Slamming into the ground, Morgan winced at the feeling of cobblestones pressing into her knees even as she stood, taking in her surroundings with wide eyes. They stood in a street with a very shabby looking restaurant, 'the Leaky Cauldron' she managed to read wincing at her dyslexia causing the letters to lift off the nearby sign.
"Albus good of you to show, and with them as well." A stern-looking woman came up to them, her gray-streaked hair pulled back into a severe bun at the top of her head. Her emerald green robes swirling around her as she walked, "I'll take them from her thank you," she closed her fists ready to fight as they entered the pub.
Several wizards sat at tables drinking or, Morgan wrinkled her nose, smoking. Exiting quickly behind the pub and into a cut-off back alley with a trash can and not much else she saw Grace tap the woman on the shoulder politely asking, "Professor, where are we going. I thought Professor Dumbledore said we were going to purchase our school supplies."
The witch looked down at her, for she was quite tall, and drew forth a length of dark wood. The gleaming wand, or at least that's what assumed it was. Morgan could only tell that a small amber stone set into the end and seemed to fit perfectly into the witch's hand as she raised it over three of the bricks her hand rising then traveling two to the side and tapped it lightly.
A minute black spot appeared on the brick a hole which grew larger with every second until an archway yawned before her opening into an immense alley full of bustling witches and wizards. Her mouth dropped open and the witch before her smiled and said. "Welcome young demigods to Diagon Alley."
Morgan tried to take everything in, and even being an ADHD demigod wired for battle, she still was sure she hadn't seen everything. Making their way through the crowd she followed McGonagall to a snowy white building with glimmering gold letters and massive marble pillars.
"Professor what does that say," gods she hated being dyslexic reading anything not written in Ancient Greek was an enormous pain in the podex. "This is Gringotts Wizarding Bank, you can exchange your Muggle money for wizarding currency."
She heard her friend curse under her breath even though she understood every word perfectly, "Morgan do you have any money I didn't grab any from the camp store." She shook her head but knelt as though to tie her shoe, but placed her hand on the ground sending out her senses into the underworld pulling gently on a familiar cold spot under the earth.
A small diamond was pushed out of the earth and she smiled in satisfaction turning the stone over in her fingers. Standing and slipping the stone into her pocket she grinned confidently at her friend, "don't worry about it I have it covered." McGonagall gave her a cautious look before warning them, "Gringotts is staffed by goblins who have never been the friendliest of creatures. It would be best if you stuck close to me as the last thing, we need is an inter-special incident." The two demigods nodded and followed the witch into the bank.
When she entered the building, she sent out her senses in curiosity and stumbled to her knees because of the feedback. Gold, silver, bronze, rubies, emeralds, diamonds, thousands of precious stones and metals surrounded her. "Morgan, you, okay?" The question had her forcing her senses off, closing herself off for the wealth that surrounded her, and leaping confidently to her feet.
"Just tripped," as they made their way to an open table manned by perhaps one of the most interesting of creatures. The goblin was short with extraordinarily long fingers and nose. "How may I help you?" McGonagall stepped forward simply saying, "currency exchange."
Gesturing for one of them to come forward Morgan strode to the goblin's desk and pulled out the diamond she had summoned earlier, "can you accept this in return for its value in..."
Pausing she turned and asked, "what tender is used her in England's wizarding community?" The witch tore her eyes from the glittering rock and said, "galleons, sickles, and knuts." Thanking the witch, she said, "in what she said, please and thank you Mr..." She glanced quickly at the nameplate on the desk determinedly reading the name etched there. "Bogrod," she finished.
The goblin nodded and spoke a few words she did not understand as he scribbled down a few numbers onto a scrap of parchment. "Griphook will take you to retrieve your money if you would please follow him." Another goblin motioned for them to follow and Morgan smiled politely at Bogrod, "thank you." Before the three of them ducked through a door in the stone wall and into the vaults.
The cool cavern air rushed around her, pulling a few errant strands from her braid and making her heart race. They hurtled through the dark, the shadows narrowly illuminated by a flashing light on the front of the cart they rode. Meeting Grace's eyes her friend look exhilarated as they whipped around the corner and screeched to a halt in front of a large door.
"Vault 12," Griphook said simply hopping off the cart and stroking the door with a single long finger. The vault door split in half following the trail of the goblin's finger revealing mounds of gold, silver, and bronze coins each a different size.
Glancing down at the parchment she said, "it seems as though the stone I gave to Bogrod was worth one-hundred and three galleons, thirteen sickles, and twenty-two Knuts." The goblin moved around inside the vault stuffing coins into a small leather pouch that should not have been able to hold the money. She shrugged this off as, well it's magic, besides she knew she was getting what it was worth having opened up her senses just to the pouch once it was handed to her.
"Thank you," she said as they clambered off the cart once more and into the entrance hall of the bank leaving quickly, emerging back into the bustling crowd. "Ms. Sabers I must ask you, where ever did you acquire such a beautiful diamond? And why would you give such a treasure away? Her friend pulled the Professor to the side away from the crowds and said in a low whisper, "I am unaware if you know, but I am Hades' daughter. With him being the god of wealth, I have the ability to summon any of the riches of the earth. Metals or gems."
