Chapter 20 Dark moon rise

Author's note; Summary: George and Yuria plot their invasion on the mermaids; Melora begins to doubt the town's newcomers.

January 13th 2017

Dear diary, I've been doing well since the incident with the stalker. My friends and I have decided that the stalker knows we're mermaids. I still can't get over though what the seer told me about Parker, I can't help but worry about him.

The morning after the incident had left Annie shocked about the pictures. Annie made sure not to go out alone. Alex drove Annie and Rachel to school; they were very quiet in the car.

Annie noticed Irene and Trish were being cautious too. She saw The Frosts BMW pulling into the front of the building, indicating that Irene had her mom drive her to school. And Trish as usual rode to school with her mother and sisters.

As Annie and Rachel followed Alex inside, they noticed Mrs. Wellington and Melora standing outside Mrs. Wellington's car talking.

"I don't trust that George Clemons Dawn," Melora cried. "There's something about him and Yuria I don't trust."

"He seemed nice," said Mrs. Wellington.

"I know," sighed Melora. "It's just, when I saw him at dinner, there was something that looked familiar about him."

"Hello Mrs. Wellington," said Annie walking up. "What are you two talking about?"

"Oh, Melora's having doubts about George," explained Mrs. Wellington. "She's never met him, but she thinks she's seen him before."

"You know," said Annie admittingly. "There is something suspicious about him and his girlfriend Yuria. They always look at me interest, like they know something about me."

"You'd better keep an eye of them," said Melora. "They might not be who they say they are."

Meanwhile at the inn, George and Yuria were going over the pearl.

"I read in the old guide books at head office that the transport pearls can take you into any realm," explained Yuria. "All we have to do is through it into the water and a portal will appear and it will take us to the place we want to go by thinking about it."

"Good," said George. "Once we've taken care of Annie and her friends, we can use the pearl to enter the world these mermaids come from and destroy the other mermaids."

"But how are we gonna get there?" asked Yuria concernedly. "They're in an ocean world, so it'll be hard for us underwater."

George looked away thoughtfully.

"I know head office isn't going to like this," he sighed. "But we might have to use some magic to get to the mermaids realm."

Yuria looked up in surprise.

"What do you mean?" she asked nervously.

"If those mermaids have any magic spell books and potions, we can find a spell to make us breath underwater," explained George. "We can use it in the mermaid's realm."

"Where are we gonna find their spell books?" asked Yuria.

"I overheard Dawn and Melora talking about this spell book," said George. "They must have it at their house."

"Remind me why we're waiting till the full moon tomorrow to take action?" asked Yuria.

"Because," explained George. "The full moon can affect mermaid's powers. So, when the moon is full, the mermaids will get moonspelled their powers will become uncontrollable and we'll destroy them."

At school Annie was talking with Alex.

"Dawn told me tomorrow night is the full moon," said Alex. "Are you sure your gonna be okay?"

"Yes dad," assured Anni with a smile. "Irene and I have become easier with the full moon. Trish and Rachel are still getting the hang of it, but they'll be more controlled as time goes on. Besides we've been dealing with this before you and Vivian found out I became a mermaid."

"I know," chuckled Alex. "Your still my daughter and I can't help but worry about you with that stalker and those who'd be obsessed with proving mermaids exist."

Annie looked away as her father said that.

"When I was in Jasper," she said. "The stalker followed me there and killed this seer I met."

Alex's eyes widened in surprise.

"Why didn't you tell us?" he asked horrified.

"I didn't want to worry you," cried Annie. "It's like it knew I was going there" she added softly, calming down.

"How would it know that?" asked Alex. "We never told anyone that."

"It must've overheard us talking about it," sighed Annie. "You know, when I talked to that seer, she saw a vision of Parker, he was captured by supernatural hunters and I can't help but worry about him."

"Don't worry," assured Alex. "We'll get to the bottom of this. And I'm sure Parker will be fine; he really likes to keep you safe and be by your side."

Annie felt better and left the room for Geography.

When school was out Annie and Rachel walked out the door. They saw Irene, Trish, Kelsey and Elaine. They noticed Trish was looking uncomfortable.

"Poor Trish," said Annie. "I noticed her at lunch being quiet."

"She didn't talk much in Geography either," said Rachel. "She doesn't talk too much in class, except for music, but today she was quiet even for class."

The two girls walked over to them.

"Hey Trish" said Annie cheerfully. "What's wrong?"

"The stalker thing is really getting to her," explained Elaine. "She's been stressed all day."

Irene walked up to her Annie.

"I also mentioned about what we saw on it's computer" she whispered.

"You told her about the pictures of her on his computer?" exclaimed Annie, though she also kept her voice quiet.

"Well, I had to tell her about what we did the other day," said Irene defensively. "But she is going through a lot to know that there are pictures of her on the stalker's computer."

Annie and Rachel looked around, there was no sign of the black car or the mysterious figure today.

"Elaine," asked Rachel. "Have you ever seen the stalker?"

"Kind of," admitted Elaine. "We've seen it's car following us around town sometimes, but we've never seen anyone. I don't know why you guys won't tell us anything," she added annoyedly. "Lately Trish has been so secretive with you guys or keeping to herself."

Annie felt sorry for Trish, she knew how close she was with her sisters and that she wanted to tell them about their secret.

They saw Alex coming out and she and Rachel went to join him and head home.

Later Annie stepped out with Vivian to pick up some food for dinner.

Yuria was walking the other way drinking a cup of coffee in one hand and talking on her cellphone on the other.

"Did you tell head office about the mermaids?" asked Yuria.

"Yes, I did," replied George. "I even told him about there might be an extra mermaid that a friend of one of the mermaids might be a mermaid too. I'm going over to Mrs. Wellington's house and look for their spell book."

"Got it" said Yuria and she hung up.

Just then she ran into Annie and Vivian and fell to the ground. Yuria's purse fell to the ground and stuff poured out.

"Oh sorry," exclaimed Vivian bending down to help her up.

"It's okay," said Yuria smiling. "I didn't see you there."

Annie helped Yuria pick up her stuff. But out of the corner of her eye, she saw something shiny in Yuria's purse. It was a flash of rainbow colors, just like the transport pearls.

She remembered Irene telling her that morning that Sean had lost his pearl and that it must've fallen in the hotel room the stalker had been staying in. She wondered if Yuria was the stalker.

At Mrs. Wellington's house, George looked around. Mrs. Wellington's car wasn't there, so he thought she was out.

He looked in through a window at the side of the house. There was no one inside either.

George opened the front door and snuck inside. He saw on a small table by the armchair, a book. He picked up the book and looked inside.

It was Mrs. Wellington's spell book.

He flipped through the pages until he found a spell.

Magic bubbles to let you breath underwater

George smiled triumphantly and ripped the page out of the book and quickly left.

When Annie got home, she walked up to her room and called Parker on her cellphone.

"Hey Annie," said Parker. "What's up?"

"I was thinking," said Annie thoughtfully. "And I'm thinking Yuria might be the hunter that's been stalking us."

"George Clemons girlfriend?" asked Parker. "Why would you think that?"

"It's just," explained Annie. "When Vivian and I ran into her this afternoon, I noticed something that looked like the transport pearl Sean lost in her purse. And Melora's been having her doubts in her and George and I've been starting to understand why. They always seem like they have an obsession in me."

"Did you tell your parents?" asked Parker sounding unsurely.

"No," said Annie. "I don't want them to get into trouble with them."

"It probably isn't them," assured Parker. "It's probably just paranoid."

"Maybe you're right," sighed Annie. But she was still beginning to have her own doubts in the newcomers too.

Portland Oregon September 2016

George and Yuria we're called into the council's office.

"You wanted to see us, Troy?" asked George.

"Yes George," declared Troy. "As you know earlier this year Nick Wetmore a member of our council went to Florence to investigate the attempt abduction of some mermaids which cost the deaths of two of our hunters and disappeared."

"Yes I do" replied George.

"We believe that the same mermaids have struck again in England," continued Troy. "Josie and some other hunters were burnt up by them. So now we have two seats on the council in need of replacement and we find you two potential candidates."

George and Yuria exchanged looks of interest.

"It'd be our pleaser" said George sounding excited.

"In order to prove yourselves to become council members," instructed Troy. "I have a mission for you two. To go to Florence and keep an eye on these three girls."

He gave the couple three pictures. The girl in the middle was a red-haired girl wearing a pink t-shirt. The girl on the right was a light brown-haired girl wearing a black tank top. And the girl on the left was a blond girl wearing a white top and a jean jacket.

"We believe these girls are the mermaids," explained Troy. "I want you to Florence and get information about them and then eliminate them."

"We won't let you down Troy" declared Yuria.

Melora had come home. Mrs. Wellington and Haru were out, so she was alone in the house. She noticed the spell book was open.

She walked over to the book and noticed a page was missing.

Suddenly there was a knock at the door.

Melora walked over and answered it.

It was George.

"Hello Melora," said George politely.

"Uh, hi George" replied Melora awkwardly.

"I just thought I'd tell you," said George. "I've giving it some thought and you were right, I remember you."

"You do?" asked Melora in confusion.

"Yes," replied George. "When I was a child."

Melora's eyes widened in surprise.

"I knew I've seen you before!" she exclaimed.

George then punched Melora in the face and knocked Melora out.

Author's note; George has got Melora, will Annie and the others be able to rescue her? We've almost reached in the end of this story. Only two more chapters to go.
