Luna POV
I watched as Usagi slept; her little arm in a pink cast. I shouldn't have gotten angry at her. How could I honestly tell her that she wasn't Serenity? That is who she was in her previous life. Who she still is. I was just made her mother in this life. But if she ever remembers, she'll probably see me in a different light. After all, all I am is her mother's advisor. That's all I ever will be...
I sighed as I walked into my bedroom. Leaning against the door, I gazed out the window.
Luna...
"Queen?"
Right before my eyes, I saw her materialize into her former form. I gulped as I saw the look on her face. "Luna."
"Y-Yes, my queen?"
"I am very disappointed in you. How could you treat Serenity like that? She is just a mere child."
"I did not mean for it to come out like that."
Her eyes hardened. "Do not forget that she is my daughter and your future queen."
I scoffed. "I do not mean to be rude in any way, your majesty. But you made me her mother in this life."
"Luna, do not overstep your boundaries here. I made you her mother because I know that I can trust you. Or can I not?"
"Have I ever shown to be distrustful?"
"No you have not but we are no longer in our kingdom. Remember that."
"I am reminded of that every day."
"Luna, I do not wish to argue with you. However, I must ensure you understand your place."
My place? This isn't our kingdom anymore. Just like she had said. I don't understand how she thinks she has any say in any of this. She should understand where I am coming from. Usagi was born from my womb. She is, in some ways, my daughter. As her mother, I will be protective over her. It's not like she cared for her child as much as I have in the past.
"I understand-"
Queen Serenity cut me off. Her glare sent chills down my spine. "I do not think you do. We would not be in this situation had it not been for your words against my child." She got close to me. "I am warning you. One more incident like this and I will make sure that you lose everything."
And then she was gone. I grasped at my chest. Was it possible that she read my thoughts? Something in her changed almost right after. No. No. There is no way that she is able to do that. She was never able to do that in her past life. Oh. What am I thinking about? She isn't a bad person. She loves her daughter to the point that she sacrificed her own life. I should remember that. We wouldn't be here if it wasn't for her.
~The Next Day~
"Mama! Are you watching me, Mama!" Usagi screamed as she swung on the swings.
I smiled. "Make sure to be careful, dear. Mamoru, keep an eye on her."
"I will, Luna Mama!"
These kids had so much energy this morning; I had to bring them to the park to let them exhaust themselves. Usagi seemed to have forgotten what happened last night. She didn't mention it or even react to my questions this morning. Did the Queen have anything to do with that?
"Luna!"
I looked up to see Artemis walking up with Minako. "Ms.Luna! Hello!"
"Hello, Minako-chan. How are you doing today?"
"I'm good! Can I go play with Usagi and Mamoru?"
"Of course, dear."
I smiled as she ran over to the kids and started playing with them. "She has a lot of energy today."
Artemis sighed in relief as he sat down next to me. "I have no clue why today of all days she chose to be this energetic."
The three of them are energetic. No, they're just kids. This has nothing to do with the queen. There's no way it could be.
"Minako's mother should be here soon."
Her mother?
"O-oh. I didn't know you were married. Oh! N-Not that I assumed you were single. Oh dear. What am I rambling about?"
This man will probably think I'm insane.
Artemis smiled. "Luna, it's OK. You can ask questions if you'd like."
Or maybe not.
"And for the record, her mother and I aren't married or together."
That's good to know. Ugh! These thoughts need to get out of my head. Get out. Get out. Get out. Get out.
"Mina-chan."
"Mama!"
Minako rushed over to a woman wearing designer clothes. I couldn't see her face; the hat was covering it. Leave it to Artemis to find a woman like this. What am I saying? We are not together anymore.
"And here we go." Artemis sighed.
"Hello, Artemis. Who's this?"
That voice…..
"This is Luna. Luna, this is Minako's mother….."
