Hey guys, here's chapter 8 of Rise of Zeo. Let's see how our card using protagonist saves our favorite human witch. Odds are this'll be a short chapter, enjoy.
"Ahh… After being out there for so long, I needed a good shower" Eda said, pink towel wrapped around her body as she entered the kitchen in pink slippers. Rummaging through, the refrigerator, she pulled out a bottle, "And what better way to relax after a hot shower than a nice cup of apple blood?" she asked rhetorically as she poured the contents of the bottle into her favorite mug.
"Come on…" King groaned, grunting as he hopped into the kitchen, his head and arms free while the rest of his body was still encased in ice.
"Zeo freeze you for doing something stupid?" Eda guessed, smirking and leaning against the refrigerator
"Yeah, pretty much" King said, Eda chuckling to herself as she took a sip of her drink, "That guy has a freaking dragon now?" King asked.
"You mean Frostfire Dragon. Sort of. He has a card that lets him merge his beasts. That dragon of his is a fusion of his Frost Lizard and Magma Lizard" Eda informed him, "Considering you're still alive, I'm guessing Zeo held back and used one of his dragon's weaker moves" she said, taking another sip of her drink.
"Yeah. Luckily, Luz was there to unthaw me" King said.
"Looks like she didn't finish though" Eda commented, forming a spell circle with her finger which casted a spell that melted the ice, "Where is she anyway?" she asked, taking another sip.
"Oh, she got kidnapped by a giant spider" King said casually.
Eda's eyes widened as she did a spit-take.
"What?!" Eda said in surprise.
"She was unthawing me and a giant spider came out of nowhere and took her. Headed straight to the mountains" King told her while shaking the excess water off his body.
"Great, now I have to go save her. And I just got done taking a shower, too!" Eda groaned.
"No, you won't" King told her, "Don't worry, Zeo's already went out to go get her
Eda sighed with some relief, "Well, if anyone besides me can save Luz, it's my clone" she shrugged.
"Clone? Don't you mean son?" King teased.
Eda furrowed her brows as her eyes narrowed. She drew another spell circle which shot out a blue beam that, once again, completely encased the small demon in a block of ice. The Owl Lady drank her apple blood as she walked away, leaving the frozen demon alone in the kitchen.
The Mountains…
"According to the beacon, we should be heading in the right direction" Zeo said as he rode on top of Knight Owl, the armored bird soaring through the night sky, "Ok, buddy, we need to save Luz before she's spider chow" he told the large raptor.
*Hoot* *Hoot* "Poor girl. I hope she's not too scared" Knight Owl said with concern.
"You and me both" Zeo said, rubbing the side of the bird's neck.
Deep within a cave, there were several spider webs along the walls. In the back of the cave was a large spider web, a couple of carcasses stuck to it. Speaking of bodies, a large spider walked in, carrying its latest prey.
"Please don't eat me!" Luz shouted in terror as the giant spider carried her in its mandibles, "Some might say humans tastes like chicken, or whatever you guys say here, but trust me, it's nothing like that!" she said.
The spider then threw her onto its web before spinning her around and wrapping her in sticky webs.
"Oh, what I wouldn't give for some glyphs that are useful in combat. The best my light glyph can do is blind people" Luz muttered.
The spider hissed, its fangs close to Luz's face as they dripped with saliva and venom. Luz shuttered with fear.
"No! Don't eat me or drink my blood! Please!" Luz pleaded, turning her head away with her eyes clenched shut.
A burst of hot air then hit the spider. The giant beast then turned to see Zeo, Knight Owl by his side and the Lion Gauntlet attached to his arm.
"Hey, ugly, release the pretty girl or else!" Zeo told the spider.
"Zeo! Thank goodness!" Luz said as the spider roared at Zeo and Knight Owl, the latter firing back a mighty screech.
"Beast Weapon: Eagle Axe, arise!" Zeo summoned his eagle motif weapon, "Knight Owl, keep that eight-legged abomination distracted while I free Luz" he told the armored bird.
*Hoot* "On it!" Knight Owl said as he flew towards the giant arachnid.
Zeo ran up to the spider's web and cut it with his axe. Luz fell, but he was able to catch her in his arms.
"Happy to see me?" Zeo asked playfully.
"More than you realize" Luz replied, smiling as he cut the wrappings off her body.
"I think it's time we took this thing down" Zeo said, placing Luz on her feet. He looked at the human girl, and then smiled, "And I think I know just who…" he said vaguely.
He pulled out a yellow card. It depicted a young witchling standing on a cliff with her staff raised, the crystal on top shining brightly. It was a level four creature, a twinkling star symbol next to her name which symbolized her as a light attribute.
"Luzura, arise!" Zeo tossed the card.
There was then a flash of yellow light. What was summoned was a witch dressed in white robes along with a white hat, black pants and black boots. She wore purple eyeshadow and twinkling star-shaped earrings. She wielded as white staff with a blue crystal on top and looked remarkably similar to Luz. This was the good witch, Luzura.
The doppelganger looked over her shoulder, smirking at the duo. To say Luz was shocked at what she was seeing was an understatement.
"Wh- hu- wh- I- Huh?!" she asked in shock.
"What do you think, Luz?" Zeo asked.
"But… but… but… how?!" she asked in shock.
"I was inspired by that drawing you had shown King and I earlier to make this card" Zeo told her, "And that's not all…" he held up a card, "Command Card: Mind Meld!" he tossed the card.
"Mind what?" Luz said as the card generated electric energy that connected her to Luzura.
The two girls were brought together in a flash of light. Once the light dissipated, there stood Luzura, her and Luz's clothes having combined. It took a few seconds for Luz to realize what just happened, but once she did, the largest smile ever hit her face.
"3… 2… 1…" Zeo counted down, and then pointed at Luz, who immediately squealed in delight.
"I'm Luzura! I'm Luzura!" Luz cheered, jumping up and down as she released a high-pitched squeal that made Zeo covered his ears.
"You certainly are" Zeo said as Luz admired herself, "And as such, you have all her powers, and as you're the dominant one here, you don't need command cards. Just call out an attack and it will be done" Zeo informed her.
"Ooh!" Luz beamed. She looked at the giant spider and grinned, "Bright Magic Attack!" she cried.
A ball of yellow light shot out of the crystal and headed for the spider. Unfortunately, Knight Owl was still in the middle of a clash with it. Fortunately, his instincts kicked in and he flew out of the way just as the ball hit the spider.
"Oops. Sorry, Knight Owl!" Luz told the beast as he flew.
Knight Owl hooted in a way that said it was ok. He then flew over to Zeo, *Hoot* "Did you really make a card version of Luz?" he asked as they watched Luz approach the spider.
"I figured it would be a nice gesture" Zeo told his ace, "And it seems to have worked. Just look at how happy she is" he pointed out as Luz fired another Bright Magic Attack at the spider, laughing giddily as she did so.
"Spiral Flare Cannon!" Luz shouted.
The crystal on the end of her staff fired a beam of light and energy that shot through the spider's abdomen, causing it to keel over, dead.
"Nice job, Luz" Zeo said.
"Thanks" Luz said, "And thank you so much for this!" she said, hugging Zeo, "I've dreamt of being able to do stuff like this since I was little!" she said with glee, "Ooh, do I have a magic bile sac?!" she asked excitedly.
"Hmm…" Zeo rubbed his chin, "I'm not too sure. Maybe. If you do then it's the half of you that's Luzura" he told her.
"Aww…" Luz hung her head in disappointment.
"Which reminds me. De-Mind Meld!" Zeo shouted. Luz was then split back into herself and Luzura, only for Luz to fall over, "Are you ok?" Zeo asked, picking her up.
"I'm fine, Mr. Giant Gingerbread Man" Luz said in a loopy tone, nuzzling her cheek against his.
"I'll take that as a maybe. Merging with you must take its toll on her" Zeo looked at Luzura, who tilted her head from side to side as a way of saying probably, "And I'm guessing you're mute without her" he said, Luzura replying with a nod, "I wonder if my psychic link will let me speak with you telepathically" he said, Luzura shrugging, "Eh, we'll worry about it later. For now, Luzura return!" Zeo called the doppelganger back into her card form, "Let's get out of here, shall we?" he looked at Knight Owl.
Knight Owl nodded. He bowed his head as Zeo set Luz on his back and took off. Zeo tapped on Knight Owl's head, making the bird stop in midair. He spun his finger in a circle, silently telling the bird to turn around to face the mountains.
"Just for good measure…" Zeo pulled out a Fusion Vortex card, "Fusion Vortex!" he tossed it into the air, merging his Eagle Axe with his Lion Gauntlet. A large cannon in the shape of a griffin then landed in his hands, "Griffin Blaster, ready!" he aimed the weapon at the cave where the spider was, "Fire!" he pulled the trigger, firing an orange sphere of fiery energy. The energy ball hit, causing and explosion that turned the cave into rubble. Zeo blew the smoke off the barrel of the cannon.
*Hoot* "A bit overkill, don't you think? Luz already killed the spider and I didn't sense any others" Knight Owl said.
"Can't be too careful" Zeo replied, "Ok, now let's go home" he said.
The Owl House…
A few minutes later, Knight Owl landed in front of the house. Zeo hopped off the armored bird, carrying Luz on his back. In that moment, Luz started to wake up.
"Uggh… my head" Luz groaned, lifting her head.
"Hey. How you feeling there, Luzura?" Zeo asked with playful concern.
"I had the strangest dream" Luz said, "I was captured by a giant spider monster, and you came in, talked about a new card and—" it was than she realized what Zeo called her, and that she was currently riding on his back, "That wasn't a dream, was it?" she asked.
"Nope" Zeo shook his head, "You actually merged with and became Luzura. You even took down the giant spider" he told her.
"And the part where I was loopy?" Luz asked.
"Yeah, that was a side effect from demerging" he told her.
"Do me a favor. Please keep that part between us" Luz begged him.
"Don't worry, I will" Zeo reassured. He then took out the Luzura card, now fully charged, "But how did it feel? Luzura's one hell of a card, isn't she?"
"Are you kidding? For years I have dreamed of doing stuff like that! And now that I have, I'd just like to say, if the need ever comes again, just toss that Mind Meld card and I'm your girl!" Luz said with glee while climbing off his back.
"Even if you're a bumbling mess afterwards?" Zeo asked.
"Small price to pay for my dreams" Luz answered, "By the way, thanks for saving me back there" she told him.
"Anytime" Zeo smiled. That's when he received a vision. He saw a figure with massive wings, as well as talons on their hands, "Hmm, interesting…" Zeo muttered.
"What is?" Luz asked.
"Uh, nothing. Come on, let's head inside" Zeo said while recalling Knight Owl back into card form. When they walked in, they were greeted by Eda on the couch in her sleepwear.
"There you two are. King told me what happened" Eda said, "You ok, Luz?" she asked her apprentice.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Thanks to Zeo" Luz replied, smiling at the card user.
"That spider didn't stand a chance" Zeo shrugged, "Although, Luz had a moment of her own" he winked at the human, "Anyway, I think it's time for us to head to bed" Zeo said.
"Yeah. Night, Eda" Luz told the Owl Lady as she and Zeo headed upstairs.
"Night, kiddos" Eda replied.
The duo made their way upstairs. Zeo was about to head to his room, when he felt Luz tap his shoulder. He turned to the human girl.
"Hey, Zeo…" Luz sheepishly rubbed her arm, "Do you think I could hold on to Luzura's card? Just for tonight?" she asked.
"Mmm… Sure, I guess" Zeo pulled out the card from his deck. Luz squealed and took the card.
"Thanks" she said before bolting into her room. Zeo sighed with some content.
"Something tells me I'm going to be summoning Luzura a lot in the future" Zeo muttered to himself.
And that's the end of this chapter. Zeo saved Luz, even though Luz was the one that killed the spider. And now Zeo has a new creature in his deck: Luzura. Expect to see her a lot in the future.
Speaking of creatures, if you have ideas for creature cards, don't forget to mention what said creature looks like.
By the way, the Griffin Blaster has the design of a classic eagle/lion griffin, not a pigeon and whatever the other half is that the show has.
Next chapter will be the adaptation of the episode Adventures in the Elements.
