Chapter 5 Getting to Know One Another
It's been a week since I met Tom for the first time and it is currently the weekend and Sam is currently hanging out with his friends with Uncle Ron with him and Aunt Judy is currently gardening when the doorbell rings and Aunt Judy goes to the front door, took her gloves she was wearing off and opens the door. She lets the person in and I can see that it is Tom who pressed the doorbell, Tom came in here, and Judy returned to gardening.
"Arietta what do you want to do after things with Dumbledore gets what he deserves?" Tom asks I think the question over for a minute
"I want to get mastery in runes, wards, and enchantments and to create a dream home in the mundane world but use magic to make it better, what did you want to do before Dumbledore messed with you, Tom?" I answer
"I wanted to be a teacher of the defence the dark arts at Hogwarts but I was denied by the headmaster and then everything with Dumbledore happened" Tom replies
"So what do you want to do now after everything with Dumbledore is dealt with?" I ask
"I want to be an inventor of sorts, I want to create ways to combat mundane technology like creating wards, spells to prevents Mundanes from finding us, protective amulets that do the same thing but in the mundane world and make it mandatory to wear if a witch or wizard is in the mundane world like for example a witch or wizard born from Mundanes. I want to go even further to create wards, spells and protections against mundane warfare just in case the worst situation happens" Tom explains
"That sounds perfect and what the magical world needs, if you don't know what you need to do to become an inventor in the magical world then you should probably research it" I comment
"I've never researched what you need to do to become an inventor in the magical world before so I will need to research to find out what I need to do to become an inventor," Tom says
"Tom, does MACUSA know about you being in America?" I ask
"No, they don't I plan to meet them after I have finished spending time with you" Tom answers
Meanwhile with MACUSA
"Please report your findings of Dumbledore" A MACUSA member voices
"The first thing I found out is that Dumbledore was in a romantic relationship with Grindelwald which was a very serious relationship" Officer Carter reports
"Is that the truth?" A MACUSA member asks
"I triple checked the information so I could be sure it is the truth and it is true no doubt about it" Officer Carter replies
"As Horrifying and Damaging to Dumbledore's reputation, it is not enough evidence to hold against him. What else have you found out about Dumbledore" Another member of MACUSA exclaims
"The second thing I found out is that Dumbledore let Severus Snape get away with knowledge of the prophecy to make sure that you know who learned of the prophecy" Officer Carter reports
"Do you have any proof that this is a setup?" A MACUSA member asks
"Unfortunately I was unable to gather the proof need to prove it was a set up" Officer Carter answers
"It is such a shame you were unable to gain the proof needed otherwise it would have been a brilliant piece of evidence to hold against him. What else have you found?" a MACUSA member exclaims
"The last thing I found out is that Dumbledore is partly involved with the Longbottom's fate, he wanted Neville Longbottom to be back up and he didn't want him raised as a spoiled pureblood heir and he put a strong block on his magic to make his family think he is a squib" Officer Carter says
"You were unable to get proof that is required for that weren't you?" a MACUSA member asks
"You are correct I could not find any proof no matter what I tried," Officer Carter says
"Clint, Natasha how is Arietta doing with her spy training?" A MACUSA member inquires
"Arietta is doing very well with her spy training, it doesn't take her too long for her to get the hang of it, she is a natural, with the right training she could become a brilliant spy" Natasha exclaims
"Natasha is right Arietta has an Aptitude for Spy training, she works hard at learning what we teach her doesn't take her too long to learn. Her brother Sam asked to be included in the lessons and we taught Sam alongside Arietta and while it takes a bit longer than Arietta for him to learn he appears to have the potential in becoming a spy as well" Clint voices
Back with Arietta
"Tom, can you help me learn the mind arts as you are the only one who knows about my past life?" I inquire
"Of course I will help you want to start now?" Tom agrees
"I do want to start now," I say
"A good amount of Occlumency is about you controlling your emotions and to compartmentalize your emotions as well as your memories" Tom starts and I make a mental note "what we are going to do together is I'm going to use Legilimency to try and read your thoughts and memories and you are going to prevent me by making your mind blank and keeping it that way and try to kick me out. Once you have worked hard on this for a good amount of time you will be known as an occlumens. We are going to work on this until you have mastered occlumency. When we are not working together you should meditate and create a mind palace in any shape and organize your thoughts and memories as well as creating layers of defence in your mind to make it even harder for people to get to your thoughts" Tom explains I nod and make a mental note about everything Tom has explained, "Ready to begin?" Tom asks
"I'm ready," I say
"Brace yourself" Tom warns I take a few deep breaths "Legilimens," Tom says I make my mind blank and I try to keep him out. This went on for an hour and after that we exchanged greetings and Tom left the house. I decided to work on my homework after Tom had left I started on the mundane work first. It's surprising how much I have forgotten but not forgotten at the same time of this stuff I remember enough of this level that I won't have trouble with the subjects until high school level it took me an hour to complete my mundane homework. I moved on to my magical homework which is so much more interesting. It took me less time to complete my magical homework as I find it interesting and in all, it took me half an hour to complete my magical homework.
I put my homework away in my school bags separating the magical from the mundane to the different school bags. I should focus on Occlumency so I can master it as soon as I possibly can I sit down on the chair and I close my eyes, clear my thoughts and I start working on building a mind palace taking inspiration from Sherlock Holmes in the process.
I decided to take a break for a bit so I went into my bedroom and I got my magic phone out and dialled the number for MACUSA and I waited for someone to answer.
"Hello, what is your reason for calling MACUSA?" A woman asks
"Hi I'm Arietta, I've met somebody else that has been screwed over by Dumbledore, and he has sworn an oath that he would not harm me" I voice
"Thanks for letting me know, I will let the others know and they will hear the person out. Can you tell me the person's name and appearance?" She responds
"The person's name is Tom Marvolo Riddle and he has jet black hair, dark eyes, and pale skin" I answer
"I will let them know have a good day," She says and hangs up. I went back to working on building my mind palace.
Meanwhile with MACUSA
Tom walks into the building MACUSA are in after he received an owl from a member of MACUSA asked him to come in to have a chat. Before Tom could go to the reception desk a woman walks up to him.
"Hello, Mr Riddle I presume?" She asks
"I am Mr Riddle miss?" Tom says
"Miss Sanders" She introduces herself "Please follow me," she says and Tom follows her to a private room.
"Miss Sanders what did you want to talk with me about?" Tom inquires
"Miss Witwicky told us that you were screwed over by Dumbledore and that you swore an oath that you wouldn't harm her will you tell me what Dumbledore did to you?" she inquires
"That night when the James and Lilly Potter died and I lost my body I felt a spell brake on me and I could think clearly for the first time in a while, when I got my body back I went to Gringotts and I got an inheritance test and here are the results of it" Tom explains and hands a test to Miss Sanders
"We are investigating Dumbledore and we can't find strong enough evidence we can prove searching on our own. Do you have any suggestions?" Miss Sanders asks
"I have only one though I don't think you will like the suggestion. The suggestion is that since physically I am the same age as Arietta Witwicky you let Arietta and I go undercover at Hogwarts as first years with one of your members going as well undercover as the defence teacher to help us as well as a way for Arietta and me to send a report to you if we find something. Dumbledore will not be suspicious of first-year students as he would be of the teacher so that is why I'm suggesting one of your members-only be to help us and to send reports to you from us" Tom suggests
"You are right we will not like that suggestion and we will discuss it and if it is the only option then we will let Arietta and you know about it" Miss Sanders voices
"If that is all I will go now," Tom says
"That's all takes care" Miss Sanders
"Good day" Tom voices and leaves the building.
Back with Arietta
I have finished working on my mind palace for the day and I have had dinner and I pick up my journal from the draw I keep it in and I open it up to a blank page and I get a pen.
Saturday 8th July 1995

I've had an eventful week since I last wrote in this Journal, I've not written an update as there was not much to talk about. So I will combine what I did in the week I didn't write a journal entry as well as what I did this week as well as today. The classes I currently have is basic spy training, charms, transfiguration, history of magic and languages, in the next term they will be adding herbology, Runes and Arithmancy to the classes Sam and I take. I guess they didn't want to add too many classes to the first term which I can understand.
I'm doing well with the classes I have, I find some lessons more interesting than others though I understand I need to have the lesson's I don't find too interesting as I do get more understanding the classes with them. In between classes and homework I spent time getting closer with Sam, Aunt Judy, and Uncle Ron. The classes I had this week are basic spy training, charms, transfiguration, history of magic and languages. I have made some good progress in the lessons.
Tom spent time at the Witwicky house where Tom and I spent time getting to know one another. I'm starting to see him as a friend. I asked him to teach me Occlumency as he has a copy of my memories in his mind already so I don't need to worry about asking someone I don't want to see my memories I don't want to see them. When Tom is here I will practice on keeping someone out of my mind and when he is not here I will focus on building my mind palace. Speaking of mind palace I have made some good progress already, I have Sherlock Holmes as inspiration and I put my memories and thoughts in a storage locker for now until I finish building my mind palace. What I managed so far in my session today with building it is the layout I want the mind palace to be as well as the foundation for the mind palace.
