Chapter 5: Changes

Agent BM: Yes, and I'm glad to hear that.

The next day, Honey returned to school. She was still a little stiff, but the doctor said moving around would help her heal faster. As she walked into the school, she saw Zeke. Still feeling embarrassed by their first encounter, Honey quickly went past him.

While she was at her locker, getting her books, Rancis and Vanellope came up to her.

"Honey, it's so good to see you back." said Vanellope.

"We heard you crashed your bike into a car and went to the hospital." Rancis added.

"Huh, how'd you know that?" asked Honey confused.

"Being honest, I got food poisoning and was in the same hospital. Rancis saw your parents and they told him what happened." Vanellope explained.

"Hope whoever you hit wasn't too mad." Rancis told her.

"Oh no, they weren't mad at all."

Honey decided it was probably best not to tell them that she ran into the Maroni Gang.

"Well that's good at least."

"I'm surprised you two were concerned about me." Honey admitted.

"Because we like you Honey. You're our friend." he explained.

Honey looked surprised.

"Really?"

"Yeah, you're a nice girl. And you've helped us several times with our schoolwork." told Vanellope.

"Least we can do is care about yours. For example, you might wanna take your purse off." Rancis advised.

"Why?" questioned Honey.

"Because it looks like you're still in pain from hitting a car and the strap is aggravating your shoulder, especially since you keep rubbing your shoulder." Rancis explained.

"Oh, well thanks. I just didn't think you thought much of me after what I heard the others saying."

Vanellope slid Honey's purse off her wounded shoulder and to her good shoulder.

"That feel better?"

"Yeah, thanks."

"And what do you mean by that?"

"When you and the others came to the cafe I was working at. The others were saying things like I was a stick in the mud who didn't know how to have fun." Honey explained.

The two then remembered when they and the others were at the cafe Honey's worked at. And how some of the others were mocking her.

"Taffyta isn't really nice when it comes to people's feelings." Rancis told her.

"You kind of do work a lot. I mean what do you do for fun when you're not working?" Vanellope wanted to know.

"Well...I do things." Honey admitted.

Thinking about it, Honey didn't really do exciting things for fun like her classmates did.

"You ever driven a go kart? That's what a lot of us like to do."

"Not really."

"Would you like to?" Rancis offered.

"Once you've fully healed of course, don't wanna aggravate your shoulders and legs more than they are now."

"Maybe I could do that. It sounds like fun."

"Cool, I'll teach you everything I know." Vanellope offered.

"Vanellope's the best racer of all of us." bragged Rancis.

"Cool."

"Great, as soon as you feel up to it, let us know."

Then the bell rang, and they all went to their classes. As Honey went to her class, she thought that maybe some of her classmates weren't so bad.

The day went on normally, but for some reason, Zeke seemed to be following Honey. And then on the way to lunch, Honey saw Zeke coming towards her in the hallway. She tried to go another, but he quickly blocked her.

"Hold it, Bumblebee. I wanna talk to you." he told her.

"My name's not Bumblebee. And I need to go."

"No you don't, I wanna talk. And I know your names not bumblebee but I don't know your real name."

"(Sighs) fine. First my name is Honey."

"Hello Honey. First thing, I heard you ended up in an accident, you okay?"

"Yes, I'm fine. It was just some bumps and bruises."

"Your shoulder definitely looks bruised, because I don't see too many people in school carry their bags on their elbows. I believe there's ointment for that."

"Okay. Thanks."

"Second, I've noticed you've been trying to avoid me, why? Do I scare you or something?"

"No you don't scare me."

"If you think I'm angry about the whole lunch thing you're mistaken."

Honey was once again surprised.

"You're not mad?"

"I was annoyed but I'm not mad, was clearly accidental."

"Oh well. I'm glad to hear that. I did say I was sorry."

"And I accept your apology."

"Well if that's all you wanted I need to get going to lunch now. Bye."

And with that, Honey hurried to the cafeteria.

"Bye, I guess." Zeke replied.

While she appreciated that Zeke wasn't mad at her for dropping her food on him, she wasn't sure if she should be around him. After all he was a hot, broody new guy and she was just a simple nerd.

When school was over, Honey went up to Taffyta before leaving.

"Hey, Taffyta." "What is it, Honey?" Taffyta wanted to know.

"I was just wondering...does your dad have any idea where the Maroni Gang is currently?"

Taffyta looked confused.

"Why do you want to know that?"

"It's just that since I work in the city, I should be on the lookout."

"Oh well, if you must know Daddy says they've been spotted near the docks."

"Great, thanks." And she hurried off.

"Weird." Taffyta scoffed, and went on her way.

Back at her house, Honey was fixing up some honey buns. They were her specialty, and giving them to the Maroni Gang would be a great way to say thank you. After telling her parents she was stepping out for a while, she pedaled off into the city.

"I still can't believe you're doing this." Stinger said, as he flew next to Honey.

"Now Stinger. They did help me." Honey told him.

"She's right, Stinger." Buzz said.

"Besides, you know how Honey is." Bumble added.

Stinger just rolled his eyes. When they got down to the docks, Honey saw a little building with lights coming from it.

"They must be in there." Honey told her bees.

Clutching the tin box tightly, Honey walked towards the building, and when she got to the door she knocked gently. She waited a couple seconds, and then a little peephole opened on the door. The eye looked surprised, but then the door opened.

Chester answered it, and looked confused.

"Honey Potts?"

"Hello, Chester. I just wanted to come and say thanks again for helping me. And I brought you guys these."

She held up the tin.

"Just a minute."

He closed the door, and after a couple minutes he opened it back and let her in.

"Daniel said you could come in for a while."

As Honey stepped in, her bees flew close to her. Following Chester into a room, she saw the rest of the gang sitting around a table.

"So we meet again Honey Potts." replied Daniel standing up.

"I'm sorry to intrude like this. But I brought this for you guys."

She handed the tin to him. Daniel took it, and opened it up.

"Are these honey buns?"

"Yes." Honey answered slowly.

She began to get a little nervous, what if the gang didn't like honey buns?

"We love those." Stu piped up.

Daniel set the tin down, and they all started to dig in.

"So...I take it you like honey buns?"

"Like em, we love em." Paulie told her.

"Yeah, did you make these?" Francis wanted to know.

"Actually yes. They're kind of my specialty." Honey explained.

"You certainly have a talent. Why don't you take a seat?" Daniel offered.

Honey did, and had a honey bun.

"You're a pretty good baker, Honey." complimented Stu.

"Thanks, honey is my family's specialty. We have a honey farm, and we sell the honey."

"Oh really, we've got a soft spot for honey ourselves." Chester admitted.

"Yeah, maybe we could start buying your honey."

"Buying our honey? That sounds good." Honey thought.
