Ah, Ash vs. Alain. Time for the last battle of the story.
Made a couple of adjustments to Alain's team based on my own personal preferences, but hopefully you'll still enjoy!
Ash sat alone in a locker room situated in the tunnel to the battlefield of Wyndon Stadium, Pikachu once again been dropped off with Dawn and company to spectate the match. Taking a deep breath, he thought to himself, Alright, this is it. Your last match in the round robin, and it's a rematch from the Kalos League. Getting up from the bench, Ash took a look at the six Poké Balls on his belt and exited the locker room, hearing the cheers of the crowd as the announcer introduced Alain onto the battlefield.
This time will finally be a normal match. No weird Bond Phenomenon shenanigans, no Team Fl- no no, don't even think about that. Don't. Even. THINK. About. Them. Today will be a perfectly ordinary and fun battle.
Ash was snapped out of his stupor upon hearing the announcer begin, "And now, from Pallet Town... the first Champion of Alola, ASH KETCHUM!"
Stepping out of the tunnel, Ash quickly scanned the crowd for his friends, ignoring the wild ovation he had received from the masses. Ash first flashed a peace sign towards Angie—and the Rockets, by extent—before turning to the other side of the stadium and waving towards Pikachu and his traveling companions, blushing when he spotted Serena giving him a wink. On the other side of the field, Ash spotted Alain keeping a lookout in the crowd for someone—Mairin, presumably—and then waving once he saw his person of interest.
Putting his focus back on his opponent, Alain called out, "Hey Ash, you ready for this?"
Ash flashed a toothy grin Alain's way as he unclipped a Poké Ball, replying, "You betcha! Wanna start now?" Across the field, Alain nodded, and the referee quickly flew in on his Aegislash to lay down the rules.
"The following Full Battle between Ash Ketchum and Alain Kenshi will commence shortly! As with all previous Full Battles in this round robin, this will be a six-on-six bout with no time limit, and both challengers are free to make as many substitutions as they wish. The first Trainer to lose six Pokémon loses. Additionally, unless both competitors mutually agree to different conditions, they will be allowed to use one of either Mega Evolution, Dynamax, or a Z-Move." Looking towards Alain, the referee asked, "Mr. Kenshi, I presume your choice of a special battle feature will be Mega Evolution as it has been for every other round robin match you've had?" Alain nodded, and the referee turned to Ash, asking, "What about you, Mr. Ketchum?"
"Does my Greninja count?"
"I beg your pardon?" On cue, Ash sent out Greninja, the Ninja Pokémon quickly shifting to his Ash-Greninja form and looking up at the referee with his arms folded. Recognition dawned on the referee's face as he said, "Ah, it's that Greninja from the Kalos League... allow me to consult the rulebook for a second, Mr. Ketchum," pulling out a small brown handbook and furiously riffing through it. After a few minutes, he closed the rulebook and answered, "Well, there's nothing in the rulebook about your Greninja's... Bond Phenomenon, was it?" Ash nodded, and the referee continued, "I guess for this match we'll say you're using a Mega Evolution, but that won't be the case for future matches."
Ash and Greninja exchanged glances before shrugging and bumping forearms with each other, the latter reverting to his regular form as Ash recalled him. "Sounds like a plan."
Waving his flags down, the referee said, "Challengers, send out your first Pokémon!"
"Ready up, Weavile!"
"Houndoom, I choose you!"
The two Dark-types emerged onto the field, Weavile absently sharpening the claws on his left hand while using the claws on his right to comb through his fur, while Houndoom howled, breathing out a stream of fire before turning back to Ash and giving him an affectionate lick.
Chuckling, Ash said, "Alright Houndoom, I know you're happy to see me again, but we've got a battle to win right now, can you save it for later?" Houndoom happily barked and nodded, before slowly prowling back onto the field, his demeanor changing as he put his focus back onto Weavile.
The referee, upon waving his flags downwards, said, "Battle begin!"
Clenching a fist, Alain began things by commanding, "Weavile, use Triple Axel!"
Weavile disappeared in a flash before reappearing in front of Houndoom, his feet glowing pale blue as he performed a roundhouse kick. Houndoom shook it off before clawing at Weavile's face, distracting the Ice-type long enough for Houndoom to swipe at him with his tail. Fire quickly built up in Houndoom's mouth, and he released it in the form of Flamethrower, Weavile getting clear as the jet of flame rocketed past him.
Alain chopped a hand downwards. "Brick Break!"
Weavile's claws glowed crimson as he quickly closed the distance between himself and Houndoom, the Dark Pokémon bounding away from Weavile and firing another Flamethrower to keep him at bay. Rolling out of the way, Weavile ran towards Houndoom before swinging his hand downward towards the canine's head. However, Houndoom jerked his head away from Weavile's oncoming Brick Break before clamping down onto the Ice-type's arm. Glaring up at Weavile, Houndoom's mouth began to fill with fire once again, and a panicked Weavile used his other hand to hit Houndoom in the nose with Brick Break, disorienting him and allowing Weavile to retreat. Examining the singed fur on his arm, Weavile quietly snarled and used Swords Dance, his body glowing red as the afterimages of crimson blades danced around him.
Ash recalled Houndoom, saying to his Fire-type, "Come back for now, Houndoom." Unclipping another Poké Ball as he put Houndoom's back, Ash threw his next Poké Ball out onto the field, calling out, "Alright Muk, I choose you!"
The Poison-type splattered onto the field, pulling himself together before waving at Alain and Weavile, gurgling out a thick, "Hello."
"Muk, use Rain Dance!" Nodding, Muk glowed a deep blue as he swayed his body from side to side, generating a thick cloud above Wyndon Stadium. Weavile stared in confusion for a moment before charging in, his tail feathers glowing with a silver sheen as the rain began to fall. Once he had closed the distance—with relatively little effort, as Muk had not budged—Weavile swung his Iron Tail, nailing Muk right in his... body, for lack of a better word.
However, when Weavile tried to pull himself out, he found that he couldn't, Muk's slimy body clinging onto his arms and legs. Muk then proceeded to pitch forward, burying most of Weavile's body underneath himself.
"Toxic! Aim for the raincloud!"
Tilting his head upward, Muk fired three deep purple globs of poison into the sky, the raincloud turning an ugly purple as Toxic vanished into it.
For a moment, the rain stopped.
Weavile broke free by hitting Muk with a Water Pulse in between the eyes, scrambling to his feet and wiping the sludge off his body, the detritus making its way back to Muk and rejoining his body. Disgusted, Weavile muttered, "That is nasty..." before wincing as the rain began to fall again. "Ow! Why does the rain hurt now-" Weavile looked back up and deadpanned, "You're kidding."
The concoction of Toxic and Rain Dance had created an incredibly potent acidic downpour, the rain splashing down onto the battlefield and forming puddles of poison everywhere. Muk proceeded to drag himself across the battlefield, unaffected by the poisonous rain, and brought a fist crackling with electricity down on Weavile, the impact launching Weavile across the field. As the Ice-type staggered to his feet, he suddenly fell to one knee, the acid rain having badly poisoned him.
Gritting his teeth, Alain recalled Weavile, and threw his second Poké Ball onto the field. "Metagross, this is all you!"
Alain's Metagross materialized on the field, wincing as the rain splashed on it, but showing no ill effects otherwise. Metagross' eyes moved, looking all over the field before zeroing in on Muk and narrowing themselves. Master Alain, requesting suggested battle approach for this opponent.
Within the skybox, Diantha and the other participants of the Masters Eight watched as Alain pondered his next move. A hand on her chin, she muttered, "That acid rain trick seems pretty interesting..." Turning towards her Gardevoir, Diantha asked, "Maybe we can have Siebold and Drasna test out these strategies before next year's Kalos League?"
I have my reservations, but it wouldn't hurt to give it a look. Maybe we can also test it with Goodra? See how it interacts with Hydration?
"Good idea!" Diantha exclaimed as she clapped her hands together.
Steven stood alone in one corner of the room, absently swirling around an almost-empty glass as he commented, "What I'm more amazed by is the fact that Alain's Metagross actually seems to be affected by this acid rain..." With a shrug, he finished the rest of his drink in one go and said, "Perhaps I'll ask Ash when we're done for today."
"Don't forget that we still need to ask Ash and Alain about... you know, tonight," Cynthia interjected, cutting herself a small slice of cake from her plate and eating it. Turning to Diantha, she asked, "Whose idea was it, anyways?"
"Leon's," Diantha answered. "Said he wanted to get us together for a little celebration before the actual bracket started." Next to her, Cynthia nodded in approval and turned her attention back to the match.
"Uh... overwhelm him!"
Affirmative. Activating wallbreaker protocol. Metagross took flight, its eyes glowing blue as he used Psychic. Muk was squashed down onto the ground, and Metagross' eyes flitted around erratically, slowly disassembling Muk bit by bit, until what remained was a much tinier Muk, surrounded by what was supposed to be his body. Eyes narrowing, one of Metagross' legs began to glow a brilliant silver, and it raised it up, preparing to bring down a Meteor Mash on top of Muk.
However, Muk dodged, jumping onto one of the many split pieces of his body and growing bigger in size. As Metagross brought down another Meteor Mash, Muk hopped to another part of his scattered body, repeating the process until he had regained his original mass. Muk noticed that the acid rain he had called down was coming to a stop, and that Metagross' body was smoking from their exposure to the acidic rain. Muk's left hand glowed with a crimson flame as he brought it down upon Metagross, the Fire Punch pushing Metagross back, but not burning him.
"Hm... Metagross, tear him apart with Psychic again, but use Earthquake afterwards instead!"
Affirmative, Metagross said, reducing Muk to bits with Psychic before stomping on the ground with his front legs, creating a seismic effect that heavily rattled the now-tiny Muk. Once the shaking subsided, Muk's body came together once more, the Sludge Pokémon deflating from exhaustion and letting out a final groan.
"Muk is unable to battle, the winner of this bout is Metagross!"
Ash recalled Muk to his Poké Ball, whispering, "You did good out there Muk, I'll make sure your work pays off," as he clipped the Poison-type's capsule back onto his belt. Watching as Muk's icon on the big display went dark, Ash threw the next Poké Ball onto the field, saying, "Staraptor, I choose you!" As the Flying-type emerged from his Poké Ball and took flight, Ash immediately commanded, "Sunny Day!"
Staraptor spread his wings as he glowed a brilliant orange, the sun blazing even hotter than usual over the battlefield.
Alain took out Metagross' Poké Ball, realizing, He's going to try and wear Metagross down with Heat Wave. Pointing the capsule towards the Steel-type, Alain said, "Metagross, come ba-"
"Pursuit!"
Staraptor dove to the ground with surprising speed, his talons glowing purple and crackling with black lightning as he clawed at Metagross' face, blocking the recall beam with his own wing long enough for Pursuit to hit its mark. Once Metagross was staggered, Staraptor lifted his wing, and Metagross was called back into its Poké Ball.
"I really should've seen that coming," Alain mused to himself. "No matter though!" Taking out another Poké Ball, Alain threw it out onto the battlefield, calling out, "Take to the skies, Braviary!"
The Valiant Pokémon emerged from his Poké Ball with a screech, locking eyes with Staraptor and leering in his direction, which the opposing Flying-type returned with an equal amount of disdain.
As Staraptor and Braviary circled in the air, the referee waved both flags down, signifying that the match had begun.
Braviary started things by lunging at Staraptor's face with Metal Claw. Staraptor blocked the attack with Steel Wing before retreating and furiously flapping his wings as they glowed orange, a wave of fire bearing down on Braviary, who, after momentarily struggling against the Heat Wave, forcefully flapped his wings once, using Defog to dispel Staraptor's Fire-type attack. Taking advantage of the opportunity presented to him, Staraptor flew straight at Braviary, tackling him with Double-Edge. Though Braviary was actually staggered by the hit, Staraptor winced as the recoil effect kicked in, white lightning crackling all over his body.
Shaking his head, Braviary shrieked and flapped his wings, causing rocks to materialize out of thin air high above and begin falling. Staraptor began to fly his way through Braviary's Rock Slide, smashing any rocks that he couldn't dodge with Close Combat. As Staraptor got closer, Braviary steeled himself—literally, by using Metal Claw—carefully monitoring Staraptor's flight pattern in the maelstrom of rocks.
Staraptor smashed a couple of oncoming boulders with a downward swing of his wings and attempted to strike Braviary with another Double-Edge run, but that was stopped cold with a Dual Wingbeat from Braviary, the Valiant Pokémon chopping down on Staraptor's head twice, causing him to unsteadily hover in the air as he attempted to regain his bearings.
Instead of immediately attacking, however, Braviary's body surrounded itself with a red aura, the Valiant Pokémon using Bulk Up as a contingency plan. Once he was done using Bulk Up, Braviary flew towards Staraptor and clutched onto his shoulders with his talons. Giving a wicked grin, Braviary's talons glowed bright red as he used Crush Claw, fiercely tightening his grip on Staraptor and causing the Predator Pokémon to shriek in agony.
Once he was done using Crush Claw, Braviary dove down towards the ground, Staraptor still in his clutches. At the last second, Braviary let go, dropping Staraptor onto the arena floor with Sky Drop before rising back up into the sky.
Pushing himself back up to his feet, Staraptor took off as Alain called, "Braviary, use Superpower!"
"Staraptor, come back for now!" Ash recalled a somewhat reluctant Staraptor back into his Poké Ball and tossed another onto the field. "Gigalith, come on out!"
The Rock-type came out and immediately braced herself as Braviary bore down on her with Superpower, slamming her with a dual strike from his beefed-up wings. Weathering the hit with relatively little trouble, Gigalith stared right back at Braviary as the crystals all over her body began to glow. As Braviary retreated higher into the sky, Gigalith used Power Gem, firing bright orange lasers from each of her crystalline growths.
Being a good bit slower than the average avian, Braviary had trouble dodging some of the lasers, but managed to come through Gigalith's attack decently. Growling, his talons flashed with a silvery sheen as he dove down, raking a Metal Claw along Gigalith's body. However, Gigalith was prepared, and pinned one of his talons in between one of her legs and her body as he struck, the Valiant Pokémon fruitlessly struggling in her grasp. The main crystal on her forehead flashed as it turned metallic, and Gigalith double tapped Braviary with Iron Head, the first hit irritating the Flying-type while the second one nailed him right in the head, causing him to flop onto the floor in a daze. Satisfied, Gigalith turned to Ash and pointed her free foreleg towards Staraptor's Poké Ball.
"Alright Gigalith, you're the boss," Ash said with a grin, recalling the Rock-type to her Poké Ball and then throwing Staraptor's back onto the field, the Predator Pokémon spreading his wings with a caw. Flapping his wings, Staraptor watched as Braviary unsteadily pulled himself to his feet and clumsily took flight, appearing to be slightly punch-drunk as he flew back up to Staraptor's altitude. Taking advantage of Braviary's disoriented state, Staraptor quickly circled behind Braviary and began battering him with Close Combat, Braviary wincing as Staraptor beat on him with his wings and scratched at him with his talons.
Watching as Staraptor then began to carry Braviary high into the air, Ash was suddenly struck with an idea. "Staraptor, finish him off! Throw him into the air and then piledrive him with Brave Bird!"
With a forceful flick of his talons, Staraptor flung Braviary high into the air, using Heat Wave to propel him even higher. Once he was done, Staraptor muttered, "I've got you now," as he began to chase after Braviary, his a red aura flaring to life around his body. Once Braviary reached the apex of Staraptor's throw, the Predator Pokémon quickly flew above him and then tackled him, driving him downwards as the red aura suddenly flashed and changed to a bright blue, leaving behind a trail that resembled a meteor descending through the sky. After a few more seconds, both Pokémon smashed into the ground, throwing up a massive plume of dust and spraying chunks of rubble which Ash and Alain shielded themselves from.
When the smoke cleared, it was revealed that Braviary was in no shape to battle, and Staraptor, even though he was standing, did not look much better. Staraptor winced as his body crackled with pale blue lightning and almost keeled over, but managed to keep himself standing through sheer guts.
"Braviary is unable to battle, the winner is Staraptor!"
"Alright Staraptor, that's one on the board, way to go!"
Smiling, Staraptor tiredly preened his chest feathers as Alain recalled his Braviary.
"Good effort, Braviary," Alain muttered as he clipped his Poké Ball back onto his belt. Unclipping Metagross' capsule, Alain threw it back onto the field, the Steel-type stomping its legs on the ground.
Scanning new opponent. Combatant identified: Staraptor. Master Alain, requesting suggested combat approach for this new opponent.
Alain watched as Staraptor's wings glowed orange and said, "Pin him to the ground with Psychic!"
Affirmative. Immobilizing target with psychokinesis. Metagross' eyes glowed blue, and Staraptor let out a startled squawk as he was driven into the floor. Taking off, Metagross tucked its legs into its body and hovered over towards Staraptor, its eyes still glowing blue. Once it was close enough, Metagross landed on the ground, pinning Staraptor's wings to the floor with his forelegs.
"Earthquake!"
Metagross stomped the ground with its rear legs, the earth trembling underneath it and Staraptor. Though both were affected by the move, Staraptor seemed to be shaken up worse by it, by virtue of Metagross pinning him to the ground. Once the ground stopped trembling, Metagross sucker punched Staraptor with Meteor Mash, catapulting Staraptor across the field. As his Flying-type struggled to his feet with assistance from his wings, Ash muttered, "That didn't look good..." before taking out Staraptor's Poké Ball and returning him, continuing, "Alright Staraptor, come back for now!"
Ash proceeded to unveil his fifth Pokémon of the match—meaning that he had ended up revealing his entire roster of Pokémon—by throwing their capsule out onto the field. "Heracross, you're up!"
The blue Bug-type landed on the field in a three-point stance, before standing upright and adjusting into a fighting stance.
Requesting new directives, Master Alain.
"Keep that Heracross at bay, Metagross! Its power is beyond that of even some Legendaries!"
Affirmative-
Ash tilted his head in confusion and interrupted with, "You watched my Sinnoh League run?"
"Well... I only watched the matches after that Sinnoh League's conclusion, but they were still really damn good all the same," Alain replied. "Anyways, Metagross, keep him out of your space! Rock Slide!"
Affirmative. Engaging keepaway protocol. Metagross smashed one of its forelegs into the ground, unearthing a maelstrom of boulders. Using Psychic, it flung a volley towards Heracross, who hunkered down and began using Arm Thrust to destroy Metagross' Rock Slide.
"Now! Straight ahead, Metagross!"
Affirmative, Metagross said, punching one particulary large boulder in a straight path towards Heracross, the Single Horn Pokémon simply opting to brace himself as the rock smashed right into him, pushing him across the field.
Gritting his teeth in frustration, Ash said, "Force your way through with Pin Missile and Rock Blast!"
"On it!" Heracross promptly took flight... and was stopped cold, caught in a blue aura as Metagross used Psychic, its eyes glowing the same color. Before Metagross could slam him into the floor, however, Heracross pointed one of his arms in Metagross' direction and used Pin Missile, a smattering of dull green needles nailing Metagross right in its eyes, causing it to grunt in pain and lose control over its Psychic. Heracross fell to the ground, but spread his wings to slow his fall. Once he had regained his bearings, Heracross quickly closed the distance between himself and Metagross and began to beat on the Steel-type with Arm Thrust, pushing him with such strength that Metagross was slowly beginning to be driven into the ground.
"Pikachu seems really familiar with that Metagross," Chloe observed, noticing that Ash's Pokémon was watching the match with heavy interest.
"Of course, Pikachu fought and beat this Metagross two years ago!" Serena replied. Giggling as Pikachu puffed out his chest with pride, she scooped the Mouse Pokémon into her arms and began playfully ruffling his fur. As Pikachu squealed with delight, Serena mused, "I wonder if Alain still kept that Tyranitar of his for this match though, so far his Metagross, Weavile, and Charizard-"
"But he hasn't used his Charizard yet-"
"Alain's used his Charizard in every match, Chloe," Dawn interrupted. "There's no reason to assume he wouldn't use him against Ash." Turning to Serena, she asked, "Would he keep his Tyranitar for this match, though? Pikachu trounced him in the Kalos League finals."
"Pika!" Pikachu pridefully flicked his nose and smirked.
Chuckling, Serena playfully pinched at Pikachu's face and said, "Don't get a big head all of a sudden, Pikachu..."
Once Metagross' legs were buried halfway into the floor, Heracross wound up and punched the ground, the arena shaking as his Earthquake rippled throughout the floor. As Metagross was violently rocked, by virtue of being in the earth instead of on it, Heracross' fists, legs, and horn began to glow a bright orange. With a battle cry, Heracross used Close Combat, violently whaling on Metagross and even causing some dents as he punched, kicked, and bludgeoned the Steel-type.
Heracross' assault was brought to a stop by Metagross hurriedly flinging him backwards with Psychic. Heracross pushed himself back up immediately and began flying towards Metagross, his horn glowing a dull green as Metagross dug its hind legs into the ground. As Heracross came closer, Metagross swung its right arm back and then released it as Heracross slammed into him with Megahorn, slugging the Bug-type with Ice Punch at the same time.
Noticing the telltale signs of freezing manifesting on Heracross' body as he flew across the field, Alain said, "Alright Metagross, switch tactics, get in close and put him on ice!"
Query, Master Alain: what does it mean to 'put somebody on ice?'
Sighing, Alain facepalmed and said, "Just freeze him solid with Ice Punch."
Affirmative. Preparing Ice Punches.
As Heracross pushed himself back up to his feet, he noticed that ice was building up around his legs, nailing him to the ground. Metagross capitalized on this, flying towards Heracross and peppering him with a flurry of Ice Punches which applied more ice patches along Heracross' body. Before Metagross could freeze him completely, Heracross simply smirked and spat a single rock at Metagross' face as he was nailed with an Ice Punch hook.
Alain analyzed the situation with some uncertainty; Heracross was definitely frozen solid, yet Ash didn't seem to panic or call for anything, instead staring right at Heracross patiently. After a moment, Alain wondered, Wait, how exactly did he defeat that Darkrai again? before noticing that Heracross' eyes were moving around in the ice before fixing themselves right on Metagross. Alain watched as a red aura flared to life around Heracross, that same aura slowly beginning to melt the ice around him, and he muttered, "Oh, right..."
The Single Horn Pokémon smashed his way through the ice once it had melted enough, and he looked around wildly, overtaken by anger as he fixed his gaze on Metagross, growling, "Hera..." Once again, he punched the ground, causing the arena to heave even harder than before. As Metagross staggered from the Earthquake, Heracross, still surrounded by that glowing red aura, closed the distance between himself and Metagross and nailed him with a second, stronger Megahorn. Though Metagross tried to cushion the blow by catching Heracross' horn with its forelegs, Heracross, with no wasted motion, simply lifted him upwards and, with a single flick, sent him careening into the arena wall.
Metagross stumbled out of the indent he had made, his voice wildly changing in pitch as he said, Systems temporarily compromised. Engaging sleep mode...
Metagross' eyes then finally went dim, and the referee ruled, "Metagross is unable to battle, Heracross is the winner of this bout!"
As the crowd cheered, Cynthia commented, "That's an interesting interaction with Guts. Never seen how a freeze would've triggered it before today," before taking a bite out of a sandwich and quickly swallowing it. "It seems that history repeats itself," she mused in amusement.
"You've placed an awful lot of confidence in Ash throughout this entire round robin, why is that, Cynthia?" Steven asked out of genuine curiosity.
"Steven, you and Lance may have known him before me, but I got to know him the best. Even better than Iris, and she traveled with him!"
Behind her, Iris chuckled embarrassedly. "Well, when you put it like that..."
Diantha watched as Alain recalled Metagross and sent in his fifth Pokémon—as everyone knew that Charizard was a guarantee—and remarking, "Ooh, that's a new one..."
Scolipede, upon emerging from his capsule, stood upright and let out a harsh screech before stomping his many legs on the ground and leering down at Heracross.
"Heracross, return!" Ash recalled his Bug-type and immediately sent Houndoom back out onto the field, the canine howling before slowly prowling side-to-side, not taking his eyes off Scolipede.
The referee once again said, "Battle begin!" and waved down his flags.
Houndoom immediately opened things up with a howl, his tail crackling with black lightning as it struck the ground. From where Houndoom stood, a black pulse of energy expanded outward, and a dark, webbed hand emerged from the ground. The shadowy clone of Greninja fully broke out of the ground not long after, being accompanied by similarly dark clones of Heracross, Gigalith, and Muk, though that last clone melted back into a pool of shadow.
Up above, a harsh caw sounded out as a shadowy Staraptor clone swooped downwards to join his four teammates, before ominously circling above Scolipede's head as if he were a Mandibuzz.
With a snarl, Houndoom's paws sparked to life with jet-black flame, and he and the clones he had generated using Beat Up charged right at Scolipede.
Ah, Alain. I was so disappointed in Journeys doing him dirty like that, so I saved his round robin for last to give him a fight I knew I'd enjoy writing after I put Dynamax as the featured gimmick in Lance's battle.
Muk's little acid rain thing at the beginning was the first thing not related to either Greninja or Charizard that came to mind when drafting this battle, and since I didn't see him lasting long with Alain having two Steel-types, I wanted to give Muk a lasting impact on the battle before he went down.
Also... Metagross is a supercomputer, I'd be extremely bothered if it couldn't learn human speech.
Reviews are always appreciated, stay tuned.
