Chapter 16 Queen of Avalon

Author's note; Summary: The gang plan to stop Ava for good; in character's past, the king and queen of sidhes have a baby princess.

A young sidhe was walking through the moors of Avalon. She had long flowing auburn hair and wore a light-yellow gown.

She saw a male sidhe dressed in red robes.

"Hello there," she said bowing down to the fellow sidhe. "Who are you?"

"I'm prince Phillip," said the sidhe. "I'm the prince of sidhes and Avalon."

"I didn't expect to see the prince so far outside of the royal court on his own," teased the female sidhe.

"I needed some time alone to think," said Phillip. "As the future king of Avalon my parents have betrothed me to a sidhe named Clio. She comes from a noble sidhe family like I do, but I've never spoken to her."

"Really?" said the sidhe interestedly. "You know, we're not strangers, you can always tell me anything."

"Thanks," said Phillip smiling. "What's your name?"

"Ava" said the sidhe.

Annie and Rachel were at a Dairy queen with Muffy. Annie was eating a smarties blizzard. A few days had passed since Susannah's funeral.

"So," said Muffy eating a fry and then taking a sip of her iced tea. "How's Mrs. Wellington doing?"

"She's doing a bit better," admitted Annie. "But it's still a lot for her to take in. She just lost her oldest friend."

When Annie and Rachel told the other girls that about Mrs. Wellington's friend died, but they just told them that Susannah died in an accidental fall. Muffy and the others of course showed their respects to Mrs. Wellington

"I can't understand what she was doing in the church" said Muffy.

Annie and Rachel weren't really sure what to tell Muffy.

"She was probably looking for something" Rachel lied.

Just then Annie's cellphone went off. She looked at it, it was a message from Mrs. Wellington.

Meet me in the woods near the portal to Avalon.

Rachel's went off a second later.

"Sorry Muffy," said Annie quickly, getting up. "I have to go, my dad just called."

"Mine too" added Rachel grabbing the rest of her burger and running after her friend.

The two girls arrived in the woods, they were surprised to see Mrs. Wellington was there with Melora, king Phillip, Forget me not and a few other sidhes. Two of the sidhes were drawing something on the ground.

"Mrs. Wellington," said Annie. "What's going on?"

"King Phillip was visiting me this morning," explained Mrs. Wellington. "He says the sidhe council has found a way to defeat Ava."

The girls looked at the symbol the sidhes were making on the ground. It looked like a star with twelve points. They were drawing with a white chalky powder.

"What is that?" she asked.

"It's a star symbol," explained Phillip. "It's part of a spell, we've decided that we have to take drastic steps to stop Ava. We're going to strip her of her powers, so she can't harm anyone anymore."

"Strip her powers?" asked Rachel.

Just then Irene, Trish, Kelsey, Celina and Sean arrived.

"We got your message," said Irene. "Why'd you want us here?"

"King Phillip and his court has an idea of how to stop Ava," explained Rachel. "They're going to strip her powers."

"It's for the best," Forget me not jumped in. "If Ava's powers are striped, she'll become a mortal and can't harm anyone again."

"Magic beings stand on each point," explained the king. "Ava stands in the middle of the star and we recite the spell and we recite it until her powers are removed."

"It's finished your highness" said a female sidhe. She wore a pink dress with a red dress and double hennin.

"Thank you," said Phillip appreciatively. "Now we just have to find Ava and get her on the star. I sent some scouts out to look for her."

Just then a sidhe appeared behind them. She had blond hair and wore a blue gown and lighter blue cape with gold wheat pattern.

"Lady Illiris," said Phillip. He was surprised to see the sidhe return. "Have you seen Ava?"

"Yes, I have," said Illiris. "I was barely able to get away from her."

Just then Illiris transformed into Ava wearing a yellow dress and a gold cape.

"Ava!" cried Celina.

Ava laughed evilly. "She's dead your majesty" she declared.

"Guys," cried Annie. "Let's get her."

Annie and Rachel unleashed fire at Ava. Ava stepped back to avoid the fire and stepped on to the center of the star. Phillip quickly got on one of the points and the other sidhes joined him.

"Kaloume tis megales dynameis na afairesete tis exouise aftou tou ontos," A beam of white light shot from his chest and struck Ava. "Afairesete tis exouise!"

"Afairesete tis exouise" the other sidhes joined. A white beam shot from their chests too and struck Ava. Ava started kneeling down weakly and screamed in pain.

"Afairesete tis exouise," they continued chanting. "Afairesete tis exouise."

Ava held her hands out in an attempted to fight back. Just then she unleashed a ball of fire at a male sidhe. He exploded.

Ava laughed evilly and unleashed lightning bolts at two other sidhes, they exploded too.

Annie and the others stared in horror. The remaining sidhes scattered away and Ava disappeared.

Phillip walked under a tree on the moors. Just then a blue skinned sidhe flew down and transformed into human form.

"Hello Ava" said Phillip smiling.

"Hello Phillip" replied Ava softly.

The two young sidhes had secretly became friends in the past few months. Ava was becoming quite interested in the prince.

"Have you met this princess Clio yet?" she asked interestedly.

"Not yet," replied Phillip. "We're going to be introduced soon. But I'm a little nervous about marrying a sidhe I've never met."

"You don't have to be royalty to be in love," said Ava sweetly with a flirtatious smile. She wanted the prince to be in love with her and was trying to win him over.

"I know," said Phillip chuckling and sighed. He liked Ava, she was someone who he could trust his secrets with.

"I think I should call off my engagement with Clio and marry you," said Phillip.

Ava's eyes widened.

"You would?" she said trying to act surprised.

"I feel like I love you," said Phillip. "You're someone I can trust when I need someone to talk to."

"I'd love to be your queen!" cried Ava excitedly.

"Then I'll tell my parents that I'm calling the engagement off with Clio when she comes by this afternoon. I have to get back to the castle, they'll be coming soon."

He turned into sidhe form, like Ava he had blue skin and he flew off.

"Goodbye!" called Ava.

A little later at the castle a beautiful silver carriage pulled up at the castle and out stepped a family of sidhes. The male sidhe wore a white tunic and black jacket and had dark brown hair that was almost black.

A female sidhe had her arm wrapped around her husband's. She had golden hair and wore a white dress with flowing sleeves.

The other female walked ahead. She had golden hair just like her mother and wore a light pink top with darker pink sleeves and skirt and a band at the waist, and wore a cone shaped hat.

Like the other sidhes, Clio was extremely young and beautiful, but a look of astound came upon the prince's face.

"Phillip," said the king. "May I present you your bride to be marquess Clio and her parents marque Edwin and marquess Anastasia.

"It's a pleasure to meet you your highness" said Clio curtsying. She spoke in a soft childish like voice.

"A pleasure I'm sure" said Phillip politely, bowing down in return. He wanted to tell her and his parents that he was interested with someone else, but he had a feeling over this sidhe that he liked.

Time passed and Phillip and Clio were growing closer. Philip admired Clio's kind and sweet heart. She loved nature and animals and also had an interest in the human world. He had been so attracted to Clio, he had forgotten his ideas of calling their betrothal off and he hadn't told Ava.

One day he met up with Ava.

"Hey there your highness," said Ava in her usual cheerful and flirty voice. "Have you been able to convince your parents to call off the engagement to Clio so we can be together?"

"There's something I have to tell you Ava," said the prince. He struggled to find the words to tell her. "I'm in love with Clio."

"But- but," cried Ava. "You love me!"

"I thought I did," said Phillip guiltily. "But I've realized that Clio is my true love. She's very kind and knows a lot about the human world."

"Humans?" scoffed Ava. "I've seen what they do to magic beings like us. They execute us because they think we're dangerous. We have to keep our powers hidden in the human world How could she be kind to those mortals?"

"Humans can't get us here in Avalon," assured Phillip sympathetically. "And besides they're not all like that."

"If I were queen," declared Ava. "I would lead the magical community against the humans and rid the world of them. We were meant to be together!"

"I'm sorry Ava," said Phillip calmly. "But I love Clio, we can still be friends" he added trying to calm the sidhe's hurt feelings.

Ava still frowned at the prince, she crossly transformed into sidhe form and flew away.

When Annie got home, she told Alex and Vivian everything.

"I can't believe we were so close," said Alex exasperated. "That sidhe is unstoppable."

"She does seem to be growing stronger," said Annie admittingly. "And we don't know where she's at."

Vivian wasn't paying to much attention to the conversation, she was cooking in the kitchen. She had set the table nicely and was cooking.

"You seem busy tonight Vivian" said Alex.

"Mr. Clemons is coming for dinner tonight," explained Vivian. "As you know I've been checking up on him since he got out of the hospital and I invited him over to get to know you all."

Just then there was a knock on the door.

"That must be him" said Vivian walking out of the kitchen and went to open the door.

Vivian opened the door and there was George wearing a forest green shirt and denim jeans.

"Hey Vivian," said George. "I hope we're not to early."

"No," said Vivian. "Come in."

George walked in; behind him the family saw as a lady. She looked to be close to George's age. She was an Asian woman with long black hair and wore a marigold cashmere and dark blue jeans and a teal Asian scarf.

"This is my girlfriend Yuria," said George. "I hope you don't mind if she joined us for dinner."

"No, not at all," said Vivian. "Dinner's almost ready." And she headed back to the kitchen.

"It's nice to see you again Alex," said George shaking hands with Alex. "And you're daughter too."

"You to George" said Alex politely.

The group went into the kitchen and sat down.

"So, Yuria," said Alex. "Can I get you something to drink?"

"I'll have a soda," said Yuria. She spoke in an Asian accent. Alex walked to the fridge and grabbed a sprite and poured it into a glass.

When it was time to eat, they all sat together. Annie had a sprite too. She felt like George and Yuria were starring at her. they seemed to find it suspicious that Alex and Vivian were trying to keep their glasses of water away from Annie.

"I can't thank you enough for saving my boyfriend's life," said Yuria taking a forkful of pasta in her mouth. "We were planning on moving to Florence you know, surely your wife told you that."

"Yes," said Alex as he put some Caesar salad on his plate. "Tell me," he asked interestedly. "Why would you want to move to a seaside town?"

"Well," said George. "Yuria and I decided it'd be nice to leave the big city and move down to a nice seaside town."

"It is nice down here," admitted Vivian. "Especially in the summer."

"So, Annie," said George. "Your stepmother told me you love roller skating."

"Yeah," replied Annie. "I've been doing that a lot of my life Mr. Clemons, it's one of my favourite hobbies."

"She also says you and your friends are always having adventures," said George growing more interested. "What does she mean by that?"

"Oh," said Annie trying to come up with something. "Well, yes, there's a lot for my friends and I to do in Florence. We're always going on the beach or in the woods." She reached out to grab her glass of sprite and she noticed frost began to form on the glass.

Fortunately, so did Alex.

"So, George, have and Yuria found a house yet?" he asked attempting to distract them.

"Not yet," replied George. "I've kind of put it off since I've been recovering from the accident. So, I've been staying in the hotel. Yuria's been checking up on me."

"I noticed the house next door is up for sale," jumped in Yuria.

"Yes," said Alex. "Our last neighbor, um, passed away this spring. So, the house was put up for sale."

"We might consider looking at it," said Yuria.

The rest of dinner went by well, and soon the couple said goodnight and left.

Annie decided she should call Irene's house; she grabbed the phone hanging on the kitchen wall.

Irene and the others were watching a movie.

Lydia answered the phone.

"Hello Mrs. Frost," said Annie. "Can I speak to Irene, Celina and Sean please?"

"Sure," said Lydia. "Irene, Annie's on the phone. She wants to talk to you."

Irene sighed and got up, Sean and Celina fallowed.

"Irene," said Annie. "I was thinking, we should go back to Avalon tomorrow and ask Forget me not to help us find Ava."

"Why?" asked Irene.

"There has to be a way for us to find Ava," Explained Annie. "She's very strong, since she overpowered the spell today. And she's gonna get even more powerful if we don't find her soon."

"Annie's right," agreed Celina. "She must be stopped. Ava's probably planning to go back into Avalon to kill the king. If she takes over, she'll take over the other realms too and destroy the humans."

"Call Trish and Kelsey," said Annie. "Tomorrow we're going to Avalon."

Years had passed since the marriage of prince Phillip and princess Clio and during all the time, had become king and queen of Avalon.

Outside the castle, an announcement was made. Sidhes gathered outside the castle. Phillip and Clio stood on a balcony.

"It has come to report," announced the announcer. "That our king and queen are expecting a baby."

Everybody cheered at the news. But the king and queen were the happiest, about having their first child.

A few months later the queen gave birth to a baby princess. The king entered the queen's chambers and saw her holding a baby sidhe. Her hair was blond just like her mother and her eyes were blue like forget me nots.

"She's so beautiful," said Phillip. "What shall we name her?"

"Forget me not," declared Clio. "Because her eyes are blue like forget me nots."

"It's perfect," said Phillip. "Now come on, it's time for the presentation."

They went out to the balcony where sidhes were gathered around.

"Sidhes of Avalon," announced the king. "May I present our daughter and heir to the throne of Avalon; princess Forget me not."

The queen held up her new born daughter and the sidhes applauded and cheered.

As Phillip and Clio walked back inside the castle, Ava appeared before them wearing a silky golden dress.

"Congratulations on the birth of your daughter your majesties," she said.

"Who is she Phillip?" asked Clio in surprise.

"This is Ava," said Phillip. "An old friend."

"Your daughter is so beautiful," said Ava looking at Forget me not. "She'll make a great queen someday."

"Thank you" replied Clio. Though she sounded disturbed and walked away with her daughter.

"It's been years," said Phillip. "You haven't even spoken to me, what are you doing here?"

"I just wanted to congratulate on your baby," retorted Ava.

"It's nice to see you again," said Phillip. "I've really been missing you."

"Same to you" Ava replied softly.

"I know you were upset by my love for Clio," said Phillip. "But you are always welcome in the castle."

Ava smiled at the king.

The next day Annie, Parker, Rachel, Irene, Trish, Kelsey, Celina, Sean, Mrs. Wellington and Melora went to the portal to Avalon.

They went to the castle and found Phillip sitting in his throne room.

"Your majesty," said Annie.

"Can we speak to Forget me not please?" asked Trish.

"You may" replied the king. Annie and Rachel noticed he sounded depressed. After what happened yesterday when Ava escaped and killed some of the sidhes in his council.

They walked up the stairs to Forget me not's room. She was looking out the window sadly.

"Forget me not," said Rachel softly. "Are you okay."

Forget me not turned around in surprise.

"Yeah," she said. "I'm fine."

"We've come to you to ask if you have an idea of how we can find Ava," explained Mrs. Wellington. "We wanted to ask you without your father knowing. He'd be to worried about you doing something dangerous."

"I think there may be someway to find Ava," said Forget me not. "I can make a spell to take us to her hideout."

Forget me not lead the gang into a room filled with books. Forget me not then took a book off a shelf and then read it.

"I think I found the spell to teleport us to Ava's hideout" declared Forget me not.

"Irene told us your father told her Ava killed your mother," said Kelsey. "Why would she do that?"

"She was in love with my father," explained Forget me not. "My father thought he loved her too, but then he met my mother and fell in love with her. Ava was jealous, so when I was a child, she killed her thinking that if she was gone, my father would regain his love for her. But he realized what she had done, and banished her."

Annie and Irene remembered that the punishment for killing another sidhe was eternal exile from Avalon.

"Let's find Ava" said Forget me not.

She looked in the book again and then told everyone to hold hands.

"Magic track down who we seek and take us to her lair" cried Forget me not.

Then the gang teleported out of the room and were transported into a cave.

"Where are we?" asked Sean.

"We're in a cave" muttered Celina.

"This must be Ava's hideout" said Trish softly.

"It's like some underground cave," said Parker.

"Let's find Ava," said Annie.

The gang walked down the passageway.

Eight years had passed since the birth of the princess. Forget me not was a very beautiful sidhe. And she also had the same kind heart her mother had.

It was the day of Forget me not's eighth birthday. Sidhes were gathered in the ballroom for the party. Forget me not and Clio entered the ballroom. Forget me not wore a pink gown and Clio wore a lilac gown and jewels in her hair.

"Isn't it exciting?" asked Clio excitedly.

"Yes mom," said Forget me not softly.

"Remember what I've said," said Clio with a teary smile. "You must always be kind to everyone even the humans."

"Why?" asked Forget me not. "Aren't mortals dangerous?"

"I know they have their differences with magic," explained Clio. "But not all are like that. So, you must show kindness to everyone."

Forget me not nodded at her mother and they walked down the stairs.

The queen and princess bowed at sidhes who gathered around. They joined in the dance. It was going so spectacularly.

Just then Clio started to cough. Some of the sidhes turned to look at the queen in surprise.

"Mom are you okay?" asked Forget me not worriedly.

"I'm fine dear" she said.

A few weeks past and things were becoming more concerning for the queen's health. The coughing was getting worse. Ava would serve tea for Clio and comfort Forget me not saying she was gonna be fine.

Finally, Clio couldn't leave bed. All the court were very concerned, it wasn't so common for a sidhe to get so dangerously ill.

Forget me not came into her room worriedly. Some of the sidhes of the court were gathered around Clio's bed.

"Mom?" said Forget me not.

"Forget me not…" said Clio in a weak voice. "I love you and I want you to remember what I've said about being a queen takes."

"I will mom," said Forget me not softly. "I will be kind to all beings magic or not."

Clio closed her eyes and passed away.

The next day the court gathered around in the throne room for the queen's funeral. They all looked down mournfully. But no one was more upset then the king and the princess.

"Your highness," said one of the healer sidhes stepping up. "Can I have a word with you for a minute."

Phillip nodded and left the room.

"I was doing some examination," said the healer sidhe. "And I noticed that the cause of death was poisoning from death berries."

Phillip's eyes opened wide in surprise.

"We believe she might've had it in her tea" the healer continued.

Phillip thanked the healer for his information and headed back into the throne room.

A while later, everybody left the room, the king and Ava were the only ones remaining in the room.

"I am sorry your highness," said Ava sounding sympathetic. "But you know, now we can finally be together."

"What are you talking about Ava?" asked Phillip.

"I mean the queen's gone," said Ava. "You can marry me and I can become queen just like we were meant to be."

Phillip's eyes opened wide with realization.

"You poisoned Clio" he said.

"I had to get rid of her," declared Clio defensively. "I figured that if she were gone, you'd regain your love for me! So, I put death berry juice in her tea. Then I'd become queen and I'd be a better queen then Clio. I mean she was kind to humans! Those mortals who try to kill us. If I were queen, I could lead fights against them and the magic community could be free to use their magic freely!"

The king glared at Ava.

"You'll never be queen Ava!" he declared. "Guards!" he called. "Take her!"

Two guards came into the throne room, Ava unleashed blue lightning bolts, but the guards dissolved them and put her in handcuffs.

The gang followed the passageway and came up to a dead end.

"Now what do we do?" asked Irene. "There's nothing but a wall!"

"It might be enchanted," said Melora. "Dawn and I can use our moon rings to open up the wall."

Mrs. Wellington and Melora stepped in front of the gang and held out their moon rings. The blue jewel on the rings glowed and the wall vanished. The gang ran inside and found themselves in a chamber.

Ava turned to look and saw the gang glaring at her.

"It's over Ava!" declared Annie boldly.

Parker charged forward with the sword of Avalon. He swung it trying to get Ava, but she ducked and Parker lost balanced and fell to the ground. Ava then used here telekinesis to throw him out of the chamber.

Ava then made an orb of light and threw it towards Trish. But Trish made herself invisible just before the orb hit her and it hit the wall.

Forget me not then unleashed a purple light. It hit Ava making her fall over. Ava got back up.

"Rachel, Irene, Trish," said Annie. "I have an idea. We can overpower her with a convergence."

Annie and Irene held hands and Rachel held Annie's other hand. Ava unleashed a beam of white light. Annie unleashed a bolt of water, Rachel unleashed a bolt of fire, Irene unleashed a beam of ice and Trish unleashed a bolt of substance. The combined beam fought back against Ava, Ava flew back into the wall and landed on the ground with a thud.

Annie and Rachel walked over to Ava and grabbed her arms.

"Forget me not," instructed Annie. "Go get your father and tell him to meet us in the woods back in Florence."

Forget me not nodded and teleported out of the cave. Mrs. Wellington waved her arm and the others teleported out too.

Ava was held by the guards as she was tried by the king. The court all gathered in the throne room for her trial.

"Ava," announced the king. "Do you have anything to say in your defense?"

"You should've married me!" snapped Ava. "I would've been a better queen then Clio! I would've led the magic community to take down the mortals!"

"As you know the punishment for killing another sidhe is eternal exile from Avalon," said Phillip. Though there was sadness in his voice for seeing his old friend turning against the kingdom. "You will pass through the gate of Avalon and never return.

Phillip and the guards took Ava to the portal to the oceanic realm and opened the gate and Ava floated through it and the gate closed.

The gang appeared in the woods outside the gate to Avalon.

Annie, Rachel and Ava appeared on the star symbol the sidhes drew; with Ava in the center.

Forget me not and Phillip came through the gate.

"What's going on?" asked Phillip.

"We've got Ava," said Annie. "So I think we should try the power stripping spell again."

Irene made ice from on Ava's feet so she couldn't try to escape. Annie stood on one of the points.

"Kaloume tis megales dynameis na afairesete tis exouise aftou tou ontos," recited Annie. "Afairesete tis exouise." A white light shot from Annie's chest and struck Ava.

"Afairesete tis exouise."

Rachel, Irene, Trish, Celina, Sean, Mrs. Wellington, Melora, Forget me not and Phillip got on hands and joined in. White lights shot from their chests too and struck Ava.

"Afairesete tis exouise. Afaireste tis exouise."

Ava screamed painfully and with a flash of light and the white lights vanished and Ava collapsed to the ground.

"It worked," said Forget me not. "Ava's powers are gone."

Ava started moaning painfully and the gang noticed something. Her skin was starting to wrinkle and her hair started greying.

"What's happening to her?" asked Rachel.

"Getting stripped of her powers stripped her of her immortality," explained Forget me not. "It made her mortal and her true age is revealed. She's 217 years old."

Ava looked up at Annie, her face covered in glowing white cracks.

"Annie!" she begged. "Help me!"

"I can't help you now Ava" declared Annie coolly.

Ava's body then disintegrated.

"She's gone," sighed Trish.

"It's over," said Celina. "Finally, over."

"I hope we can live our lives peacefully this time," said Irene.

Phillip and Forget me not thanked the mermaids for their help and returned to Avalon.

"I'll be returning to the oceanic realm to let my family know about Ava's defeat" explained Celina.

"Sean," said Irene. "What are you going to do now that Ava's gone?"

"Well," said Sean. "I guess I'll return to my status as leader of my pod." Annie noticed he sounded reluctant to leave. She had noticed how close they become since they met, they had fallen in love.

"I'll miss you," sighed Irene.

"I won't stay away long," assured Sean. "I couldn't leave you to fend for yourself alone." He added humorously, making Irene smile and kissed him.

When Annie got home, she told Alex and Vivian everything. They were very relieved to here that Ava was gone. Annie went up to her room and wrote in her diary.

November 15th 2016

Dear diary, today was one of our biggest successful days. We were able to vanquish Ava. We stripped her of her powers and without her powers she lost her mortality and died. Irene hopes that we can go back to our normal lives. I kind of hope she's right, I love being a mermaid, but it's getting kind of annoying fighting magic beings.

Author's note; This chapter is based of the Once upon a time episode The miller's daughter. Ava is based off Cora Mills because they are quite similar characters.
