- Mark, this nonsense has to stop.
This is the twenty-fourth time Shawna has called him. Mark wasn't picking up the phone from any of the rogues and they were all starting to get worried. They had all been saying that discovering the Flash's identity had been the breaking point for Mark. Shawna knew from her own experience that if Mark had reacted this way, it was because he really liked Barry. No one knew where Flash was. Cold had carried out several robberies in the days that Mark had been missing, it had already been two weeks without showing signs of life, without the weather suddenly changing anywhere. Every day, the rogues took turns checking the weather around the world or searching for news related to sudden weather changes. Shawna had considered herself to be Mark's best friend and she was really starting to worry. As a trainee nurse, Shawna had seen people at their breaking point and she was secretly starting to worry about Mark's mental health. It was clear that he needed help and that he didn't want it. Mark had always been good at slipping away and lying low until circumstances changed. Shawna hoped that Mark wouldn't take too long to return to them, Cold was blaming himself for his disappearance, even if he didn't show it, but sometimes, he had those little details, like turning on the football when Mark's favorite team was playing or standing in front of his room or ask his opinion on something, although he should know by now that Mark was not among them.
- Please, Mark, when you hear this message, call me.
Shawna wasn't ready to be the group's psychotherapist, she herself had her own problems, she missed him too. Mark was like a brother to her, who she made sure to go to if she needed anything, if she was happy or just wanted to annoy him. And the fact that he had left like that, without a farewell note, had hurt her. Sometimes, Shawna would look at photos of cities that he would have liked, she would teleport to them and search for him, but all had been fruitless. Actually, she believed that Mark might have been in Metropolis. Without realizing it, she started to cry, she could feel the wetness of the tears. She screamed, over and over and over again. Out of fear, confusion, stress, frustration, anger, anxiety and helplessness. She collapsed to the ground. Arms grabbed her as she began to hit the floor. Shawna looked at the person, hoping it was Mark, but it was Mike instead of him.
"I'm sorry," Shawna said, sitting up, but Rory didn't let her.
-Don't be sorry.-said Rory.-Cry until you get tired or until you want to. Do it and don't hold back. It's no use that we're all hurting, Shawna.
- I wish I could do something else to help, Mike.
- I know, girl, but now you have to take care of yourself.
Peek a Boo, who had tried to stay strong, cried uncontrollably as Heat Wave held her and comforted her. The Rogues had been a family since the day they met. Mike Rory was the most loving guy anyone could imagine. His serious expression, his musculature, were scary from the outside, but once you got to know him and earned his trust and respect, Mike would support you to the end. They didn't know how long they were in that position, none of them cared enough to look at a clock and Mike wasn't going to let go of her until she completely calmed down, so there was no point in worrying about something as ephemeral as time.
- We're all devastated, Mike. Since Mark left everything has changed. Even Cold postpones the robberies.
-Allen is worried about Mark.-Mike said.-The Rogues have each other, but he doesn't have anyone. His friends have abandoned him and he has no family, except The League. And that's not much, considering that Batman is such a wall.
Shawna was surprised to hear it. They were all so worried about Mark that they had completely forgotten about Barry. She felt terrible about herself instantly. The Flash had always cared for his Rogues when one of them needed him and now they, in their selfishness, had abandoned him, when they all swore they would never be like the villains of Arrow or Batman.
- How's Barry, Mike? I suppose you've been watching the boy so he doesn't do anything stupid.
- Barry's more or less fine. He was pretty disappointed when Cold called off his heists and he sometimes misses League meetings, but at least he's easy to find when somebody needs him and he hasn't had the Mardon tantrum.
- And that's to be okay?
- He suffers too, Shawna. He misses him terribly, as do we.
- Do you think Mark will ever come back, Mike?
-He will.-Mike said with conviction.-We are his family. Mark has never handled his emotions well, you know that perfectly well.
- I miss him, Mike.
- Just like everyone else, Shawna. If only that idiot had left a note or told someone where he was going, we would all be easier for him. But listen to me, Shawna, Mark is a man who can take care of himself. He knows what he's doing and why he's running away. He will return to us when he is ready.
Shawna hoped that Mike was right. But she now had to take care of herself and in order to do that, she needed to know that Barry was okay. Flash had given them a number to call in case of an emergency. He did it after Lewis Snart put a bomb on Lisa's neck. Sometimes the Rogues, especially Axel, would tease Flash via cell phone.
"Mark?" She heard Flash's voice on the other end of the line.
- No.-said Shawna.-I'm Peek a Boo. How are you?
"Are you calling to check on me?" Flash sounded confused.
- Yes. I'm worried about you, Flash. Sorry for not calling you earlier.
When Flash answered, he seemed more animated than before, which made Shawna feel happy, at least until the call ended, where then reality would come upon her again. Mike, knowing that she was better, went back to sit on the sofa to watch television. He at least had been able to help Peek a Boo, although Mark was going to listen to him when he got back. It was mean to make a woman cry and dangerous to make a woman cry under Heat Wave's care.
