It all started when Haley Dunphy's parents decided to go on a vacation to Hawaii with her and her younger siblings Alex and Luke. It was a vacation that would change Haley's life. After a bit of flying and a short travel to the hotel, Haley and her family unpacked their stuff in their hotel room and went off to the beach the hotel was located at.

Haley proceeded to walk towards the ocean dressed in her two piece black bikini, her brown hair blowing in the wind a bit. As she reached the shoreline, the ocean water proceeded to touch her feet, and Haley couldn't help but smile at that. She looked back at her family. Her parents were enjoying a drink in their beach chairs while her younger sister Alex was just enjoying a good book on a towel. Her younger brother Luke was playing with some of the other kids on the beach.

"This is gonna be an exciting vacation, I just know it..." Haley told herself with a smile before she proceeded to run into the ocean and dove into the water as she began swimming forward. And forward. Until she could no longer touch the ocean floor. Haley then went up for air, and realized she was caught in the ocean current.

Once Haley had reached the surface, she looked around and frowned. "Where am I?" Haley questioned to no one in particular before she dove under the water once again before noticing a small underwater cave. Haley was rather bewildered and swam down to the underwater cave for as long as her lung capacity could carry her. Once she had swam inside the cave, she went up for air, and looked around inside the cave.

The cave was much larger on the inside, and the water inside the cave had a strange pink glow to it. But what really caught Haley's eye was a small treasure chest sitting on a pedestal in the middle of the cave. Haley was once again really bewildered and swam over to the chest before looking inside of it. There was mostly jewelry and a few gemstones inside of the chest, but one piece of jewelry that really stood out to Haley was a pink necklace with a pink clam shell attached to it. The pink clam shell had a pink pearl studded inside of it.

"Oh, wow...What a beautiful necklace..." Haley said in awe as she held the necklace in her hands. She then proceeded to put the necklace around her neck. Suddenly, the pink water inside the cave began glowing an even brighter pink, and Haley was suddenly pulled under the water as she began to transform.

Haley's legs began to merge into one single mass and her feet were replaced by a pair of fins. Bright pink scales began to cover her new tail as it glowed brightly, and her bikini top was replaced by a pink seashell bra. Her lips began to get covered in bright pink lipstick, and her brown hair turned pink and turned into a different style.

Haley then resurfaced inside the cave and gasped for air, flipping around for a bit before seating herself on a rocky surface in the cave. As she did so, she looked down to find that she had turned into a mermaid because of the necklace she had put on. Haley gasped in shock as her eyes widened at the sight of her new tail. It was at least 2 feet longer than her human legs, and it still glowed brightly. She couldn't believe what she saw, and felt a little scared, and decided to leave the cave.

Haley could now breathe underwater, and was able to swim very deep. For the first time in her life, she watched a school of fish swim among the scattered corals, each with a different pattern and color. Haley still couldn't believe that she was a mermaid, and she wondered what she would do about this.

"If I'm going to stay like this for a while, I might as well make the most of it..." Haley sighed before seeing another mermaid swimming in the distance. Her eyes widened as she saw the mermaid. She didn't think that other mermaids would exist down here, but given that she had just transformed into one herself, she figured that other mermaids probably existed as well.

This mermaid in particular had long, flowing red hair, gorgeous blue eyes, a purple seashell bra and a bright green fishtail with a waistband, and she was carrying a brown bag on her shoulder. Next to the mermaid swam a small yellow fish with blue stripes and fins. It looked like they were on their way to some place.

Haley swam up to the mermaid to ask her for help. "Excuse me, can you help me?" She asked the red haired mermaid as she and the small yellow fish turned to her.

"Yes, what is it?" The red haired mermaid asked Haley with a curious tilt of her head.

"You might not believe me, but I'm actually a human turned into a mermaid. I became a mermaid after I put on this necklace." Haley explained to the red haired mermaid as she gestured to the pink necklace, which was still around her neck.

The red haired mermaid and small yellow fish's eyes widened at that, but the red haired mermaid nodded. "I see...Alright. I believe you." She told Haley with a smile.

Haley sighed in relief and nodded. "Alright, good. So, I wanted to ask you: Can you help me?" She asked the red haired mermaid.

The red haired mermaid thought about it. "I'm not exactly sure how I can help you with this predicament, but if you stay close to me, I might be able to get you some shelter down here. For now, just follow me." She told Haley, who nodded as the two mermaids swam off with their yellow fish companion.

"By the way, let me introduce myself. My name is Haley Dunphy. And you are?" Haley asked the red haired mermaid as they swam.

"My name is Ariel, I'm the daughter of King Triton, the ruler of Atlantica. This is my friend, Flounder." The red haired mermaid said, gesturing to the small yellow fish.

"Hello." The small yellow fish waved at Haley, although he remained a bit suspicious of Haley. He spoke in a small child's voice, surprising Haley twice. The first thing that surprised her was that Ariel was a mermaid princess, and the second thing that surprised her was that Flounder could talk. She didn't show this however.

"It's nice to meet you two." Haley replied with a polite smile. "So, where are we going?" She then asked Ariel and Flounder.

"We're going to a shipwreck Flounder found the other day. It's full of stuff from the surface world." Ariel explained to her.

"You like collecting stuff from the surface world?" Haley asked Ariel again.

Ariel nodded. "Yes, I do. Even though I don't even know what most of the stuff is. But fortunately I have a friend from the surface who can identify most of the surface world stuff Flounder and I find." She explained to Haley.

Haley nodded at that. "Well, I'm sure they're a wise individual then." She replied with a polite smile.

"He is! He knows so much about the surface world I don't even know of myself! You're lucky you were born in the surface world and lived there all your life! I'm unlucky enough to be stuck down here as a mermaid and rule the sea..." Ariel frowned a bit at that.

Haley placed a hand on Ariel's shoulder as they swam. "Don't worry about it, Ariel. I'm sure that if we manage to find ourselves a way to turn me back into a human, we can turn you into one as well." She told the mermaid princess with a reassuring smile.

Ariel smiled at Haley when she said that. "Really?! I would love that!" She beamed.

Flounder shook his head at that. "Ooh, bad idea..." He chimed in.

Ariel giggled a little bit as she hugged Flounder. "Oh, cheer up, Flounder! I'm sure the surface world is not that bad!" She told her small fish friend.

"You don't even know what's up there, Ariel!" Flounder retorted.

"You're right, I don't. But maybe Haley here can tell me a bit more about the surface world." Ariel smiled while Flounder just sighed. Haley giggled a little bit as the trio continued to swim towards the shipwreck that Flounder had found.
