Breaking Traditions – Part 62:

Draco's birthday had arrived and Narcissa was almost bouncing around the Manor as she waited for him to come home. Severus was bringing him as he was also going to be attending the party as well.

There were a few times where Narcissa had had to pin Rosalie onto a Grandparent as she was crawling and now getting into everything that she wanted to get into. She watched Narcissa get stuff sorted and then moments later the baby would crawl and feel everything that she could and then she would cry because Narcissa would pick her up and she didn't like it at all.

That had been the way it had been for days now and Narcissa was fine with it but she didn't really want Draco's birthday decorations to be ruined, even if Draco wouldn't mind, she did and that was causing half of the problems at Malfoy Manor these days.

The day finally arrived and Narcissa was stood in the room that was connected to the Floo, Rosalie on the floor crawling around. Invisible barriers prevented Rosalie from leaving the room or getting too close to the fireplace as well. There were invisible barriers up everywhere as that was the easiest thing to do for everyone so they could still get to the things that they needed to but stopping Rosalie from getting to them.

The Floo bell dinged and Narcissa looked at the fireplace and Draco stepped out from the fireplace and Narcissa soon had her arms around her son, pulling him away from the fireplace before Severus appeared seconds later. He saw Rosalie sat watching and he moved to scoop her into his arms and gasped as the baby grabbed his hair, tugging at it.

"I'm sorry Severus. She's into everything currently and we are trying to deal with it but she's a crafty little girl and would be either a Slytherin or a Ravenclaw," she said, "she's even slightly ruined something today," she said with a sigh before beginning to lead the two to where she'd set things up for Draco's birthday, which was the Parlour.

"I am sorry the decorations aren't perfect, Draco," Narcissa said with a sigh before she frowned at his laughter, "I don't get what is so funny Draco," she said, "I wanted everything to be perfect for you and, thanks to your sister, it's not."

"Oh mother!" Draco said with a sigh, "I don't care that it's not perfect. What matters is that I have a baby sister and that most of us are here and there was effort," he said, placing a hand on his mother's arm, "it's the thought that counts… not how perfect something is. Anyway it's Rosa's way of saying happy birthday to me as well," he said before watching as all four Grandparents walked into the room and wished him happy birthday.

Draco was surprised to see Druella with them and he went to say something but Narcissa shook her head in warning and took her daughter back from Severus before Severus lost any of his hair to his baby niece.

Draco began to open some of his presents and he smiled as he looked at the presents carefully each time he opened one and thanked the person who gave it to him. Narcissa and Lucius had taught him to say thank you for everything that he received… even if he didn't like it… because he was lucky to get such a lovely gift from someone.

"I still have to open Daphne's which Astoria is sending to her from them both over the weekend," Draco said, "it was the last thing I was expecting but our families are tied together now and that is something that will not change," he said and Lucius nodded, knowing that it would be a good match for Draco and that is all he ever wanted for his son and, when the time came, his daughter.

Draco smiled as Rosalie crawled over and began to get lost in the wrapping paper and the sounds the paper made were making her laugh. Her little laugh was making everyone smile and she waved her hands in the air and the wrapping paper hung from her little hands.

"She really is getting into everything," Severus said as he looked at Rosalie, "I cannot believe that she's going to be a year old in a couple of months," he said as he looked at Lucius and Narcissa.

"It is rather, seems unbelievable that our daughter will be one before long," Lucius said, "I didn't realise that this was going to become a reality at all," he said and Priscilla chuckled.

"Your wife would have had her way one way or another. You just needed Draco to give you a push in the right direction and then the rest was going to happen," she said and Lucius sighed, knowing that his mother was right, "if not then your sister would have. Yes Meredith has decided to like her family again and she will be in touch with you before long to see when she can come and see you," she said.

"Why now?" Draco asked.

"I guess she feels it's time to make up for her mistakes and that is something that she has had to come to terms with," Priscilla said, "my daughter seems to have realised her mistakes. I suspect something happened in the Auror Office and now she wants to come back. Anyway… us Grandparents have something to show you Draco," she said swiftly changing the subject and she rose with the other grandparents and began to lead the way to Draco's room.

Lucius and Narcissa were also following as they wanted to know what had been going on in Draco's room as he'd had some new things for his room but they had no idea why.

"Now we know that you're at Hogwarts a lot but you are growing up now," Cygnus spoke as he looked at Draco, "and your room wasn't reflecting that so we decided to take matters into our own hands and work on that," he said before he opened the door.

"Merlin!" Draco said with a gasp as he walked inside the room to have a look around, "it's amazing!" he said before Lucius and Narcissa were finally allowed to see what had been going on in Draco's room over the past few weeks.
