Chapter 5

Jessica was taking a small time off from superheroing, as she has been busy for these past two months with mainly crime fighting and getting called for Avengers missions every now and then. She was enjoying her day off, she got to do her laundry and bathe and feed her son, Gerry. She was sitting on her sofa, currently watching an episode of F.R.I.E.N.D.S. whilst Gerry was on the carpet floor. Jessica quickly glanced down to her son who was playing with a Spider-plushie facing a dinosaur, the irony wasn't lost to her as she remembers Peter telling her about fighting a dinosaur in Savage land. Still, she couldn't help but smile widely at the cuteness.

She wished only if the father of her baby boy was present with them and this could perhaps be her small but perfect happy family. It's been TWO months, they're still finding a way to find the Web head back but still no news from Dr. Strange or Tony, apparently, though in Jessica's opinion, Stark's working on a way to get Spider-Man back out of reluctance, after being forced by Steve Rogers. Steve must've preached about 'being heroes even to our worst enemies because it's what we do' speech on Stark's ear over and over again that wore the billionaire playboy down in the end. She was skeptical of how much he was really trying though, but it's better than nothing.

The Avengers tried to tackle some of the crimes in the city, since the apparent increase in crimes, they somewhat helped where they could but not without some blowback from the public, as the avengers tended to be destructive when it came to crime fighting. If anything is to go by, the citizens of New York were starting to miss the wall crawler more than they like to admit. Newspapers were publishing articles like, 'Where is Spider-Man?' or articles about why Spider-Man is a greater hero than the Avengers, something Jessica wholeheartedly admits. The Avengers would often get called off for missions, leaving street-level heroes on their devices and that's when major crime organizations would choose to make their moves, so it has been a constant cycle.

Jessica could remember Daredevil's words of that one day she teamed up with him against Black Cat's thugs. 'People like you, the Avengers or Fantastic Four may scare the fat rats into hiding in their hole but when it comes down to it, it ends up being people like me, the defenders, or even Spider-Man that do the exterminating' Jessica felt like there was some truth to those words.

There was a newspaper placed beside her on the sofa, it was from the Daily Bugle with the title, TENSIONS BETWEEN SAJANI JAFFREY AND ANNA MARIA MARCONI OVER THE DIRECTION OF PARKER INDUSTRIES SINCE THE CEO OF PI PETER PARKER IS STILL MISSING.

'Alright, Jessica positive thoughts, Dr. Strange or Tony would find Peter, patience leads to success… Wait am I quoting DJ Khaled? Oh wow... Enough social media for now.' Jessica sighed, deep in her thoughts.

Jessica thought back about the good memories she shared with Peter, like eating pizzas from Eddie's Pizzas on top of the Empire State building. Peter told her that this was the place he goes, whenever he feels down or think about things, just to enjoy the view.

Flashback to a year ago

Spider-Man and his counterpart, Spider-Woman were enjoying pizzas on top of the Empire State Building, It was around evening, around the time of sunset, setting the perfect mood. Spider-Man was having his favorite pepperoni pizza with olives, meanwhile, Jessica was having a plain Margherita with herbs, although she was having a hard time eating as she was too busy laughing at the story Peter was telling her about.

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA you're telling me that you managed to put a diaper on Logan while he was asleep in his X-men uniform?" Jessica asked hysterically, with tears in her eyes from the laughter.

"Well I was lucky with that one, Jean was already pissed at Logan for hitting on her over and over again, so I asked her to lift Logan with her powers, enough for me to put the diaper on and take the picture and spread to people and the students in the mansion," Spidey said, chuckling while rubbing the back of his head.

Jessica smiled yet still asked, "How did he take it?"

Spider-Man shuddered at the memory and answered, "Let's just say that I was lucky that Rogue, Storm and the rest of the X-men were present to distract him, enough for me to make my escape."

"I think he genuinely wanted to kill me." Spider-Man said while sweat dropping at his mutant 'friend'.

Spider-Woman laughed and asked, "You think? I mean why did you pull that prank in the first place?"

"He dropped a Sentinel bot on top of me, saying it was an accident and he was smiling when he said that. He definitely did that on purpose, probably cause I said he smelled like two pukes making a baby. STILL, Imagine the audacity of that pesky wolverine, after all the hard work The Amazing Spider-Man put on to help the smelly caveman and his team.. Horrible" Spider-Man said with his arms crossed and shaking his head no.

"You should have heard about the time I put itching powder on JJJ's clothes.." Spider-Man said.

Jessica giggled while listening to her teammates' rambling. This is what she really liked about Peter, he had a sense of humor and he didn't take everything so seriously like Carol or Steve, although he can get serious when he needs to. He was the perfect balance of what she looked for in a man.

She mentally gagged at the memory of briefly dating Hawkeye who seemed to be always jealous of Peter's superhero alter ego for some reason. She and Clint often went on missions together and that's where it started but in a few days of dating, she found it impossible to be with him, as Clint was as narcissistic as they come. So she quickly cut her ties with him, especially when she found out that he cheated on her with someone he just met.

If she was honest with herself, when she was introduced to the Avengers, Jessica would go on missions with various heroes, even heroes that were not part of the Avengers, much like Spider-Man. When she first met him, she couldn't take him seriously, he kept acting like a clown but over time and time, she saw his various acts of heroism and kindness, both in and out of missions, then was the time that web-crawler gained her respect.

'Maybe I should ask him on a date, it's not like he's with that redheaded bimbo' Jessica thought while trying to build the courage to ask her work husband out.

Jessica blushed a little at the thought. She definitely likes the word husband associated with Peter, but it's too early to think about that right?

"Hey, Peter!" Jessica called out to the hero.

"What's up, Jess?" Spider-Man asked calmly.

Jessica slowly and shyly tried to voice her sentence, failing miserably, "Well I was... you out"

Spider-Man looked confused, "What?"

"Well, I wan….

SPIDER-SENSE

Both of them were interrupted when their spider-sense buzzed in their heads, they noticed from a distance Rhino trying to rob a bank.

"How about we quickly send Rhino to Rykers before his bedtime, by the way, what were you going to say? Peter asked.

"Don't worry, I'll tell you another time, let's deal with the unicorn over there" Jessica said, as she leaped from the building to head towards Rhino wreaking havoc, Spider-Man closely following after her.

'One day, I'll tell you about my feelings towards you' Jessica thought before she and Spidey fought Aleksei.

Back to present

Jessica smiled sadly at the realization that she never got to tell Peter about her feelings. With him stuck somewhere in some universe, God knows where. But on the plus side, she does have someone that reminds her of him, Jessica looked down again to see her Gerry still playing with his Spider-plushie and smiled brightly at the prospect of hopefully, one day telling Peter the truth. She really hopes that Peter gets back to them or to her and Gerry as soon as possible.

"Hey, Gerry! Would you like to go to your dad's favorite spot?" Jessica asked her son who only looked at her babbling and smiling.

"Alright! Let's get you dressed up and we'll head out!" Jessica said excitedly to her son.

Dbz universe

Peter was still wearing his gi given turtle hermit, though it was absolutely shredded, this time he had a vest underneath, which weighed 30 tons, with wristbands weighing 15 tons each and lastly training boots weighing 20 tons each. He was currently supporting 100 tons while sparring with Piccolo in the lookout.

Goku left after spending a year with Peter inside the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, something about Chichi killing him if he's even a minute late. Goku taught Peter the turtle hermit fighting style, flying which was hard, it took him weeks to get that right, ki blasts, which was remotely easy once Peter learned flying, the Kamehameha wave which in Peter's opinion was the coolest thing he could have seen, was the hardest thing that he had learned, it took him months to get that attack right. During his time inside the chamber, he found out more about the Saiyan, Peter couldn't help but feel admiration towards him, learning about what pushes him to fight, even if he is an alien, he was raised on Earth and he considers himself a human. He sacrificed himself so many times for those that he loves, his friends and his family, a man worthy of respect.

Goku reminded Peter of Captain America, with similar values yet different approaches. After Goku left, Peter spent 2 months in the lookout training with Piccolo with a little convincing on Goku's part before he left. Bulma would come by every now and then to check on him, sometimes with Vegeta who always had an insult or a snarky comment directed towards him. Sometimes he would go to Capsule Corp. which was like candy land for a scientist like Peter and spend hours with Bulma inside the lab, talking about The God Particle, string theory you name it.

Bulma gave Peter a haircut, after seeing his hair and beard the first time, as he couldn't groom himself properly inside the chamber. She insisted that Peter should keep the beard as it made him look handsome and manly, she trimmed it a little. Peter essentially changed after spending a year inside the chamber, he got bulkier with defined muscles from the training and wearing weighted clothes given to him by Piccolo with his clothes beam thingy.

'Actually, now that I think about it, Vegeta reminds me of good old Logan, always growling and stuff, pretty sure they would get along if they were to meet' Peter thought in amusement.

"DODGE!" Piccolo shouted before hitting him with a hard haymaker.

"You know Piccolo? Yelling dodge is more distracting than helpful." Peter said, getting up from Piccolo's hit and getting ready to resume the fight.

"Heh, that's the idea. looks like even without that spider-sense of yours, you're starting to adapt to your surroundings which is something" Piccolo commented before fastly flying for a jab, blocked by Peter, throwing a sidekick which was again blocked by Peter.

Peter flew back to get some distance between himself and Piccolo and said, "Well, when I trained with Goku, I found out I can turn it on and off as much as I want to. Also, I think it somehow evolved?"

Piccolo raised an eyebrow and asked, "Evolved how?"

"Well, I had mental shields in my head for 6 months, but when Goku took them down, my head just exploded, it was the most painful thing I have ever experienced. When Goku was about to approach me I saw visions of him, crouching down to help me, but then the vision disappeared and Goku did the same thing I saw him do in the vision" Peter said.

Piccolo caught on to the implication and asked, "So you can see the future?"

Peter answered, "In a way, yeah, I can see 5 seconds to the future. But I never figured out the reason why that happened."

Piccolo thoughtfully said, "It must be the result of your training, you did train your other senses plus ki training does sometimes either awaken or advance abilities within someone, I, myself have some abilities like manifesting weapons or clothes, I can telepathically talk to people, so it's not surprising."

Peter could only say, "Wow"

"You're going to have to train your future sight once your combat comes off as passable." Piccolo said before shooting ki blasts, Peter jumped in the air and dodged the blasts while flying.

"What? But Goku said I was at least decent and my combat skills have improved" Peter said while dodging the ki blasts.

"Just because he said that you have improved, it does not mean that you will be considered a good fighter, you need to have a worldview, to be able to understand, to be able to anticipate what your opponent would do, to be able to improvise, fighting is more than empty punches and kicks, fighting is about expressing ones will over the other." Piccolo kept on shooting ki blasts.

Peter was awestruck at Piccolo's in-depth speech, it certainly gave him a new perspective, he thought while dodging but then it struck him, "Wait! You're not aiming for me are you?"

Piccolo with an expressionless face only said, "Look up." Peter did as asked and saw all the ki blasts he dodged were levitating in the sky. Peter said, "Shit."

"HELL ZONE GRENADE!" Piccolo shouted. All of a sudden all the ki blasts moved toward Peter at blinding speed, covering him in blast after blast.

"Ohhhhfffff" Peter grunted in pain.

"This is what I mean by being able to understand your opponent and being able to anticipate any potential move onto yourself." Piccolo lectured before asking, "Do you understand now?"

"Crystal clear" Peter said while trying to get up after the onslaught of those ki blasts.

"Have Dende heal you and get some rest for the day, tomorrow we'll resume our spar once again."

"Yeah, might do that," Peter said, limping towards Dende.

Piccolo watched him leave with a smirk adorning his face, 'He reminds me of a young Gohan, what he really lacks is conviction in himself, hopefully, he works out his issues.'

Next day on the Lookout

Peter woke up early in the morning in one of the bedrooms in Kami's Palace, he had some breakfast given to him by Mr. Popo and then checked his emails from Bulma, from a laptop given by her to keep in contact. She was telling him, through her email, about a new project she was working on. Maybe he'll go down to Capsule Corp. and see Bulma, Trunks, and maybe annoy Vegeta too if he's there.

Peter sensed Piccolo's ki spiking, which meant he was done with his daily meditation routine and he was ready to start training. Peter really wanted to take a break but had to remind himself that he was training to get back to his universe, so he reluctantly got up from his bed and headed outside to start his training.

With Piccolo.

"I see you're up and ready, let's get started," Piccolo commented after seeing Peter coming out of the Palace and getting into his Turtle stance. Piccolo was getting into his Demon stance.

"I'm ready, my Elfy friend," Peter said before flying fast towards Piccolo with a barrage of punches.

'Initiation from him, good' Piccolo thought while blocking some blows. Piccolo shot a ki blast as a distraction which was swatted away by Peter. 'Ki handling has improved' Piccolo noted.

Peter was about to kick Piccolo to the side before he was interrupted by him.

"Why are you holding back?" Piccolo asked.

"What do you mean?" Peter asked back.

"You're subconsciously holding back yourself, thinking that I'm a delicate human, well I'm not. This is one of the reasons why you lost your past fights as a hero" Piccolo said.

"I see, wait, how would you know about my past fights?" Peter asked with a raised eyebrow.

Piccolo only looked towards Peter as if he was an idiot, "Did you seriously forget when I said I had telepathic abilities?"

Peter with wide eyes said, "DUDE! Privacy! What the hell is wrong with you!?"

Piccolo crossed his arms with a blunt face and said, "Calm down, I only looked through your fights, I'm not really interested with what you humans do with your lives, you should place mental shields at all times to avoid telepathic interference if that is one of your concerns."

Peter calmed down pouting and said, "I'm still not happy with that."

"Get over it." Piccolo said coldly, before continuing, "As I was saying, you're similar to Gohan, you're not using your strength to the fullest at the start of the battle, which gives your opponent a chance to counterattack and kill you. You have to come at me or anyone with everything you got so that your enemy does not get the chance of killing you before you do."

"I agree with everything but you meant to knock out right? I don't really kill." Peter said.

"I meant what I said" Piccolo added bluntly.

"What?"

"In a battle against enemies, you kill or be killed d and your enemies like Carnage, Morlun, Green Goblin or Kingpin are no different." Piccolo stated.

"But killing them will make me like them, what gives me the right to be the butcher? Peter asked slowly, getting angry at the prospect.

"That's an illogical statement, this attitude comes off as naive and arrogant. Arrogant because you think that you are better than them, by letting them go and dooming innocent people. Naive because it somehow implies that they are innocent if killing them makes you like them." Piccolo said with a scowl.

Peter was gritting his teeth, "It's not up to me to do this, we have a legal justice system that needs to be followed, I'm not a god, I can't decide someone's fate!"

"I've looked through your memories and I know that even you don't believe in what you're saying and yes you're not a god, you're a warrior that needs to do what needs to be done," said Piccolo.

Peter couldn't utter a reply to that, so he stood there angry and demoralized, Piccolo seeing this, he decided to add fuel to the fire.

"You know that girl Gwen? It's your fault she died in the hands of the Green Goblin." Piccolo said.

"What?"

"If you destroyed him before he could've done any damage, that girl would have been alive now," Piccolo said without any hesitation.

Peter only saw red and flew straight toward Piccolo with furious speed, "How fucking dare you? I tried my best that day, I even nearly killed Osborn, YOU KNOW NOTHING!" Peter shouted while going right hook and soon exchanging blows with Piccolo.

Piccolo was starting to get serious in his spar against Peter, as Peter despite being angry at Piccolo, was being careful and calculative with his hits, he was not holding back his strength anymore. Their spar was getting so intense that they didn't even pay attention that they were moving away from the Lookout, whilst they were fighting in the air. Piccolo dodged Peter's blow, grabbing him in the gi, pulling him behind him to move him slightly away from Piccolo.

Piccolo performed his multi-form technique making a copy of himself, before heading straight toward Peter. Peter was currently dealing with two Piccolos, which was getting to him, but he did his best to keep up. Normally, Peter was used to dealing with many people at the same time, but Piccolo was not a common thug or a robotic hydra agent, he was very skilled and much stronger. He was struggling, as the Piccolos were landing more blows on Peter, so he finally decided to activate his Spider-sense or 'future sight' as dubbed by Piccolo.

Suddenly, Piccolo was the one or the two who was struggling in their spar, both he and his copy were having a hard time landing blows, and keeping up with Peter's newfound speed and agility, Peter was landing blow after blow. His Spider-sense made everything slower around him whenever he's in danger, but ever since Peter trained in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, his speed improved drastically, as the chamber had 10 times the Earth's gravity and training with Goku… well, was 'effective' for his battle instincts. All of this basically meant one thing, Peter was untouchable, as Piccolo failed to get a good hit on the arachnid hero.

Piccolo grew frustrated so he raised his ki to the max and used it to move Peter away from him, but what he did not expect was for Peter to disappear from his sights.

"LOOK UP"

Piccolo saw Peter above him, charging for an attack.

"KAMEHAMEHAAAAAAAAA"

Piccolo was covered in Peter's Kamehameha wave attack, as he descended down to the ground below the Lookout.

Peter was huffing and looked down, "I should go look for him."

Peter flew down to ground level and saw Piccolo sitting on a crater, made thanks to his Kamehameha. None of them uttered a word for many minutes. Piccolo broke the silence and said, "Well done, you have improved slightly from the last fight, even if you started off by holding back, in a fight you should go all out from the start so that your opponent does not get the chance to do so."

Peter slightly smiled and began to rub the back of his head at the first compliment he ever heard from the Namekian, "Well gee, thanks, you have to admit the LOOK UP attack from me was a good comeback from yesterday when you kicked my spidery butt."

Piccolo said nothing while looking at him. Peter brought up something, "When you said that it was my fault that Gwen died, you were right, it was, my webs might have indirectly snapped her neck but I don't even know if she was dead already." Peter finished while looking in a distance.

"I said this to motivate you," said Piccolo.

"What?" asked Peter.

"You were holding yourself back as you do always, so I needed to give you a push." Piccolo explained.

Peter looked down and said, "I see."

"As for me being right, it doesn't matter, past is past, you can only learn and move on from it, my first student Gohan is a lot like you, when he was a brat he would whine and cry about not wanting to fight, but as time went on, he would step up and show how much heart he had when it came to fighting for his friends and family." Piccolo stopped before continuing, "Much like you, he did not like killing, but then he found it the hard way that he had to grow up. Before his friend died, he heard him say, Where you stand, you're a good man doing nothing, while evil triumphs, your rigid pacifism crumbles into bloodstained dust, the only victory afforded to you is that you stuck through to your ideals, you're a coward to your last whimper. So holding back. " Piccolo recalled while thinking of Android 16's death during Gohan's fight against Cell, in the Cell games years ago.

Piccolo looked toward Peter with a hint of some emotion on his face and said, "This is why I tell you to stop holding back yourself, try to better, both as Peter Parker and Spider-Man. Never let anyone walk over you, as a warrior it's your RESPONSIBILITY to bottle up your emotions and do what needs to be done."

Peter was wide-eyed, with some understanding and a realization look on his face, as he is starting to agree to what Piccolo has been saying to him and he felt like he could relate to that story, as they were times he wondered if his life would have been better or easier.

Piccolo broke Peter's thoughts away, the Namekian got up from where he was sitting and said, "Let's get ourselves healed and get some rest, you've earned it."

With that, both of them flew up to the Lookout.

Somewhere deep in space

'Heheheheheheh finally now that I'm back, I'll use the Dragon Balls to grant the wish I have been wanting my whole life! Hopefully, those monkeys won't get in my way!' said a voice of a certain Lord, with a Napoleon complex.
