Making the Best of It
Chapter 26
Gotham City- Iceberg Lounge
Within the Penguin's office there were two men. One was young, sitting behind the desk with his feet up. The other wasn't pleased to see him back in Gotham.
The reason for Batman's visit was the Lounge had a change in management.
"Where's Cobblepot?" Batman demanded with his usual gruff.
Jason pulled his feet off his desk. "Around," he shrugged cryptically.
White lenses narrowed in suspicion. "You didn't kill him, did you?"
"Nope," he said casually. "I took a page from your worn-out book," he took a jab at the man, noting that Batman had done nothing to make Gotham safer.
Batman ignored the barb. "Stay out of trouble," he warned, turning to leave.
Jason stared at the man, never losing his smug smirk. "Or what?" the younger man couldn't help himself.
Batman stopped in his tracks and turned back. "I'll stop you," he warned in the tone that he saved for street punks.
"Please," Jason dismissed. "We both know I would expose us all if you tried it," he reminded the man. The reason Red Hood was allowed to operate for so long was because his exposure would shine a light on himself and everyone else in the Family.
With a blank look, Batman retorted, "Don't count on that to save you forever," he dove out the window getting the last word.
"Bye, Dad," Jason uttered nonchalantly. Although, there was a crack in his indifferent expression when he heard exposure would not be a problem much longer. He would have to make a new plan.
Unbeknownst to Batman, Penguin had watched the whole encounter from behind a one-way soundproof window. When Jason made his play for the club, Penguin had holed up in his panic room for safety. Unfortunately, Jason knew about the panic room and locked the puggy man inside. Fortunately, he had plenty of food and water to last him a year. Cobblepot was forced to watch the smug little bastard have his way with his empire. And Jason just loved to rub it in Penguin's pointy nosed face.
Wayne Manor
Bruce awoke after feeling something moving around in his bed. He was just about to open his eyes when he felt something with weight crawl on top of him. Turning with a peeved expression, he was surprised to see his little girl crawling all over him, staring at him with innocent eyes. Her pacifier stuck in her mouth, still in her pajamas.
"Elissa?" he blinked at her in confusion.
To which she blinked back and crawled into his chest, snuggling up at him with trusting eyes.
Sitting against the headboard, he stared at his daughter wondering why she was in his bedroom. Did Diana do it? "Did you have a good night?" he asked Elissa.
She only stared at him, sucking on her pacifier. He watched her for a few moments until she reached for his face. Her little fingers rubbing against the coarse whiskers on his chin.
"Oh, good, you're up!" Diana entered his bedroom, still dressed for bed herself. She sat at the end of the bed watching as Elissa started crawling towards her mother, her pacifier popping out as a big smile was plastered on her little face.
"Mama," she babbled.
"Hello, my love," Diana gushed, taking her daughter into her arms. "Thank you for getting daddy up," she kissed her daughter's chubby cheek, making the little girl laugh, and used her hands to push her mother away.
Bruce just observed the mother-daughter scene wondering why she had Elissa wake him.
Setting her daughter, Diana watched to daughter start crawling all over the bed once again. She had become quite active involving her crawling. The little one enjoyed moving around like a little explorer.
"We should get a leash," Bruce suggested with a smirk.
Whipping her head to the man, Diana rebuked, "Don't even think about it." Her face said it all as he chose not to push his luck.
He watched her use her arm as a sort of gate to keep their daughter from falling off the bed. Wrapping Elissa up in her arms, Diana plopped her back between her parents.
"Why did you have Elissa wake me?" Bruce wondered.
"Don't you know what today is?" she questioned, her head tilting slightly.
"No."
"It's Father's Day, Bruce." She chuckled as she saw his eyebrows arch in shock. "You forgot," she laughed.
"I've… had a lot going on," he reasoned. Time had certainly flown by. He thought it was Mother's Day not that long ago.
"Happy Father's Day, Bruce," the raven-haired woman wished, kissing his cheek chastely as there was a child present.
"Thanks, Diana," he smiled as she pulled away.
They both watched Elissa move around until she settled between her parents on her side.
The three spent an hour in that bed merely conversing with one another. Mostly, gushing over their daughter trying to get her say or do something.
The three stepped into the kitchen to witness Alfred finishing making breakfast. He greeted the three as they started into their routine. Diana started to feed Elissa, after she had wished Alfred a 'Happy Father's Day'.
Bruce was reading the newspaper and having his coffee. Occasionally, he would rub the back of his daughter's head affectionately when she was giving her mother a hard time. Diana had merely smiled as she saw this side of Bruce that rarely anyone ever saw.
Soon Diana finished feeding Elissa and went to get the man his gifts. She had already given Alfred his, a watch, but Elissa had not.
She returned with a wrapped box and a card.
"Here," she handed her boyfriend his gift with a smile.
Politely accepting it, he opened the card and read a heartful message from Diana.
You are a great father. You try and you are there. Never forget that.
Touched, he kissed her.
"Thank you," he said against her lips before pulling away.
"You're welcome," she replied. "But you still have to open up your gift," she inched it closer to him with her fingers.
Chuckling at her anticipation on seeing his reaction to her gift, he decided to open it. It was revealed to be a silver framed photo of him holding Elissa when she was just a few weeks ago.
He looked up at his girlfriend in astonishment. He could not remember if he even had a physical photo of him and his daughter. He was touched that Diana went ahead and had gotten him one.
"Thank you," he said softly. He was deeply touched by the gift. He turned the photo to Elissa, who was gnawing on her pacifier. "Hey," he called for the little girl's attention, to which she gave to him. "Who's this?"
She looked at the photo curiously before she reached for it, instantly wanting it.
Complying, he handed it to her and saw what she did with it.
Her little fingers smudged up the frame as her eyes curiously stared at it. She placed it down on the tray of her highchair finding the picture frame too heavy for her young self.
It was clear she quickly grew borrowed with it. She unceremoniously dropped it onto the tray and curiously stared at her parents as if nothing happened.
Her behavior made them chuckle a bit.
Tim had come back to the manor for Father's Day. He was visiting before he went back to the Ivy League. What had originally been a day to wish well his father figure had turned into an Elissa day. As they could not tear that baby away from him.
Bruce was surprised at how endeared Tim was to Elissa. Their interactions were few as Elissa was little when Tim was introduced to her and needed her naps.
Tim was even kind enough to watch Gotham that night so that Diana could give Bruce a night out.
The billionaire had thought they would have dinner at the manor, but the woman had other ideas. She had wanted to give each other quality time together. They had not seen one another outside of work or barely at home as Elissa was becoming fussy lately and demanded her parents' sole attention.
The Amazon decided that they would go out on a date. Without a baby to kill the romantic mood she was hoping to cultivate.
The pair ended up at a fabulous restaurant in the city. Seated under candlelight as they were happily chatting against themselves.
Diana, all dolled up in spicy sleeveless red dress with matching red high-heels. Diamonds earrings hanging from her ears, along with her glasses. She decided to let her hair down a bit instead of the traditional bun she was known for as Diana Prince. Her magical stone bracelet was her wrist that concealed her identity. Frankly, she doesn't even notice it anymore.
She smiled brightly at the man as she found what he had said humorous.
Her smile made him smile. It was foreign for someone being able to do such a thing to him. He was trying to be better—be a better man for her. He didn't want her to think she downgraded by being with him, even though she would never do such a thing. But she made him doubt himself unconsciously.
The mood was good between them as they haven't brought up their daughter since they sat down. While they loved their little girl more than anything in the world, they knew she alone couldn't keep their relationship together. They had to work at it.
And they were. It helped that they were friends before the baby. It was easy to fall into old habits that helped grow their relationship.
Before things could get better, they were interrupted.
"Bruce? Bruce Wayne?"
Said man looked to a couple of a man and a woman. The man with a look of surprise on his face, while the woman held a look of indifference.
"Oh, hello," the billionaire replied awkwardly. He had no idea who the man was. He completely blanked on the face.
The man began to introduce himself and saying they were in high school together. Bruce could only answer awkwardly as he didn't recognize him. Somehow, they ended up having a double date.
To which, Diana coolly accepted. If only to be polite. When asked if they could, the man revealed that he owned the restaurant.
The two couples seemed to have a nice dinner. Although, it was certainly a little tense in the beginning as the mood was killed between Bruce and Diana.
However, it all grew incredibly tense when the man's lady seemed to say something that caused the man to get angry.
No one could recall or at least understand what she had meant, but the man retaliated.
"Whatever, you're the one with the dildos all over the house!" he said loudly. Bruce and Diana stared at the couple before them with surprised wide eyes. The man's statement earned the looks of other patrons.
The lady wasn't going to take that lying down, although she was feeling a heat of embarrassment from his comment. "Screw you, Derek. At least I don't eat ass!"
It was the man's turn to have his face heat up in embarrassment. Eyes from other patrons were now glued to their table, whispering amongst themselves scandalized. Bruce and Diana were staring at him with shocked expressions.
Sensing the dread of his secrets exposed he tried to defend himself.
"What? What are you saying?" he stammered. He was practically tripping over his words. He saw as Diana pursed her lips, her head tipped down from the awkwardness, brushing her hair away with her hand. His anxiety mounted as he felt everyone's eyes on him. He swore he could hear indistinct whispers. He couldn't deny it as no one would believe him.
Angrily, he tried to defend himself. "First, the only time I ate your ass was your birthday. Let's get that out of the way."
It was her turn to feel embarrassed. She glanced side to side to see eyes on her. Swiftly she tried to discourage him. But he would not listen. "No, no. You want to talk about it let's talk about it!"
"I forgot to get you anything, so you asked if I could eat your ass. Don't make it sound like I'm eating your ass every day of the week!"
Subtlety, Bruce and Diana both pulled their drinks closer to themselves, unfortunately he saw them.
"Oh, you!" he yelled aggressively. "Now they think I've got a dirty mouth because of you!"
After that the whole table was quiet. Diana tried to avoid eye contact desperately while Bruce finished his plate. They could feel eyes on their backs but didn't try to discourage it as it would only draw more attention.
Eventually, dinner ended, and the couples went their separate ways. Surprisingly, the couple tried to get Bruce and Diana to double date with them again. But the dark-haired couple said they would be in touch and departed quickly.
They left the pair with befuddled looks on their faces as they hadn't exchanged phone numbers.
The pair entered Bruce's car just breathing. They hadn't made a move to put their seatbelts on nor put the key into the ignition. Diana had left her purse on her lap, both staring out the windshield.
They stared out the window what felt like forever before they started to chuckle. They chuckled until it turned into full blown laughter as they could not control themselves. What had transpired at dinner was cycling in their minds. They both just felt the whole thing hysterical.
Bruce had slapped the wheel as his insides began to hurt. Diana had tears running down her cheeks.
Slowly their laughter dimmed until it was stopped altogether.
"That… that was…" Bruce was at a loss for words but in a good way.
"Indeed," the woman agreed as her insides ached, and her laughter was about to resurface. She wiped her eyes with her finger.
"I haven't laughed like that in… a long time," the man admitted fondly. He turned his head in her direction with a faint smile on his lips.
The Amazon returned it with a similar smile. "I hope you had a good time," she wished, whipping a few strands of her hair out of her face.
"I did," he asserted, a chuckle in his throat. "Thank you, for the night out."
"Of course," she nodded. "I thought we could give you a night out to ourselves. In retrospect, maybe we should have invited Alfred and the others," she suggested.
"It's fine, Diana. I wanted to spent time with you just the two of us. We haven't seen one another for a bit."
"Sorry," she started, feeling apologetic. "The League has been keeping me busy. Not to mention the Foundation."
"Is it too much?" He feared he was asking too much of her with running the Wayne Foundation.
Shaking her head, she replied, "No, it's just work that has kept me busy, Bruce."
"Did you have a good Father's Day?" she questioned. She felt anxious inside as she was worried it wasn't enough for him.
"I did."
A coy smile tugged at her lips. "Well, I hope you are not too tired because I still have a few more gifts to give you," she claimed.
He looked at his girlfriend with a look of confusion.
Until he felt her hand on his pant-clad thigh. Stroking him back and forth that quickly caused a tight reaction in his trousers.
Oh!
He quickly realized that she had other things to do for him. His heart skipped a beat when she deftly pulled his fly down. As the piece of metal was lowered a shiver ran down his spine.
"Start the car, Bruce." She commanded him sultry, taking off her glasses and leaving them on the console between them.
"Ooo-kay," Bruce stammered as he started the engine.
As the engine started and the car rumbled to life, Diana leaned over. "Take us on a drive," she commanded sultry, lowering her head.
The dark-haired man's eyes rolled in the back of his head as he felt the incredible sensations Diana brought him. It took him a few minutes to concentrate and started driving.
He drove around the city for a while, desperately trying to focus on the road instead of the gorgeous woman, whom had her lips around him.
He was stunningly surprised by her. He did not think she would do such a thing out in public. She was used to her being prime and proper professionally but when they were alone, her tastes seemed more vanilla in flavor. How wrong he was. Seemed she had more erotic tastes or at least testing further levels of intimacy.
Either way he welcomed it.
His grunts and winces seemed to spur the Amazon on as she tingled by being so salacious. They may have been inside a car, but they were still in public. The fact someone could see them—see her only made it more delightful.
The fact that Bruce couldn't keep his hand off her head only encouraged her. His thick fingers running through her hair, patting her head made surge with pride.
The billionaire had parked the car on the roof of an above ground parking garage. He couldn't take what his girlfriends was doing to him anymore.
He desired her. He needed her. She went out of her way to make tonight special, it would rude not to partake in it. Honest.
From a far the car rocked, the windows fogged up. Moans and grunts emanating from the car.
Bruce was enraptured by the Amazon as she straddled him. His shirt was unbuttoned revealing his sculpted body riddled with scars, his tie was lying somewhere inside. Her lovely dress was pulled down, bundled under her bare breasts that bounced with every motion as she rode his lap frantically. Her underwear hanging loosely from her left ankle, her red heels left abandoned on the floor of the passenger seat.
Her whimpering in his ear, her hot breath on his neck whenever he struck the right spot that made her swoon encouraged him to thrust faster. Her closing ranks on him internally and with her arms didn't help him stave off release.
He soon forgot who was really pulling their weight in their coupling as it seemed like she was the one taking him rather than the other way around.
His grunts were like music to the woman as their carnal desire for one another made her all too eager to press forward. Her moaning came out like a banshee screaming as she had previously tried to stifle them but when he started to nibble on her ear, she lost all restraint.
Their pace was frantically on the edge as soon as Diana ran her tongue along his throat, he lost it. With several guttural grunts he exploded inside her deeply, a satisfied sigh escaped him as his ridge body started to relax. He felt Diana soon join him.
She languidly slumped against him, her head on his shoulder panting heavily. Their sweat gluing them tighter together. The only sound within the car was the sound of their own panting and the pounding of their hearts withing their chests.
Slowly, after they enjoyed the afterglow of their coupling, Diana pulled back with a small smile on her red lips. "So, did you like your other gift?" she asked coyly, a fine eyebrow raised smugly.
"Yes," the dark-haired man chuckled. "Very unexpected," he noted.
Unfortunately, Diana took it the wrong way. "Was—Was it too much?" she inquired self-consciously. Her hand pulling her sweaty hair away from her face.
"No," he assured, cupping her cheek. He pulled her close kissing her passionately. It quickly heated up to the point where they were going to go for another round.
"Okay!" she pulled away suddenly, catching her breath. "That's enough for now," she told him.
"What brought this on anyway?" the man questioned curiously.
To which his girlfriend's cheeks turned rosy. "I wanted to spice things up between us," she confessed, acting bashfully. Playing with her hair and being unable to meet his eyes. "I always had this little fantasy about being with you in a car. Of course, it was the batmobile that I wanted to take you for a spin in," she admitted coyly as her confidence returned.
"Well, maybe next time," Bruce alluded to the possibility of a repeat. To which he brought a sultry smile to the Amazon.
"I look forward to it," she whispered into his ear before kissing his cheek. She nuzzled into his neck as they held one another closely enjoying the moment of peace between them.
Suddenly, a self-conscious Diana asked, "Am I trying too hard?" She pulled away to look at him expectantly for an honest answer.
Bruce stared into her cobalt eyes for what felt like an eternity to the demi-goddess, until…
"We both are," he admitted honestly. "I'm not going anywhere, Diana." He promised confidently.
"Neither am I," she agreed.
Soon they pulled apart as they had to get back home. As much as Diana was excited by their little adventure, she was quite exposed.
She slid across the console and back into the passenger seat, tugging her underwear back on and fixing her dress just as Bruce started the car up. The drive home was in relative silence as the two were comfortable with the verbal commitment to one another.
Wayne Manor
Bruce stepped into Elissa's room silently, his footfalls nonexistent out of habit than anything else. Of course, the fact his daughter was fast asleep gave him an incentive to be extra silent. Diana had hopped into the shower when they had arrived home. So, Bruce thought he would pop in to check on their daughter. He wanted to end this Father's Day by having his daughter be the last person he saw that night.
He peaked over the railing of the crib and was taken aback by the sight of his daughter's gorgeous blue eyes that she no doubt inherited from her mother staring back at him.
Blue met blue in a silent unintended stare down. Elissa curiously stared at her father quietly. Blinking every so often, sucking on her pacifier, her pink and white blanket wrapped snuggly around her, pulled up to her chin.
When he tilted his head, so did she. When he blinked his eyes, she copied him.
He snorted in amusement before he reached in and picked his little girl up. "Okay," he grunted, "why are you up past your bedtime?" He bounced her and instinctively latched onto him with her tiny arms. "Hmm?" he hummed questioningly.
She cooed softly, placing her head onto his shoulder.
Smiling, her father uttered, "I love you too." His affection for her evident in his voice.
He took a seat in the rocking chair in the corner of her room and started to rock her.
He just sat there rocking her, staring at her with kind eyes. She returned his gaze with innocent trusting eyes.
"I love you," he said softly. He pressed a kiss to the top of her head, dark curls started to grow past her eyes.
He made a silent vow once again to keep her safe. To keep the world of Batman from tainting her innocent life. He had made many mistakes with the other children that had walked through the door of Wayne Manor. Elissa would be different. He would give her everything that he was incapable of giving the others.
He saw her eyes begin to droop.
He would be better.
He swore to his little girl.
He stood and gently placed her back in her crib.
He gave a side-long glance to the giant teddy bear in the corner of the room. It was then that he felt the loss of Dick reemerge inside him. He thought it would be nice to hear from him but not anymore.
He wished him well even if it hurt so much that he was lost to him.
He careful wrapped Elissa up in her blanket and let her sleep peacefully.
NEXT: Carnival
I was watching Kevin Hart's I'm a Grown Little Man, so I thought I would add a funny couple-based joke into the story, seeing as some humor could be used. I hope you found it funny. If not, my bad.
