolish that idea might have been, we honor what she told us. But we also cannot count on it to not hit some snags that we must fix."
He paused to let all of that sink in. The club had never been as quiet or serious as it had at this point of time and he couldn't even enjoy it because of the cause.
"Who's with me?" He asked quietly.
"I am." Tamaki said with the serious and sad face he usually only got when talking about his mother.
"We are." Ranka said, holding a crying Haruhi in his arms.
"We definitely are." The twins responded, sitting incredibly close to one another for comfort.
"So are we." Mori-sempai responded, because Hani-sempai seemed to be in such a state of rage he was incapable of speech.
"Then let us begin…" Kyoya knew this was going to be the longest night of his life, for he refused to sleep until Sam was back with him.
/Sam POV/
She woke up with a rip-roaring headache and surveyed her surroundings.
Hilarious. She was in her old room, but all of her stuff was removed besides the mattress. Damn, her father was a Drama Queen of Voldemort proportions.
Time to enact her plan to get him monologuing and reckless in his revelations. She activated the bug that she had hidden in her mouth, next to her lip piercing to avoid detection.
She started singing loudly, sarcastically, and sweetly at the same time*,
"Papa, can you hear me?
Papa, can you see me?
Papa, can you hear me in the night?
Papa, are you near me?
Papa, can you hear me?
Papa, can you help me not be frightened?"
Immediately, some large person pounded their fist on her door, and grunted in a thick Eastern European accent, "Shut your yap, you dumb broad!"
Ooooooh, so her father had enough power in KNIFE to have goons guard her door. Time to flip through her internal songbook.
Ah, that one would work nicely. She breathed deeply and sang again but even louder,
"The drones all slave away, they're working overtime,
They serve a faceless queen, they never question why.
Disciples of a God, that neither lives nor breathes, (I won't come back!)
But we have bills to pay, yeah we have mouths to feed! (I won't come back!)
I won't come back!"
That one broke his temper, so she heard him jangling with the keys and the door rattling. Time to put on the innocent face.
The man who could only be described as furry and huge stomped in and threatened, "I'm warning you, bitch, it's only on the Boss' orders that I don't beat the shit out of your stupid face!"
Oooooooooo, sounds like Daddy worked his way to the top. Better make sure, though.
In a sweet and innocent voice, "Sorry, Mister. I'm just so bored in here. Do you think I could talk to my dad?"
His face hardened and he grunted as he stomped out of the room, slamming the door ever-so-rudely. And then he locked it again, seemingly remembering that he was supposed to.
Well that just will not do, will it? And I know just the song to bring him back in here in a damn fury….
She smirked and started singing one of her personal favorites and tauntingly sang,
"They're gonna clean up your looks
With all the lies in the books
To make a citizen out of you
Because they sleep with a gun
And keep an eye on you, son
So they can watch all the things you do
Because the drugs never work
They're gonna give you a smirk
'Cause they got methods of keeping you clean
They're gonna rip up your heads,
Your aspirations to shreds
Another cog in the murder machine
They said all teenagers scare the living shit out of me-"
At the point it sounded like he was so angry that he had dropped the keys and was trying to pick them up and missing the key hole.
I'll take that to mean that I should sing louder.
So she did,
"They could care less as long as someone'll bleed
So darken your clothes or strike a violent pose
Maybe they'll leave you alone, but not me-"
He finally managed to open the door, and Sam could just see the steam pouring from his ears.
"Did I do something wrong? I just enjoy singing very much and it's ever so quiet in here. So I thought, 'Hey, why not sing something Big Red out there could identify wi-" Sam was rudely cut off by a fairly strong punch to the gut. She grunted a little.
Luckily for her, and unluckily for him, she knew how to take a hit. But he needn't know that.
She fell over and coughed.
And brattily whined, "My father won't be very happy with that!"
He was practically growling now-
/Kyoya POV/
Interpol Agent Peters was staring at the translating sub-titles of everything Sam sang and said with an incredulous chuckle, "Damn, this girlfriend of yours is either is incredibly reckless and stupid; or she's brilliant and has balls made out of brass!"
Kyoya snarled. "My girlfriend is still in the hands of a hostile force and is taunting them mercilessly! I fail to see the humor in that! The plan may be brilliant, and my Sam is brilliant, but that doesn't mean that I want her there doing her best impression of a punching bag!"
They both froze when they heard the man yell; Peters immediately paled and Kyoya impatiently waited for the translation.
FUCK YOUR FATHER'S ORDERS!
Kyoya paled more dramatically than Peters.
"We've almost got enough, Ootori." He said grimly.
/Sam POV/
Sam smirked through the pain in her gut where the man kept punching her and grunted, "Oh. So..shit!.. my father….watch it, will you?!.. IS your boss?"
Big Red immediately froze and swore. And then he turned to her, "Name your terms for keeping this quiet."
Sam's smirk widened further, she spat out the blood from biting her tongue daintily, and she pretended to ponder his demand for a moment.
"How about this: you arrange for me to speak with my father face-to-face and I'll keep my songs not directed at you. I really have nothing against you personally, just him." Sam offered with a sickly sweet grin and her best evil gleam in her eyes.
He looked irritated, but probably had a moment of actual brain-function that told him that this was the best he was going to get from her.
He growled, "Fine."
And he stomped off in that charming manner of his.
And slammed and locked the doors.
"He really needs Anger Management courses, doesn't he?" She murmured both to herself and to assure Kyoya that she was alright.
/Kyoya POV/
Agent Peters was laughing hysterically at his Sam's smart mouth; but Kyoya now had to pinch the bridge of his nose to fight off a stress induced headache when she started humming a little bit and working out the kinks in the melody. It was so beautiful.
Then she started singing and Agent Peters coughed and said, "I think this one's for you, kid. I'll read the print-out later. I'm grabbing a coffee; shall I get you one as well?"
Kyoya nodded as he read what his Sam was singing,
"(I'm an angel with a shotgun, shotgun, shotgun,
An angel with a shotgun, shotgun, shotgun..)
Get out your guns, battle's begun,
are you a saint, or a sinner?
If love's a fight, then I shall die,
with my heart on a trigger.
They say before you start a war,
you better know what you're fighting for.
Well baby, you are all that I adore,
if love is what you need, a soldier I will be.
I'm an angel with a shotgun,
fighting 'til the war's won,
I don't care if heaven won't take me back.
I'll throw away my faith, babe, just to keep you safe.
Don't you know you're everything I have?
..and I, wanna live, not just survive, tonight.
Sometimes to win, you've got to sin,
don't mean I'm not a believer.
..and major Sam, will sing along.
Yeah, they still say I'm a dreamer.
They say before you start a war,
you better know what you're fighting for.
Well baby, you are all that I adore,
if love is what you need, a soldier I will be.
I'm an angel with a shotgun,
fighting 'til the war's won,
I don't care if heaven won't take me back.
I'll throw away my faith, babe, just to keep you safe.
Don't you know you're everything I have?
..and I, wanna live, not just survive, tonight.
ooooohhhhhhhh, ooooooohhhhh whoa whoa oooh whoa
I'm an angel with a shotgun..
fighting 'til the war's won..
I don't care if heaven won't take me back..
I'm an angel with a shotgun,
fighting til' the war's won,
I don't care if heaven won't take me back.
I'll throw away my faith, babe, just to keep you safe.
Don't you know you're everything I have?
(I'm an angel with a shotgun)
..and I, want to live, not just survive, tonight.
(Live, not just survive)
..and I'm gonna hide, hide, hide my wings tonight.
They say before you start a war,
you better know what you're fighting for.
Well baby, you are all that I adore,
if love is what you need, a soldier I will be. "
Kyoya's heart simultaneously broke and soared as he read the words translated as she sang them.
She wrote a song specifically for him and to help him get her out of her prison, mere minutes after being beaten.
He was more determined than ever before to find her, and destroy those who got in his way.
He then heard her stop singing his song and start with one that he definitely knew was not directed at him.
/Sam POV/
Ah, there's father's confident footsteps and Big Red's stomping ones. Showtime!
Sam took a deep breath and put all her rage and sarcasm into this one,
"Who's to know if your soul will fade at all
The one you sold to fool the world
You lost your self-esteem along the way
Yeah
Good god you're coming up with reasons
Good god you're dragging it out
Good god it's the changing of the seasons
I feel so raped
So follow me down
And just fake it if you're out of direction
Fake it if you don't belong here
Fake it if you feel like affection
Woah you're such a fucking hypocrite
And you should know that the lies won't hide your flaws
No sense in hiding all of yours
You gave up on your dreams along the way
Yeah-"
She heard the swift click of the door, so she sat up straight and put on a bemused expression.
"Why, father! It's such a surprise to see you here! I mean, I just asked the fine gentleman behind you to let me speak to his boss and-" Her eyes were cold but her sarcasm was scathing.
She stopped because her father cut her off by interrupting her! Honestly, did slimy bastards have no manners anymore?
"Can it, Sam Alex. I know that you were figuring things out; that's why you're here." His voice was just as irritated and exasperated as she remembered!
She made a faux-surprised look at him and snarked, "You mean the lovely renovation to my room? Your boss let you do that?"
Her father started laughing somewhat psychotically, and abruptly stopped. "Finally the smart ass comes to the wrong conclusion! Thanks for the laugh, Sam Alex. But no, Blade** is not the boss. I am."
Sam paled and was genuinely shocked into stuttering, "But- but- all this fucking time- you said-"
/Kyoya POV/
Kyoya was more enraged than he had been up until this point and those translations weren't happening fast enough!
"I lied. You seem to have figured out that much, so why is this so hard to believe? Hell, I created KNIFE so that I could essentially own war and have people know their proper place in comparison to me!"
He heard his Sam sobbing something out. When he read it, he understood what others meant by 'seeing red.'
"W-why are you telling me thi-is? Why n-now?!"
"Because you're either going to play nice and let me arrange a husband with a proper mindset; or you're going to be killed by those despicable bastards at KNIFE!"
/Sam POV/
Sam's brain was whirring away. She needed a way to stall them. Damn, I can't stop cry- Eureka!
She let her sobs grow stronger and louder and asked in a tremulous voice, "Can- can I at least have a couple of weeks or even days to think about it? I will, because for all my talk, I do quite enjoy living! Please, Daddy! I don't want to die!"
She then latched her arms around his knees and looked up at him with big, weak, and broken blue eyes swimming with tears; and she looked at him like he was fucking God.
Any day now, Kyoya-koi! I may barf after this.
He looked at her with satisfaction and had the audacity to call her by the same irritating nickname he gave her as a little kid, "You get one week. And I'll even let your mom come talk to you if you need guidance, Sammy."
She forced back bile before looking at him with a tremulous smile and quietly stammered, "Th-thanks, Daddy!"
ANY GOD-DAMN MINUTE, YOU GUYS!
/Tamaki POV/
Tamaki was enraged, himself, but Kyoya needed to get away from that before he started throwing things. (The helpful agent had been sending all of the club members hourly updates via text.)
Also, Kyoya needed to eat more than a couple of Commoner's rice balls and drink more than gallons of Commoner Coffee.
He also needed to honor Sam's wish of continuing the club, and today was the day when their sister schools were coming to see how things run at Ouran. Sam would kill them later if Kyoya didn't participate in this.
Agent Peters was already assembling a team to go destroy the monster and save Sam, and for now that would just have to do!
The entire club was more sullen without his second daughter's silly antics and charming laughter.
The guests were told that Sam had to go home to talk to her father; and they were sad as well.
Luckily, today there were no guests so they could just comfort Kyoya and cajole him (and themselves) into eating and-
Their doors were rudely kicked open and they all looked up in their knight cosplay at three women loudly singing and disparaging their club.
Tamaki was about to defend his club, when the others beat him to it.
"Excuse me, but I happen to be texting my boyfriend who is in the middle of a panic attack thanks to his verbally abusive father. I don't have time for your hypocritical nonsense." Kyoya spoke in an ominous monotone that never boded well.
The twins stood next to him and said together, "We haven't the time to deal with you homophobes."
Mori and Honey spoke in the same quiet but dangerous tone. "Leave."
Haruhi's response was the best though. "You three make me disgusted to be a member of the same gender as you. Maybe it's ladies such as yourself make me prefer men."
And then she wrapped her arm around his waist.
With a new found confidence, Tamaki put in the final word, "I'm sorry, ladies; but hatred is unwelcome in our club. I'm going to have to ask you to leave."
He wrapped an arm around Haruhi's waist and smiled at her.
For the first time in history, the girls of the Zuka Club left at the behest of men; and speechless, too!
/Kyoya's POV/
Kyoya went back to texting Agent Peters, demanding to go with them when they rescued Sam the next day.
Either you let me stay on the plane while you clear the place and then let me hold my girlfriend; or I charter my own plane and storm in there myself, causing an international incident on your watch. Your choice, Peters-san.
He could almost hear the aggravated sigh of the agent as the reply came.
Fine, Kid. But you stay on that plane until we give the all clear and you WILL follow our orders.
Kyoya truly smirked for the first time in 37 hours.
I believe I can do that. Thank you, Agent Peters.
/Sam POV/
Sam didn't have to fake being broken. The silence was getting to her, she was starving, and she was damn thirsty.
She could cure the silence; so she started tapping out a rhythm on her lap and tried to sing something that was both true, but gave nothing away.
Slowly the words came, and she sang them with a conflicting mixture of sarcasm and sincerity in her voice,
"You grew up in a tiiiiime
Where racism was fine, but
Integration was the bottom liiiiiiiine
But that's not mine.
Let me falter, let me fall
Just let me learn it a-allll
You wanna hold my hand,
But that thwarts what I have
Pla-aaaaaaaaaaned!
If my hand's in yo-ours…
How then can I soar?
I've grown up in a ti-i-immmme
Where racism is bad, but
Being gay is the new criime
Where do people draw the
li-ine?!
Let me falter, let me fall
I want to learn my so-oul!
I know what Society wants
Of me,
But that's not who I wanna
Be!
Let me falter, let me fallll
I know I can't learn it a-ll
You think you know what's
Best for me,
But in your arms, I can't
Be freeeeeeeeeee!
Maybe then I could find me…"**
Sam faded out at the end. That song was the perfect expression of how she currently felt, but her father could take it as her giving up and being conflicted.
A soft applause broke her out of her almost catatonic thoughts.
"Hello, mother. I'd offer you a seat, but I don't believe you'd want to be on my bed right now. It's soaked with my tears and blood-spit currently." Sam dryly stated, with almost dead eyes; looking upon the woman who had never turned in the Monster, even for her own child's life. ***
"You know, I'm a prisoner as much as you are. You just need to learn when to give in and just survive. I want you to live. I want to continue to hear your beautiful voice sing for years to come." Her Mother grasped at her hand so weakly, that it set off the rage that Sam had been working so hard to contain and release at the correct targets.
"Mother, there's actually a song that's been bouncing in my head for a while as to how I feel about you. Would you like to hear it?" Sam asked in a weak and earnest voice. (She had written this song over the past few months, but she'd never sang it; or even thought to sing it directly to her mother.)
Her Mother nodded hesitantly.
Sam took a breath and sang from her heart,
"If you should change your name,
I'll love you just the same
And if you should run away,
I would save your place
So you can go, go, go
If you want to
I wouldn't try and stop you
I couldn't say I blame you
Flicker flicker fade,
Destroy what you create
And wonder why it always ends the same,
You wonder why it always ends the same
When I said, "I hate that song
About fire and sex you love."
I couldn't tell you why,
Why I did it, why I lied
I know it's wrong, wrong, wrong
It's evil but true
It's what I want to make you
(so I can say I blame you)
So I can say I blame you
Flicker flicker fade,
Destroy what you create
And wonder why it always ends the same,
Flicker flicker fade,
Destroy what you create
And wonder why it always ends the same,
You wonder why it always ends,
You wonder why it always ends the same
You live your life like you're not in control.
Like you're playing a role.
You live your life like you're not in control.
Like you're playing a role (convince me).
You wonder why it always ends the same (convince me).
You wonder why it always ends
(destroy what you create)
Wonder why it always ends, it always ends the same
[4x]
You live your life like you're not in control
Like you're playing a role
Flicker flicker fade,
Destroy what you create
And wonder why it always ends the same"
Her Mother was in tears and ran out of the room.
Sam somewhat regretted it now, but couldn't contain the resentment that had been building up in her for years.
Sam lay down on her side, and just let herself pass out.
She well and truly hated herself and couldn't stand to be in her own presence currently. ****
/Kyoya POV/
The wait as they flew at the fastest legal speed a plane could fly was intolerable, because they had brought the transmitter that corresponded with Sam's bug; it played every sound with unbelievable clarity.
Like the sound of her humming and sobbing in her sleep.
Kyoya could tell that it was even angering the seasoned agents.
How could someone listen to that and not want to bust some skulls?!
But they were thirty minutes away now, and the agents were preparing to jump straight in and get his Sam out of there.
He would have to endure.
/Sam POV/
Sam grabbed the hand that was about to touch her. It was her Mother's so she let it go.
"Sam! You must wake up! There's word that the Interpol are almost here and you need to be ready to face off against your father. I'll try to hold him off for as long as I can, but I know that I won't last long; but perhaps that will be long enough." Her Mother's eyes were darting around restlessly and panicky.
"Or perhaps it won't." Her father's voice rang out coldly and he punched her mother out.
"I think that it was enough." And Sam suddenly went at her father with everything she had, holding no moves and even doing the 'kill' moves.
Her father was no slouch, and certainly better fed than her at the moment, but she was gaining the upper hand when a shot rang out.
Her father fell with the most shocked expression on his face, he fell right into Sam; his blood gushing onto her hands from the wound in his chest.
Hey, look! It's Interpol.
And she passed out again, with the knowledge that she was safe.
/Kyoya POV/
-Flashback-
When Agent Peters brought her back to the plane, she was pale and covered in blood.
After he was assured that it wasn't her own and that she was mostly just in shock; Kyoya looked at him with a raised brow and then he made an executive decision.
"Hand her over to me." Kyoya demanded.
"She's covered in blood!" One of the agents countered.
"And I give absolutely zero shits. Hand. Over. My. Girlfriend." Kyoya was giving them all his darkest death glare that would make even Sam herself applaud.
-End Flashback-
And that brings him to now, when they're about to touch down back in Japan.
He gently kissed her forehead and said, "Wake up, Koi. We're about to touch down and some moron leaked this incident to the press."
"Fuck the press. I want sleep. And need therapy. Probably a shower, too." Sam grumbled, but sat up anyway.
Upon seeing that they were surrounded by strange men with guns, she snuggled closer to him and glared at those who were snickering at her.
"I would absolutely love to see how any of you would react to being in my situation." She said in that dangerous overly sweet tone.
They suddenly were blank faced again and Sam turned back to him, "Hey, Sweetheart? Could you maybe put on your Ootori mask when we face the press? I don't think that I could diplomatically handle that many idiots at once without resorting to violence and swearing."
Kyoya smiled at her and said, "As you wish. I had planned on suggesting that anyway. You really do need some medical treatment after that and so do I."
She smiled wryly, but it didn't reach her eyes, "Baka, I told you to take care of yourself."
Kyoya rolled his eyes and smiled.
His Sam was back, but she was severely damaged.
/
Kyoya stepped out of the plane after the Interpol agents, with his best 'I'm an Ootori so fear me.' Look and the press quieted almost immediately.
He smiled a frosty smile and spoke in a polite tone, "My dear girlfriend Sam has been through something deeply traumatic in these past few days, so I ask that you respect her wish to only give her statement and then let her get the medical treatment that she needs."
And then Sam walked out of the plane, straight-back and indifferent and stood beside him, clutching his hand, "As you have all probably heard by now, my father was an incredibly dishonest man. He probably always was. But the side of him I saw was the side he projected to the rest of the US. One of a staunch, stuffy anti-terrorist War Hawk. He isolated me as a child. He discouraged creativity. I was neglected. But this is all on him. As a legally emancipated minor with dual citizenship, I plan on making some changes with the aims of the company with the support of my loving boyfriend, Ootori Kyoya; and then I plan on going after my own dreams. When I'm ready. And when that is; is my own business. I thank you for your time."

(A/N: I know this chapter was incredibly long; but I don't know when the next time I'll be able to update will be. I'm having surgery tomorrow and I have no idea what sort of meds I'm going to be on.
*: A list of the songs and who they're by:
1. "Papa, Can You Hear Me?" Glee Arrangement, Lea Michele
2. "Drones" Rise Against
3. "Teenagers" My Chemical Romance
4. "Angel With a Shotgun" The Cab
5. "Fake It" Seether
6. "Let Me Falter" by me, your very own author (I can't believe I wrote an actual song either)
7. "Flicker, Fade" by Taking Back Sunday
**: I really wrote this song from the depths of my heart and I'm trusting you all not to let someone else steal it; Please, don't break my trust.
***: I have never been in an abusive relationship, but I have observed such relationships in the past. On that note, if you see someone in that sort of relationship: google and then call some help-line. You could be saving someone's life.
****: This is a line of thought that can lead to self-harm or even suicide. If you notice yourself or others suffering from such ideals; GET SOME HELP. It does not make you a coward or weak to not handle this on your own. I myself have had such thought and am currently seeking a therapist; there's no shame in it! If you think that they are going to actually go through with committing suicide: call 911 and then notify someone related to them who lives with them so that they can attempt talking them down or physically restrain them from doing so. You would be saving someone's life.
Please let me know what you think of this chapter whether it's through following, liking, and/or reviewing. Auf Wiedersehen!)
