Hey guys, here's chapter 3 of Rise of Zeo. I've had help from a few friends regarding this chapter. One of those friends being JTWAS1994. This chapter will be a rewrite of an actual episode, that episode being Something Ventured, Someone Framed. We decided to swap the order of this episode with the episode Lost in Language for reasons that will be explained later. Also, I don't remember everything they say in the actual episode, so forgive me if I improvise a bit. I would look up transcript, but I don't really feel like switching back and forth between tabs. Anyway, here's chapter 3

It was another day on the Boiling Isles. In the Owl House, Luz, Eda and King were sorting through some old stuff while Zeo was sitting on the couch working on the designs for a new card.

"Hey Luz" Hooty called out.

"Yeah, Hooty? What's up?" Luz asked the owl door thing.

"Your friend Gus is here; he says he needs to ask a favor!" Hooty said. The door opened up, revealing her human-obsessed friend.

"Hey, Luz" Gus greeted.

"Hey, Gus" Luz greeted back.

"Who's this?" Gus asked, noticing the boy on the couch.

"Oh, this is Zeo. Zeo, this is my friend Gus" Luz said, introducing the boys to each other.

"Nice to meet you" Gus said, extending his hand.

"Likewise" Zeo said, shaking his hand.

Gus looked at Zeo then at Eda, and then back to Zeo.

"You know, you kind of look like Eda" Gus commented.

"Yeah, about that…" Luz nervously rubbed the back of her head.

[One explanation later]

"Wait, he was hit, but didn't disappear?" Gus raised an eyebrow in confusion.

"I know, weird, right? Luz said, "But enough about that. Hooty said you needed a favor, what's up?" she asked.

"I was hoping you'd come to Hexside and meet the H.A.S so they can see if the artifacts we have are really from the human realm" Gus told her. Zeo looked at him curiously. "You see there's this new kid in the society. He claims to have human artifacts, but I could tell they were fakes, but he was able to sway the other members in his favor. I opened my big mouth and told them I'd bring a real human to the next meeting" he explained with a slight chuckle.

Zeo narrowed his eyes with suspicion.

"I'd love to help you out, Gus, but I'm banned, remember?" Luz pointed her thumb to the wall that had a picture of her covered in purple goo with the word banned written on the bottom.

"That raises SO many questions" Zeo raised an eyebrow, "Luz, what the hell did you do?" he asked the human girl.

"Another long story" Luz said sheepishly.

"If you ask me, Bump did you a favor. There's nothing for you there at that dweebus factory" Eda told her, "No offense, dweebus" she smiled slyly at Gus.

"None taken. I come from a long line of dweebuses" Gus said with a shrug.

"That doesn't seem hard to believe…" Zeo muttered under his breath.

"But about you not being allowed into Hexside…" Gus began, "I… got the ban lifted!" Gus said with a large grin.

"Really?!" Luz beamed with excitement.

"Really?" Zeo looked at him with a combination of skepticism and slight disbelief.

"Really. Using my connections, I convinced Principal Bump to get the ban lifted and allow you to come tomorrow for the meeting" Gus told her.

To his amazement, Luz was actually buying it. Zeo, on the other hand, wasn't entirely convinced.

"Oh, Gus, thank you! I owe you big time! Of course I'll help you!" Luz said, placing a hand on the younger boy's shoulder.

"Great, thanks" Gus said sheepishly, "Well, see you tomorrow" he said as he left the house.

"See ya" Luz said. When they were alone, Eda spoke up.

"I don't know why you'd want to spend time in that prison of forced obedience" Eda commented.

"Better than sorting boxes in the Eda Coven" Luz shot back, placing her hands on her hips.

"Oh, you think your clever, huh?" Eda stood up, placing her hands on her hips as well.

"Ooh! Fight! Fight! Fight!" King chanted, pumping his fists.

"Shut it, King!" Eda glared over her shoulder at the dog creature, and then at the human girl, "First of all, it's the Bad Girl Coven" she told her with some sass, "And second, I'm guessing you don't want one of the t-shirts" she said, holding up a graphic tee with the name of coven she had made up written at the top.

"Wow, that's… crude" Zeo commented.

"I don't care about t-shirts, Eda! I want learn magic, and they teach that at Hexside!" Luz argued.

"Unless it's burning down, I don't hear the name Hexside" Eda said as she began to walk out.

"Wow, you really upset her. I'm going to go rub it in" King said, following the owl lady.

"Speaking of magic, I just thought of a new card" Zeo said, tapping the glyph on the back of the image he had drawn, turning the sheet of paper into a card. He then handed it to Luz.

"Light of Cleaning?" Luz read the card which was titled Magic Card: Light of Cleaning. It was a yellow card, the image being that of a ball of light in the middle of a living room.

"I just thought it looked cool" Zeo said as Luz handed him.

"It does" Luz replied, sitting next to him, "Although, I personally think the one you made based around Eda was even cooler" she smiled.

[Flashback]

"Ugh… what happened?" Eda groaned, rubbing her head.

"Your cursed form showed up again, but we were able to stop you. Welcome back" Luz smiled, a hand upon her mentor's shoulder.

"Uh, thanks" Eda said, although a bit unsure of how to respond. She looked around, "Where's King?" she asked.

"Good question" Luz replied.

The question was soon answered when Eda hacked up a giant ball of half-digested stuff. The ball then broke open, revealing a saliva-covered King.

"Ha! The little runt got eaten!" Zeo chuckled.

"It… It was so horrible in there. I… I need to go take hot bath" King said, heading towards the bathroom.

There was a pause between the remaining three. That's when Luz spoke up.

"So… Zeo found his own type of magic!" Luz said with glee, "Show her, Zeo" she looked at the boy.

Zeo reached into his pocket and pulled out his new Thunder Snake card, handing it to the owl lady.

"A card?" Eda looked at it with a raised eyebrow.

"Yeah. I just drew it, tapped the glyph on the back and it turned into a card" Zeo said, "And after seeing your cursed form, I made one based on that too. See?" he showed her a picture of a huge owl, "Now, watch…"

Zeo tapped the glyph on the back, transforming the sheet of paper into a card. This card was black. This creature was a six-star monster, the symbol on the upper part of the card being a crescent moon, which Zeo figure it must've been a dark type monster.

Speaking of the monster, the image was of a large, black owl. The owl was based of a great horned owl. It wore stainless steel armor; a chest plate on the front of its body; shoulder guards; and a helmet on the top of its head, one that had a crescent moon embossed on the forehead. The creature had razor sharp, metal talons. Its eyes were blank and glowing a golden yellow. The image showed the owl flying towards you while screeching and baring its talons, the full moon shining behind it. The name of the creature was Knight Owl.

"Whoa… you based that off my cursed form?" Eda asked, looking at the teenage boy.

"Yeah, it looked powerful and fierce" Zeo replied.

"Huh. Not sure if I should be flattered or offended" Eda said.

"Think it looks awesome!" Luz smiled, looking at the owl card.

[End of Flashback]

"Yeah, Knight Owl looks amazing. I just wish I knew what these cards do" Zeo said, looking at his cards.

"I'm sure you'll figure it out" Luz placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder.

He'd figure out what Gus was up to on top of that.

The Next Day

Hexside Academy…

"You told her what?!" Willow asked with disbelief.

"I didn't think it was that big of a deal" Gus rubbed the back of his head.

"Not that big a deal?" Willow repeated, "Gus, you lied to our best friend and told her you got the ban lifted!" she said, her arms to the side.

Unknown to them, a certain silver-haired clone was secretly listening from the branch of a nearby tree, leaning against the trunk with his arms crossed.

"I knew it. I knew something was up with him" Zeo said to himself with his eye narrowed. "I just can't believe he'd lied to Luz" he said, continuing to watch the plant and illusionist students, listening on their conversation. That's when he saw Luz arrive, "As much as I want to bust Gus right now, I can't. Luz is happy and, really, what can I do? All I've got are these" he said, pulling out the three cards he had made.

Zeo sighed, but then noticed something. Beneath the creature cards were extra cards. These cards were different from the creature cards and the Inferno Gale magic card. These were command cards, a few for each creature.

"Whoa…" Zeo said with amazement.

It was then he looked to the side and saw two tiny lizards climbing the tree; one an icy blue, the other a fiery orange. Struck with inspiration, Zeo took out his sketchpad and started drawing. Soon, he had two new cards. Both depicted lizards, each based on bearded dragons, a small lizard. They were both level three.

The first one was orange with a mane of fire running from the top of its head down to its waist, its tail having a flame at the tip. It had blank, yellow eyes. The image depicted it in front of an erupting volcano.

The second one was an icy blue, a mane of ice shards running from the top of its head down to its waist, its tail had ice shards sticking out from the tip. Like its fiery counterpart, it too had blank, yellow eyes. The image on its card depicted it in front of a massive glacier.

The names of these cards were Frost Lizard and Magma Lizard. Like with the other two, he found command cards. Magma Lizard's depicting it shooting a fiery blast of magma from its mouth; and Frost Lizard's showed it shooting a mini blizzard from its mouth.

"I may not have much magic, but at least I'm good at something" Zeo said to himself before hearing a voice.

"Ugh. I've had this dream before" Zeo looked to see it was Eda.

"What's she doing here?" Zeo asked with a raised eyebrow, watching as she entered the building.

Zeo leapt from the tree branch, doing a flip just before landing on one knee. He decided to walk in and secretly follow the older witch. He watched as Eda entered what appeared to be the principal's office. Pressing his body up against the wall, he listened in on their conversation.

"Hey, long time no see, Bumpikins" Eda said, taking a seat across from the principal, leaning back in the chair with her feet planted on the desk, "I've got to admit, it's a little weird being here without Bump, however, drew a circle in the air which caused Eda fall back and hit her head.

"What're you doing here, Edalyn?" Bump asked. Eda then sat back in her seat.

"I want to…" Eda blew her hair out of her face, "I want to enroll my human, Luz, into Hexside" she told him.

"She's here to enroll Luz?" Zeo asked in whisper.

"That's not a bad" Bump replied.

"I knew it! You no good, pompus—wait, what?" Eda looked at him with confusion.

"I think the students here could learn a lot form such an exchange student" Bump said, making his way to a filing cabinet, "However, there are some matters that must be attended to" he began.

"Oh, right. I heard about the whole abomination incident" Eda spoke.

"Oh, I'm not talking about Luz…" Bump started, caring a large amount of papers in his arms which he dropped in front of Eda, "I'm talking about the pranks, the graffiti; all the wrongdoings you did when you were a student here, Edalyn" he said a stern tone.

"Huh. Thought there'd be more" Eda said with wide eyes.

"Good luck with that…" Zeo muttered, pulling his hood up as he quietly left the school.

Zeo had travelled a good distance. He had gone off in a random direction after leaving Hexside, now in a rocky terrain. The whole time, he had been staring at his cards.

"What am I supposed to do with you guys? You look so cool, yet I can't do anything with you" Zeo said to the cards. Suddenly, that's when he felt the ground beneath him start to rumble, "What the…?"

That's when, out of the ground, came a worm-like monster. A purple one with four eyes and mouth full of razor-sharp teeth.

"Oh, crap…" Zeo muttered to himself as he realized her must've accidentally walked into this massive beast's territory… and it was pissed, "What am I supposed to?" Zeo asked himself.

The giant worm started diving where Zeo was. Luckily, he was able to get of the way via a dodge-roll.

"How am I supposed to dodge something that moves underground?" he asked, exasperated. He took out his cards and looked at them, "If only these were more useful!" he said.

Suddenly, the ground started shaking again. Zeo realized it was only a matter of time before the worm creature erupted out of the ground again. He had no way of figuring out where it would come out, nor to defend himself.

"Damn it all!" Zeo shouted, throwing his arm to the side. However, he ended up accidentally tossing his Knight Owl card. When he did, the card floated in midair, glowing with a dark purple energy, which didn't go unnoticed by Zeo. "What's going on?" Zeo asked himself. That's when he heard the screech of a bird which emanated from the floating card, "This is going to be either really smart or really stupid, but… Knight Owl, arise!" he shouted.

In that moment, the energy of the card grew brighter before quickly dissipating. In its place stood Knight Owl, just as he was on his card. A black great horned owl, wearing a steel chest plate, steel shoulder guards and a steel helmet with a crescent moon embossed in the center. He had glowing golden eyes. By the looks of it, this owl was a bit bigger than Eda in her cursed owl beast form, by at least a head or two. Knight Owl released a screech.

"Whoa…" was all Zeo could say upon seeing the armored avian. He then realized something, "If that worked for him then maybe…" he pulled out his other cards. "Thunder Snake, Frost Lizard, Magma Lizard, arise!" he tossed the cards, each glowing with light purple, icy blue and red orange energies respectively which resulted in the remaining creatures to come to life.

Thunder Snake was long enough to come up to his chest. While Frost Lizard and Magma Lizard were size of beagles.

Zeo walked up to Knight Owl. As if knowing what he was thinking, Knight Owl bowed his head, allowing Zeo to hop onto his back. The armored avian then proceeded to fly upward.

"Now I've got a chance" Zeo said while riding on top of his owl, "But it's not going to do any good if it burrows back into the ground" he added. He then remembered the command cards, picking the one that came with Frost Lizard, "I wonder…" Zeo muttered, "Command Card: Blizzard Breath!" he shouted, tossing the card at the icy reptile which entered its back.

Frost Lizard then shot an icy storm from his mouth. As if sensing what Zeo was thinking, the blue reptile aimed his attack at the ground, covering it in a thick layer of ice. The worm creature tried to burrow again, only for the ice to stop it.

"Nice!" Zeo smiled, but then realized something, "Quickly, make sure he doesn't go back into the hole he's already in!"

Frost Lizard then aimed another blizzard at the worm's base and froze it, causing it to squirm in displeasure.

"Now let's see what the others are capable of. Command Cards: Lightning Lash and Magma Blast!" Zeo tossed the two cards, the first one going into Thunder Snake's tail while the second went into Magma Lizard's back.

Thunder Snake shot a bolt of lightning from its tail, while Magma Lizard shot a blast of magma from his mouth. Both attacks hit the worm, causing it to writhe in agony. Knight Owl hooted eagerly.

"I'm guessing you want in on it too, huh?" Zeo assumed, Knight Owl replying with a nod, "Alright, let's see what you can do" he said, pulling out the command cards for the armored avian, only to discover four command cards instead of one like the others, "Set me down somewhere" Zeo ordered, Knight Owl proceeding to set him down a nearby hill, "Let's do this! Command Card: Shadow Rush!" Zeo tossed the card into the armored bird's back.

With a screech, Knight Owl transformed into a shadowy version of himself before flying into the air and charging at the worm. The shadowy image struck the worm, this time causing it more damage.

"Command Card: Shadow Wing Slice!" Zeo tossed the second command card into Knight Owl's right wing.

The bird's right wing was enveloped in shadows and took the form of a blade, which Knight Owl used to slash at the worm, leaving a deep gash at the top of its body near its frozen base. The worm's injury caused it to gush lime green blood.

"Command Card: Feather Knife Storm!" Zeo tossed the third card into Knight Owl's chest.

Knight Owl then flapped his wings, unleashing a barrage of sharp, metal feathers that tore through the worm's body. With that, the worm was cut in half, the upper half spilling blood on to the ground.

"Nice work, guys" Zeo complimented, each of the beasts replying with various sounds, "Thunder Snake, Frost Lizard, Magma Lizard, return!" he said, the three reptiles returning to their card forms and retreating to his hand.

Their command cards had returned to him as well. That's when Zeo noticed that each of the cards were now gray. That made him realize that summoning the creatures took mana, or magical energy, and takes a while for them to be fully recharged. Zeo then turned to Knight Owl.

"Hey, do you mind giving me a ride back to Hexside? I want to see how things are going" Zeo said. Knight replied by bowing his head, signaling he was willing preform Zeo's request, "Thanks" he said, petting the armored beast before getting on, Knight Owl then took off into the sky.

Unknown to him, the worm that had been sliced had quickly begun to regenerate.

Hexside Academy…

"I still can't believe you went through all that to get me enrolled, Eda" Luz said, looking at the pile of papers that was Eda's permanent record, "Too bad I almost screwed it all up, and that my enrollment cost you your position as head of the H.A.S. I'm sorry, Gus" she told the illusionist student.

"It's ok. It's worth it if it means you get to go to school with us" Gus replied.

It was then that a shadow in the shape of a large bird loomed over them. Looking up, they saw a large, black owl descend in front of them with Zeo riding on its back.

"Hey guys" Zeo greeted, hopping off the armored bird.

"Zeo! Where have you been?" Luz asked.

"And where'd you get the giant owl?" Eda chimed in.

"Well, I was busy fighting a giant worm and—"

Zeo's explanation was cut off by the ground rumbling. In that moment, the worm monster from earlier erupted from the ground, several feet away from behind Knight Owl. It glared, setting its eyes on Zeo.

"Correction, still fighting a giant worm" Zeo said. With the rest of Knight Owl's command cards having turned gray, Zeo looked at the remaining one that was still active. He looked at Knight Owl, who nodded, "Command Card: Lunar Victory!" Zeo tossed the final card into Knight Owl's head.

Knight Owl then shot several hundred feet into the air. It was then that every piece of the bird's armor began to glow with white light. The light then transferred out in front of Knight Owl's chest until formed into a giant energy ball. With a screech, Knight Owl flapped his wings, sending the energy ball hurling towards his opponent. The moment the energy ball struck the worm, it was enveloped in a pillar of light, the creature shrieking in pain as it was obliterated into nothing. The others had to shield their eyes due to the brightness of the attack. When the light dissipated, all that was left was a large crater of scorched earth.

"Damn, that was actually kind of cool!" Zwo said, impressed as Knight Owl descended, "Knight Owl, return" he commanded, the armored avian returning to Zeo's hand in its card form. He turned to the others to see stunned expressions upon their faces.

"How… How did you do that?" Luz asked, both shocked and amazed.

"Heh. Turns out there's more to my cards than I originally thought" Zeo said, rubbing the back of his head.

"So, that bird, Knight Owl, is something you summoned from that card you made earlier?" Eda asked.

"Uh-huh" Zeo gave a confirming nod.

"Huh. And I thought Luz's magic was different" Eda muttered.

"Um, guys…" Willow started saying, "I don't mean to be rude or anything, but who is this guy and why does he look kind of like Eda? And what's all this about cards?" she asked.

"This is Zeo. Eda's clone" Luz informed her.

"Clone?" Willow questioned.

"Yeah, but unlike most clones…" Eda placed her papers down and summoned her staff which she used to whack Zeo on the head, "He doesn't disappear when hit" she told her.

"How many times are you going to do that?" Zeo asked, annoyed while rubbing his head.

"As many times as I need to" Eda replied.

"Good news: I'm enrolled into Hexside!" Luz told Zeo excitedly.

"Oh, really?" Zeo raised an eyebrow, pretending not to know.

"I have to wait until next semester and my enrollment cost Gus his position in H.A.S, but I'm in!" Luz said enthusiastically.

"Congratulations, Luz" Zeo smiled.

The Owl House…

"Ok, this might be a little freaky at first…" Zeo warned Luz, Willow and Gus, "Thunder Snake, arise!" he said as the electric serpent appeared.

"Whoa…" Gus and Willow said.

"Cool!" Luz said.

"And that's not all" Zeo pulled out another card, "Command Card: Lightning Lash" he tossed the card into the snake. The snake then used his tail to zap King with lightning, which Zeo chuckle at.

"Hey, Zeo" He looked over his shoulder at Eda, "Come here for a second" she told him, motioning for him to come to her.

"What's up?" he asked her.

"Remember how Luz said I got her enrolled into Hexside?" she asked, Zeo replied with a nod, "Well, I enrolled you too" she said.

[Flashback]

"Here are the papers you'll need to sign to enroll Luz" Principal Bump said, sliding a few sheets of paper towards Eda.

"Oh, that's not so bad" Eda said, smiling in relief. She took a nearby pen and was about to fill out the papers, when something came to her, "Wait a minute…" she began, "There's another kid I want to enroll too" she told Bump.

"Oh?" Bump raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah, his name's Zeo. I think he has a lot of potential, especially considering his origins" Eda glanced to the side with a knowing smirk.

"If that's what you want then you may enroll him along with Luz" Bump said, sliding more of the same papers.

"Heh. You better enjoy this place, kids…" she muttered with some amusement.

[End of Flashback]

"…Why?" Zeo asked, confused.

"Because I have faith in you; and someone needs to have Luz's back while I'm not around. Besides, you could learn a lot from the witches at that school" Eda told him, "And if you're anything like me, you know not to fall for that "one witch, one coven" nonsense, right?" she asked.

"Of course" Zeo nodded, "Thanks, Mom. I appreciate this" he said before turning away. Literally a second later, Eda realized what he just said.

"Ok, am I hearing things as a result of that shock or did he just call you "Mom"?" King asked, while Eda just had a shocked look on her face, "Eda? Eda? Are you alright?" King asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Just a bit surprised is all" Eda replied.

"Good surprised or bad surprised?" King asked.

"I… don't know" Eda said.

And that's the end of this chapter. Like I said, I decided to swap the order of this episode and Lost in Language, which will be the next episode I do a rewrite of. Forgive me if some scenes were out of order, I'm going off memory alone. I might look at the transcripts for future episode rewrites. This chapter was co-written with JTWAS1994.

Looks like Zeo's cards are more than just cards. Now he has the power to summon powerful beasts at his command. These cards are kind of like a combination of Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh! And, if you count the command cards, Bakugan. So, yeah. If you have ideas for new creatures, command cards or spell cards, say so in a review. Here are the requirements for the creature cards: Name, level and attribute (element of nature). The higher the level, the more command cards it gets. The only requirements for command cards is which beast it's for and what it does (they don't all have to be attack based though).

If you have an idea for a future, say it in a review or feel free to message me.
