Chapter 2 Both worlds
Author's note; Plotline: Annie and Irene enter the magic ocean; meanwhile Rachel and Trish discover their new powers.
Annie opened her eyes. She looked around and saw she was in mermaid form, and under water.
She looked over at Irene, her blond hair stood up from floating in the water. She was still unconscious.
"Irene" said Annie.
Irene opened her eyes groggily, and looked over at Annie.
"Annie?" she groaned. She then started to look around and saw they were underwater.
"Where are we?" asked Irene in shock.
They looked around, nothing looked familiar.
"Remember that portal that appeared in the moonpool?" asked Annie. Irene nodded. "The portal must've brought us here."
"But where did it take us?" asked Irene. "And how did it just appear?"
"It must've happened when we got moon spelled," said Annie thoughtfully. "While we were under the affect of the full moon."
"Who are you two?" said a voice.
The girls turned around to see a mermaid around their age. She had golden brown hair and wore a gold headband.
"I'm Annie," said Annie. "This is Irene."
"Who are you?" Asked Irene.
"I'm princess Celina," said the mermaid. "Fifth born daughter of king Morrow and queen Thelxiepeia, the king and queen of the mermaids."
Annie and Irene were speechless.
"Is this the oceanic world?" asked Annie.
"Yes," said Celina. "I'll take you to my family's castle."
Annie looked a little unsure.
"Of course, your highness!" said Irene looking more excited to meet royal mermaids.
Celina led the two girls across the ocean. It was like any ordinary ocean, there was coral and lots of fish of many colors.
Annie and Irene were amazed to see an underwater city, there were mermaids swimming about. The girl mermaids had copper tails and bikinis and the male mermaids had blue tails.
But the most wonderous sight was the castle. It was in various shades of blue. Annie and Irene starred at each other in amazement and swum after Celina.
…
"So, you're saying Annie and Irene got sucked into a portal and are in the oceanic world?!" exclaimed Parker.
"Yes," said Rachel. "And Trish and I fell into the moonpool and we're mermaids now."
"How do we get them back from the oceanic world?" asked Parker. He felt very worried for his girlfriend.
"We don't know," said Rachel. "Mrs. Wellington is looking through her spell book. But now I'm trying to find out what my powers are!" she added excitedly.
Rachel ran into Parker's house and he followed her.
"You mean you haven't discovered your powers yet?" asked Parker.
"No," said Rachel. "Neither has Trish."
…
Meanwhile over at Trish's house, Trish was getting up. As she had gotten out of bed, she remembered last night, when she and Rachel fell into the moonpool and the portal that took Irene and Annie into a magical world.
Trish went downstairs, Mr. Callahan was cooking at the stove and Mrs. Callahan and her sisters were sitting at the table eating chocolate chip pancakes. Trish sat down at the table and said good morning.
Her father put a plate of pancakes and a glass of tangerine juice in front of her.
"Thanks dad," said Trish.
"Are you okay Trish?" asked her father.
"Yeah mom," said Trish. "I'm just a little tired."
"I've got ballet in ten minutes mom," said Cat.
"I'll drive you on my way to work," said Mrs. Callahan.
Mrs. Callahan and Cat left in the Lexus, and Mr. Callahan went out on to the balcony to do some work. He owned a small architect business; he had even designed the house they lived in. Elaine got up and went to go work on her geography project.
Trish ate her pancakes and looked at her glass of tangerine juice. She held out her hand to see if the liquid would do anything. The juice suddenly started to lift out of the glass and turned into a gelatin substance.
Trish stared in surprised, dropping her hand. The substance went all over the table turning back into juice, making Trish gasp.
Trish started to wipe up the mess and then she grabbed her cellphone.
…
"Trish texted," said Rachel. "She found her power, she can control substances. I wish I knew what my power was."
"Annie has different powers because she was in the moonpool alone," reminded Parker. "Irene was born with ice powers and Trish only has substance powers because there were two of you in the pool."
Rachel put her cellphone down on the table.
Parker went a got some glasses of water, water sloshed out of the glass and went all over the table.
Rachel held her hand out and suddenly, the water started making steam. The two friends stared in surprise and watched as the water evaporated.
"You have heat powers!" said Parker.
Rachel held her hand out at the water in the glasses, the water started bubbling and sloshed on to the table.
Rachel put her hand down and the water stopped bubbling. She then picked up her cellphone and texted Trish.
I just found my power too; I have heat powers.
…
Celina led Annie and Irene inside the castle and into a throne room. The room was purple and the lavender throne resembled a seashell. Sitting on the throne was a male mermaid with reddish-brown hair and a short beard wearing a gold crown.
Next to him was a mermaid with blond hair and wore a tiara with pearls and diamonds.
"Annie, Irene," said Celina. "These are my parents, king Morrow and queen Thelxiepeia, and my sisters Lacey, Anemone, Jade, Layla and my younger sister Tessa."
Lacey the oldest had blond hair just like her mother, and her hair had shells in it. Anemone and Jade had the same reddish-brown hair as their father, and Layla and Tessa had light brown hair. Unlike Lacey, their hair was longer and they wore headband crowns like Celina. Each sister looked a year apart from each other.
"Mom, dad, these are my friends Annie Yesconis and Irene Frost," said Celina presenting the two girls. Annie and Irene bowed down towards the royal family.
"Irene Frost?" said the king, his eyes widening. "As in from the Frost clan?"
Irene nodded proudly. "Pleased to meet you your majesty," she said bowing down at Morrow shaking his hand. "I am from the Frost clan, one of the oldest, respected pods in the human world." She added proudly.
Although she and Annie were on friendlier terms now, Irene loved to make herself superior to her. same old Irene Annie thought to herself.
"I've heard of you Annie," said Lacey. "You're that mermaid who saved the world from the sea witch."
"Yes," said Annie. "I wasn't born a mermaid like you all though; I fell into a moonpool during a full moon."
"It's okay Annie," said Thelxiepeia sympathetically. "There are lots of humans who have fallen in moonpools over the years and become mermaids."
"What are you two doing here anyway?" asked Tessa.
"Well," said Annie. "Irene and I got moonspelled, and this portal appeared in the moonpool and we fell in."
"Do you know how we can get back into our world?" asked Irene.
"You must've recited the words to open the portal while you were moon spelled," said Thelxiepeia. "The portal opens up in the moonpool on the full moon when it's above the moonpool."
"Can we make another portal to get home?" asked Annie.
"The portal is very mystical," Morrow replied. "It comes whenever it feels like opening. In order to make the portal, we'll have to find a way to open it again."
Annie and Irene exchanged worried looks, they would be stuck in the oceanic world until they could get the portal open again. They were worried for both their friends and family, and Annie was especially worried about Parker.
Author's note; the name Morrow means sea warrior in Scottish. Also, did I pick good powers for Rachel and Trish?
