The first thing Harry felt when we awoke was pain. Thankfully it was not the "Oh no! I'm dying" type of pain. It was more of the "I just went ten rounds with the 195cm mountain named Ivan at the boxing club" type of pain. So Harry groaned and managed to sit and open his eyes. Before him he saw an endless expanse of water. A quick look down found him sitting on a beach and missing half his clothes. Thankfully, he still had his glasses and pants. But his dress coat, undershirt, and left sock were definitely missing.

He stood and tried to stretch his arms and back, trying to work through some of the soreness. A quick look behind him showed some type of forest, though nothing like he had seen before. The weather here was rather warm, much warmer than anywhere in Britain, or even Europe, for this time of year. He could hear the waves lapping up to sore and some sort of bird or other animal moving around in the forest behind him.

Oh, that doesn't look good, Harry thought as he noticed a human sized lump a ways down the beach. He ran down towards and found what he expected. Hermione was lying there in a similar looking state to him. Her hair full of sand, a few random items of her formal clothing seemed to be missing. He reached down and found her to be breathing and let out a breath of his own. Seeing no injuries on her, he gently started to shake her trying to wake her up.

Hermione came to with a groan of her own and rubbed her head.

"Ow, what happened?" She opened her eyes and got her first look at their current location.

"Where are we? Harry, how did we end up here?"

"I'm not sure," Harry said, helping her to her feet. "The last thing I remember is us taking the port-key back from the ICW ball. Did something happen with it?"

Hermione was rubbing head, trying to think and remember through the headache.

"I… I remember hearing shouting right before it took off. Something about… an intern… maybe something about the port-key calculations. I'm not sure. But either way we got here we need to get home. Do you have your wand, I think mine got lost in the crash."

Harry quickly checked only to realize that his wand was in his out jacket that was gone.

"Nope. Mine's gone too."

Hermione nodded, almost to herself, already thinking through their next steps.

"Okay, we need to take inventory of what we still do have and maybe do a bit of exploration of our area. After that we can reconvene and figure out what we need to do."

-Scene Break-

After a number of hours, the sun was beginning to set and Harry and Hermione had made their way back to the beach they woke up on.

"Okay," Harry started. "First off, neither of us have our wands and we are definitely stuck on an uninhabited island with no way off."

"Yes, that does seem to put us in a bit of a predicament," Hermione replied.

Harry huffed at that and flopped down on the sand. "I say that's putting things lightly."

"It's not hopeless," Hermione said. "I found a wiggen tree and a couple of magical burrowing snails. Which with a bit of work, I could hopefully make into a very simple wand that we could use to apparate off of this island."

Harry sat up at this and looked at her

"Really? I didn't know you could do that. Not surprised of course. Is that something that can be done quickly or will that take a bit."

Hermione bit her lip thinking through the process required.

"Unfortunately, while the wiggen tree can make decent wands, it is not a naturally strong magic tree and requires a fair bit of time to prepare."

"How long are we talking here?" Harry asked. "A few days, a few weeks…"

"More like six to eight months." Hermione said quietly.

Harry sighed and nodded solemnly.

"Okay, it could be worse." He got back up to his feet and brushed himself off.

"It sounds like we have a way to move forward and just need to make our way there."

Hermione nodded and took his hand. This was going to be a difficult few months ahead of them. But they had been through worse. They would rise and face this challenge as well, together.
