Chapter 10 -
"Alright, let's do this." Harry said as he returned to his room after managing to discreetly sell Lockhart's watch in knock turn alley. Harry placed the diary he had 'taken' down on the desk in his room and took out a quill, he dipped it in some ink before writing down in the diary.
'Hello'. Harry wrote but then he paused and thought about what else he should write. It would be a bit cliché and unoriginal yet easier and simpler to write 'Hello Diary' but was he even going to constantly use this?
"What?" Harry said when Loki tugged on his sleeve, pulling him out of his thoughts. Loki gestured to the diary, Harry's eyes widened as he saw what was written on the diary.
Hello, who are you?
"The fuck?" Harry blurted out, Loki made a small combination of noises that Harry had mentally translated as 'you can say that again'. "The fuck? Okay, weird. Screw it, might as well have fun with this. Do you agree Loki?" Loki took a moment before he grinned and began nodding.
'My name is Inigo.' Harry wrote down.
Inigo?
'Inigo Montoya, somebody killed my father, they are preparing die. Anyway enough about me, who are you?' Harry asked, the book took a moment before responding.
My name is Tom, Tom Riddle.
'Riddle me this, the fuck is this diary and the fuck are you?'
This diary is a creation of my own, I was a Hogwarts student and made this diary when I was younger.
'Cool, did you turn into the diary?'
No, it is rather complicated.
'How did you do it?'
It was a very complicated piece of magic, I do apologise, but I do think that it is a bit too advanced for you to learn.
'I do not know about that, I am pretty smart. Ravenclaw and everything. So how did you make this diary?'
Perhaps I will tell you another time, now how
'Yeah, yeah' Harry wrote before the diary could continue producing more words. 'but the diary, how did you do it? Come on, I want to know, do you realise how much fun I could have if I had a diary like this and planted it in somebody's books? How did you do it?'
Like I said, it is a very complicated piece of magic. Perhaps sometime in the future I will tell you how.
'How about now? How did you do it?'
I said in the future.
'Yes and it is about ten seconds since the first time you said it, I count that as the future. Tell me.'
No, I think
'What if I say please?' Harry interrupted.
That will not change my mind.
'Not even if I put a 'pretty' before it? Why don't you want to tell me? Tell me, come on.'
I will tell you another time but...
'I want to know now.'
I SAID ANOTHER TIME!
"Wow." Harry said to Loki. "I have never had a diary snap at me before, that's new, got be a record of some kind."
'Well in that case,' Harry paused for a second before he decided on what to write. 'fuck you then.' Harry said before he slammed the diary close, just as it closed Harry heard a popping sound behind him. He and Loki looked in the direction of the sound and quickly saw Dobby the house elf standing there.
"The great Harry Potter has master's bad book!" Dobby's eyes were wide as he looked at the diary that Harry had left on the desk.
"There is also one other thing I have." Harry said, causing Dobby's eyes to snap towards him.
"What?" Dobby asked.
"A Loki." Harry smirked. Loki jumped off the desk and tackled Dobby to the floor. "Oh shit, I have got to be the announcer." Harry said as the two wrestled on the floor. "Oh and it looks like Loki has the upper hand," Harry said, pretending to be a wrestling announcer. "oh by god, a suplex! Loki is on the offensive, the champ needs to keep up this pace. GOOD GOD! GOOD GOD ALMIGHTY! HE'S KILLING HIM! Oh wait...no he's not. The challenger looks like he is trying to escape but the champ is not letting him create distance."
Dobby tried to get up but Loki pulled on his leg, keeping him down. Loki then jumped forward and wrapped his legs around Dobby's neck and grabbed his ears with his hands.
"Tap out if you want him to let go." Harry told Dobby as he got up from his seat. Dobby quickly slapped his hand repeatedly on the floor, Harry pulled Loki off of Dobby and held him high in the air. "And your reigning world champion...LOKI!" Harry shouted in an impression of a wrestling announcer.
Loki happily grinned and extended his arms out as if to soak up applause, after Loki had consumed a sufficient amount of imaginary applause Harry had placed him on Harry's shoulders.
"Oh...bad Dobby...bad Dobby." Dobby said in a sad voice as he slapped himself repeatedly. "Dobby lost...dangerous monkey...bad Dobby."
"Hey now," Harry said as he leaned down on the floor and patted Dobby on the back. "it's alright." Harry said as Loki hopped off of his shoulder and copied Harry by patting Dobby on the head. "Do not worry about it, Loki is pretty much undefeated. Now...maybe we have got off on the wrong foot, perhaps we should start again. I am Harry Potter, and this is Loki." Harry gestured to Loki. Loki gave a friendly smile to Dobby as he placed one hand behind his back and extended the other for a hand shake.
"F...friends?" Dobby whispered with disbelief. "The great Harry Potter and his Loki want to befriend Dobby?" He said, tears of joy flowed out of his eyes as he grabbed Loki's hand and quickly shook it. "Oh Dobby has never been treated so nice."
"O...kay then." Harry said as he gently grabbed Dobby by the wrist and pulled him off of Loki before the elf could accidently hurt Loki. "Now can we help you with something?"
"The book." Dobby said as he pointed towards it. "It be full of dark magic and..."
"That's why you tried to warn me off of going to Hogwarts, isn't it?" Harry asked.
"Yes great Harry Potter sir, such a clever wizard. The diary belongs to..." Dobby froze and put his hands over his mouth. "Oh bad Dobby!" Dobby said before running head first into a wall.
"Hey what are you doing?!" Harry exclaimed.
"Dobby must punish himself." Dobby replied.
"Well not like that," Harry said, shaking his head. "Loki, you're his friend, help him out." Loki nodded and saluted Harry before he charged at Dobby and tackled him.
"Oof!" Dobby groaned as he landed on the ground. "Thank...ow...you...ow...Loki...ow...monkey...ow!"
"I think that might be enough now Loki." Harry commented. Loki stopped just before he was about to slap Dobby and tilted his head towards Harry as if to ask if he was sure. "Yeah, pretty sure Loki." Harry nodded, Loki nodded in response and helped Dobby up.
"Thank you." Dobby said as he stood up. "Yous is a very kind friends." Dobby said as he patted Loki on the head, Loki smiled in agreement.
"Now why did you have to punish yourself?" Harry asked.
"Dobby almost spoke ill of his master and revealed his masters secrets." Dobby answered.
"Do you like your master?" Harry asked, Dobby did not answer but the little guy definitely looked miserable. "I will take that as a 'no'. Why don't you just leave?"
"Dobby cannot," Dobby shook his head sadly before he pulled on the pillowcase he was wearing. "this is a mark of house elves enslavement, Dobby can only be freed if his master gives him clothes."
"Oh, well that's an easy thing to accomplish." Harry replied. "Just trick him into freeing you."
"How would Dobby do that?" Dobby asked, looking at Harry with wide eyes.
Draco Malfoy sat at his desk inside his room, he had just completed his potions homework. He was positive that Professor Snape would like it, of course he would, Draco was the best of his students after all. And the fact that he was Draco's godfather and had a grudge or general hatred against the non-Slytherin students definitely did not affect the potions master's decisions.
Draco was just about to put his ink away when suddenly a lot of clothes had landed on him.
"What the hell?!" Malfoy blurted out as he pushed all the clothes off of him.
"Draco what is happening?" Narcissa Malfoy, Draco's mother, asked when she arrived in his room but she quickly froze upon seeing the sight in front of her.
"Mother?" Draco asked, wondering why his mother was looking upset. He followed her eyeline and his own eyes widened when he saw that house elf he liked to kick standing there while holding a sock.
"Master has given Dobby a sock! Dobby is free!" The house elf cheered. He had caught the sock just like the great Harry Potter had told him to and now he was free! "Yippee ki yay motherfuckers!" Dobby shouted the phrase that the great Harry Potter told him to say before he popped off.
"Draco what were you thinking?!" Narcissa demanded. "House elves are expensive! If you wanted another elf then we could have swapped this one for another! Why did you set it free?!"
"But I didn't!" Draco cried. "It was an accident!"
"An accident?!"
"It was!"
"Your father will hear about this!"
"Dobby is free!" Dobby cried when he got back and the first thing he did was rush to Harry and wrapped his arms and legs around Harry's leg. "Dobby is a free elf!"
"That's good," Harry said kindly even though he gently pulled Dobby off of his leg due to the fact that Harry was not sure if the elf would start humping his leg. Harry had seen dogs hump owners legs and he was not quite willing to let a house elf do the same to him. "so you were telling me about the diary?" Harry asked.
"Oh yes." Dobby nodded before taking a few minutes to explain everything he knew about the diary.
"Hmm, well that's...nice...so what are you going to do now?" Harry asked.
"Dobby will need somewhere to work." Dobby said, looking at Harry with hopeful eyes.
"Somewhere to work?" Harry raised an eyebrow. "What exactly do you do?"
"Oh Dobby does cleaning and cooking and sewing and fixing and sorting and..."
"I get it," Harry cut him off. "just give me and Loki a minute." Harry said before he grabbed Loki and took him to the corner of the room. He and Loki began whispering to each other for several minutes with Loki doing a variety of hand gestures. "Alright," Harry said to Dobby after a few minutes. "if you need a place to work then I guess me and Loki could help."
"Really?!" Dobby blurted out, looking like all of his dreams had just come true.
"Wait...I don't have to pay you do I?" Harry frowned. "Because I am pretty sure that house elves do not get paid, because I read about you guys and..."
"Dobby doesn't need pay." Dobby said quickly, would he have liked pay? Yes. But not as much a the opportunity to work for the great Harry Potter sir.
"Okay then, you can be my elf and..." Harry was interrupted by Dobby rushing forward and hugging his leg. "...I take it that you accept." Harry said in a dry voice.
"Oh yes, yes! Dobby accepts! Yes!" Dobby cried with joy.
"Loki, if he starts humping then you start swinging." Harry whispered to Loki who nodded in a way that said that would be exactly what would happen if Dobby started humping.
"Hiya Harry." Harry heard someone call when he and Loki arrived on the platform on the day he had to go back to Hogwarts. Harry was currently dressed in blue trainers, along with blue jeans and a black hoodie with the 'Superman' logo on his chest, plus on his right hand he wore the ring he got from Christmas. Loki was sat on his shoulder while wearing his favourite Ravenclaw shirt that Lisa had given him.
"Hey Liz." Harry smiled at her as she arrived. Lisa was currently wearing black shoes, a black skirt that ended at her knees, a blue blouse, the same ring as Harry and the necklace that Harry had gotten her for Christmas. She had also done her hair up in a simple ponytail. "How are you? You're looking great."
"Thanks," Lisa smiled back. "you too, Superman?" She asked as she gestured to Harry's hoodie.
"I flipped a coin today, if it landed on heads then I would have worn a 'Batman' hoodie." Harry shrugged.
"Lisa." A voice called, Lisa let out a small but barely heard groan.
Harry watched as two people approached him and Lisa. The first was a tall man with broad shoulders, combed blonde hair and dressed in a fancy blue suit that screamed rich. Next to him was a black haired woman who had her hair in a bun and was dressed in a white dress and black coat that also screamed rich.
"And who is this?" The man sniffed, looking down on Harry.
"Harry, meet my parents." Lisa said, beginning the introductions. "Richard and Edith Swan."
"Oh, nice to meet you." Harry extended his hand, Richard shook his hand though he looked extremely reluctant to do so.
"Mother, father, this is Harry Potter and Loki."
"Ah," Edith said as she looked Harry up and down. "this is the boy-who-lived?"
"He's my friend." Lisa frowned.
"And what is that on your shoulder?" Richard asked, looking at Loki.
"That is Loki." Harry replied.
"And the school lets you bring him?" Edith frowned.
"I was able to convince the headmaster to make an exception." Harry said before turning to Lisa. "I'm going to go on the train and save us a compartment." She nodded in response, both knew each other well enough by now to know that he was just trying to escape this conversation. "Well see ya." Harry said to her parents before he walked off to the train.
"I am so sorry about that." Lisa said when she had arrived in the compartment.
"It's fine." Harry waved her off as he helped her put her trunk up. "Do your parents not like me or something?"
"Well they are rather high class and you are very..." Lisa trailed off, trying to think up the right words.
"Not?" Harry guessed.
"Pretty much yeah." Lisa nodded. "Anything interesting happen during your holidays?"
"Well I ended up getting a house elf," Harry shrugged. "there's a bit of a story there. Oh and he helped me work in the cauldron so Tom gave me an even bigger discount on my room. What about you?"
"Same old, same old." She shrugged. "Have you done all your homework?"
"Yep," Harry nodded. "you?"
"Yeah, I found the potions one the hardest."
"Well it is a hard subject, and it does not really help anyone by having a dick like Snape teaching." Harry shrugged.
"I know," Lisa sighed. "the man is so unprofessional, I think it is a miracle that nobody has not been seriously injured in his class yet. Anyway tell me about this new elf of yours."
"Alright fine, well basically here's what happened." Harry said before he began explaining all about what happened between him and Dobby.
A.N: Hey guys, hope you enjoyed the chapter. I know I left it unsaid about what happened to the diary and it will continue to be unsaid for a while but I am sure that some of you could probably guess. I just want to take a moment to respond to some reviews.
Luq707 : I haven't really decided yet if I am going to give him a manor or not, I might just go for a simple home, but it's all undecided for now.
forestwolf12 : When I imagine Loki I also think of dexter, but sometimes I also imagine Abu from Aladdin. Also you would chose a wolf? Could never have guessed (joking, no offence intended).
tastybigsexy : He is Harry's familiar and because of that Harry can understand him.
Alright I just want to thank everyone for reading, I hope you are all doing well and feel free to leave a review.
