Hey guys, here's chapter 4 of Rise of Zeo. This chapter will take place during an actual episode of the show. I've only been able to catch this specific episode a few times, so forgive me if it's different from the actual episode itself. Anyway, here's chapter 4. Enjoy.
In was another day on the Boiling Isles, as well as the Owl House. Luz was on the couch, reading her Azura the Good Witch book out loud with King surprisingly interested. Zeo, on the other hand was busy sketching, putting the finishing touches on his latest beast.
"Hey, Luz…" Zeo said, temporarily distracting Luz from her book, "What do you think of this one?" he asked, showing the final design.
"Aww, it's kind of cute. In a "shred you to pieces" sort of way" Luz commented.
"I'm thinking of calling him Razor-dillo" Zeo said.
"Add a few more sawblades on the tail and I think you've got a winner" King added.
"Huh. The little pipsqueak might have a good idea for once in his life" Zeo said while adding the tiny additions to the sketch.
"Yeah, I… Hey! What's that supposed to mean?" King asked, feeling a bit insulted. Zeo chuckled, "Don't laugh at me!" he told him.
Soon Zeo had put the finishing touches and made the glyph that creates the cards, "Aaand… done!" he said, tapping the glyph and creating the card that was made as a result, "Check it out, Luz" he handed the human girl the card.
The card depicted a brownish-yellow armadillo with green eyes. It had a series of sawblades across the top of its head, as well as its back and tiny ones running down its little tail. It even had some on the back of its paws. The sawblades on its back were bigger than all the others. This creature was a level 3 beast, a rock symbol next to its name which indicated that it was an earth attribute beast.
"Ooh, can I summon him?" Luz asked eagerly.
"Be my guest" Zeo insisted.
"Razor-dillo, arise!" Luz tossed the card. With a quick flash of bronze light, the armadillo appeared before them, "Aww! Even with those sawblades, he's cute" Luz gushed. She then noticed his command cards, "Razor Spin?" she questioned.
The command card in question depicted the armadillo in a ball, its blades in position that made it impossible to not get cut. Luz then tossed said card. It entered Razor-dillo's back and he immediately formed a ball, the unmistakable sound of several chainsaws filling the room. It went after King, who screamed as he ran.
Zeo couldn't help but laugh at King's misfortune, "Thanks for giving me the idea for those extra sawblades!" he told King.
"Zeo" Luz folded her arms over her chest.
"What? He literally asked for it!" Zeo defended himself.
It was then that the front door opened. Zeo walked to the front door and saw there was a basket with a blanket in it at the doorstep. Raising an eyebrow, Zeo took the basket in his hands before taking it into the house, closing the door behind him. He went into the kitchen with Luz following close behind.
"Eda, you've got a package. It looks like a gift basket" Luz said as Zeo placed the basket on the kitchen counter.
"Probably an offering. Ah! Being the most powerful witch in the Boiling Isles has its perks" Eda boasted, just King came in running around with Razor-dillo still chasing him, "I'm not even going to ask" Eda said, referring to the tiny demon's current predicament.
Zeo removed the blanket. The item in question turned out to be a sleeping baby.
"A baby?" Zeo raised an eyebrow.
"Nope! Not eating that" Luz stepped back a bit.
"Witches eating babies is so 1693. What is this?" Eda said.
"There's a note" Zeo pointed out.
"Take care of my child until morning. Yi Yi"
"Yeah, like someone like the Owl Lady has what it takes to care of a baby" Zeo remarked.
"Hey!" Eda said.
"There's more" Zeo pointed.
"You'll be handsomely rewarded." – Bat Queen.
"Bat Queen?" Eda repeated. Zeo took the coins, jingling them in his hand, "Reward?" Eda beamed, eyeing the coins.
"Who's the Bat Queen?" Luz asked.
"She's the wealthiest demon on the Boiling Isles. Get in with her and you're set for life" Eda told them, "So, we just have to keep this thing alive for a few hours and we get paid?" she asked rhetorically while taking the coins from Zeo, "Pfft. Easy" she said.
"Our greatest adventure yet! Learning about love and life through a child's eyes—"
"Not you" Eda cut her off, "You two have to return the books I checked out from the library" she drew a magic circle, causing an equal pile of books to drop into Luz and Zeo's arms.
"Oh, you're just saying that because you don't want us to get a cut of the reward!" Zeo narrowed his eyes at her in a glare.
"No! What makes you say that?" Eda asked, darting her eyes back and forth, "Now get going!" she told them, pointing to the kitchen door.
It was in the moment that the bat baby woke and instantly started crying. The cry was actually more of a wail which made everyone wince.
"On second thought, maybe we could use your—"
"Oh, the irony. Sorry, Mom, we've got to return these books" Zeo smiled deviously at her, "Come on, Luz" he told the human.
"Coming!" Luz said as she followed him outside.
"But because you asked nicely…" Zeo poked his head back in, "Razor-dillo!" he called his latest creature, who stopped chasing King, "Help in anyway you can" he said before leaving.
The Library…
"Do you feel about leaving Eda and King alone with the baby bat?" Luz asked as they entered the building, holding half of the stack of books in her arms.
"Eh, they kind of had it coming" Zeo replied with a shrug, holding the other half of the stack of books in his arms. He had decided to put his hood up to keep his face hidden, "Besides, it's better than us having to be tormented by that thing's ghastly crying" he added, "Plus, that thing looked nothing like a bat. It was more like a creepy human baby head with a pair of bat wings and some bat legs" he said, cringing a bit.
The duo then entered the library. The librarian then collected the books, passing them through a magical ring.
"Coffee, grass and bloodstains? These are Eda's, aren't they?" the librarian asked.
"Heh. That was a crazy night…" Luz muttered, sheepishly looking off to the side.
The librarian sighed, "I'll put them on her tab" he told them, "By the way, we're closing early for the Wailing Star meteor shower" he gestured to a poster.
"Ooh" Luz was intrigued, "What's that?" she asked.
"You're in a library. Read some books" the librarian said smugly.
Zeo narrowed his eyes at him with a glare. Eda's clone pulled out his Knight Owl card, only for Luz to quickly place her hand on top of his.
"We are in a library. We will read books" Luz grinned, "Come on, Zeo" she said, pulling the boy by his arm as they walked off.
"Smartass librarian. I would've had Knight Owl ripped out his liver and let him eat it" Zeo muttered.
They saw drawers with faces. Luz tickled it, causing it to open its mouth. She then tossed a candy into its mouth. The monster drawer chewed, and then gagged a second later.
Moments later, they passed by some kids that were using crystal balls like televisions.
"This place is amazing" Luz said.
"Oh, yeah, it's a festival of fun" Zeo said with sarcasm, walking with hands in his pockets.
"What do you think you're doing?" they heard a voice.
Luz gasped, "We've been caught. Pretend to be a book!" she said, maneuvering her limbs so she appeared to be a square shape. Zeo rolled his eyes.
They then heard the sound of kids giggling.
"Think they're—"
"Wait!" Luz cut him off, placing a finger over his lips. They peeked around the corner to see Amity sitting in a chair with a book, several kids gathered around her in a semicircle, "Amity reading to kids?" Luz questioned.
"Huh. And here I thought she was just a stuck-up bitch" Zeo commented.
"Amity seems so nice and smiley…" Luz said, and then gasped, "Maybe I can befriend her like Azura befriended her rival" she told Zeo.
"I guess it's worth a shot" Zeo shrugged, "I wouldn't waste me breath though…" he muttered.
As the kids left, they approached the Abomination witchling. Amity then spotted them.
"Ugh! You two…" Amity groaned with annoyance.
"Yeah, nice to see you, too" Zeo greeted with sarcasm.
"Amity…" Luz started, almost slipping but was able to catch herself, "Reading to kids. Wow. Looks like this sour lemon drop has a hidden sweet center" she said playfully.
"It's for extra credit. Don't get your leggings in a bunch" Amity told her.
"Hey, we could help with the kids. We could take turns reading" Luz gestured to herself and Zeo.
"Oh, don't drag me into this" Zeo shook his head.
"I do the best monster voice" Luz said those last two words in a robotic voice.
"Human, do you see me going to Owl Shack—"
"Owl House" Zeo corrected.
"Whatever. Do you see me going there and bugging you while you… fry up owls?" Amity snapped, and scoffed, "Ok, I don't really know what you do there, but every time you come near me, I get in trouble. Just leave me alone" Amity turned her back to her.
"I'm sorry" Luz apologized, "I'm sorry. Come on, Zeo" she said to the Owl Lady's clone.
Zeo narrowed his eyes at Amity in irritation. He pulled out his Frost Lizard card, only to have Luz put her hand on top of his. He saw her shaking her head in a way that silently told him that Amity wasn't worth what he was thinking of doing.
"So much for befriending rivals" Luz said as she and Zeo walked away.
"You gonna let her get to you like that?" a voice asked.
The duo looked and saw a boy and a girl with dark green hair. The looked to be similar in appearance.
"Who the hell are you guys?" Zeo raised an eyebrow.
"Well-wishers on a mission" the boy replied.
"A noble quest" the girl chimed in.
"Watch this" the boy spoke, "Hey, Mittens" the boy called out, causing Amity to grunt. It didn't take a genius to put two and two together, "Mom says stop forgetting your lunch" he told Amity, holding up a lunchbox "And stop being a jerk to your friend" he added.
"Pfft! Mittens?" Zeo chuckled.
Amity grunted, snatching the lunchbox out her older brother's hand, "She is not my friend" she told him.
"Yeah, makes sense. She seems too cool for you" her older sister said.
"Uh-ho, burn!" Zeo teased.
"You can leave now. All of you" Amity told them all.
The twins chuckled, gesturing for Luz and Zeo to follow them.
"So, you're the human we've heard so much about" the boy twin said.
"I'm Emira, and this is Edric. We're Amity's older siblings" the girl twin introduced herself and her male twin.
"No, really? I never would've guessed" Zeo sarcastically remarked.
"We heard how you embarrassed her at the school and at the witch's convention last week. No wonder she hates you" Emira said casually.
"What did you do?" Zeo asked the human girl.
"I… It's a long story" Luz replied, rubbing the back of her head, "I didn't mean any of it though"
"You seem cool to us" Edric said, and then looked at Zeo, "And so does your boyfriend" he added.
"What? We're not…" Luz and Zeo said together. The twins chuckled at this.
"So, you two aren't dating?" Emira asked, rubbing her chin curiously.
"No" They both replied.
"Too bad…" Emira walked up to them, "Because you're really handsome" she bent over, caressing Zeo's cheek in her soft hand, making Zeo stiffen and blush, "Aww, so cute" she cooed, holding his face in both hands.
"Uhh, thanks?" Zeo said, a bit unsure.
"Ok!" Luz said excitedly.
"I've got nothing better to do" Zeo shrugged.
"Great!" Emira said, pinching Zeo's cheeks.
"Could you please not do that?" Zeo asked, blushing even harder.
"Ok…" Emira playfully rolled her eyes, "But how about this?" she instead nuzzled her soft cheek against his.
Zeo groaned while Luz giggled at this.
"Come on!" Edric said.
Several pranks later…
The four of them were kicked out of the library, Amity having told on them.
"You've made reading far too fun. Now, stay out" The librarian told them before closing the door.
The four teens then shared a quick laugh.
"Ok, you guys were right. That was fun" Zeo smiled.
"Amity's even madder at me now. I didn't even think that was possible" Luz said, chuckling a bit.
"No, when Mittens gets mad, she looks like this…" Edric inhaled sharply, grunted, and then exhaled, "… "Whoa, almost passed out"!" he mimicked what his younger sister would do.
"You guys are pretty fun" Emira said, "So, hey, we're coming back tonight. There's a certain book we forgot to check out"
"And bonus, rumor has it the Wailing Star's supposed to unlock some rare magical even. You in, friends?" Edric offered.
"Sure" Luz agreed.
"Again, I have nothing better to do" Zeo shrugged.
"Great. Meet back here at midnight. See you, Luz. See you, Zeo" Edric said as he walked away.
"Bye" Luz replied.
"See you later, Zeo" Emira winked at the boy, blowing a kiss at him before following her twin. Zeo sighed.
"This is great. First, we befriend the siblings the we befriend the Amity" Luz said with a squeal, "Also, I think Emira likes you" she teased Zeo.
"… Shut up" Zeo muttered, looking away with an embarrassed blush which made Luz giggle.
The two then headed back to the Owl House. Unknown to either of them, Amity had been watching from the sidelines.
The Owl House…
The baby bat had been screeching on the couch. It was so bad that King and Eda had to cover their ears, with Eda detaching her own hands. Razor-dillo even resorted to curling up into a ball to block out the noise.
"It's been hours. How can it keep screaming?" King asked.
"I hate it too, pipsqueak. But think about the money" Eda told him. The baby bat still screeched, this time causing a vase to shatter.
"No amount of snails is worth this" King said.
Eda sighed, "I can't believe I'm about to do this…" she took the baby into her arms, "Rock. Rock. Maternal gesture" she cooed, albeit in a nonchalant monotone.
The baby stopped crying. Unfortunately for Eda, it was at that moment that Zeo and Luz walked back in.
"We just had the best day. Cool teens like us" Luz said, "Call us library books 'cause they were checking us out" that's when they saw the baby in Eda's arms.
"Huh. Wasn't expecting that" Zeo said, taken back a bit.
"Aw, Eda, you look so motherly" Luz commented.
"Tell anyone about this and I'll fry you both" Eda threatened.
Zeo put a hand over his mouth, trying not to laugh at the predicament the so called "Most powerful witch on the Boiling Isles" has found herself in.
"Don't feel bad, Mom. Everyone goes soft once in a while" Zeo reassured. However, he was still struggling to keep a straight face… emphasis on struggling.
"Yeah, I mean, look at this cute little baby" Luz said in a cutesy tone, scratching the baby's cheek. This, however, caused the baby to somehow gag up two more babies.
"Gross!" Zeo cringed. That's when the babies flew up, one of them spitting fire on the couch. Luckily, everyone jumped out of the way. "Good luck handling this, Mom" Zeo told Eda.
"Good luck with your life lessons!" Luz called out as she and Zeo ran out the front door, just as one of the babies spat up some green stuff on the wall.
The Library…
It was midnight and Luz and Zeo were at the library just as they had planned.
"Ok, these are Amity's older siblings. Let's try to be cool" Luz said to Zeo, who was leaning against a wall with his arms folded.
"I have the blood of the Owl Lady coursing through my veins. I'm already cool" Zeo smirked.
"Hey" the turned to see the twins arriving, "Glad you two could make it!" Edric said.
"Especially you, Zeo" Emira added with a wink.
Luz giggled as Zeo grumbled.
"How are we supposed to get in?" Luz asked, pointing to the locked door.
"It says "No Trespassing", but I'm allergic to the rules" Edric said as he pulled out a piece of paper.
"And dairy" Emira added as her twin placed the paper on the door.
"Wow, ok. Just expose me" Edric said. That when the paper glowed, opening up the door with magic. The four of them then went in, "Look, it's the Wailing Star!" Edric pointed to the stain glass window.
The sound of a child's cry could be heard, the star's light shining through the window as it flew by. Staring at directly at the star, it was in this moment that Zeo's eyes began to glow with a white light.
"Uh, Zeo, is everything alright?" Luz asked.
Zeo shook his head, "Huh? Yeah, I'm alright" he said, rubbing his head.
"Uh, dude, your pocket's glowing" Edric pointed out.
"Huh?" Zeo pulled out his cards.
In a bright flash of light, Thunder Snake, the Lizard Brothers and Knight Owl came out.
"Whoa!" Luz said with amazement.
"That's new" Zeo added.
"O… M… G! Those lizards are so cute!" Emira said, rushing up to the lizard brothers.
"I guess the magic from the Wailing Star must have triggered their awakening" Zeo assumed.
"Your cards aren't the only things that were effected" Luz said, pointing behind them, showing that the books in the library were all glowing with a similar light.
The four checked out the books. The magic of the star had brought the books to life when opened. Even a book called Snowballs: A History fired a barrage of snowballs when opened. Luz then noticed something.
"Hey, look, it's the book Amity was reading to those kids" Luz said, opening the book, allowing an astral projection of its titular and adorable protagonist to appear.
The Owl House…
The Bats were flying around with Eda, King and Razor-dillo taking cover.
"What silences children? What if we invent a TV network for ages six to eleven?" King started.
"That's insane. Aah, there's only one way out of this. Hey, Razor guy" she called out to Razor-dillo. Razor-dillo walked up to Eda, placing his paws on her thighs, "I don't suppose you'd be willing to let me use those blades on your back to cut this…" she held up an apple, "Would you?"
Razor-dillo thought about it for a moment. He gave a light lick to the back of Eda's hand before activating the sawblades on his back.
"Thanks" Eda said, being careful as she used the sawblades to cut up the apple, and then placed the slices on a plate, "Alright, brats" she pulled out a book, "Let's do this" she said as she sat Indian style, King and the babies gathering around her in a semicircle and Razor-dillo lying down in her lap, Eda being careful not to touch the creature's blades, "Ugh. Being parental is making me sick…" Eda groaned, "… "Otabin spent his days alone amongst the many books he'd sewn. With needle and thread…"…" she started reading.
The Library…
"… "the pages he mend. But all the while he longed for a friend."" Luz read.
"Friend?" an astral version of the titular character appeared.
Knight Owl licked his lips in hunger.
"Don't even think about it, buddy" Zeo placed a hand on the bird's wing.
"This story is so sweet. No wonder Amity seemed to take joy from reading it to those kids" Luz said, wiping a tear from her eye. It was then that Edric decided to write in the book.
"What are you doing?" Zeo asked, raising an eyebrow.
What resulted was Otabin with a menacing looking face and claws. A clawed hand then started coming out of the book. Zeo quickly closed the book.
"I don't think we should let that out" Zeo said, Luz agreeing.
"Whatever. We didn't come here just to doodle" Emira said, carelessly tossing the book away, "Come on" she said, she and Edric leading them to a different section of the library.
Unbeknownst to any of them, the book had landed facedown and open. I growl had let out from the opened book.
They all arrived at the romance section.
"Oh, wow. Boiling Isles romance. That's totally lame" Luz said sheepishly, "I mean, unless you guys are into it?" she asked.
"Smooth, Luz" Zeo said with a sarcastic monotone, "What the hell are we doing here anyway?" he asked the twins.
"There's a special book we need, handsome" Emira said, hugging him and pressing her cheek against his, causing him to blush. Edric then pulled a book off the shelf, causing a secret door to open.
"The hell?" Zeo questioned.
"Wow! That's a good book. Your clubhouse is like my ultimate secret hideaway" Luz said with a hint of excitement.
"We don't hangout in the library" Edric scoffed.
"I didn't think so" Zeo spoke.
"This is Amity's secret hideaway" Emira told them.
"Mittens has gotten too full of herself. She keeps tattling on us when we cut class" Edric said.
"She needs to learn not to mess with people like that. So, we're going to find her diary…" Emira began.
"And then post the pages all around school for everyone to see" Edric finished, he and his twin laughing.
"Dude, that is messed up!" Zeo told them.
"Yeah, isn't that taking a bit too far?" Luz asked in agreement.
"No. See, we're her family. It's tough love. She needs to learn to lighten up" Emira told them.
"Tough love or payback?" Zeo asked in a mutter.
"Wait, are those…" Luz spotted something that made her squeal with glee, "Good Witch Azura books one through four! You get these on the Boiling Isles?" she ran over to the collection, "So majestic. Is this cover hand-drawn?" she asked pulling out one of the books.
"So, she likes the same kind of books as you? Funny" Zeo chuckled, joining Luz as she opened the book. An astral version of Amity came out of the book.
"I saw that human girl again…" Astral Amity began, "I may have overreacted. I don't wanna come as cruel. I just can't show weakness" she said.
"Oh, crap!" Zeo quickly shut the book.
"You found it! Perfect!" Edric said.
"I'm not letting you do this to your sister…" Zeo took the book from Luz, placing it under his arm, "Sure, she can be a total bitch, but even she doesn't deserve this" he told them.
It was then that Thunder Snake and the Lizard Brothers came up to run interference. The reptiles hissed. It was at this point Amity came across the room.
"Really?" Amity said.
"Uh-oh…" Luz said, upon realizing that it looked like she and Zeo were stealing her diary.
"Amity, this is not what it looks like" Zeo tried to reassure her. Amity, however, just got mad.
"I'd expect this from you two…" Amity looked at her siblings, "But you guys?" she looked at Luz and Zeo.
"This isn't going to end well for us" Luz whispered before handing Amity the diary.
"I've been trying to figure out what you're deal is. Are you a poser? A nerd? I know. You're a bully, Luz" Amity said, walking away.
"That's a bit ironic, coming from her…" Zeo said.
"Amity, wait!" Luz shouted, following her.
"I hope you two are happy" Zeo looked at the Blight twins.
"Looks like Mittens killed the fun again" Edric shrugged. The twins started to walk away.
"Where the hell are you two going?!" Zeo asked.
"Goblin-tipping" They replied, only to have their path blocked by Knight Owl.
"Ok, you have two choices. Either you can help us make up with Amity or my owl friend can tear you apart and eat your remains" Zeo told them, a threatening tone in his voice during that second part.
"What was the first choice again?" Edric asked.
"Amity, wait" Luz called out, catching up to the younger Blight sibling.
"First you embarrass me. Then you want to be my friend? I don't get you. Pick a side" Amity told her.
"Please, just listen to me" Luz pleaded.
"Just go away before things somehow get worse" Amity told her with an edge of annoyance.
That's when they heard loud footsteps. Suddenly, Otabin appeared. However, this time it was a monstrous version of him.
"Otabin?" Amity asked in horror.
"With claws and fangs and breaking bones, I found a friend to make my own" Otabin chanted before grabbing Amity.
"Amity!" Luz said.
"Luz!" Amity called out the girl's name.
Amity grunted as she struggled in the rabbit beast's grasp. Otabin then put her on a page of large book. He then took out a large needle and thread and started sewing Amity into said book, evident by her arm turning as flat as paper.
"Why are you doing this? I've been reading you since I was a kid. I know you're not like this. Someone changed you" Amity told her.
"But friends are what I've always sought. And now a friend my claws have caught" Otabin said.
That's when a figure in a white wizard hat and robe appeared, a book in hand. Amity gasped.
"Azura?" Amity asked.
"Close…" the figure raised their head, revealing to be Luz in an Azura outfit, "Is it drawn ok? I kind of interpreted the descriptions—"
"Luz!" Amity yelled.
"Ah, right…" Luz started writing in the book, "The good witch, Luzura, grabs her trusty staff" she pulled a staff with a crystal on top out of the book, "Alright, beloved work of children's fiction…" Luz pointed her staff at the monster, "Let her go!" she demanded.
Luz yelled and grunted as she swung her staff around, only for Otabin to catch it between his thumb and index finger. He then took the book from Luz, causing her outfit to disappear. Luz chuckled nervously.
"Not an Azura fan, are you?" she asked nervously. She then found herself in the book next to Amity.
"Making friends, taking friends, never be without my friends" Otabing chanted.
"You fiend. You can't rhyme friends with friends" Luz told him.
"Great work, Luzura" Amity said sarcastically.
"Hey, you can't blame a girl for trying, right?" Luz said, chuckling, "Oh, if only"
"Command Card: Feather Knife Storm!" They heard a voice shout as razor sharp feathers flew through the air.
The feathers sailed through Otabin. Everyone looked up to see Zeo riding on Knight Owl in the air.
"What the? Where did that giant bird come from?" Amity asked, while Luz simply smiled at the sight.
"Don't worry, ladies, your hero's here to save you" Zeo said as Knight Owl used his beak to free the girls, "Just to be clear, I'm talking about me" he added.
"Oh, Zeo, am I glad to see you!" Luz said happily.
"Where are Edric and Emira?" Amity asked.
"They're a bit tied up at the moment" Zeo answered.
[Cutaway]
The twins had been frozen in a block of ice, courtesy of Frost Lizard. He, Magma Lizard and Thunder Snake were keeping a watchful eye on them.
[End of Cutaway]
The girls had been set free.
"And just to be a dick…" Zeo pulled out a card, "Command Card: Lunar Victory!" he tossed the card into Knight Owl's head.
The bird then launched a white energy ball at the children's book, vaporizing it. Otabin yelled as he vanished as well. Zeo chuckled.
"Are you two alright?" Zeo asked Luz and Amity.
"Yeah, thanks to you" Luz replied, hugging him which caused him to blush.
The trio had returned to the frozen twins. Zeo looked at Magma Lizard and nodded. The fire reptile used its flames to melt his brother's ice, setting the twins free.
"I believe you two have something to say to Amity, because if you don't…" Zeo said, only to let Knight Owl's intimidating figure to do all the talking.
"We're sorry, Amity…" The twins said.
"For?" Zeo asked, once again letting Knight Owl do all the talking.
"For threatening to post your diary all over the school" they said, hanging their head.
"You what?!" Amity said, preparing to go all out on her siblings, only for Luz to hold her back.
"Trust me, they aren't worth it!" she told her.
"Thanks again for saving us, Zeo" Luz said as they exited the library,
"How did you know we were in trouble anyway?" Amity asked.
"I followed your voices. That and the trail of books" Zeo answered Plus, I just had a feeling" he added.
"Cool" Luz beamed as Amity started leaving, "Wait!" Luz called out, "I know it won't make up for what just happened, but I thought it would be nice to let you borrow this…" she said, handing her Good Witch Azura book 5, "I noticed you only had up to four" she said.
"Thanks. Maybe you aren't a bully. I haven't exactly been nicest witch either. I'll try to think about that" Amity said, "And Zeo?" she looked at the boy.
"Hm?" he looked back at her.
"You aren't a failure. Not if you're able to control those beasts like that" Amity told him, Zeo nodding in agreement before she walked off.
"Well, that was interesting" Zeo said before being struck with a headache.
"Zeo? Are you alright?" Luz asked with some concern.
"Ahh…" Zeo groaned lightly, "Yeah, I'm alright" he replied.
"Hey Zeo" the twins greeted him
"What do you two want?" Zeo asked.
"We just want to let you know we're going to try to be nicer to Amity" Edric said.
"Good" Zeo nodded.
"See you around, you two" Edric said as he left.
Emira walked up to Zeo. She cupped his further cheek in her hand, brought him in and kissed his closer cheek.
"Mm-mwah. See you around, sweet cheeks" she whispered to him flirtatiously.
She looked over her shoulder at him as she walked away, giving him a wink. She turned her head forward. As she walked, Zeo could see she was putting a sway into her hips. Luz giggled at that as Zeo blushed.
"Let's head home" Zeo said.
The Owl House…
Zeo and Luz had returned to see Eda and King asleep on the couch, Eda cradling the babies in her arms. Razor-dillo was asleep on Eda's stomach.
"Huh. I guess mom does have what it takes to take care of babies" Zeo whispered to Luz.
"Aww, it's so cute!" Luz beamed.
Just then the door opened, a large, black-haired, bat-like woman head appearing.
"Let me guess, you're Bat Queen" Zeo said.
"Yeah, that is I" Bat Queen replied in confirmation.
She then whistled, waking her babies who flew from Eda's arms and into their mother's hair. Bat Queen then hacked up a chest full of gold pieces, as well as a whistle.
"For troubles. Eda is owed one" Bat Queen said before flying off with her babies.
"Eww…" Zeo muttered with disgust at the whistle. He then took several handfuls of the coins and quickly stuffed them into his pockets.
"Aww, sweet babies" Eda muttered in her sleep, "Babies?" she jolted awake to see the babies gone, "Where are the babies?" she asked.
"Bat Queen came and picked them up" Zeo told her.
"Sorry. But, hey, check out this loot she left" Luz said, "And this cool whistle. Just make sure to wash it before you use it" she added, looking at the item with disgust.
"Was Razor-dillo any help?" Zeo asked.
Razor-dillo then chattered, which to Zeo's amazement, he understood as "If you count being used as an apple cutter helping, then yes"
"I brought you this" Luz handed Eda a book, one about dealing with empty nest syndrome.
"Thanks, kid" Eda smiled. She shot Zeo a quick glance.
"You gonna be ok, Mom?" Zeo asked.
Still not used to being called that, Eda flinched, "Yeah, sure"
"By the way, what track did you take when you were in school?" Zeo asked.
"Potions, why?" Eda replied.
:Just curious. Razor-dillo, return!" Zeo said, his creature returned to him as a card, "I'm glad Razor-dillo could help you, however minor it may have been" he said.
Zeo was then struck with another headache. He collapsed to one knee while clenching his head.
"Whoa. Zeo, are you alright?" Luz asked.
Zeo groaned, "I think the light from that magic star did something" Zeo replied.
Eda walked up to him, kneeling in front of him as she took his face into her hands and gazed into his eyes "Hmm. Did you stare directly into the star?" Eda asked.
"It was obstructed by a stained-glass window, but yes" Zeo said.
"They say staring at the star's light for a long period of time does stuff to people. I'm sure it'll effect you somehow as well, Zeo" Eda spoke, "You stay right there. I might have something for that headache" she said as she walked out of the room.
"Ugh, I hope these headaches aren't frequent" Zeo groaned while rubbing his head.
"You want me to get you some ice?" Luz asked.
"Yeah" Zeo replied, handing her Frost Lizard's card.
"Frost Lizard, arise!" Luz said, summoning the ice elemental lizard, "Could you be a sweetie and help out Zeo with some ice?" she asked, scratching the lizard under his chin.
Frost Lizard chirped. To Luz, it was nothing more than an adorable little noise he and his brother make, but to Zeo, it was "Sure"
Luz removed her hoodie and placed it on the ground. Frost Lizard then formed a ball of ice in his mouth. The ice ball landed on Luz's hoodie before Frost Lizard used his tail to shatter it into pieces. Luz balled up her hoodie, creating a ice pack.
"Here" Luz handed Zeo the artificial ice pack.
"Uhh…" Zeo blushed upon seeing Luz in a gray tank top, her cleavage slightly exposed, "Isn't your hoodie going to get wet?" he asked.
"Don't worry, I'll just have this little guy" she said, holding up Magma Lizard's card, "Dry it off" she reassured, "Here, let me help you" Luz pulled him close, putting the ice pack on his head, "Poor baby" she cooed.
Zeo blushed harder since his face was practically pressed up against her chest.
"Thanks" Zeo said with a hint of embarrassment.
"Ok, Zeo, this should help you with your…" Eda paused upon walking in on what she saw, "I'm not even going to ask" she said, "Luz, give this to Zeo once you two are done cuddling" Eda said teasingly, handing her a purple colored potion.
"Thanks, Eda!" Luz called out.
Zeo sighed. Today was definitely the weirdest day of his life. Well, so far.
And that's the end of this chapter. This was the first time I swapped the order of actual episodes from the show, but it won't be the last. Fitting that I'd update this story on my birthday (hopefully).
If you have ideas for future chapters, say it in a review or feel free to message me.
