The van lurched to a stop as the gang found themselves back in their present day. At first, everyone was quiet as they realized that they had Sly back with them for the first time in almost a month. Then, everyone began laughing as they looked back and forth between one another as they realized that Sly was with them. "I just got the weirdest feeling of deja vu," Sly said. "I was thinking the same. It reminds me of the time after I broke you two out of the Contessa's prison," Bentley said. "It's good to have you back, buddy," Murray said. "Now, let's go eat. I'm starving." "You just ate a bunch of sandwiches before we left, Murray," Carmelita said, shaking her head at the hippo. "What, all this time travel makes me hungry," he explained, patting his stomach. "How about we get Sly settled back in, and you go get us all some food," Bentley said. "And please, do not get confrontational with anyone. We don't need you to end up in a race with anyone tonight," Sly said. "That was only like two times when I went to get food," Murray said. Everyone gave Murray pointed looks at that statement. Carmelita handed over her credit card and said, "Just order pretty much one of everything on the menu wherever you go." Sly, Carmelita, and Bentley hopped out of the van. "Yes ma'am," Murray yelled out the window before kicking the van in reverse and pulling out of the safe house.
Sly held onto Carmelita as they walked inside, not wanting to miss another moment with her. As they made their way into the safe house, Bentley said, "Alright, Sly. I'm going to clean up my lab while you get settled back in. I'll see you in a little bit for dinner." "Alright. I'll see you in a bit, buddy." Sly continued to walk with Carmelita towards his room. As they got further into the house, he asked, "How far along are you? When did you find out?" "I found out about a week after you disappeared on the blimp. I'm probably just under two months along." "And almost a month of it I missed because I felt that I couldn't let Le Paradox get away." Carmelita sat on the bed in Sly's room and started to cry. "You don't know the half of it. I worried every day whether our baby would have a father, whether I would have to raise him or her alone. I had to go through that month, burying all of my feelings. Bentley found me sneaking into your room in the middle of the night just so that I could smell your scent. I was depressed and miserable, so I spent all of my time either working or searching for you among the wreckage of the blimp, knowing it was hopeless. I even found the picture from your wallet of us, which made me fear that you were dead." Sly sat down beside her, wrapping the vixen in his arms and letting her cry. He ran his fingers through her hair like he knew that she liked and just let her talk through her feelings. He had cried many times over the past few weeks, missing his family. Bentley and Murray were like his brothers, and Carmelita was the love of his life. He thought for a while that he would never see any of them again. And, he didn't even know that she was pregnant. He wouldn't have forgiven himself if he had known that detail. After a few minutes of letting the tears fall, Carmelita finally collected herself and said, "I really need to say this now to your face. I love you, Sly Cooper. That is why I don't want you to get offended when I say you stink. You really need a shower. I feel like I'm going to throw up because of the sea smell on you. These pregnancy hormones are kicking me in the gut." Sly laughed and said, "I don't want to leave you alone. How about we shower together?" "Go start the shower, Ringtail," Carmelita said. "No, after you, my lady. I need someone to judge my smell before I get out." "You really do drive a hard bargain," Carmelita replied back. With that, Sly placed a quick kiss on her lips. Carmelita melted into him for a moment before feeling nauseous. She broke apart from Sly before running to the bathroom toilet. "I'm sorry," Sly yelled, chasing after her.
Upon reaching the toilet, Carmelita threw up the remnants of her cake and ice cream that she ate earlier that night as Sly held back her hair. "How long does the morning sickness last? Actually, can you even call this morning sickness," Sly questioned, looking slightly disturbed, yet sorry. "Up to fourteen weeks. I'm somewhere probably around seven or eight. And it's not just mornings." Sly said, "I'll let you brush your teeth while I start up the shower." With that, he grabbed his toothbrush and started to brush his teeth as he walked over to the shower. He didn't want to be the cause of Carmelita's sickness, so he figured it best to clean every inch of himself. He stepped into the shower and let out a groan as the hot water hit him. "I missed this so much. I only got rained on or dunked in cold water there." Carmelita finished brushing her teeth, spitting the toothpast out as she said, "That sounds awful." She then stripped off her clothes before joining Sly under the water. "Wow. It's so unreal," Sly said as he noticed Carmelita's figure. He asked, "May I," gesturing to her belly. She nodded and pulled on his hand, placing it on her stomach. He slowly rubbed it, feeling the slight protrusion of her abdomen where their baby was growing. "Alright. Let's not waste all the hot water. Let's get you cleaned up, and you can rub the bump all you want later," Carmelita said. He nodded before grabbing his shampoo. He opened the cap and poured it all over himself, including his head, arms, and chest. "Can you get my back," Sly asked Carmelita. "Of course." She squirted the shampoo all over his back and began to lather it. After scrubbing all the dirt from his fur, she poured some on herself and began to clean her own fur. Sly did her back after he finished his scrubbing. They both rinsed all the suds off before moving on to the conditioner. When they were done rinsing the conditioner, they dried off and got dressed. Sly grabbed his favorite cologne off the sink and squirted it on himself. "Alright, time for a smell test," Sly said. Carmelita walked up to him and sniffed. "Oh, I missed that smell. Come here," she said, pulling him towards her for a kiss. As they melted into each other, Carmelita felt a few tears fall, having missed this feeling for weeks. "Hey, don't cry. I've got you now, and I'm never letting you go," Sly said as he pulled back to look into her eyes. "I'm never letting you out of my sight, Ringtail," she replied. "I don't care if you want to go back to your thieving or busting bad guys with me. All I know is that we are in it together." "I'm in it for the long run as long as it's with you," Sly replied back to her. After that, a loud bang sounded from the front of the safehouse, meaning Murray was finally back from his late night food run, so they decided to go out and join their friends for some food.
As Sly and Carmelita walked out, they could see Murray toting four bags full of food. "Geez, Murray. Where did you go," Carmelita asked. "I went to a burger and taco combination place and got everything they had. It took a while because they labeled everything they cooked." Bentley came in and had the same kind of reaction as Carmelita. "Murray, have mercy. How much food did you buy?" "Enough for an army or leftovers for a few days. Carmelita said one of everything." "Well, let's chow down now and deal with the leftovers later. If we don't have room, I'm sure we can find someone who will eat it," Sly said. With that, the group sat down to eat. With everyone at the table during their late dinner, things finally felt normal again. Everyone got to talking about different things that had happened during Sly's absence from Carmelita's pregnancy, Murray's wrestling championship match, and Bentley's laboratory work. A few questions remained unspoken until the end of their meal. Finally, Sly asked, "So, now that I'm back, is Le Paradox going to be off the hook for my disappearance? What kind of charges is he up against? And what about Penelope, if you don't mind me asking Bentley? Was she brought back and charged for her crimes?" "Well," Carmelita started, "Le Paradox is being held on many charges. He isn't going anywhere anytime soon. And Penelope, she escaped. We don't know where she is." "I've received some weird postcards in the mail as of late with a mouse symbol in graffiti on them," Bentley said, pulling out three photographs. "I believe they are from her, but I don't know where she could be. She hasn't written anything or tried to communicate with me." "That's so weird. How did she do it," Sly asked, looking at the photographs. "Nobody knows. She was in high security, and nobody saw or heard anything," Carmelita said. "That's so weird," Sly said. Just then, the doorbell rang. "I wonder who that could be," Bentley said. As he rolled over to the door, he opened it to see Dimitri, Panda King, and Guru. "What are you guys doing here," Bentley asked. "We heard that the young Sly Cooper has been found," Panda King said. Guru spoke some words about Sly's return as well. Dimitri said, "Look, Cracker Box, are you going to let us groove in so we can boogie?" Bentley shook his head but motioned for the three to enter. "At least the food won't go to waste," Murray said as everyone sat around the dining table. With that, the three dug into the food as everyone got to catching up on everything that had happened since the gang disbanded.
