Tricks, Treats, and Deadly Sweets
The loud music and voices as they descended the stairs to the bar of the Villain's Inn made Drakken slow his steps. His mind ran over the conversation they had shared about any moral and legal issues this might bring up later. He resumed his pace as he mentally pictured a route to where they had parked the hovercar in case of a needy escape. Walking through the entrance pushed the remaining thoughts from his head as the bright purple, green, and orange lights from the dance floor practically blinded him as he looked in that direction.
"Wow... I haven't seen so many garish costumes since your ill fated Masquerade party," snorted Shego, "Which is saying something, because it was bad."
"I'm not sure which is worse... the unnecessary strobe lights or the cursed looking Raggedy Ann and Andy obscenely dancing in them," scoffed Drakken.
"Oo, that's a tough choice," smirked Shego as they walked the rest of the way, "I might have to be more concerned about slutty Little Boe Peep and her flock of steroid sheep over in that corner."
Drakken glanced towards the direction and nodded.
"Bet they leave with anyone but her by nights end," wagered Drakken.
"Oh, you're on," chuckled Shego, "Let's find a seat-"
"Dr. Drakken!" yelled a familiar voice from their left.
Drakken felt a slight rage boil within him as he saw Frugal Lucre waving cheerfully at him.
"Oh my..." he heard Shego start before attempting to muffle a laugh.
It wasn't a good attempt and it further agitated Drakken as Lucre walked over towards them.
"I didn't think you'd be here!" he said cheerfully.
"I can see that- What are you wearing?!" snapped Drakken.
"Oh," Lucre looked at himself and gave a proud and slightly sheepish grin, "I'm you!"
The clarification of what Drakken had already regrettably assumed only made his blood boil as he got a clearer view of Lucre's 'Tribute' costume. An old thrift store blue pea coat that had its collar raised over a black turtleneck with a green button sewn to it was as troubling as the bright green belt and black dyed dish gloves... but the eye twitch Drakken was fighting was triggered by the attempted makeup... which looked like a child who'd gotten into their mother's blue eye-shadow and splashed it on their cheeks as if it were blush... the blue and black winged eye makeup however looked like there had been some effort... and only made Drakken's first clench.
"This is hands down the most insulting think I have ever seen," growled Drakken, "Am I a joke to you?"
Lucre looked shocked and then narrowed his eyes.
"No! I put in a lot of effort putting this together and Adrena spent a lot of time on the makeup, thank you very much," glared Lucre, "I think I did a great job!"
"You look great," Shego spoke, clear amusement in her voice.
Drakken glared at her.
"Oh no, my button," Lucre exclaimed as the one fell off his turtle neck, "Good thing I brought the sewing kit... I'm loving these pockets."
Drakken restrained his desire to punch as Lucre picked up the button and rambled about his costume.
"Relax, you should be flattered," smirked Shego, "You wanted to be respected... with it comes things like this."
"It's insulting," hissed Drakken.
"Uhg, can you not be in a sour mood so early... think of it as the highest praise and emulation," sighed Shego, "Imitation is the greatest form of flattery, right?"
"I..." Drakken trailed off as he looked beyond Lucre and smirked, "You're correct. I should be grateful."
He bit his lip and looked at Shego, a look of mild shock ghosted across her face before she smiled.
"Wow. Normally you whine for another hour," she slid her arm through his, "I like this attitude."
"I'm just listening to your advice," Drakken fought the devious smile as he looked over Shego's shoulder, "Good evening, Adrena."
He shouldn't have been as smug as he knew he was about to come off, but the grin remained plastered on his face as Shego turned around to greet her friend. It appeared Adrena and Lucre had decided to come in a couple's inspire costume... something he didn't care to know about or question... but it was giving him a sense of entitlement in the argument that had been about to break out. Adrena wore what could only be described as a leotard version of Shego's typical attire with high mismatched boots and a green streak in her hair. Her costume looked better quality than Lucre's but it looked more akin to something he'd seen in the Underground.
Shego said nothing but he watched her whole body tense as she clearly took in what she was seeing herself. Adrena took the silence as approval.
"Hey you two!" she smirked and gestured to her look, "Like it? I got it online from a place the bartender suggested. Did you know they have these in blue, purple, and red on Go City Costumes. I was going to call and ask to borrow one but I was worried it wouldn't fit so- Shego, are you okay?"
"Am I okay?" Drakken heard Shego growl.
He leaned to whisper in here ear.
"Imitation is flattery, remember," he hummed.
Her nails dug into his coat and he fought off his own snicker, far more successfully then she had her laugh earlier.
"I think you great," Drakken tried to mirror Shego's tone from earlier.
Shego shot him a glare before taking a deep breath and addressing Adrena.
"Why?" asked Shego.
"Oh, well... Lucre wanted to go as Dr. Drakken and I thought it might be fun to do one of those couples costumes... haven't done that since high school and why not, right?" snorted Adrena, "I'm just glad I found this because the other look Lucre had managed to find- Yikes!"
"There is a whole conversation we will have another evening about this," smiled Shego, "That's all I have to say."
Adrena's grin faltered for a second.
"In my defense, didn't think you'd be here," she added.
"That doesn't make this better." nodded Shego.
"Shego -" Drakken gave her a devious grin as she glared over her shoulder at him, "We should find a seat."
"You can join us!" stated Lucre, "I'm begging you. I don't know how long I can suffer through Motor Ed's vehicular talk before I find the confiscated weapon drawer Adrena mentioned."
"Eddie is here?" Drakken's smile fell, "How long do we have to stay."
"We'll join you," said Shego as she yanked Drakken with her as Lucre and Adrena led the way.
"You do know that you also have to suffer through an evening with Eddie," he whispered to her. Their walking slowed, "In case you forgot."
"What makes you think I only agreed to sit there to annoy you?" asked Shego casually. Drakken looked at her in silence, "Eh, fine... but its too late now, let's just sit down."
The decorations continued sporadically through the Inn and around the tables. Drakken's eyes caught the side of the bar where a newer looking poster of Kim Possible with darts in it was placed next to a poster of someone dressed as a creature with the title 'Villain of the Week.' He was about to comment on the posters until his eyes drifted to a large candy and sweets table in the corner. His brow furrowed as he saw very familiar signs as he sat down.
"I thought Dr. Sweets was no longer in production," whispered Drakken to Shego.
"That's what I heard," Shego followed his gaze, "Probably old stuff they want to get rid of... Where did Adrena get that costume?"
Shego's eyes narrowed towards the bar.
"The bartender is back from Go City... uhg great. How much gossip has been shared about Team Go."
Drakken raised his brow.
"I didn't think you'd much care at this point," said Drakken, "We aren't exactly villains, are we?"
He watched Shego's eyes un-narrow and a thoughtful look ghost across her face before a sour expression returned.
"True, but I'd rather limit anyone knowing about my brothers and the whole hero thing... I still have some respect in this community I'd like to keep," grumbled Shego. Her head turned swiftly back to the bar, "What are they wearing?"
Drakken sighed and looked over towards where the crowded bar was serving drinks. His eyes fell to the servers in question, unsure which one Shego was looking at.
"I see a mermaid, Zorro, a nurse, a... go-go dancer I'll use... and a super hero," shrugged Drakken, "You'd think it would be nice if they all planned that out... like a theme?"
Shego's eyes narrowed.
"I don't like that super hero costume... that's the bartender from Go City, right?" asked Shego.
"Ohm... yes... why are you bothered by it?" Drakken smirked, "Are you upset that it's purple and not green like Adrena's."
Shego crossed her arms and raised her brow at him.
"So... yes?" teased Drakken. Shego shook her heard and relaxed.
"Ah, look who it is?" came the familiar gruff of Duff as an arm slapped his shoulder, "Bored of the neutral life or just bored."
Duff smirked as he sat down next to Drakken. Blue paint across his face as a passing costume. Duff raised a brow at Shego and Drakken.
"Little lazy in the costume area, there," he snickered.
"Just and evening out..." Drakken glared, "Oh please you just have blue paint on your face and your usual attire."
"Hey! I'm Braveheart," scoffed Duff, "What are you two supposed to be."
"Right now, annoyed," sighed Shego as Adrena and Lucre joined the table again with drinks.
"Oh," Duff snickered, "This looks like it's going to be a belter."
"Not sure what everyone's drinking but I got us a picture of something," smirked Adrena.
"Hope you don't mind if I join," said Duff as he helped himself.
"The more, the better... should make the table bigger," Lucre looked around, "Wait... what are your opinions on motors and vehicles?"
"Not much of an opinion... why?" asked Duff. Lucre grinned.
"Broadening the topics that's all," Lucre muttered to himself as he slid over another table.
"Geesh, how long have they been here with Motor Ed?" whispered Shego.
"Lucre's as fond of Eddie as I am of Lucre," stated Drakken.
"So... like besties or something," teased Shego. Drakken glared at her, "Kidding... but you should appreciate your number one fan."
"I do... like anyone with fans... at a distance and with very little contact," added Drakken, "And if someday needed... a restraining order."
"So you don't want me to give them our address," asked Shego.
Drakken glared.
"Shego-"
"Oh relax, like I want any of them turning up on our doorstep," snorted Shego.
Drakken smirked and looked at the table, where Duff had now gotten into a conversation with Lucre about his costume. His eyes found the picture in front of them and debated on partaking in a few drinks. Mainly to deal with Lucre who was attempting to talk him into joining the conversation about his discount version of Drakken's normal attire. His brow furrowed less as Shego leaned back against him as she talked to Adrena. He waited for a whisper of some sort, but it took Drakken a second that she was simply leaning against him to just do so.
He stopped his arm from shifting to rest on her waist and instead clenched his first to grab the fabric of his coat. Mainly due to the fact he was having a few images flash through his head of a little prior and the dealing of her nails down his back. The fact her bare back was resting against him and if he didn't focus his vision properly, he'd easily be able to let his eyes wonder over Shego. He found himself going over the projects back at the lair and the music as Lucre and Duff had now begun arguing about something Drakken had no interest in.
Shego stopped leaning against him and instead sat up and leaned against the chair. His thoughts stopped rambling off ideas and color choices to look at her. She was still talking to Adrena, but her arms were now crossed and he saw a tint to her face. Drakken's focus on the conversation at the table return.
"If you think your going to step on my turf, we wrong," snapped Duff at Lucre.
"All I asked was how you get lucrative short jobs," retorted Lucre, "Thought it might be nice to extend my lair."
"I thought you lived in ye mother's basement?" asked Duff.
"It's a basement lair," glared Lucre.
"So Camille's been weird ever sense and last I heard she was trying to make amends with her father," Adrena turned from Shego to Lucre, "What about a basement lair?"
Drakken shook his head and leaned towards Shego.
"Such titillating conversations," he smirked.
"I think I'm going to get a drink," sighed Shego, "I don't trust pictures."
"Well given our past and Eddie being here..." Drakken tailed off as Shego stood abruptly and walked away from him.
Drakken stared after her and cringed as he felt Duff elbow him.
"You should be following her," whispered Duff, "That's an agitated lass, right there."
"I was going to," hissed Drakken as he stood up, "I didn't need to you to point that out."
"Kinda looked like you did," shrugged Adrena.
"What's happening?" asked Lucre as he poured a drink.
Drakken grumbled under his breath as he swiftly walked away from the table to where Shego had vanished near the bar line.
The thumping music and lights only made Shego more annoyed. Listening to Adrena ramble on about gossip that Shego normally would have been told by Junior was nearly as annoying as Adrena being perched on Lucre's lap while Drakken didn't even register her presence. If they had been there for simply socializing or even villainy, she wouldn't have cared... but the whole point of this outing was for them to go out as couple.
She took a breath and rolled her eyes at herself for getting agitated for something so small so early in the evening. Instead she focused on getting a drink and making sure to keep the bartender quite about any gossip she might have heard while in Go City. A villain Shego may no longer be, but she still didn't want anyone know knew her in the villain community to find out she used to be a superhero or any other possible embarrassing thing one might hear in the villain hang outs of Go City. She squinted through the crowded line in front of her to try and make out the one bartender's superhero costume.
She was so focused on making out any possible logo that when she felt fingertips touch her back, her hand ignited. When she spun around to threaten who had touched her, it occurred to her only seeing Drakken take a step back that it might be who she was there with. She was about to apologize but instead shrugged and let her hand diminish and turned back around.
"Did you need something?" she asked casually, "If you want chocolate milk, then you order that yourself."
"Ah, hmm... maybe," she heard Drakken muse, "Shego?"
"Drakken," she snorted and tilted her head to try and see the bartenders better."
"I came over here thinking something Adrena said had annoyed you... but getting a few mixed feelings now," he grumbled. Shego fought her own groan and stayed focused, "Feelings getting less mixed."
She waited for him to ask further about what had bothered her, but he stayed silent behind her. She sighed as a larger person blocked her view and her focus was broken. She decided to put the pettiness she'd been building on for no real reason fade and turned to face Drakken. His face was scrunched up as he'd been looking at the back of her head in whatever scrambled thoughts he was having. His fingers picking at his glove as he did so.
"What's with the face?" asked Shego.
His face un-scrunched and he stood straighter and shrugged.
"Its my face Shego, this is what it looks like," he grumbled, "If you're going to be in a mood than so am I-"
"Who says I'm in a mood," smirked Shego. She nearly snorted at Drakken's multiple expressions shifting over his face, "Can't find an emotion there, Drakken?"
"I—you- and- fine," he sighed and looked at the line, choosing to take her cue and move on, "Why is the line so long?"
"Well," Shego looked at the other bartenders and line variations," I could go over to mermaid over there since the superhero and Zorro have the longest line... but that's because these two actually make drinks instead of lightly flavored sketchy drinks."
"And you're hoping to threaten Gina?" asked Drakken as he nodded towards the superhero, "All because of the color choice... bit much Shego."
"Who knows what she learned in Go City," glared Shego.
"She learned how to help in escape routes, which I was rather grateful for," shrugged Drakken, "As was Killigan and Eddie."
Shego opened her mouth and then closed it as she recalled the story Drakken had told her. She rolled her eyes and huffed.
"Fine... I will not use my powers as persuasion for silence," said Shego as she looked at her nails with a bored expression, "But that takes the whole fun out of it."
"I know its your favorite hobby," smirked Drakken. He looked at the dance floor, "Shego... how about a dance?"
She looked away from her nails and looked up closer at Drakken before following his gaze. The music was slowing down to a slower haunting ballad. His hand was held out towards her and she internally scoffed at herself for thinking about her spot in line or even hesitating before she took his hand. The lights has become less dramatic in their shifting as the slow music played, it was tolerable than it had recently been. The table annoyance completely forgotten as he moved to take her other hand while the one that had held her hand fell on her waist.
"This is better than waiting in line, I guess," she sighed. She watched his eyes roll at her teasing, "
"So are you going to tell me what I did to irritate you in less than fifteen minutes of being here?" asked Drakken as they moved to the music.
"Nah, this makes up for it," shrugged Shego. She smoothed out the shoulder of his coat, "You know I like this coat, a lot."
His curious expression turned to a hint of deviousness.
"That's why I wore it," said Drakken. Shego tilted her head, "You know how much I favor that dress."
"Really?" she teased, "I should have worn something else then."
He snorted and it was a few beats of silence before she felt his hand hesitate to move up her back to shift them closer. It was annoying how hard it was for her not to say something snarky about him attempting to be subtle. With a glance around them she couldn't help but wonder if it was their environment... back at the lair her snarky retorts and sass she had better control over when they were having a more intimate moment... but her mind raced to upstairs when she had kept talking even. It was a thought to consider later, as Drakken had started talking.
"So, worst costume so far now?" asked Drakken as he looked around the dance floor.
"Excluding SheNo and Dr. Thrifting over there?" Shego nodded in the direction of their table.
"Oh they're the clear winners," stated Drakken, "But we should find second and third place."
"I can't believe either of them thought that was okay," sighed Shego, "I'm re-evaluating my friend circle."
"At least yours looks original and not cheap... but unfortunately she is giving me flashback to the Underground visit I'd rather not have," she watched Drakken's face become one of disgust.
"Yeah that's always nightmare fuel," snorted Shego. She rested her head against him and looked around, "Is that supposed to be a unicorn?"
She felt Drakken's head shift to look where she was.
"Its definitely a horse but that horn is in the wrong place," he heard Drakken cringed voice.
Shego found herself silently engrossed in listening to Drakken's breathing as they slowly moved across the floor, Drakken pointing out costume after costume. She was about to comment on where he'd pointed out someone dressed like a very inappropriate rabbit when she noticed something she'd vaguely registered. As they'd spun slowly around the dance floor, she'd seen various costumes and people, but something suddenly stood out. There was a figure on the outskirts of the dance floor, she couldn't see through the lights but whoever it was had moved with them and there arm looked to be in a sling.
There was a sense of panic racing through her as she looked passed everyone and towards the figure, trying to make out a face, to see if they were staring at them or if it was simply someone being creepy. Her mind radiated with reasoning's and a slew of chastising at letting herself get worked up at possibly nothing. She kept her eyes on the figure and tugged on Drakken's shoulder attempting to get his attention from where he was narrating someone dancing horribly not far from them.
"Is that even dancing- Yes?" he asked.
"Can you see the figure passed the light," Shego whispered.
"What?" asked Drakken. Clearly she'd whispered lower than he could hear over the music.
"Can you-"
She was cut off by an accented and slightly intoxicated voice.
"Look who has come out of hiding?" boomed Dementor as he and the person he was dancing with invaded their personal space, "Come out of your ivory tower now have you."
"Dementor," groaned Drakken, "Long time no see... too soon if you ask me."
Shego moved slightly away from Drakken to glare at Dementor, as when she'd looked towards the figure... they were gone. Her nerves still were on edge, but slowly she began dismissing her paranoia. Instead focusing her nerves on their dancing being interrupted by Dementor.
"What did you want?" sighed Shego, "We're dancing here."
"Ah, I can see I interrupted a little more than that," smirked Dementor, "I will let you two continue."
Dementor moved away but the song had come to an end and the mood felt soured. Shego pulled away from Drakken and they both moved off the dance floor and back towards the bar.
"How irritating," snarled Drakken, "Who does that?... Nghn, you were saying something?"
"Nevermind," sighed Shego, "Look the lines settled down."
"You said something about a figure?" asked Drakken. He looked back towards the dance floor, "Shego?"
"What are you getting?" asked Shego. Choosing to change topic, "Please don't say Peppermint Patty."
"I think I'll just get a glass of Cocoa Moo," sighed Drakken. Shego shook her head, "I'll order it, don't worry."
"Well, if your going to do that... maybe a shot of tequila-"
"Given the track record... I'd suggest not," Drakken cut in. He sounded hesitant but concerned.
"You're probably right," snorted Shego, "Last time I drank that my powers decided to ruin a great kiss."
"Ehg, that's nice," she heard Drakken mutter. Shego rolled her eyes.
"It was with you, you dolt," Shego snorted, "New Years? I know you remember."
"Oh," she looked to see a smirk slowly spread across his face, "That was a great kiss?"
"I had no complaints," shrugged Shego as she glanced towards the pillar in question, "Ever wonder about what might have happened had my powers not acted up?"
"Yes," Drakken answered before Shego could barely finish the question.
Shego looked up at Drakken and smirked.
"Really? Do tell," she moved closer towards him, "Where would that kiss have led."
She watched as Drakken's face slightly flushed at her inquiry, but his expression remained mildly smug.
"There were a series of routes it could have led," he suggested, "I- ahem- not sure which one was most likely."
"Hmm," Shego watched his skin darken and closed a little more distance between them, "Maybe I should have that tequila and get you a Peppermint Patty and we can test those scenarios you have."
It was a flirty suggestion as her hand found his cheek. His eyes fixed on hers and she could see him processing her words and their meaning. She was just about to move away from him and talk about something else when his hands found her waist and she was spun around so her back faced the pillar. It was her turn to feel her face flush slightly as they moved further back. The blush had faded from Drakken's face as his smirk grew more confident.
"I don't think the drinks are needed to fix a kiss," said Drakken.
"This is already going better than the last time," hummed Shego.
She slid her arm around his neck and placed the other on his chest. Drakken's hands slid further down her waist as he went to close the gab between them. Their near kiss ended abruptly at the sound of a click and bright flash from around Shego pulled their attention. Motor Ed stood up from a crouched position dressed in an elaborate attire and makeup that made him look as if he'd stepped off a hard rock album from the eighties. The camera in his hand was swiftly tossed over his shoulder.
"Don't mind me you two, seriously. Carry on," he grinned.
"What was that? Why did you take a photo," snapped Drakken, "Eddie, what are you up to!?"
"No idea what you're talking about Cuz, calm down," Ed put up his hand in defense.
"Eddie!" snapped Drakken.
Shego didn't even have time to threaten Ed as Drakken had pulled away from her in pursuit of his cousin. She let out a sighed and crossed her arms as she looked at the table where they were to sit. Killigan glaring off towards where Ed and Drakken had gone too and putting drinks down on the table. Her eyes drifted to where Lucre shook his head slowly while Adrena snickered and then too the person currently holding the camera.
"Cleopatra?" Shego gestured to the women's elaborate pharaoh attire.
"Naturally," smiled Cleopatra, "It's nice to see- Gah!"
Shego blasted the camera in her hand which fell to the ground in a heap of melted pieces.
"A little warning would have been nice," glared Cleopatra.
"That was a warning," replied Shego.
With an annoyed sigh she found her seat again and watched as Drakken and Ed argued in the distance.
This is going to be a long night.
Oh yes indeed... it has ONLY just begun!
